Intro to HPGoG taught by the Head Elf

I am your instructor, Alicia Elf. Does the name sound familiar?? Well it should be because I'm also the Head Elf. I decided to finally take a bigger role in helping the elves get acquainted with the guild and this is the perfect way to do it! Now this course is only for those elves who want to be good elves, and move up to the student position, or stay an elf (like me) and serve masters and misses all the same. This is the only class (as of now) restricted to House-Elves.
Please note: My Gaia life (I can't believe I have to say I have one) and my RL (and that's about 6 lives in one) are both extremely hectic. I will do my best to update this class. When I'm on Gaia I am usually extremely busy handling guild concerns. However my first priority was to help the elves and it's time I get my priorities straight. With that said, each lesson will stay up a minimum of 7 days, and a maximum of 20 days.
Thanks, read on!

If you've already read the Giggling Pear (if not, do it NOW), then you know that any elf class is important. Why? Because it can help you get sorted! All you have to do is complete a few lessons... I decided to add some extra incentives in completing lessons! Instead of the previous Cooking/Cleaning courses, I've added this new course specifically to make sure that newer members know what they're doing. I hope to make this class fun, but also a nice learning experience. Right now all of the elves are important because you all may very soon be students in our guild! I want to show you the fun aspects of it all!
The class will work in three sections: Introduction (taught exclusively by me) Cleaning Cooking
Current Course study is Introduction. This course will include lessons focused on different areas, a practical exam (*yay*), and an actual quiz (not too bad, eh?) Since it's so much to do in this guild, we may get to Cooking and Cleaning, and we may not... ninja

Lesson Four I don't want to mess up, so what can't I do?
Well there are some rules, and we at HPGoG do not think it's too much. We like order, and there are a few rules to help us with the order. I'm not about to go over all of the guild rules because you should have read them before joining this guild. If you haven't then please read the second post. There are a few rules/guidelines that I've found have been ignored/forgotten lately. Well I'll remind you of a few. Very soon our guild will be going through a process we label "Operation Scourgify". It's where we take a few members who haven't posted in months off our lists. Simply put: Those members are banned (not permanently, just until they meet the posting requirements). The posting requirement minimum is five posts. That's not a lot! It takes less than FIVE MINUTES to make that requirement. What rule did I just go over? You must post. It's not an outrageous demand. Another rule, and I should have placed this first, is that AT ALL TIMES you must respect everyone in the guild. By respecting people it means you respect their opinions and whatnot also. Just because you might not agree with someone, does not mean you have to be rude about it. Please don't be rude. That's to everyone, not just mods. Here in HPGoG everyone has a voice that can be heard. *twitch* Spam is to HPGoG as a dirty Great Hall would be to the Hogwarts' house-elves. It is simply disgusting. Sure we understand you might slip and make a spam/repeated post. However, our understanding is limited. If a single person continues to make the same mistake (as mods we send out PMs) we'll start to think it's deliberate, and a punishment will have to happen. If you're unsure if your post (creating new threads particularly) is spam or not, then ASK. Every moderator has their PMs open, not just me. House Colors! This is the rule I think many new members hate the most. I know many people like those colors of blue, red, orange, and green. I personally like blue, but because house members are required to post in their house-colors, elves cannot. Otherwise it'd be pretty confusing. There are so many colors available that are closely related to the four House colors. Why not just try one of them? Lesson Four is coming to a close, but I have one more rule to mention. HOUSE COMMON ROOMS ARE NO MANS LAND UNLESS YOU OFFICIALLY BELONG TO THAT HOUSE. Yes, I put the caps lock on ya. That is really important. No member is allowed to go inside, let alone post, in another common room. That's forbidden. Sure we allow everyone into our neat little area, but that's how we mingle with the students! So for no reason at all should you go inside a House Common Room. Yep that's it. If there are ever any questions about a rule, PM a moderator. Homework: 1) There is a thread where a banning process was mentioned during the summer. Find that thread. (Hint: The thread is currently dead.) 2) HPGoG loves it when guild members get involved. Before Valentine's Day you will need to make a post in the SFQ. Please make sure it's either a suggestion or feedback (positive and negative welcomed). We want to hear from you. (Note: There's no link because you should know where to find it now) Remember to send homework to katkepin, not IceeWitch.

If you missed a lesson, never fear for you can catch up reading here! *Note lessons will be placed here when the next lesson is posted Lesson Two/Three
HPGoG: I'm Confused! Subforums?
Now that we know what an elf is, what about this guild? The last lesson focused on the moderators. One person, syndar24 (congrats), correctly gave me exactly what I was looking for, although all the other answers were fine too.
Moderators *Professor_Adonis, Headmaster, headmaster * KTweirdchick, Deputy Headmistress, Hufflepuff * Junimaia, Head of Hufflepuff House, Hufflepuff * Angilwingz, Head of Slytherin House, Slytherin * Miss Love Tantei, Head of Gryffindor House, Gryffindor * Alutian, Head of Ravenclaw House, Ravenclaw * IceeWitch, Head Elf, elf
Now since we're acquainted with the highest authorities of the guild, let's get to know the guild aspects. SUBFORUMS! Currently there are eight, which includes the main subforum, and not the Moderator Subforum. Please note that a majority of this information I am about to tell you can be found in the Entrance Hall. The Care-Takers OfficeThis subforum consists of SFQs (suggestions, feedback, and questions), the Hour Glasses, and a thread where the mods keep updated versions of your post totals. That's important because our guild has a rule that says you have to post 5 times in a month, or you'll be banned. sad Moderators are constantly in the SFQ, so never hesitate to post there. Here in HPGoG every member has a voice. USE IT! Around HogwartsOne of the most fun subforums! It's where most of the everyday mingling takes place. It's the role-play subforum! All of the common rooms are located in this subforum (which means that if you need to ask a quick question, your Head can answer it). I know you guys know where your common room is. There's also clubs, and a few random roleplays. Don't be afraid to participate in those because as an elf, you CAN! I recommend the Dueling Club for trivia-tastic fun! Halls of Learning Your current location. As an elf this subforum is pretty insignificant, but as a student it's soo much more. It's the place where you get all of your magical learning! The best part is by enrolling in classes you get House Points. However, for an elf, it holds some importance because there's a really special class that's being held for the newer members of the guild. I wonder where that is? Quidditch PitchThis is home to Quidditch! PhilbertTenderbean is our Referee, and if you have any questions head over to his realm. Did I mention elves are encouraged to participate? Heard it in the HallwayHeard what? Everything! This is the discussion subforum! Got something you want to share with your guild members, that can be discussed? Well then post it! Make a thread. This is where all members can get together and show their ideas, regardless if they're new, old, or barely active. If you really want to get to know the crazy members of this guild, visit here...
(The Other Subforums)
Now the last lesson focused on the primary subforums. Even though all of our subforums are important, the previous ones mentioned is where you'll find the most guild interaction. These next few are informative, but guild-wide in a way. I don't want to make this lesson longer than it is, so without further ado, the other subforums: The 2626: This is our mainsubforum! It's important! Why? Because it has the Entrance Hall, the Sorting Hat, the Welcome Thread, the ID Thread, the Student Message Board, and much more to come! It's a lot I know, which is exactly why members aren't allowed to create topics in that subforum. You're allowed to post in a thread, but don't create one (in that subforum only) Spinners End This is the games subforum! I'm sure this is where most of you post. No one is active in this guild 24 hours a day... and when you happen to be in the guild during one of those times where no one else is here (after homework and all that other stuff is done) what do you do? You play games! Event Forum Where guild events happen! If you notice that the moderators are planning stuff, which they are, and have no idea where it will be, then this is your answer! All events/big contests are held in this subforum. It's important! This is one of the subforums that the guild will be improving in days to come. This subforum also holds previous events the guild has held (which are locked and dated by Month and Year) The White Tomb This subforum is our timeline, so to speak. It holds the history of our guild. From every "first" thread, to much, much more... come here and do some reading to find out about all the crazies (j/k) who created this place. Oh, I forgot to mention there's a Trophy Room coming soon! The Moderators Subforum There's no link here because members don't have access to it. Not sure what goes on here ninja Since everything is out in the open in HPGoG, I think nothing!
And that concludes Lesson 3. Homework: Tell me your favorite subforum and why. You can mention your favorite thread in that subforum also (4-5 sentences) Practical: With your paragraph please send me a link to the event held in October. All answers should be sent to katkepin, not IceeWitch. Lesson One
What is an Elf? What Should an Elf know?
A very simple question to answer! An elf is... a new member who hasn't been sorted yet OR a member who hasn't been sorted yet. In short: An elf is anyone who has not qualified to take the Sorting Test!
Being an elf is not a bad thing though. Elves can do many things that students do, such as play Quidditch, take a class (specifically this one only), roleplay, discuss, participate in guild events, and play guild games. Elves even have the equivalent to a common room: The Giggling Pear. What makes the Pear even better is that students often visit it, so an elf should never get too lonely.
Any elf who has read the Giggling Pear knows enough information to be an elf. It's okay to make mistakes (unknowingly) a few times since you're new. However if the moderators ( Angilwingz, Junimaia, Miss Love Tantei, Alutian, and Professor Adonis) feel that they have given enough reminders, punitive (punishments) consequences will occur. Even a banning is possible. However for the most part that has never happened!
Homework Your homework includes a practical and a question! 1) Make a post in the Giggling Pear introducing yourself (or your RP character) 2) PM me the moderators and their positions (include their houses) Ex: IceeWitch, Head Elf, elf [No Longer accepted] Questions? PM me!
