Not everyone has the powers I do, Kay answered with a smile, I guess I wouldn't feel as special. And yes, babies. The little things - they like to do that to me too. Your hair IS very pretty, though.
She reached out and lightly stroked his hair. It reminded her of her own though with her it made her look slightly washed out due to her fair skin. On him, it just looked cool.
Most I've met have wings or a tail or something. Makes me feel a little...plain? Especially since I'm so short.

"It's nice to meet you Rouge." Kyo nodded. "And I'm sure... Oak as well." The elf chuckled nervously. His gaze quickly moved to Kishi, who was balancing the plate of snacks. "Oh thank you so much Kishi." The elf nodded as he took a chip and only one chip. Not being in the mood to pig out.
"Hmm... I wonder if I should do that with Oak. I don't know, He kind of does rather like being out here in the garden than being cooped up inside" The elf nodded.

Rouge made a slight how-do-you-do nod at Kyocho once more before noticing Kishi once again. "Hello there Kishi. Did you and Malen have a good training session today?" she asked in a friendly sort of manner.
"OH! And that reminds me. I've got something for you." Reaching into the pocket of her long black trenchcoat and pulled out a small black wrapped package, which she walked over. "I can hold that for you if you want." she said, indicating the tray.
In the package were two different pairs of clip on earrings. One was a slightly dangly set. They were silver colored with little black bats hanging from them. She had figured the succubus girl would find them interesting. The other set on the other hand was just simple silver hoops that clung to one's lobe. But at the bottom of the hoops were little spikes. Rouge was wearing a similar spike in her ear, but it was large and was a stud instead of being attached to a clip on hoop.

So...it is common? Zasalamel asked shortly. He had more to say about it, but he saw Kay's hand raise...and that froze the boy on the spot. He stayed completely still when she stroked at his hair, caught between enjoying it (he liked when people played with his hair, for whatever reason), and being a ball of nerves over just who was touching his hair.
Zasalamel considered what Kay had said, but only after he got over the initial unease of being touched, even if it was just his hair. Powers...thats right, a could of the people he had met had powers, didn't they? I don't think I have any powers. He decided after a moment; his vision was hereditary and a must for Drow, or so Neveah said...as was his shadowball. Outside of that he had nothing. He was tall yeah, and he had impeccable aim when it came to using a sling shot or other projectiles...but powers? None. None that he could think of or acknowledge, anyway. And no wings...and no tail, or nothing...just...different skin I guess. He decided mentally, looking at his hands and bare arms. He looked like a shadow, compared to Kay. Why are people so interested in height? Ilhar keeps complaining about me being so tall...I don't get it.
---
"How've you been, Kishi?" She couldn't help but ask as she stole a few more chips.
"Eh, up to you...but there is an escape if you want a minute away from the treebrat." Neveah teased affectionately, popping a chip into her mouth.
Then, upon sitting down, she watched Rouge give the gifts...though watchin the gift giving was probably rude. Oh well.

I suppose it is. And it's all right, you'll get some powers eventually! I think all of us have some kind of power, but I'm guessing it takes people longer than others to get it. I was able to use my powers when I was little, really little. But mom says that I sacrificed my motor skills for it, so that's why it's so hard for me to learn how to read english and why it took me until recently to learn how to walk.
Recently being just before she grew into Kid. Her fingers continued to stroke through his hair softly, gently. Something she certainly enjoyed doing for absolutely no reason.
It was likely the fact it was hair other than her own. And it was pretty.
Height? Well...I don't like being short because people are bigger than me and thus have... she furrowed her brow. She didn't know why it bothered her so badly, more power?
She didn't know what it meant, but that was how she felt.

"I like his company," Kyo nodded. "This tree brat here gives my life a bit more excitement." The elf chuckled then sighed. Reaching out and latched onto yet another chip and popped it into his mouth.
Oak wandered over. Watching his guardian pop this weird triangle thing into his mouth. Curious as to what he was doing. First he had to establish a means of balance, but on all four. Left hand and left leg first... followed by the right side. So far it was working. It was getting him somewhere. A grin grew on the child face. Clinging to his guardians shirt, Oak pulled himself upward. Which pulled his guardian to the side.
"Ahh... Oak what are you doing?!"
"Agghh..." The tree brat made grabby hands for the triangle.
"This is mine..." Kyo reached over with his free arm and yanked on a few blades of grass. "This one is yours.." The elf nodded. "I don't understand why he chooses to eat plants, but then again Oak doesn't appear to be fully tree or plant."

Shira subtly dismissed herself from the presence of the two women and the grouchy child, allowing herself to look around the shop in detail. She dragged her fingers along the spines of the dusty and strange books that lined the shelves, not sure if she should pick one up for the sake of it falling apart. Soon she had explored the whole vacinity of the shop, coughing mildly due to the massive amount of dusty air, and was ready to leave. She reached to turn her music back on and started towards the door, then stopped mid-step as she heard many voices beyond the door behind the counter.
She walked up towards the desk at the back of the shop slowly, noting the gigantic book on top. She started to reach for, but noticed the title, 'Life and Death' and drew back her hand. She didn't think it be wise to satisfy her curiousity with such a large warning sign in her head. She stared at the door, glancing back towards the woman earlier in thought. 'She did say something to that other woman about activity in the back...' Shira did not contemplate long before reaching for the knob with a slightly hesitant hand.

Lithle was getting more and more agitated, that was easy enough to see. Savius looked at her, what passed for concern with him flickering across his face. It wasn't much, but then, when everything was mild, mild things meant a lot. Or at least, meant something.
Asking her to hold the brat was out of the question. Savius really didn't want to know what she might do with the child at the moment, but he could imagine it might not be pleasant. And Jer'ain, well Jer'ain loved him dearly, but that wouldn't stop her from killing him if he allowed the brat or Mommy dearest to come to harm on what was supposed to be no more than a quick shopping trip.
Mommy dearest was twitching.
"Go steal something, brat." Savius said at last, setting the young child on the ground. Taylor had mastered basic crawling quickly, and could be trusted to get in to trouble if allowed to wander.
But Lithle could be trusted to kill things if pushed to far, and Savius wouldn't be able to carry beer with his hands full of baby.
"Hang on, Mom." He slipped away from her, toward the fridge.
Taylor, torn between the safety of Lithle's closeness and the sparkly things everywhere, sat where he was placed, and whined pathetically.

Alana and Nakshidil were sitting to the side, watching the guardians, children, and wands silently. Nakkie was twirling the veiled wand, listening to the baby ghost make it's burbling noises of enjoyment at the spinning. Xue was nestled in Alana's red-dyed locks. Yes, the woman had decided to be a redhead for a bit. The angel, blessed with the ability to change his own size (and do not much else), watched the children curiously.
They were a quiet, inobtrusive lot. After all, none of them were rowdy. It took a little alcohol, or a lot of chocolate to get Allie or Xue going. Nakkie was always the more motherly of the two females in the party. Plus, she could cook. Just about anything.

Eamane was carrying a very grumpy and very squirmy little baby when she entered headquarters for the second time in as many days, She was shocked by the number of people gathered. She hadn't seen so many here before. She paused awkwardly in the door way and attempted to duck in as unseen as possible.
Kiran was having none of that though. As soon as he spotted other children his temper improved rapidly but his squirming did not. He wanted down, and he wanted down now!
With a resigned sigh Eamane took the nearest seat she could find and placed the baby on her lap reluctant to let him go. She wached quietly and wondered what was going on. Had she missed a memo?

Ohh, so dreadfully busy! The haggard looking woman was bustling down the street, her arms filled with books. The library was supposed to be around here, wasn't it? All but squeaking as she panted for breath, the frizzy blonde-haired woman pushed her thick spectacles up on her nose, squinting furiously over the mountain of books her in tiny arms at the sign above the shop. Did it say library? It must have! Flustered, the woman did her best to open the door--and ended up tumbling straight in, the books spilling from her arms as she landed flat on her face. Flushing, trying to tug her overly large coat firmer around her frail little form, the woman attempted to scramble to her feet, nervously peering around. This certainly wasn't the library..."I'm so sorry," She squeaked slightly, hurriedly looking for any sign of life. Maybe she could just slip out again--certainly no one would notice if she gathered up her things and left!

A small chirp lit up the room as birdsong; with something of a jolt running through her system, Danny lifted up her head and blinked blearily about. Oh... I must've... fallen asleep? She hadn't really meant to nap- and, the room as busy and noisy as it was, it was surprising she had been able to at all. Then again, with finals going strong at college, and the holiday season meaning extra hours at the rink....
"Morning, sunshine," she cooed to the soft-eyed baby in her arms, teasing the fern-girl's nose. Vana had awakened before her, of course- who else could have made such a pretty sound? Smoothing Vana's hair as she gazed about the room, smiling distantly as the babe reached up to try and explore her hand, Danny took stock of those now assembled.
My... she didn't even know there were so many people with wands!
Letting Vana capture her hand, Danny seemed just as content not to approach anyone for this moment. She didn't see anyone she knew, and she certainly wasn't the most comfortable in such a busy environment; not when she had Vana along, at least. Still, she kept looking about expectantly, hoping to catch sight of someone she knew (and, secretly marvelling at the strange and amazing appearences of those around her- even with the ghost-children aside, she didn't even know there were this many non-humans around Gaia! Certainly, there weren't where she lived!).

Overwhelmed, Taylor had retreated to one of the walls and was now holding her book in front of her face, attempting to block out the commotion. Only a little bit ago, the room had been nearly empty, and now....
...why were all these people suddenly here? Come to think of it, why was she here? She'd just come on a whim.
A loud noise made her look up from her tome as a woman with frizzy blonde hair faceplanted into the room, books scattering everywhere across the floor. No one else seemed to notice at first, but Taylor put down her own book and began gathering up some of the others, trying to avoid people's feet as she did so.
"Here," she said, handing over a few of the books while dusting off their covers. "Um... whatch'a reading?"
Taylor always had a kind word for fellow bibliophiles, and she did need someone to talk to...

Wiko writhed in the scrawny Akoriat's arms, still in the middle of his first ever gigantic fit of hunger. Nicolai winced against the shrill, almost hellish manner in which the wendigo child was announcing his displeasure, still wrestling with the dry formula bottle that still required water and nuking. He was sure that the kid's wailing would wake the whole headquarters. Or the whole... world?
Of course, this was even more probable as it seemed the whole world had piled into the headquarters all of a sudden. All manner of freakish children and their equally abnormal parentals were scattered about. Nicolai hadn't even seen more than two other children yet. Sure, there was the little gelfling wand, and the brat that toyed with him telekenetically, but that was it. Now there were animalistic children, demonic looking children... even... one with a fern-branch tail.
Oh... sweet!
Not one to be obvious Nicolai made his path through the headquarters, head down, only sneaking a peek at the branchy little thing sitting in a woman's arms.
Of course, Wiko didn't like this stalling. The pretzely hands grasped at Nicolai's nose, ramming a pinkie up his nostril briefly. He flinched, moving his own hand up to push Wiko's back down. Much to his surprise the little Wendigo took this as an offer, grasping tightly to his finger and drawing it to his gummy mouth. Instantly, the zombie child hushed, suddenly very satisfied with this offering of... live flesh.
God, that's right. Cannibal. At least he doesn't have teeth yet.
