We could always use the comic book excuse for mass-shifting... the extra matter is shunted to or taken from an alternate dimension (like Ant-Man).

Of course that just makes the pseudo-science sound even worse than it already is...

I feel I have to make a complaint on this....somebody said something about him changing in mass, but there was so much hollow space that there wasn't so much a difference....and yes, offering that explanation IS a little far fetched....but it was neat, offered a "just don't pay attention and everything will be fine" answer to what was happening, and was just plain COOL!!!!

Well, if that were true, the Doctor could have just stuck Lazarus with a big needle and deflated him like a balloon... mrgreen

I'm finding that Martha's family doesn't annoy me as much as Rose's. Except for Martha's mom. God, did I want to throttle her. But her brother was kind of amusing, and Tish is kinda hot. If I was the Doctor, I'd have invited her to tag along, too...
about the balloon part...hehe!!! that would rock...but birds bones are hollow, and they don't deflate....The skin was thin, but tough....just cause...it's like I was saying before...just sit back and accept it....

I agree with you about her family...I really like her brother...He has a sense of humor! Her mum is annoying and jumping to conclusions...its silly!!!

I second herbrother is gigglesome and her sis is pretty awesome not to flip out i mean after being chased like that by a huge whatcha ma call it would rattle me to say the least. The saxon thing has gotten me all yay! I stared jumping on my couch which made my brother go eek
I had o explainthe whole theory and he just called me sad. Well.....
ZOMG JACK YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY sorry about that.....
lets hope he future episodes dont dissapoint!!!

:XP: I'm kinda amazed so many of you think this episode is great. I found it just an average-level monster episode. rolleyes This guy doesn't compare at all to the guy turning into a monster in Arc in Space. Now THERE was a human becoming a monster but clinging to his humanity right to the end! This guy was a monster and WANTED to be. Big whoop. Found the hints of trouble to come with somebody poisoning Martha's mom against the Doctor (& trying to monitor her conversation with Martha and through it maybe track down the Doctor's location in time & space?) More interesting than the main plot.

Now this is more like it. Six episodes in, and we haven't really seen Martha's family until now (well I guess we did see them briefly in Smith and Jones).

Just look at how often we had to put up with Jackie and Mickey in the first and second seasons.

It's not that I don't like them, they were just in it way too much.

(Rose's mum was in the first season episodes Rose, The End of the World, Aliens of London, World War Three, Father's Day and the Parting of the Ways. Too much, to sum it up in two words. This is Doctor Who, for crying out loud, not Eastenders!)

As for The Lazarus Experiment, I thought it was pretty good, but it reminded me very strongly of the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Too Short a Season.

I think it was one of the better eps in this series, but it still didn't overwhelm. The science was ridiculous, though. "a dormant gene"...whatever!

Yeah, I agree with you on that one.
Hehe, go the polarity quote though...

And (not sure if its been mentioned and there's no way I'm going through 4 pages to find out) did you guys notice THE NEW KEY?
WELL I certainly did... it... didn't... look like the TARDIS key! It just looked like a plain old normal key and I was just like ''HEY-...
... yeah... otherwise it was ok.

Well I think it was a different key anyway...

This episode kinda reminds me of an older doctor who episode. I liked this episode more then the others with Martha.

i LOVED the part in the church, when the doctors telling Lazerous how living forevers not great-the part when he's all talkin' about seeing everyone die, AMAZING!! *tear* also, when Martha's mum started listening to that guy, and BELIVING him, i actuully screamed at the tv. lol
