ATTN! I have a few annoucements. These are extremely important so make sure you read this entire post. Firstly, a new Quidditch referee has been chosen for the Winter Term. PhilbertTenderbean has been chosen, and myself as well as all the other mods are confident he will perform his duties nicely. Head on over to the Quidditch Pitch to get to know the new rules of Quidditch and participate in the practice game . Secondly today is the beginning of the official sorting. Our Head Elf, IceeWitch, has asked me to remind house-elves to make sure they have met the requirements for sorting before submitting the test. Our sorters will be checking, and if requirements have not been met (and you posted) then you will not be able to be sorted until January. Any member who were not members of the guild before November 30, 2007 will not qualify. If you are unsure of your join date, please PM me, Professor_Adonis A final reminder: The new calendar has been released. All dates are final. Quidditch matches will be scheduled as the term goes on, so if you are keen to play or watch pay attention to the subforum, and continue to check the Entrance Hall for updates. Thank you for reading this message. The next week will be moving swiftly so please make sure you check annoucements daily.

WHOA, WHOA, WHOOOOAAAAA!!!! Did everyone get a little tired from the Pajama bash we just celebrated?? (Please note that the event will end on Wednesday, December 19, 2007) Am I the only one excited here? What is going on?? I thought you were supposed to be excited when Start of Term was this close??? The Hogwarts Express is chugging away, yet not many people have boarded yet. (Hurry up and board people! You're gonna miss all the fun!) Did everyone forget about everything the calendar mentioned? We are having our official sorting! That means there'll be lots of new first years bustling about... the common rooms should be flourishing! Get in their and show some school spirit. Ok... the pajama party had me a bit fired up. (Sorry, a few pillows could excite anyone) I'm not hype anymore. *clears throat and gets into serious "announcement" mood* Start of Term is here! Which means that the Start of Term feast will be beginning in the special form of the Holiday Masquerade Ball! (see my handsome mask?) Things may be running a bit behind schedule, but I assure you it's to deliver you the best quality that our Heads (who have got to be tired) can give! Seeing as I never know exactly what's happening, until I'm there... I'd check this thread to see what our planners are cooking up. This term will feature many exciting things for our students and house-elves this year! What are they? I'm not telling! (yet) Please continue to check here for important updates regarding the new term. If I, Professor Adonis, know one thing about this guild it's that you never want to be left out of all the fun! So check here, and we'll keep you posted. Stay tuned, and remind your friends/housemates/whomever too! Alright with that, remember our brand new motto! (Well it's temporary) "We're moving on up to steeper heights! One year (term) at a time!"

This message comes directly from our Quidditch Referee, PhilbertTenderbean (with minor variations in the ways he said it). It regards Quidditch! We're are having it this term, and I'm sure it'll be a success!
Quidditch "Try-Outs" are currently underway! Teams still need to be formed (including the captain positions). If you have no idea about anything (in regards to Quidditch) I suggest you visit the Quidditch Pitch and brush up on a few of the posts detailed by PhilbertTenderbean
Important things to remember: *The first game begins December 31, 2007* *There is currently a trial game (no strings) being demonstrated* *The minimum number of Quidditch players on a team is 1, and the maximum is 8

The final and most stylish event of 2007 has arrived! All the members have brought out their finest evening wear to participate in The Holiday Masquerade! Not only that, but they're even wearing masks!! The faces aren't the only thing that's hidden this year. With the Givers and Disguises (hosted by Kaelyn_giselle and the_cereal_queen) and the YuleTide Mystery pure secrecy defines this event! However New Year 2008, all will be revealed! Will you be there when all the secrets of the year are revealed? I hope so!
(While we understand about gold issues we strongly emphasize the importance of a mask in this term's event. If you are unable to afford a mask then please PM me, and I will supply you with one. My supply is limited and it's not much, just a regular MASQUE, but we want everyone to participate in this event! It is our final one of the year, and the first one of the term! It is also a great place to earn house-points and awards! What are the awards? Well it's a Masquerade, so who knows?

Because it's Christmas Eve, and also because I'm the Headmaster I am, I have posted the following message in the main subforums ( Spinner's End, Heard it in the Hallway, Around Hogwarts). All those messages will be removed in a week. This recollection will be all that remains of my generosity! In case you're one of those members who don't visit the Entrance Hall as often as you should (shame on you!)... I'm heading around the guild and posting this in all the subforums for your conveniance! Aren't I the best Headmaster in the entire world? I know, I know... Anyway we're holding a very special event right now! Why is The Holiday Masquerade so special? Well because it is the final event of the year 2007, but it's also the beginning of our Winter Term! Everyone's wearing masks, and you need one too! (If you don't have one, then PM me and I'll supply you with one of the extra ones I have [limited supply]). The Holiday Masquerade includes two very exciting features this year other than dancing and chatting!Givers and Disguises (hosted by Kaelyn_giselle and the_cereal_queen) and the YuleTide Mystery are sure to give you the utmost delight.
Finally I want to give you a small heads up! HPGoG will be hosting it's first ever Guild Survivor (hosted by Slytherin's Head of House, Angilwingz) Angilwingz has now opened it for sign-ups! I assume that she'll be releasing more and more details as we get closer to the event!
Now I have finished so head on over and flaunt your masks in The Holiday Masquerade!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! "What's wrong Professor Adonis?" you may ask.... well every thing's going wrong right now! It's New Year's Day, and that should be cause for celebration! Well for the most part it is! However, after I left the Hall of the Masked, I ventured into the Halls of Learning. Imagine my ultimate shock, when I noticed there were hardly any classrooms open! There are still loads of classes available, which means there's no one there teaching them! I noticed that a few of my teachers have returned again, but where are all the others?? If they aren't going to return, then I'll need someone else to fill their shoes!
The Masquerade Ball ends soon, and that means classes will be up (Jan. 7). What will the students be able to learn if many of the most prized subjects still have vacancies?? I'm afraid that I won't be able to solve this problem before classes begin!
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!
----------------------- If you are interested in helping Professor Adonis solve this problem, please fill out an application found here. If you would like to know more about becoming a teacher, please PM IceeWitch
or
Alutian.

In two days... Classes begin!! I know you guys must have a lot of questions, and because I do too, I'm going to answer a couple of them. In case you have a bigger question that I'm not answering here, then ask it in the S.F.Q. I guarantee you that someone in this guild will answer you quickly. Anyway, first question: Why hasn't Quidditch started?? Well the answer to that has already been answered by PhilbertTenderbean, our Quidditch Ref! To play Quidditch you need Quidditch players. We currently do not have enough. You can help solve this problem by heading over to the Quidditch Pitch! Currently we only have 5 Slytherins, 2 Gryffindors, 2 Ravenclaws, and no Hufflepuffs (<--- Oo). You can't start Quidditch without a full team! So eager Quidditch players, contact your Housemates and get them involved! I want to see a Quidditch game sometime soon! Don't make me have to join a team! (House-elves are welcomed to try-out also) Second Question: Why aren't there that many classes up? Again this is something that all of the sorted members of HPGoG can help solve! How? By heading over to the Halls of Learning! So far only the members of my busy staff (other than squishtastic psycho pop) have volunteered to help fill the void of magical knowledge. Still even with them all teaching a course, and in Professor Angilwingz's case two, many classes still don't have teachers! How can we have a term without Transfiguration, Charms, and Herbology? Well if no one applies for the job, we'll be finding out soon.
And that's all the time I have for today's Answer a Question segment! Have a wonderful weekend, Professor Adonis

Good evening all! I bet you're wondering why there hasn't been an announcement in ages... well because I wanted to give it to you all at once! (Warning: It's a lot) There's plenty of things going on so I'll break it down into little paragraphs. (Classes, Elves, Quidditch, Guild Survivor, a few FYIs, Operation Scourgify and House-Points)
Well as of now we have six classes open for this term! That includes the new Elf Class taught by IceeWitch! Unfortunately Charms and Transfiguration are not included in those classes. If you are interested in applying, please visit this thread. Also for more information on the classes stroll into the Halls of Learning. Classes earn you House Points! The last date for a Teaching Application will be February 1, 2008.
Quidditch still hasn't officially started. Well change that! We need full teams (house-elves are encouraged to play!) to begin a game. As an extra incentive so that we can get at least one game going, the first two Houses with a fully organized time (by PhilbertTenderbean's standards) will receive 10 House Points. Might not seem like a lot, but in the long run it will mean everything! In the meantime though a Quidditch tournament with our new system seems unlikely. Therefore we want you to get involved in the Practice Games! In practice games everyone plays together(Slytherins & Gryffindors)!
The following announcements regarding house-elves come directly from IceeWitch (well I might have forgotten some things...) Early Sorting begins tomorrow! IceeWitch has re-listed the requirements (which can be found in any thread describing sorting) in the Pear. She asks that you PM her to discuss your eligibility, and any questions. There is also an elf class. All new members are encouraged to join... it'll help you learn a bit about how this guild works. Finally, IceeWitch has alerted me that she has wishes of re-designing the School Kitchens. She never told me when that'd be, but to mention it. Consider it mentioned.
Reminder to all: Angilwingz, Slytherin's Head of House is hosting HPGoG Guild Survivor! The grand prize is 20K! Wait...it's too late for you to join if you haven't already! Never fear, head over to the Event subforum and cheer on your guild mates anyway. Before you do that though, PM Angilwingz to find out if it's okay.
HPGoG's House Point competition for Winter Term 2008 is officially underway! Slytherin took the crown last term (#6), who will take it this time around? Only you guys know! Ways to earn house points include: taking classes, participating in events, and sucking up wink Check your point totals here.
The final part of this message I'm cutting short. The longer, detailed message will follow at a later date (I'm quite tired after typing all this). Operation Scourgify is getting nearer. It begins Monday (tentative). I was going to give you guys a few simple reminders about the guild, but I'll do that later.
I might have forgotten something, can't remember what, which is why I forgot it! See I told you it was lots going on.
Enjoy! Professor "A" (The Bestest Headmaster in the world!)

Allow me to clarify:
This is not a regular sorting, this is an early sorting. Early sortings are those special times we allow a select, qualified group to post their test answers and get sorted. These are members who have been posting lots, and have been overly eager. Once sorted these people are sure to help the student population in a good honest way because they're as eager as anybody. It doesn't mean they're better than you, it just means that being an elf for another 4 weeks would only hold them back because they already understand how the guild works. If you've just joined the guild three days ago, don't expect to be sorted. If you are still confused about what the requirements are please read the post I've made in the Giggling Pear.

A Message for All:
Operation Scourgify was supposed to start in January. Well now it's February, and as of now, it still has not started. I'm here to let everyone know, EVERYONE, that this is your last chance. There are members who haven't posted in months, and if you know of one of those members, well PM them. It will save the Heads a lot of trouble.
Well in order for this operation to be successful we will need your cooperation. Stay tuned, our memberslist is about to dwindle down.
