Rowan stood up and stretched. She watched Zen and Ari closely, sensing the connection between them. But it was closed for them alone. They'll learn how to open up the bonds to admit other people into mental conversations soon enough.

Rowan looked back to the tunnel leading to the Meeting Room and considered the distance to the dwelling's area. She usually rode one of the Kyns to get around the Den, it was quite a large system of caves. Would a flightless kyn be able to navigate around easily? The lunars have no trouble, but that's because they are built for speed without flight. But an European who is injured? No, it'll take him forever to get up to the dwellings area. And Rowan wasn't too sure if the Staircase in the Grand Hollow was even large enough for a fully-grown European.

"It won't be easy to move around our den with that injury of yours." Rowan told Zen.

There's two guest caves near the entrance. One of them has a water supply (room 12) which will make it easier to clean the wounds. Rosemary continued for Rowan, the two's thoughts blending together easily. Each understood what the other was thinking, together the Edoc'sil clan was held together with this bond closer than blood.

"You should stay there until your wing gets better. Ari can keep her things in the other Guest cave (Room 11) so she doesn't need to carry it with her whenever she visits- unless if she wants to stay of course." Rowan smiled at Ariya. It was great living with her clan and all, but Rowan does miss human companionship frequently. Alan and Luneka visited often, but Rowan still found herself the only human around Edoc'sil for most of her time anyways. There was always Sora, but Rowan rarely saw him around much.

"Well, I'll go show you the rooms." Rowan told Ari and Zen, reflexively going to Rosemary and pulling herself on the European's back. The caves used to belong to a Feral, and there are many places the clan hasn't cleared out yet even though they've been living here for more than a year. Some of the less-worn tunnels are still treacherous to all but paws and claws. It was usually safer for the humans to ride a Kyn when travelling from one place to another in the den unless if it's a short distance.

It took Rowan a moment to realize what she did and turned back to Zen and Ari.

"The footing can be dangerous for people in certain places. It's best if you ride a Kyn. If Zen would allow, you could ride him, but if he doesn't want that, I'm sure Zeph or Clips would be happy to."

No. My wing may still be injured but I am able to walk now. Zen motioned for Ari to climb onto his back as he leaned on his back legs so she could climb up, by way of his non-injured wing. Once she carefully put her arms around his neck-so as not to choke him but she won't fall off-, he followed Rosemary and her rider -Rowan, was it?- to wherever this guest room of theirs was.

As soon as they stepped outside of the cave, it was obvious what Rowan meant when she said that it wasn't safe for a human to be traveling among their den without a kyn. The ground was quite jagged and there were some drops that a human wouldn't be able to survive.

Fortunately, the ceiling was high enough so he wouldn't have to crouch down as he padded along behind Rosemary.

As they made their way through a few more tunnels, Zen could hear the faint sound of rushing water. His ear twitched when Rosemary and Rowan lead them into a room with a small river going through the center of it. Though it was no problem for him to step over or wade through, it might become a problem for Ari.

He padded over to the edge of the river and crouched down, to let Ari off. After this, the European sat on his haunches and gave his front paws some firm grounding, sinking every so slightly into the ground. He concentrated on the earth and jerked his head upwards, creating a small ramp on the side of the river. He repeated the motion a few more times and an impromptu bridge was created.

He'd made it so that it could easily be taken down if needed. His relief showed in his eyes if not his posture as he sat back on his haunches again. Zen could still use magic. He would have to test out the capabilities of his other magic abilities to see if they had diminished at all.

Rosemary nodded with approval as Zen shaped the bridge.

Good, you are versed in Earthen magics. That is the essential element when living in our den. You will need it when entering and exiting the caves. Rosemary proceeded to explain to the the male European how to operate the large slab of rock covering the opening of the Den.

Rowan turned to Ari with a smile.

"Don't worry, we have a small tunnel right next to the entrance to let people in and out. Since I can't do magic myself, we had to put it there." Rowan looked around the room, realizing they could probably work on it a bit more. They hadn't really bothered with the guests rooms much, because whenever Luneka and Alan did decide to stay for the night, Luneka stayed in Rowan's room while Alan took a spare cave in the dwelling's floor. No one else really visited the caves.

Eclipse soon padded into the room with Rowan's first-aid kit on his back. Soon Rowan settled down and showed Ari the basic anatomy of the Kyn's wings, the best way to secure it, to help it heal, and the like. Eclipse dropped the supplies next to them and got to work on the room.

Being the best spell-weaver in the entire clan, Eclipse easily smoothed out the floor and walls of the room with earth magic. He considered the bridge Zen had made and strengthened it, making it look more like the larger bridge out at the water Room, where the Blue Snake originates.

Eclipse stopped by Rosemary to nuzzle her gently, and the European return the gesture quickly, dipping her head low to rub the Lunar's back. As Eclipse returned to work, Rosemary turned back to Zen and proceeded to explain the different facilities in the den, how to get there, and supported her explanations through mental images. She did caution him to stay on this floor for now though, as the Grand Hollow can't accommodate a flightless European yet. She promised that she and the other members of Edoc'sil will work at widening and strengthening the staircase for Zen soon.

Eclipse crossed the bridge to the other half of the cave, just big enough for an European to stretch out comfortably, with enough room to spread his wings. Bit it was really just a hole in the rock at the moment. Eclipse worked on this quickly though, using his magic to shape the rocks, breaking them down. Soon, there was a large pit of sand, Eclipse's own preferred form of bedding.

If Zen was more comfortable with rags or blankets as some other members of Edoc'sil- well, he'd just have to find some himself. Rowan was barely able to find enough cloth for her own kyns.

Eclipse studied his handiwork, making a few changes here and there. Then he closed his eyes and concentrated, calling forth light.

Zen and Ari must have been quite surprised when the room suddenly lit up. Because it wasn't just a normal light, it was something Eclipse has mastered and is his speciality: a sourceless light. There were no shadows anywhere, and it was impossible to find where light was coming from. It might be a bit unnerving at first, but all the Kyns of Edoc'sil has gotten used to it by now. It was the mnain source of lighting in the den.

Since you're not staying here for too long, I didn't bother to waste too much energy on the light. This'll go out in a month, but I think you'll be healed and in a better room by then. Eclipse explained to Zen, then proceeded to what would become Ari's room. Which was a little more tricky, but he finally made a stone bed-frame. He spent extra time kneading the earth so that it was softer, but still kept it intact. He knew humans didn't seem to like sand in their bed for whatever silly reasons humans have. If Ari could bring her own blanket, it would be comfortable enough.

When she moves to the dwellings floor later on, they'll have a straw mattress ready for her. This'll do for now.

When Eclipse went back to the guest room with the Blue snake running through it, everyone seems to be settling down. Eclipse padded up to Ari and examined her more closely for a moment, and through his bond with Rosemary he recognized her as the one who had found the Amulet which hung around his neck at that very moment.

"Well met." He spoke out loud. Unlike his princess, he was more willing to put the comforts of others above him own. Edoc'sil rarely ever converses to each other verbally except Rowan, so in doing so it was awkward for the Lunar. But he knew that for humans not used to it, the mental intrusion of telepathic conversations were uncomfortable.

"Your room will be crossed by kyns often because it leads to a ledge overlooking the southern sea. I have put up a wall in the room so that your bed would have more privacy, but please be aware we will be moving in and out." He flashed a friendly grin, revealing a row of pointy teeth designed for the kill.

"Oh, and don't be alarmed if you hear a lot of noise near sundown." Rowan added with a smile.

"Rose and the Lunars like to howl and roar and generally make a ruckus at the ledge every night. Some silly Kyn thing about declaring their territory to others." Both Rose and Clips threw her an annoyed glance, which she pretended not to have seen.

I will go hunting now. Eclipse, bring Ro back to her room. Then come back outside. Bring Zeph and Oreo with you, we'll need all the help we can get to get enough food for everyone tonight. Rosemary commanded and left the room. Eclipse turned to regard Ari and Zen one last time, then lowered himself to allow Rowan an easier time of climbing onto his back. then he sped off toward the Grand Hollow, leaving Zen and his new rider alone.

Ilythiiri (Ilia)

Common Genet

User Image
[egg][Hatchling][Fledgling]

Rowan, Rosemary, Eclipse, and saffron decided to explore the deeper reaches of the Grand Hollow one day. Not expecting much of anything to happen, they were sorely ill-prepared as they dived down into what is known as the underdark.

The moment they landed, they stumbled upon a drow patrol. They managed to get away in a side tunnel but they were now trapped in the tunnels, with no way to get back.

Wandering around, the foursome stumbled upon the nest of wingless, furred kyns. After a battle, the father was driven away and the mother put to sleep. A lot of the eggs were trampled by the mother and even one hatchling died. Only one undamaged egg remained, and that hatched as Rowan was in the room. Deciding that the mother and father kyns were in no condition to take care of a hatchling now, she took the small Kyn as her own.

It refused Rowan's suggestion of names and demanded to be called Ilythiiri, Ilia for short. Later on, Rowan would find out that this name meant drow.

The Underdark adventure here.

[The Hatching]
Birthday on Thursday Jul 10, 2008

Ilia has all the characteristics of a High Drow Priestess really. She looks down upon others, especially males and really anything that isn't Kyn or Drow. She speaks mainly in the language of the Drow, and the rest of the clan soon learnt to ignore the words and focus on their empathetic connections to understand her. She will not bring herself so low as to speak the common language.

Ilia has a disturbing fondness of toying with creatures before she kills them. She also has a strange affinity with spiders, welcoming them to make their home in her cave. She forbids any of the other members of the clan to harm spiders, but they mostly just ignore her. Nobody really seems to like Ilia much.

Ilia hates the light, and purposely extinguish any of the magical lights of Eclipse's she comes across. After a while of this though, Eclipse managed to make his lights beyond Ilia's magical comprehension, throughly aggravating her.

Ilia hunts only during the night, and even then complains about the starlight. She had hunted down in the Underdark at first, but Rowan and the others decided to close off the opening into the Underdark, sealing the Grand Hollow.

Ilythiiri can not fly as she has no wings, but she can levitate as an innate ability of the drow-kyn. Levitation only goes straight up and down though, and needs momentum to move sideways. Levitation wears off after a while, although the time she can stay airborne increases as she ages.

Magic

~Darkness~
Ilia has the innate ability to conjure a globe of magical darkness, where nothing can see through, not even creature who see in the spectrum of heat. But her darkness magic allows her to create globes where her infravision can penetrate but not light-seeing creatures. Ilia often keeps a globe of such darkness around herself.

~Flame~
Ilia has the innate ability to line anything she wants in faerie fire- a blue or purple heatless flame. She cannot breathe fire as most kyns do and thus relies on magic to conjure her flames.

~Poison~
Ilythiiri's very adept at creating magical poisons. She is especially good with a potent sleeping drug, a paralyzing drug, and a concoction that releases a painful jolt of electricity when it touches a being. Ilia is also known for a poison that when entered into the body, sends a chilling pain followed by a jolting numbness. Rowan has forbidden Ilia from continuing to brew these wicked poisons but why would she listen?

Mikayl
Striped Hyena

User Image
[egg] [pup]

Zen's wings had finally mended properly and the first place he went when he was out flying was to his old den. Laria and Sarink were no where to be seen and the entire place looked trashed.

But they'd been here when Ivan had died, Zen was sure of it. He remembered leaving out for his shift to hunt as the two stayed behind to watch and guard the egg Ivan had found just days ago.

The egg!

Zen quickly made his way to where the nursery had been, pushing boulders and other obstructions out of his way with either his earth magic or his tail. They'd always guarded the nursery with a large boulder so that the egg wouldn't get hurt. Ivan himself had known just enough earth magic to be able to move aside boulders.

The European used his magic to move the boulder away before quickly moving into the room. He scanned the place and saw a small bit of white amongst all the brown. Carefully moving away small chunks of rocks and other things, he found a crescent egg half-buried under some dirt.

Zen let out a sigh of relief.

The egg, the Lunar egg. It was still okay.

Holding it carefully in his claws, he noticed a crack along the side of the egg. It had probably happened when something struck it. He was worried. What if that did something to the baby Kyn inside?

He had to bring this egg back to Edoc'sil.

[The Hatching]
Born on July 8th, 2008

Mikayl was born blind, therefore, Ari felt this strange need to take care of him at all times, which aggravated him more than anything. He hated feeling useless and pitiful so Mikayl would get aggressive when anyone would suggest to help him at all.

Using his earth magic, he managed to use it to feel vibrations in the ground and therefore 'see' in a way different from normal. It was difficult to explain so he never bothered to elaborate on the mechanics, only telling the rest of Edoc'sil that he could see just fine and to leave him alone.

Mikayl was a bit touchy when it came to sights. Of course, merely using his 'sight' was not enough for him to get by so he'd worked hard to make his nose sensitive to any differences in the air. This made it easier for detecting flying creatures.

The Lunar had no sympathy for bats but, rather, respect for them, since they, like him, had managed around the problem of having no sight. As a result of this non-hostility towards the creatures, it was not uncommon to find a few residing in Mikayl's room.

Paradox (Dox)

Dainty Shades of Red
User Image

[egg][hatchling]

A local Clan's Eastern had given birth, but the clan was too small to support many hatchlings. Thus, the Kyn assistant of that den arrived at Edoc'sil with one of the eggs, asking Edoc'sil to take it in. Rowan accepted, and the egg was named Paradox during the hatching.

Dox's egg hatched during one of the nights Aezhann Chalm was being created.

[The Hatching]
Birthday on Sunday August 10th, 2008

Paradox is...different. He's rather narcissistic, like Rosemary was earlier on, but just...way more. And it didn't fade away as he grew up. He would openly boats about himself, and brush any criticism off as jealously.

He gets especially showy-offy around females, and tends to ignore males. And he flirts around with girls with every opportunity, to the annoyance of everyone else in the clan.

Dox shows amazing proficiency in magic, although not as well as Eclipse.

Though he acts the womanizer around any female Kyns, he loves spirit and the two are mates.

Magic

~Earth~
Paradox is very good with manoeuvring rock, but seems lacking in the skills of moving soil, sand, or controlling plants as most of the clanmates. But he's still one of the best in controlling solid rock!

~Illusion~
Dox is rather good at this, being able to bend the light to create things that looks extremely realistic. Dox is able to make almost anything. the only flaw in his illusions is that they don't make any noise, or smell like anything.

~Light~
He uses his light magic in conjunction to his Illusion magic, but he's also good at creating orbs of light that floats around. He has tried to learn Eclipse's art of sourceless light, but has not been successful.

Familiar

~Poppy~
This blue Minum was found by Paradox when he and Spirit went off in search of rumoured odd Kyns, nicknamed Pokekyns. Poppy's sister was injured, and Paradox offered to bring the two back to Edoc'sil to help the Plusle heal.

Minum is able to discharge blue electricity, though it tires her out.

((Dah curse my forgetfullness and absence!! DX where is everybody at? I need an Alliby for Sora's absence.. hm...))

Sora had been living with his mother, Alena, back in Weslock for the past while, she had recently come down with a sickness of some sort and couldn't take care of herself. Sora had left the Den without telling Rowan, after recieving Alena's letter, so he could take care of his mother for awhile. Alena started feeling better after many weeks so Sora and Arian were finally headed back to the Edoc'Sil Den, with new clothing and other neccessities given to him by his mother. He had a feeling that Rowan might be a bit mad at him for dissapearing without saying goodbye.

The two were at the base of the mountain and began climbing to were the Den was located, "Man, I bet Row is guna be mad at me? What do you think Arian?" Arian walked beside Sora and glanced up at him sending him a thought, "Well you did run off without telling her why..." Sora frowned slightly trying to think of what he should tell Rowan when he got back to the Den, "Yeah, but my mom was sick and I needed to leave immediately, ya know?"

((Good enough of an alliby or however you spell that? XD?))
PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 12:29 pm

(Hey, Sora. You came back just in time for me to move out. xD)

Ari's not stupid, she's going to notice that we're missing, Mikayl told the European as they left Edoc'sil, Zen taking to the skies immediately. The Lunar hated it when the soon-to-be prince flew, because then he couldn't keep an exact location on the kyn.

Mikayl bound into the forest, the wildlife around him chirping in his sensitive ears, and the dewy smell in his nose. He could hear Zen's flapping wings above as he sent out vibrations through the ground.

We'll be back before she starts to worry, Zen reassured. We're just out to scope the area and that. We'll come out one at a time to start freezing the lake over.

I'm telling you, I can just freeze the whole thing over by myself while you start carving out the inside with your storm magic. My water magic is second only to my earth magic, you know that.

We'll see when we get there.

Sora felt a rush of excitement as they neared the Edoc'sil Den. Sora began to run as they got closer and the young, ever-faithful Arian, followed his master, sharing in the excitement. Sora would have ran past the Den if the entrance had not been left open, he slowed himself down to a jogging pace and headed into the den.

Arian on the other-hand had been running to fast to slow down so quickly, had he not dug his claws into the earth to slow him down he would have run right off the cliff. Arian shook off the near-fatal experience and made a mental note to run slower when on the path. You could hear Arian's paw-steps as he walked across the hardend earth into the Edoc'sil Den. Arian was no longer a pup, but he still wasn't fully grown yet either. He trotted down the path that led down deeper into the Den.

Sora was way ahead of Arian and he had just barely noticed this, he turned around to see Arian trotting down the path towards him, "Comon you slowpoke!" Sora yelled out in a teasing manner, "Slowpoke? Who you calling Slowpoke?" Arian said to Sora mentally.

(("I'm Hooooome!!" XD))

Cyclone Flygon (Cy)

The Mystic Pokemon
User Image
[egg][hatchling][fledgling]

When Eclipse went out hunting, he felt the earth shake mightily near the den of Aezhann Chalm. Upon closer inspection, he realized that all the debris they had dug out in order to make the den had collapsed and created a landslide down the mountain. Eclipse and Ari climbs to the top where the landslide originated to stabilize it, to find a broken nest that was caught in the landslide. There were three intact eggs. Ari already had a new egg to take care of, so she took one of the eggs, leaving Edoc'sil to take care of the other two.

[The Finding]

[The Hatching]
Birthday on Thursday December 18th, 2008

Cyclone seems absent minded, always giving off a air as if she really couldn't care less about what's going on around her. Sometimes, it feels like she simply just doesn't understand what's going on. Cyclone seems unable to say the human language out loud. Instead, she makes common dragon noises, purrs, and called out "Flygon!" to get her point across. She can use the human tongue in telepathy, but prefers not to use it.

Flygon seems to love just goofing around with whatever she can. She will do whatever she thinks is fun, and will pester the other Kyns with boundless energy. Magic was innate to her from birth, which was something the others have never heard of -until Cadenza hatched as well.

She seems particularly attached to sand, and hates ice and cold, which may be something that happened during his first few days of life, trapped in the mountains with Verita and Mikayl.

She lives mostly at the den with Edoc'sil, and works as a hunter, but will spend many nights with her adoptive mother Vera out in the wilds.

Magic

~Dark~
Cyclone is able to hurl a blob of darkness at things, especially if she's agitated. It passes right through thing easily, but will leave whatever living thing it hits feeling chilled and drained.

~Earth~
Cyclone is hugely adept at this element, freely shaping the stone, especially the sand. She calls call upon the power of the rock, levitating them, throwing them, shaping them, you name it. Cyclone can even summon a localized sandstorm, which constantly rages in her room when she's there.

~Fire~
Cyclone seems to have a stronger kynfire than most other kyn, but can not summon flames at will. She can manipulate her own fire well though.

PostPosted: Thu Dec 11, 2008 4:48 pm

Cadenza Dragonite (Caz)

The Dragon Pokemon
User Image
[egg]

Look up at Cyclone Flygon's entry.

[The Hatching]
Birthday on Friday December 19th, 2008

Caz was born during a difficult time for the clan. He was raised by Rosemary and Eclipse when the den was nearly empty. Thus, he is very self-relying and tries to help out with the clan as much as he can. Cadenza has this oddly innocent and simple view of the world though, looking at everything almost in a knightly way.

Although Cadenza is very far down in the hierarchy of age, he always seems to act like a big brother to everyone. Cadenza speaks little though, calling out "Dragonite!" verbally, and sometimes talking through his bond. But for the most part, he allows his emotions backed up by mental images to communicate.

Magic

~Fire~
Cadenza can breathe fire, really, really well. Really hot fire too. He uses his magic to control it, and strengthen it.

~Wind~
The uses wind mostly just to help him control his flight better, but you will know he's agitated when the wind starts picking up around him.

~Storm~
Lightning. Lots and lots of eclectricity. Cadenza loves to mess around with those things. Pretty good at it too, kinda hurts if he shocks you. More than kinda hurts actually. Really hurts.

Verita (Vera)

Night Snow
User Image
[Giftbox]

A long long time ago, Verita was the youngest of a new Clan that made its home up in the Ridgebacks. The riders were a couple who lived near the Ranch, and agreed to care for eggs from Aedan. Verita was the fourth and last egg that hatched for the two riders, named Sparrow and Glen. They had a young son, who was five years old at the time.

Verita was only a hatchling when local Ferals decided to chase them out. There was only a pair of Easterns, but the clan was small, their oldest member only months old and still a juvenile. Everyone was killed, except Verita and her older brothers, a Gargoyle named Storm, and an Eastern named baston. Both she and Storm wore a piece of cloth that belonged to their Riders in remembrance, magically strengthened so it will never wear and tear. When Verita was just old enough to take care of herself, Storm died in an avalanche, and she thought Baston dead as well.

Camouflaging well in the snowy peaks of the Ridgeback, she survived by herself for twenty years. Two years ago, she felt the presence of a Kyn that laired in these very mountains. Soon, many Kyns joined the first, and Verita finally felt a human one day. These weren't Feral Kyn, they were a clan.

Slightly scared, but determined to enter Kyn society again, to leave the isolation and spend time with other dragons again, she tentatively approaches Edoc'sil...

[The Finding]
Birthday on Decemeber 08, 1988

Verita does not have a firm grasp on the human language, and seems to be learning very slowly. Because of this, she tends not to talk, and when she absolutely needs to, simply sends her thoughts in the form of images and emotions. Edoc'sil, used to this form of communication, can understand her easily, but will not be able to commute with others well in this method.

Vera seems to enjoy the company of others immensely, and almost seem dependant on the presence of others. She tend to hate crowds though, finding it uncomfortable, and doesn't like being too near others.

She can be very irritable, snappy, and easy to agitate. She always seems on edge, ready to attack anything threatening. It's a pity her life has forced her to grow these reflexes. Verita doesn't seem to be able to tolerate weakness in others. While she enjoys the company of others, she never makes any effort to make friends.

Because of her skills and experience with hunting for prey, she organizes and leads hunts for the clan. Since she has arrived, Edoc'sil finds it easier to keep its ever growing numbers fed.

She is extremely protective of the cloth she wears around her tail, snapping at anyone who dares try to touch it.

After living so long in the cold, her fur is thick and warm. So she finds hot temperatures unbearable, and never descends into the lower, warmer levels of the den. The other members of Edoc'sil helps keep her room cool.

Verita doesn't stay much in the den, preferring to lair outside in the wilds. Her mate is Mikayl.

Magic

Verita has never been adept at magic, although she has read her rider's tomes before. Any attempts by Edoc'sil to teach her has not been successful either.
