Watching him with shimmering eyes, Xanabel presumed that Ifrit looked rather godly with all his fire wisps and she pawed carefully at the one on her nose as if it were a lowly butterfly. She was pleased, to say the least. "I'd really love to see more then!"

Ifrit smiled down at Xanabel and led the way back out easily. He'd been in this cave several times by now. Once back out in the sunlight he shook and scattered the wisps, though the one on Xana's nose settled between her ears and remained when the others disappeared. He paused for a quick rest and to let their eyes adjust to the light again. "It's pretty in the cave... but it's pretty coming out, too." The trees stretched on beyond and just far enough below where they were that they could see the ripple as wind moved across the mountainside and through the branches.

Xanabel noticed her new 'pet' settle amongst her fur and she giggled a little, wondering why he let it stay there and didn't scatter it with the others. Still she was grateful and fascinated at the control he seemed to have. Meanwhile she let her eyes adjust and graze over the view. Her breathe was caught and she found herself amazed to have been standing in a place like this only moments ago. "It's just a change..."

"No two places are ever really the same... so if you can learn to enjoy them all, life never gets boring." Ifrit shrugged off his random profound moment and made ready to head for the river. "Ready to go?"

For a moment, little Xana became swept up in his words like a gust of wind had encircled them and then it died down, as quickly as it'd come. When it was no more and she felt herself firmly amongst the ground-dwellers again she nodded immediately, "Yes, of course!" She was always ready to go, a little thing like her? She was just exploding with excitement.

Ifrit grinned and led the way down toward the river. He was used to moderating his pace to suit his small companion by now and almost didn't have to think about it. The went down the slope for quite a ways, the wisp staying mostly with Xana on the way down, until they reached a clear spot in the trees where there was a bend in the river. There was a small patch of many colors of wild flowers, and the water sparkled in the sun. Fish swam about beneath the surface, and one even snapped at the wisp when it zipped across the water. The wisp apparently decided that it was safer to stay with Xanabel and darted back to rest between her ears again.

Xanabel was pleased with her new little 'companion', if a small wisp was allowed to be called such, and trotted alongside Ifrit quite contentedly. There was nothing better then to see the sights and she was having a grandiose time indeed! Everything was so pretty and there was so much to be seen! She loved and was in awe of everything. Each new sight caught her beautiful eyes and when they finally reached the river, Xana was taken by utter surprise. With an inward gasp she darted to the edge and basked in the wild flowers as she watched the fish swim with the current. Her ears were leaned back as she dipped her paw in the stream playfully, waving her tails back and forth like a young one.
"Oh Ifrit!" She exclaimed. "It's marvelous!"

Ifrit grinned as one of the fish came over to investigate Xana's paw and nibble on one of her toes. "Yeah, it's a great spot, and a good one when you want to sit by yourself or with just a friend or two. Not a lot of people seem to know about this particular spot either. I seem to be good at finding places like that for some reason." He wagged his tails and found a spot along the river bank to stretch out and lay down. "It's lots of fun to watch the fish try to catch bugs and chase eachother around, too."

There was a small giggle as Xanabel teased the fish by waving her little paw back and forth. Her eyes were wide with childish fascination. To her, the world was a completely amazing place. There were no evils tainting her innocence and if her father had everything he wanted, there never would be. Looking up from her game she watched Ifrit as he stretched out. He really was quite possibly the largest kitsu she'd ever seen, and she was all the more amused by him. "It's amazing... and so beautiful... how calm everything is. I enjoy it very much!"

At this point Ifrit was feeling rather relaxed and... really all he wanted to do was watch Xana play with the fish and marvel over the wonder of her innocent nature and how beautiful she was. But... he also didn't want to make her nervous, so he decided perhaps he'd play with the fish too. He grabbed a long piece of grass with a tuft of seeds at the end of it and started poking at the water with it. Some of the fish came over to grab at the water where the tuft was only to come away with empty mouths as he pulled the grass away before they could grab it and find out it wasn't a bug.

When he moved, he did so gracefully, she noticed. But he was playful and kind too. It was so strange. She hadn't known what to expect of other kitsu, but certainly not this. Not this overly large orange-ish creature that was as playful as she herself even was. Only half of her mind cared though, the other half was extremely preoccupied in giggling. It was simply hilarious that the fish were falling for it! Though after a moment she found it rather cruel. They were hungry too.
When she could control her giggles, she beamed at the fishes, "Oh I do wish I had something to give them... there's only so much you can tease. Fish get disappointed too." She spoke serenely with a care for a creature she herself liked to eat. It was strange indeed.

"Well... if we had some bug-catching nets we might could catch them some lunch. Or we could just let nature its thing and let them catch their own. Both ways probably work well enough for the fish. ...Or maybe we could grab some bread from HQ and tear it up in little pieces and toss it on the water to see if they'd like it." He set the piece of grass down and shrugged, still grinning. "What do you think?"

All the ideas and possibilities made her head swirl and she looked overjoyed by the fact that he'd come up with ways to help the fish too. "Hm... I really don't want to leave just yet... we could ... er... 'let nature do its thing'." She said quoting him. That was not particularly something she would say and it rolled off her tongue in an odd manner. She flicked her ears forward, hoping she hadn't made a fool of herself.

Ifrit just nodded and pointed out over the water. "Watch, then. It might take a minute, but it's actually pretty neat." And it did take a minute, but finally a couple of flies drifted close enough to the water's surface for the fish to "spit" at them. It was like they fired a mini-watergun, and the stunned insects dropped to the water's surface where the fish quarreled briefly over who got to gobble them down and then disappeared into little fishy mouths. The process was repeated in various places at various intervals as a few different varieties of flying insects got too close to the water for their own good.
((I forget where the fish that actually do that really live, but we can pretend in kitsu-land. ;D))

(( @.@ That's pretty cool. Spitting fish ftw yo. ))
Xana was leaning down close to the flowery banks, watching the water with all the attention span and concentration she could muster as she saw what the fish did and jumped up in shock, her eyes wide. "Wow!" That was certainly something extremely new to her for she'd never seen fish that caught their food that way. In fact... she really couldn't recall knowing of many fish that ate insects. Things were so very educational and amazing once she got the chance to really see. "...that's so... wow..." That was really all she could say.
