My first lesson. yeah wow. xd
The instructor was this really gruff old lady. She picked out an old flea bitten mare named Syllest for me to ride on. A little Arabian mare. I remember the lady kept trying to get me to get syllest to trot, and yelling at me to kick harder. I remember getting so upset and crying cause I thought that if I kicked any harder, I was going to hurt the horse.
So the instructor came over with a crop and slapped syllest hard on the butt. Old syllest broke out into a canter and that shut me up. When syllest finally slowed to a walk, the lady looked up at me with a smile on her face and said "You're ready for the trot now!"
I didn't even know how to steer correctly.

Wow my first lesson....
Well my first lesson was April 1st 2007. I rode a palomino gelding named Sam. He was the most gentlest boy ever! All we did was walk though but when i watched the other girls gallop i was like "Wow!" Sam is 28 years old but i love him. My second lesson i rode him again and this time i trotted with him.
Not trying to go off the subject but when i was at my 6th lesson i rode this chestnut mare name Cashew and she was so powerfull and strong and fast i fell in love with her. It was 7:55pm at night and my teacher was teaching me to gallop. Usally only people gallop at their 10th lesson but since my teacher said i was soo good she made me start early. I felt sooo pround of myself. When i started galloping in the western saddle i felt like i was racing in the kuntucky derby. She was sooo fast. biggrin

My first lesson was on a big black thoroughbred mare named Desiree, she was like 20. I showed up in cowboy boots =3 My instructor walked me around on a lunge line, then made me go around the whole arena on it. She got me trotting and I stayed on for one circle before I freaked and made her stop.
My first lesson without the lunge line was also on Desi, this time I got to tack her up and I got to canter. I remember doing it, it was amazing. Desiree was a great mare and an amazing lesson horse, and stopped on a dime. Yay for push button horses!
Back then I rode Western, now I only ride English. Regretfully Desiree passed away a few months ago, and I hope she's in a better place, without her I wouldn't be riding.
