Wow. eek

EDIT: Whoah. The thread changed itself...i don't remember making a poll...

That episode was AMAZING. Really felt it for Martha. Must have been awful for her. Right now, I just want to beat the doctor John Smith, because he is an absolute a**. We want our timelord back!

But seriously. The scarecrows. WAY creepy. The fact that they didn't talk made them even scarier... eek .

Family of Blood...Baines is gorgeous. He is. Really. I love him to death. Can't wait for next week.

So. Discuss
~The episode....

Bestest Episode so far this series! BY FAR! I loveloveloveloveloved it!

AND I have offically sided with Martha! I know like her, I mean I liked her before, I thought she was an ok-ish companion, wasn't terrribly keen on her at the start and for quite a while, but now I properly like her! she, apparently now CAN think for herself! =D
yey for Martha!

And I loved the period clothing, and the scarecrows! Finally a good scary monster!

And was anyone terribly shocked when watching the next episode preiview, or was that just me?

unfortunatly this episode annoyed me., but thats partly because it was a two parter and im too impatient to wait til next week.

also because it was so excruciating to see the doctor like that sad But i must say it is a very intresting new type of episode, but personally i prefer the other eones sad

can't wait till next week when it'll all be solved, thats when i'll be able to properly appreciate the episode when all this terribleness has been solved sad

I know! Doctor babies! That better not really happen. I hope it's another one of John Smith's dreams, or I will slaughter RTD.

This was a great episode, I thought. Okay, so the idea of a family of hunters that can follow your scent through time and space is a bit of a stretch, but still, they're kind of interesting. Especially that creepy-looking Baines guy. And the scarecrows were cool, too.

Nice little in-joke about John Smith's parents 'Sydney' and 'Verity' (an homage to Doctor Who's creator Sydney Newman and its first producer, Verity Lambert).

I only hope the 2nd episode lives up to the first part.

Yes, I knew it was a good episode when it ended with the cliffhanger and screamed "NOOOOOOOOOO" at the television set. ^^;; Probably the most worked up I've been watching a Doctor Who episode in a long time (especially when Martha smacked him). And yes, I hope the next episode lives up to it's predecessor.

Can someone tell me what exactly was the point of those scarecrows?

The episode was saved by Baines and the delightlful Jessica Hynes (has she changed her name lately? Hmm.) as Nurse Redfern. Martha just came of as hugely irritating with her CONSTANT ANGSTING OVER AN ALIEN. Seriously, next week would be a great time to cut loose all that dead wood and take on a classier companion >.>

The Family need to stop all that 'mother of mine' nonsense as well. Once was creepy, but hearing the whole lot of them talk like that's just overkill.

Overall this felt a bit like some very unnecessary padding to what will probably be a fecking awesome episode next week. I blame the ridiculous plot, personally. Magic DNA hat, my arse xD

Before I give my review I'd just like to say sorry to roobarb and hairy priest and any other admins who don't like me using obscene language, please don't ban me for what I'm about to say.

I have to say that was the biggest pile of SH*TE that I have ever looked forward to seeing. It wasn't a doctor who episode, it was documentary on school life a year before the war with some aliens thrown in and a physcic kid. Now for the list of things that p*ssed me the hell off in this episode.

1) Why the hell did Martha leave the watch with the doctor!?! It was obvious that something would happen to it if it was left on a mntle piece where anyone could take it.
2) Why is it that everyone who was attacked by the scarecrows didn't seem to be cabable of running? The fat man from the mustard advert had two scarecrows slowly stumbling towards him and what does he do? He stands in one place and shouts, and the little girl was infront of the scarecrow by a clear few feet, so what does she do? Turn around and stop walking of course.
3) If the aliens were made of gas then why the hell do the have guns? They can't pick them up and they can't fire them, so where's the bloody point?
4) What kind of retarded alien leaves the door open on their space ship for people to walk in?
5) Why was the doctor so stupid as to erase his memory when he became human? He just needed to appear human, he could just of easily of done that with his old brain.
6) What is the point of using scarecrows as minions? They're probably the slowest aliens in the hole of the new series, and besides walking like mr Bean with two giant blocks of ice on his feet, they can't do anything.
7) I don't have a reason for this, but the hole "falling in love with maitron" thing really did my head in.
8. Did no one else feel that at the end of the 45 minutes that absolutely nothing had been accomplished in the episode? All that anyone did in the episode was practically go oh my god the doctors human, now lets find some aliens, Oh my god your watch is gone, aaaaaarg they're gonna kill us because they don't seem to get the message that you don't know that you r A FRIGGIN TIMELORD!!!!!!! !!!!!!! !!!!!!! !!!!!!! evil scream

I think thats about it... I'm going to watch it again tonight so I'll either decide that it isn't so bad, or I'll come up with even more things to hate about it.

All in all I think that this was a huge let down and a waste of 45 minutes of my life.

The moment I heard about how he'd drawn Eight, I knew someone was going to say that! You have my deepest sympathies. But he's canon now, suckers! *has not seen TVM as such, but... well, he's pretty... sweatdrop *

Once again i disagree with everything Takuha has said.

Funny tha'.

Anyway, episode rawked, and then on confidential, they were playing s**t music, but then they played knights of cydonia, so s'all good.

I think this is more a "what would a maid be doing with a man's watch/an expensive (ish) timepiece she could never afford SHE STOLE IT."

I liked the episode, but yeah...I don't want to get all tl;dr about it. (Matronluv was a bit no, though.)
