ochimaru Please feel free to PM me if ya have any questions or want to bounce elastic ideas off my brain. I'm always open for a conversation! Keep in mind, folks, that's because he's a very dense man! xd Ok, ok, sorry, kidding. But, yeah, welcome to the guild. I'm Cougar, your postwhoring champion. I'm glad to see some new names around here. After a while, we get to the point where everyone's had a shot at an opinion, and so...yeah, things get a little boring. Especially when I'm waiting all weekend for Maze to comment. xp But I digress.

I apologize, but I only stumble in here on occassion, maybe twice a week. Primarily b/c stupid Gaia does not show guild posts in "my recent posts" on the forum page. (grrr...)
I also recently joined Gaiaholics Anonymous and am trying to cut back a bit, although not having much success.
I'd love to see some new topics to debate, but alas, I am often quite burnt-out by the time I make it home and start leisurely perusing the guild.
And yes... I CAN be quite dense sometimes. Until something clicks and my mind becomes light as a feather... is it 4:20 yet? Damn. Missed it. Oh well... it will be 4:20 by the time I get home!

Don't worry about that...I only wish Gaia showed guild posts...but then, I guess technically for privacy reasons, we can't find out what guilds someone is in... I'm currently burned out anyway...not because it happens to be past 4:20 here...mostly because I got home from work about two, and I have to ride my bike uphill to get home, and I always come home blown up...so I'm tired. Haven't crashed yet, either.

Hello. My name's Kymm. I'm 13 and live in Michigan. Philosophy is what I stand for. I plan on taking courses on it in college. If someone has an opinion, expect me to question it. I am always is a constant question of why, and I will go far to answer it. My life goal is to learn the secrets of the world. There's a lot to know about me, but if you want to know then ask; I don't usually give information without a question at hand.

You never know, we may have mutual friends. Because of the age gap, I'd doubt it, but it never hurts to ask, right?

ah, the introduction. Well, not really much to say. I'm just a average Airman from a small hick town in Ohio who's trying to survive. I also have really bad grammer, apparently. No education past high school (yet), so you can rule out any philosophy classes. Just decided to join the guild cuz it looks like a place for good discussion, not someplace forum-goers call each other "poo-poo heads". Yep, that's pretty much all I've got to say.

Nonsense. Most of us do possess quite a nice range of vocabulary. We can get far more entertaining than "poo-poo heads".. But we generally find better ways to address one another whlie we discuss certain controversial topics.

I just joined (10 Aug 05)
Hi, I'm a 16 year old student in Australia studying for the HSC(still in the preliminaries) which is a 2 year course that takes place before acceptance into a university. Soon to be 17, by the time I finish the course I should be 18.
I discuss anything really, philosophies and theology, if I can contribute I may have something to add. If a topic looks interesting enough to look into, then I will jump in to take a look.
Thanks for the invite, I believe from orchimaru.

Hello, everyone. I was just invited to join (August 9th, 2005).
I'm a 23 year-old university student in Canada. Right now I'm studying Japanese language and culture. In the Fall I'm going to finally declare a major - Religious Studies (with a minor in Japanese). After graduation, I hope to do some work in the academic world before going on to Naropa University to work on a Ph.D in Indo-Tibetan Buddhism with proficiency in Sanskrit. Then people will have to call me "Doctor." Whee!
I enjoy Buddhism, Chaos, anime, manga, David Boreanaz, and coffee. Long walks on the beach make me irritible.
Namaste.

Hello all. I have just come back from a major computer problem to find an invite to this guild (10th August, '05). Looks very interesting.
Anyway, I am an 18 year old student in England, currently waiting on A level grades to see where I go to university. I live just outside Cambridge, but should be going to York in October to study Physics (yeah, moving away from Cambridge to study physics...), unless I messed up in the exams, ending up in Reading instead.
I hope to take a four year Hons Masters course in Physics, then go on to postgrad study and research. It is very likely that I will be taking some philosophy units in there as well, as the two departments are closely linked in both universities (try thinking about the implications of quantum theory on predetermanistic physics in the context of free will, and you will see what I mean). However, I have not taken any formal philosophy; just a lot of religious studies and cultural studies. Oh, and a great deal of unoffical stuff that comes in handy a lot.
Personaly, I am a strong athiest. I reject the concept of a God as unscientific and damaging to my field. However, I do accept that such concepts have their place. Well away from the lab. I normaly argue in any debate that involves religion (the three I feel most comfortable arguing are Christianity, Satanism (did research when I was younger) and Islam.
And now I am rambling. Tend to do that, particularly when I haven't actualy written anything in the last three days due to some b*****d taking down my ISP scream

I was invited to this guild by ochimaru. Any complaints... blame him first! ^_^
Truthfully, I have a lot of ideas which would be considered of a philosophical nature, but I honestly don't know which philosophers came up with them first. I haven't had the opportunity to read to many works, and I'm not too keen on the various philosophers, but I do try. However, from what I hear, I would really like the works of Nietzsche and Marx.
I find debating to be one of the easiest ways to test and learn information. In my time on the ED section of Gaia, I've learned quite a bit, and I hope to continue that trend in this guild.
So thank you, ochimaru, for inviting me, and I shall see the rest of you around the boards. ^_^

Well, Hello! I just got on because I (once again) can't sleep to find an invite to this guild! So a little about me.
I'm 18 years old and from Oregon, but I'm just starting my first year of college in North Carolina. I'm majoring in Therapuetic Horsemanship, but I have every intention of taking some other random classes that have interested me for years. Actually, I start my first philosophy class tomorrow morning! I've been interested in Philosophy for years, but never had the opportunity to take a class or anything, so I'm looking forward to this class. Other than that, I ride horses (thus the major), specifically eventing and dressage, if anyone in here happens to know anything about horses. I'll be trying out for my school's Intercollegiate Dressage team in a few weeks. I love theater, and I did many productions in high school, planning to continue that now that I'm in college. I prefer tragedy, as I have a bad habit of recognizing the absurdity of a situation when I'm doing comedy and breaking character. I'm also a singer, Alto (as you can tell from my sig). Can't read music, but I can sightread, which confuses people. Um... I'm afraid of big cities, and I hate shoes.
Glad to be here and look forward to meeting you all!

Hn...fresh meat...I mean...hi!
Somehow, while going to click on the 'Reply' button, I managed to entirely numb my left arm, so if there are any typing anomalies, I apologize in advance.
Well, I'm glad to see some new people in the guild, as it means more people to with my massively cryptic and largely annoying thought processes! Such as they are, anyway. And I'm still waiting for Maze to reply!...j/k, Maze. I had to say it.
