Hm... I wonder why he wears the blue suit at all. He looks so much better in brown. ><; At least in 42 it didn't look blue because of all the lights.

The Blue Suit is an evil alien in disguise trying to destroy the Doctor--or is just heavily into Sadism. lol

I partly liked this episode because it is, i suppose, part of the doctor's character development- seeing what it's like to become human. However, the chameleon arch, or whatever it's called was the most obvious plot device i've ever seen. How can someone just change their species? That is bulls**t. It does set up the Master's return, though, so it's forgivable since he's such a great character.

The guy who played Baines looked a lot like Cillian Murphy who played the villains in Batman Begins and Red Eye! I had to look in the credits to see that it wasn't him. biggrin

Wow.
I just saw Human Nature and it was, frankly, fantastic!
John Smith is quite a different character to the Doctor, and Tennant does a superb job at playing the former.
It reminded me a lot of the stuff from the 80's (yes, that's a good thing). It was a smaller scale episode in which the Doctor believes that he is a school teacher called John Smith from 1913, having lost his memory of being a Time Lord. Martha is a servent who still remembers everything, and gets jealous when John falls for another woman.
And it had killer scarecrows in it. Sort of like The Mark of the Rani, in which the Master is disguised as a scarecrow (but...why?).
And that guy who played Baines did a fantastic job.
All in all, a brilliant episode; I'll give this one 5/5, just like last week's ep, the underrated 42.
Man, I need a lie down...

[Ramek] xX_Sugar Narcotic_Xx Bestest Episode so far this series! BY FAR! I loveloveloveloveloved it! AND I have offically sided with Martha! I know like her, I mean I liked her before, I thought she was an ok-ish companion, wasn't terrribly keen on her at the start and for quite a while, but now I properly like her! she, apparently now CAN think for herself! =D yey for Martha! And I loved the period clothing, and the scarecrows! Finally a good scary monster! And was anyone terribly shocked when watching the next episode preiview, or was that just me? I know! Doctor babies! That better not really happen. I hope it's another one of John Smith's dreams, or I will slaughter RTD. hear hear!!

Takuha Before I give my review I'd just like to say sorry to roobarb and hairy priest and any other admins who don't like me using obscene language, please don't ban me for what I'm about to say. I have to say that was the biggest pile of SH*TE that I have ever looked forward to seeing. It wasn't a doctor who episode, it was documentary on school life a year before the war with some aliens thrown in and a physcic kid. Now for the list of things that p*ssed me the hell off in this episode. 1) Why the hell did Martha leave the watch with the doctor!?! It was obvious that something would happen to it if it was left on a mntle piece where anyone could take it. 2) Why is it that everyone who was attacked by the scarecrows didn't seem to be cabable of running? The fat man from the mustard advert had two scarecrows slowly stumbling towards him and what does he do? He stands in one place and shouts, and the little girl was infront of the scarecrow by a clear few feet, so what does she do? Turn around and stop walking of course. 3) If the aliens were made of gas then why the hell do the have guns? They can't pick them up and they can't fire them, so where's the bloody point? 4) What kind of retarded alien leaves the door open on their space ship for people to walk in? 5) Why was the doctor so stupid as to erase his memory when he became human? He just needed to appear human, he could just of easily of done that with his old brain. 6) What is the point of using scarecrows as minions? They're probably the slowest aliens in the hole of the new series, and besides walking like mr Bean with two giant blocks of ice on his feet, they can't do anything. 7) I don't have a reason for this, but the hole "falling in love with maitron" thing really did my head in. 8. Did no one else feel that at the end of the 45 minutes that absolutely nothing had been accomplished in the episode? All that anyone did in the episode was practically go oh my god the doctors human, now lets find some aliens, Oh my god your watch is gone, aaaaaarg they're gonna kill us because they don't seem to get the message that you don't know that you r A FRIGGIN TIMELORD!!!!!!! !!!!!!! !!!!!!! !!!!!!! evil scream I think thats about it... I'm going to watch it again tonight so I'll either decide that it isn't so bad, or I'll come up with even more things to hate about it. All in all I think that this was a huge let down and a waste of 45 minutes of my life. I gotta agree with you about the scarecrows, i was like "what the hell!!" But well the episode as a whole at least had a bit of a change.

I loved Tennant's acting in this episode. You can see a big difference during when he is human and when he is not, although the character of John Smith has all the traits of the doctor.
Martha leaving the watch with the doctor is the only thing I'm iffy about, I think she should have left it in the tardis. xd

mmmm I kinda agree with you, there were quite a few plot holes, - the watch especially... I didn't like the changing species thing either...
I thought the episode went quite slowly, and I HATE THE SCARECROWS I mean seriously, scarecrows?? ... ... just no.
Still, I really want to see the next epi just to see what happens, getting married and such... they made it look like he has a kid on the preview but I seriously doubt that. I don't really like aliens that much, I think they could have done better with the whole.... ... you know, adaption from the book/ plot/ whatever you want to call it. Not a great episode really, but it was watchable.

Anakoreta Sepik Man... Those writers this season... Seem to have suddenly developed a fanfiction writer's joy of 'TORTURE THE MAIN CHARACTERS~' All that I can say is that I agree, let's see the Doctor has: -Had his blood sucked out/then promptly passed out -Had one of his hearts stop -Been exposed to really, really bad pollution (Gridlock) -Been Electrocuted/Hit by lightning -Almost eaten/killed by some scorpion humanoid -Had a living sun burn him from the inside out -And now the events of Human Nature and quite possibly Family of Blood
So... who ever is writing the script now, sure has some sadistic tendencies.
Sepik They must have hired a fanfiction writer Truer words were never spoken. rofl mrgreen xd
I couldn't help but get mad at the Doctor for talking to Martha like that.
And the watch..when it was opened for the first time, I heard someone saying "you are not alone" only it wasn't the voice of the Face of Boe..and a bunch of other stuff that calls for some closer attention. I'm gonna re-watch the episode/find the quotes, (stupid 2-week wait for Family of Blood) because that watch seems to be giving off a lot of foreshadowing.... eek

Has anyone here sen Invader Zim? They say that when they were looking for voice actors, they basically just phoned 'em up and said, "Scream." If they did a good scream, they got the job.
Who thinks they did the same thing to DT? The Doctor gets rebuilt cell-by-cell, shrieking the whole time, and as if that's not enough, he also falls over backwards down some stairs.
Honestly. He gets tortured. All. The. Time. I just want to snuggle him and make it all better. sad

The poor guy. All of that makes me not-so-mad at him for treating Martha the way he did. He's literally out-of-his-mind... sad Poor Martha, having to put up with that.
EDIT: And that's the first time in a while I've seen the Tardis ceiling.. 0_o
