Sai welcomed the supportive shoulder beneath his arm as Kin hauled him to his feet and held him up. He had not actually been expecting him to help so much, he had thought Kin to be more introverted than that.

"Thank you, Kin. How about you steer us over to those healers. I think we could both use a boost." Sai said.

Stratus had risen to all fours when Kin had taken Sai's weight. He stood beside the two of them, ready to follow as soon as they began to move. He, too, was in need of some healing. More than anything though, they all needed some rest. Even a few hours sleep would probably do more for them than a few minutes of healing. Sai and Stratus both had heard of the energy transfer technique. They had never learned how to do it, but they knew the theory and they knew that the amount of energy spent was nearly double that of what was received. Even so, enough to get them back to the castle was all that they would need.

"I haven't forgotten that you hold no great love for the customs." She answered with a smile. "But to be an apprentice sage, I must show proper respect to that of the rank- Simurgh!" One of the birds had swooped down on her, nearly ripping off some of her hair in the process. The bird chirped humorously, while Lamen sighed and shook her head, embarrassed yet again. Her bonded seemed to be particularly hard on her today- perhaps because she missed a good chance to see a professional battle.

-

-

-<(Mental chuckle.) Continue on this path, and you'll make a better hermit than a sage!>

The exchange had taken merely a moment, just the time for the Dragon Sage to mention the new addition to his mythical assistants.

"New family?" She asked, surprised when the little dragon seemed to materialize out of nowhere- she hadn't noticed! Lamen approached the young dragon carefully but fearlessly, offering him one of her hands palm-up to see if he'd let her pet him. "Such an adorable face! -And your dragons are healthy and shining as always, Brantalis. Hello, little one." She spoke softly, feeling the fresh magical flow in the beast, pure and untainted, enhancing her own perceptions. She had a talent for sensing magic which oddly enough, had not been passed down her family. It was the reason why her family had such high hopes for her, to surpass all the mages of her bloodline.

"By the way, it seems that in my absence, I have been missing out on a lot. Whatever battle you held must have been incredible- one look at the scenery could tell. They must be powerful mages." She said, gesturing towards the tired people and their bonded. Their exhaustion was a mystery- for what purpose had they expended so much power? It could not have been healthy...

Simurgh chimed, all of her forms presently settled on either rocks or her mage's shoulders.

Vilya withdrew her offered hand, shrugging with a smile and watching Kin and Sai stagger away.
She asked Tura, only to find the gryphon wasn’t listening.
Tura bowed her head to the phoenix, a look of compassion flickered across her fierce features as her eyes fell on the sleeping girl, but she quickly regained her icy composure and related the message to Vilya who went at once to the healers.
“Please see to my friend there, mind you don’t touch her companion though, you may get a bad burn.”
Vilya gave a nod and a smile to Asako as two healers hurried over.
After she made sure Minatsuki was taken care of Vilya turned her attention to Brantalis and the new stranger talking quietly a little ways away. She watched the many birds settle and studied their movements closely.
“That’s odd, If I didn’t know any better, I’d say they were all of one mind.”
Tura chuckled in her thoughts.

With that the gryphon approached the birds respectfully, dipping her head as she neared.

The young dragon pushed his stout nose into Lamen’s outstretched hand, sniffing deeply before pushing past it to stand beside her. Brantalis laughed.
“This little one has visions of grandeur, he wishes to be a combatant when he is old enough. But unfortunately that is a long ways off.” He eyed the baby with a mock-stern expression.
"But! My old age catches me, I have forgotten about my opponents. Please pardon me young Lamen, I owe several seals to these brave youths.” Here he gestured to the combatants who were slowly recovering.

When the two healers came over, Asako let out a breath of relief, though she glared at them as they tried to heal Minatsuki. Each of the healers gently laid their hands on Minatsuki's shoulders, and initiated their spell, quickly replenishing the drained girl of the energy she needed. What they did not realize was the depth of her energy well; the more that they put in, it felt as if her body was draining the energy straight out of their own unconsciously. After two minutes or so, one of the healers began to struggle to take his hand away, but he could not, as hard as he may try. Minatsuki simply looked as if she was sleeping peacefully, but the two healers that were attached to her like a magnet were groaning, trying to take their withering hand away from the monstrosity that was stealing their life. The phoenix panicked, and tried to wobble away, but could not move out of its position, pinned to the ground as if she was a lightning rod for the energy being drawn from the healers. Groaning, Asako slowly began to sink to the ground, though she could feel the energy from the healers flowing inward to her as well.

Several minutes later, the healers finally detached themselves from the girl, and scurried away towards the sage, gasping for breath.

"M-mi'lord!! That, that girl!!"

One of the healer cried out towards the sage, pointing at the phoenix and the girl.

"She just tried to kill us!"

Slowly, Minatsuki rose from sleep, her eyes half open. Letting out a loud yawn, she stretched her arms and swung her leg over, landing on the ground with a heavy thud.

"Urgh... I'm hungry..."

Looking around, she did not realize the look of awe she was receiving from the healers.

Kin changed direction and wobbled over to a group of healers. "Take him." Kin said to them and lowered Sai to the ground without trying to drop him. "I'll be fine." Just said as he took a few steps away and sat down with his arms crossed like he usually did and let his eyes drop shut. Deep down Kin was experiencing great pain, but he endured.

((Ooh, so they can talk to each other? Kewl. surprised ))

Some of Simurgh's many heads turned to face Tura, whose dark-feathered figure she'd noticed before- and who now stood much taller than any of her; it was always an interesting experience to see things from both the perspectives of big and small eyes alike. The gryphon seemed to be one of the wiser- and more conversational- companions present, so the approach was not such a surprise. What was surprising, however, was that she'd seen through the little flock's common mind.
Simurgh did not suspect that Tura was magi- she had been complimenting the gryphon's bonded, having assumed the "mage" had noticed, and relayed her message.

Lamen started to scratch the dragon's eye ridges, a usual itchy spot of his race. "I can see he will grow strong, but I hope he won't do anything rash to prove himself. You know, at that age... right?" She grinned at the scaled beast, giving him a friendly pat on the neck. She was then surprised to figure that all of Brantalis' dragons were defeated- and that all of the bonded magi that she could see presently had passed the test. "It was good to speak with you again." Lamen nodded, still tending to the baby, and looked around- only to see a tall black gryphon apparently conversing with the many little Simurghs. It was an odd sight... and that is when she felt something wrong a little ways further. There seemed to be a black-haired girl on the ground, sucking in the healer's energy through that of her bonded phoenix. Lamen paled at the horrendous sight as the healers' hands withered and they ran past her to Brantalis.
She asked Simurgh, who replied quickly for both she and Tura:
-

-

Lamen left the dragon and strode over to Minatsuki, offering her a hand up. "Here. I would advise not to stay here. The healers are frightened." She could not feel anything wrong with the girl anymore, curiously enough. The gray mage would try to help figure things out later- for now, this phoenix girl didn't seem to have a clue what was going on, all the more reason to get her out of here before she heard those accusations of attempted murder that the healers were howling about carelessly.

Duhl exclaimed when Vladamir vanished from his sight.

Spio said, trying to stay calm in spite of his surprise. He hoped that his partner would reign in his emotions, quickly.

Duhl said, though he sounded as though being patient were the last thing he wanted to do.

Brantalis gave his healers a troubled look as they rushed past him.
“She did no such thing.”
Stepping around them he made his own way over to the girl. “Haven’t you been in my service long enough to learn?” he rounded on the two healers with an annoyed tone.
Brantalis was familiar with similar cases, but he could only speculate the cause for the subconscious energy drain.
Kusanagi was watching also and offered his thoughts.

“Come,” he said finally, “There is a transport gate we can take to return to my castle.”
He nodded to several other healers who hurried away and began its activation. A bright blue seal appeared on the ground underneath their feet, in unison they stepped back as it turned white and a thin watery disc materialized in its middle.
“Would you be able to travel through the gate?” He spoke kindly to Minastuki, thinking it best if he remained close to her to put his healers at peace.

Vilya watched the healers run past with alarm.

Vilya saw that Brantalis was seeing to Minatsuki now and turned her attention to the others.
“A gate will beat walking.” She said cheerfully, watching the healers tend to Sai and the last of the creatures. Suddenly she noticed Kin sitting alone, he seemed to be in great discomfort.
She made her way over to him, going to one knee so her face was level with his.
“You look like you’re in pain.” There was concern in her voice, but she kept a distance, knowing at least that Kin was not fond of help.

As Vladamirs energy dissapated his spell broke.

Virgil was right Vladamir was basicly dead on his feet. He stummbled to a wall and slid down into a sitting position. Anyone who walked by would take him as a drunk.

Kin looked up with his eyes as piercing as always. "I said, I'm fine." Kin asserted. "What's wrong with Minatsuki?" Kin asked, diverting attention from himself but maintained his eye contact with Vilya in a serious manner.

Vilya let the topic slide, "Minatsuki seems to be fine, but it looks like she drained a fair amount of energy from two healers. No one's hurt but Brantalis is eager to get everyone back to the castle, can you stand okay?"
She got up slowly, then paused and offered him her hand.
"You know, it's all right to take help sometimes, no one's going to hold it against you."

Once all the dragons were tended to they collected together and one by one, stepped onto the seal. There was a deep blue flash for each one as they disappeared in the middle of the water-like disc.
Tura gave a small groan, Here she was making a comment in general, then she turned to her companion.

With that she raised her wings and took off.

Sai sank to a seat n the ground when Kin let him down. He sat there and allowed the healers to see to him. One of them used their technique on him for several minutes before asking how he felt. Surprised by how much better he felt already he replied that he was fine.

"Thank you." Sai said as he rose to his feet with some support from his staff. "I'm feeling much better. More than well enough to walk to that portal at least."

Sai walked over to where Kin was still sitting, using his staff for support still. He was sure that his ally must be tired as well, though he had refused to accept healing. He had used some very impressive spells during their battle though.

"Kin? Are you ready to head back to the castle?" Sai asked.

Spio said as their target reappeared on the street in almost the same spot he had vanished.

Duhl replied.

Duhl said as he watched Vladamir settle against the side of a nearby building.

Duhl did not wait for a response, nor did he expect on in the first place. He reached his hands into his cloak and moved them so that the flashed out and back in a blur of motion. There were several small flashes and smoke began to pour from those points. The entire street was soon wreathed in thick smoke. Duhl darted forward under the cover of the smoke and grabbed Vladamir. He quickly tied the mans hands and feet before slinging him over his shoulder.

Duhl asked.

Spio responded.

Duhl sprinted back the way had come originally, his target captive and bouncing on his shoulder as he ran. He burst out of the smoke cloud and saw that Spio was right, none of the citizens of the village had emerged from this side of the cloud yet. That could change at any moment though. He continued to sprint and soon came to the building he believed to be abandoned. He set his captive down and quickly pried a few select boards free from the bottom of the doorframe. He pushed Vladamir through the opening and then crawled in himself. He grabbed the unconscious man by his bound wrists and dragged him across the floor as he ventured deeper into the building. He dragged the man to the center of a large room with crates and boxes scattered haphazardously about. There was a large support rafter running across the room about fifteen feet up. Duhl produced another coil of rope and tossed it carefully over the rafter. He hauled Vladamir to his feet and tied him so that he was suspended from the rafter with his hands up above his head and his feet touching the ground only by his toes.

"Well, that aught to keep him from going anywhere for a while." Duhl said when he sensed Spio enter the room, though he had no idea where exactly he was. "Keep an eye on him while I check out the rest of this place."

Spio did not respond, but Duhl knew he would do as he was told. He began to wander the room and then ventured out of the room to reconnoiter the entire building before he would return and await Vladamirs awakening.

Taking Lamen's hand, Minatsuki muttered a thanks with a smile. Raising her eyebrow, Minatsuki scratched her head.

"Healers? Frightened? What?"

Asako cooed weakly, gazing at Minatsuki with worry. Turning to the sage, Minatsuki nodded.

"I seem to be fine now, though I don't know how..."

She smiled, muttering the last part away from the sage, but quickly turned back to him.

((Ugh, the flu is going around, and it's knocking people out left and right. Sadly, I am one of those people. I am sorry to say that my posting will be rather sparse for the next week or so.))

((No worries, I've been fighting the same cold since the day after Christmas. Also I heard from some guys that I work with that this years flu bug is really strong. Apparently there was one day a couple weeks ago, at my old high school, where there were 150 some students home sick all in one day. In a school where the class sizes are only about 25 students and an entire grade is only about 50 students that's getting hit pretty hard.))

((On no! gonk *gives Blood flowers and a get well card* You can beat it! go Blood go!))

Brantalis started for the portal, gesturing for the phoenix to follow, Kusanagi's son fell into step beside him, looking back enthusiastically at Lamen.
"We have the remainder of the festivities to occupy our time." Brantalis spoke to all of them.
"After a short rest and some food of course, my servants will have already made up your dorms, you can all go straight there if you wish."
