Journal Entry - January20/2006 - 1:07PM
...Oh. My. I had completely lost this journal, I've forgotten to update for quite a while!!

...Yeah, I know it's bad.

Anyways, I guess this will be a very... very.. long journal entry.

What has happened since the last time I updated? Over Christmas, me and Roule decided to crash with some friends of mine; who incidentally had a rather nice house and closet; which kept Roule rather amused for a few days, to say the least. The xmas party was rather intense, some of my friend's kids were dragged along too, and Roule was forced to make a few friends, well.. sort of. Not really. He played dress-up with Nathaniel, Stella, Keer and Norise, and truly enjoyed it; though it wasn't so much.. 'dress-up' as it was 'find the best outfit and show everyone else'. I believe it may have been the first and last time he wears a dress. Roule still likes shopping and stuff, I haven't been able to reign him in due to the well, shameless drinking I've been doing over the holidays; but come on! It was the holidays and I don't think he minded too much anyways. I kept believing he was growing up too fast, but Amy reassured me that he's just a kid that likes clothes, similar to a lot of little girls; except he's not a girl.

I remember some considerable purchases he made, a new fur sweater, more jeans, some sports shoes and a pair of fluffy slippers and new gloves. They're actually rather nice looking and I wish they some in my size now, it's a bit disappointing. Presents.. I got a hand painted card from Roule, (very endearing) and a pair of earmuffs, a sweater, a new tablet (!! though it was a bit hard to carry home), a snowboard, some wine and jewelry. Very very nice jewelry, albeit I'm debating on whether actually wearing it.. Never have been a jewelry person. I got Roule a teddy bear (he actually scowled when he got it, but he's been sleeping with it since), and a new scarf. He likes both, I reckon, he's been wearing them for a bit. I should wash the scarf, it's getting a bit dirty.

We spent New Year's at Amy's home as well, with a couple thousand people and basically counted down. Rouley kept almost falling asleep before midnight, but he had insisted that I wake him up before 12 so he can celebrate the first New Year of his life, which, yes, is very cute. He got sort of grumpy towards the end, but we watched fireworks and we were screaming and having a good time so he joined in; despite the fact it was 3-4 hours past his usual bedtime. Truthfully there was wine and champagne and I think Roule may have tried some himself but he wrinkled his nose and spat it out afterwards, and Norise was giggling at him so he ran off to chase her. Hectic, hectic night but very very fun. We exchanged a few wishes and pleasantries, but soon drifted off to sleep a while later. We woke up the next morning and left their home, y'know, well-rested and happy and everything. My car was filled with giftpacks and presents and Roule had to sit in the front seat, which yes, is irresponsible, but he kept whining about the large pile of presents next to him; and how they were going to fall down.

What we did after New Years.. I can't really remember. I was teaching Roule every to fill in the empty spots while he was on Winter Break at D-corp, and he actually does learn, amazingly. Well, he gets fed up easily and throws a few tantrums, but the kiddo absorbed most of the stuff I forced into him, haha. My computer got disconnected for a few days during it too, because of some stupid storms billowing in this sector of the city and we were trapped in the house for about 3 days without any technology. Very bleak, I've got to tell you. Very possibly the most boring 72 hours of my life, as we were snowed in so high. Roule got a lot of vocab done though, and hopefully he doesn't make so many spelling mistakes now.

And then.. the dreaded exams! I'm taking Physical Science and Biology for my major at the UofT, so there was this huge rush for me to start cramming for these exams. There goes along with a fair bit of neglect too, and I apologized to my little weasel many many times, making him understand that he'd have to go through his too, and it was torture and hell and everything he didn't want. I remember him whimpering, but nodding and he hugged me -- yes he did!! it was so cute. -- and hoped I did well. Veryyyy cute, I know. I still did take shopping breaks with him every weekend, and he seemed a bit subdued by that anyways. My exams were just last week! I did rather well in Biology --98-- but I have not seen my physics mark, and I'm fearing it now because I seemed to have been the only person in that whole damn gym that thought the test was remotely difficult! Oh well. Not much I can do except wait and hope I passed the course; I really need that major. I've put off my job too, so I've made due on rent by giving minimum payment, 20k and that was basically all I could do, and I told the land lord that I would pay fully once my exams were over.

He is a very huffy man, and briefly said, "sure." before leaving. Geez! But at least he was sort of understanding and allowed me to keep off the bills till next month, not that it does much good. I'll be going back to work next Monday (*sigh*) but at least D-corp is back in swing and I don't have to babysit Roule for too much longer. He starts to really pout and sulk and whine after he stays in the house too long, even during exam week.

Alright, I'll be checking in more often! I just hope this clears up most of the stuff I need to chat about, how I haven't updated for a clear month.

Mmmmh.

feb 13, 2007[backlog]

"What are you going to name your dragon, mia vita?"

The questioned posed made the weasel think. He really hadn't put thought into it (for some reason) - he knew Ma had told him his dragon was dangerously close to hatching.

"I dunno?" he replied, scratching his pale head in thought, "I guess I better start thinking... Since my dragon's coming soon, right?"

"Definitely. We could get the call anyday, you know."

The woman left her child to ponder, intent on making breakfast. She had a lecture this afternoon... Some stuff on Nutrional Immunology that really served her no purpose, but she thought it may help Roule a little in growing. He was awfully short for his age, afterall. A growing 12 year old boy, and he was shorter than the average 10 year old girl. Maybe he'll just stay small, like her?

The pale boy sat in his recliner for a while, ignoring his mother's yells to come into the kitchen to eat. Eating was for losers. Thinking, however, was something he liked doing. Roule twirled a piece of his hair on his finger. Maybe he should get a baby name book? That seemed a little primitive though. Certainly not what he wanted.

How did Ma pick his name? He presumed she did. It was a good name, but a little weird as far as he was concerned. Gambling... it wasn't a name so much as a word that could be aliased to be a name - no one was really called Roulette as far as he had seen.

Should he pick an equally strange yet comparable name for his dragon? It had to be cool though. His dragon would be all white and cold to the touch. Maybe he had to put gender to thought too - he really didn't have much of a preference, though if he got a bad-tempered female that didn't like clothes, he thought he might cry.

Why didn't he just think of some gender-neutral names? That always worked, right? Well... if he really liked a name, maybe he'd just stick to that gender.

Alice? As much as he liked the name, it really didn't suit a dragon.. Acedia. Pretty. Meant sloth though, in latin. Roule got up and quickly rushed to his mother's desktop, scurriedly typing. Latin names were always very very pretty... Let's see. Luxuria, Ira, Gula, Superbia, Avaritia, Acedia and Invidia. Any of them could make rather nice names for a female dragon if he got... a female dragon. Male names? Not so easy.

He had read the small dragon manuscript Ma had handed to him from D-corp. It had a little information but not much - nothing that could help him decide on a name for his white dragon. This was tricksy.

With a resigned sigh, the weasel started to browse his mother's computer. He did it every so often and Ma always got mad, but it didn't really matter now. He wasn't doing anything. He clicked back to his article on the deadly sins..

He browsed the web for a few minutes, idling clicking around sites. From the corner of his eye, he spotted a small tome resting on his mother's bed.

An italian dictionary..! He thought and rose to pick it up, sitting on the pale sheets and rustling through. He'd look at meanings later - if the name appealed to him.

Ghaccio.. Peccatore.. Gelo.. Vincere.

Vincere? That was rather nice, actually.. Well, he'd shorten it to Vince. It meant 'Win' too... how appropriate. Vince sounded a little... well, male. What if his dragon was a female? Hrm.. The little weasel continued to search.

Eira? That was nice too. Vince and Eira. Vince and Roulette, Eira and Roulette. Well, he covered both genders. Very good. Now he'd just have to show this to Ma. It wasn't like she could change his opinion - he liked the name just fine. But confirmation was always an ego-booster.

"Ma!" he said with a voice shriller than usual, stepping into the kitchen with slippers because he hated the place, "I've got a name! Come see."

Nev smiled and took a plate out of the fridge. "Are you eating?"

"Not until you see my name."

The woman cocked her head and shrugged, placing the dish in front of the pale child. "So what is it?"

"Vince."

"Oooh. Very nice choice. Is it short for anything?"

The weasel shrugged. "Vincere. But Vince is cooler, right? And if my dragon is a girl, I'll name her Eira."

"Well, alright. I'll go call D-corp again to see how Vinny or Eirie is doing, yes?"

"Ma, no nicknames! Especially since it's short already. I did that so you wouldn't make a weird nickname."

The woman pouted but sat down opposite him. "Now eat."

Roule grumbled but dug into his frozen breakfast - jello and cold eggs. He liked eating both hot and cold things but cold eggs and jello? One of his favorites. Not that he'd admit the strange recipe was one.

Vince... Eira... Just a few more days until you hatch, right?

"Roulette di Vieri, you get your butt down here!"

Nev scowled, cramming items into her purse in a flurry. Cellphone, pager, lip gloss, iPod, wallet... alright. She was good to go.

The weasel scrambled down the stairs, looking absolutely livid.

"WHAT?" he shrieked, hair in long, wet strands. He held a brush in his grasp tightly, blond hairs ravelled around the needles. "I was brushing my hair, woman!"

"We got a letter," replied Nev with a sadistic smirk, "from D-Corp, about your dragon."

Roule's eyes widened to the size of sauceplates. "You - what - OH MY GOD!" He scuttled back up the stairs and returned a bare minute later, all ready to leave. His hair was still wet but now had been tamed. The pale boy tugged at his mother's clothing impatiently, face contorted with glee.

"Let's go! Ma, let's go! We gotta see my dragon!!"

"Alright! Geez, you're a lot happier now, aren't you..." The black-haired woman picked up her keys from the counter and ushered her son out and promptly locked the door behind her. The boy rushed down the seven flights of stairs and ran across the road despite the yelps of Nev, got to the parking lot much before her.

The girl tutted before unlocking the car, and Roule sat himself into the front, despite his age. He always sat in the front; it made him feel important. He never liked seat belts, though he got why he had to wear them, especially up there.

"Faster, Ma! I need to meet my dragon! Did they tell you what gender it was?"

After the peltings of questions, Nev smiled. "A male. Vince, isn't it?"

"Vince!!" he squealed happily and sat back, apparently content with his mother's answer. Nev patted him on the head which earned her a dirty glare, and continued to make her way to D-Corp.

As they reached the parking lot, the woman had to remind the pale boy of what was going on. "Okay, we're just going to the dragon facilities, you understand? You can't run in there, and don't snoop in places you don't know about. Stay close." The weasel nodded in ferverance and tugged her hand as he went along the hallway. He knew exactly where his dragon was, anyways.

Upon getting to the door of the dragon wing, Roule stared up at it. It was a big... big door. Nev pressed the intercom and told the speaker her son's name and what their manner of coming was for. The doors slid open mechanically with a hydraulic woosh and closed behind the pair with the same sound.

Roule swivelled his head this way and that, amazed by the huge facility. There were giant stables and tubes and whatnot here, and the boy suddenly wished he had eight eyes like a spider.

They approached an engineer who looked gloomily up at them. He was standing in front of a large stall.

"Roulette?" He asked and flipped his clipboard glumly. The weasel nodded ethuthiastically.

"Mmk," he muttered and stepped aside. In the well lit room, there was a small form resting within the hay and straw. It was white and had sharp edges; Roule's heart lept up into his throat.

He stepped into the small area and whispered a slight "Dragon?" to the sleeping form. It stirred and Roule stepped back, but raising its head and grunting slightly, opening one dark eye.

It feels like a decade since I've written? Weh.

I'm not feeling too pretty right now. I checked the mirror this morning and I GOT A PIMPLE!!!!! RIGHT ON MY NOSE.

I think I cried.

IT'S AWFUL!! I'm not even 11 yet and I GOT A PIMPLE!!!

oh my god.

Ma didn't even care, she didn't even react but she got me this weird cream stuff that smells like apricots. T[]T It doesn't work. Well, not fast enough, 'cause it's STILL THERE!!

It means my skin is weird or something and oily but that can't be 'cause my skin can't be seen UNDER FUR!!! I had to pull some hair out so I could put the cream on and it's painful and I don't like it. sad

Ma sucks.

I HAVE A PIMPLE!! WAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Is that even possible? Weasels don't get pimples!! Human boys get pimples but I'm not even 100% of that!!

This is ridiculous. I won't be able to go outside at ALL! It must be removed! Where are the scissors?

I feel considerably better. Ma got me new stationary. :D

I think it looks rather vintage but pretty cool anyways, it's even got the Vieri arms behind it! I dunno where the last name came from ('cause it's definitely not Ma's coz she's chinese or something) but she says it's borrowed from one of her associates and I look more italian than oriental anyways - which I guess it's true, I'm blonde with an olive complexion rather than dark-haired and more beigey.

I did take a photo of my ugly pimple and I will SHOW YOU!! It's a pretty ugly little bugger, ehhh... Mang. It's not even gone yet, but it's been reduced to a little bump that will be gone soon so I'm not freaking out too much. I didn't even have to use scissors, how awesome is that!

Anyways. Me and Ma went to buy makeup (I got compliments on my uh, skin - some people are blind) and just cleansers and moisturizers for me while Ma got some lip gloss (ew) and nail polish (more ew unless it's clear and helps your nails grow, but I guess I wouldn't say no to a manicure)! We spent roughly around 7k which wasn't that bad actually, but she says we can't go shopping all that much. I guess I'm just getting used to it - how lame is that??

I miss going shopping but I'm not getting withdrawl systems anymore, which is good.. I mean, now I'm going to work out I think (well not seriously) but I want to keep in shape for my dragon that I hope is coming soon!! And for missions in D-corp and stuffu like that... Can't be a diva all my life.. (sigh) What weird thoughts for a 11 year old? But I guess I just grow up fast, teehee.

I think I'm going to get my hair done too, since this one is growing out all over the place since the last time I had it done. I wonder if we're gonna go back to that weird italian place... It was nice but the Il Divo guy was so creepy, hocarp.

Ma said I should learn italian because it's useful. Should I? I dunno. Maybe I'll take language classes. I'll check if they offer them at D-corp though I don't think they do.

Oh, Happy Independence Day to all you Americans, hehe.

'Til next time, Roule.

The pimple is gone, btw.

I feel a little weirder these days. I haven't written for three months, I know. Ma isn't around very much; I wouldn't be so angry if she actually took me to places still.

I told her to get me something to do when she was out. 'University' is her excuse but I don't think it's very fitting. I sit around all day and do nothing with Vince - it's not very amusing.

I'm going jogging now, around Barton. Some people give me a few weird looks but otherwise, I'm fine. Vince is pleased I'm exercising. I guess I need it? I'm too skinny. Skinny is nice, though. I don't really want to be muscled, 'cause then nothing will fit. I hate baggy things.

And wifebeaters ... no.

I'm bored, restless and yesterday I found I really like the taste and smell of blood. I think I'm a vampire. Or something like that. Ma never mentioned it before.

"Mia vita, I've got to rush out. My term paper's due today, I left breakfast on the table - "

The weasel child walked down the stairs slowly, rubbing his eyes and yawning. Neva paused, eyes fixated on the boy's hair, which was now choppily shorter, with various ends sticking up and out.

"It's.. short. Oh my god! Did you get caught in something? What happened?!" The woman immediately dropped her bags and rushed forward, hands reaching out for his hair. This was bad. Roule prided himself on his beautiful hair and refused to let her touch it, except for that haircut months ago - and even then, it had required huge amounts of coaxing and bribing.

Roulette yawned again and glared at his mother. "I cut it."

Neva's eyes widened, horrified. "Y-you? You cut it yourself?" She immediately tried to pat down a bunch of rebellious dark strands that had flaired up on the right side of his head.

"No," the pale boy waved his mother's hand away, "I got it cut at that place we went last time. I can't pronounce it. Pur iradarcy or something?"

Pausing again, Neva released Roule from her grasp. "How did you get there? Taxi?"

"No," deadpanned the weasel again, sounding exasperated, "I got a ride. From um, Zen. You left your phonebook on the table yesterday, so I figured..."

"You got him to drive you?" Inwardly, the woman breathed a sigh of relief. As badly as the two got along, she knew she could at least trust Zen with Roule. "You don't like him, though. Did you want a haircut that badly?"

Roulette looked away, suddenly sheepish. "I asked you... last week... but you said you were too busy..."

A sense of guilt panged in the woman's gut, and she tried to smile apologetically. It was the truth that she had had little to no time the past few months, and it had an adverse affect on Roule. University was taking its toll, but it was only her second year enrolled, and was bound to have its ups and downs in the future. For now, though... it wasn't good to neglect her child, even if it was unintentional.

"I'm sorry I've been away, but I'll try to be around more, alright?" The girl patted his head fondly - a flicker of annoyance crossed the weasel's face before Neva took him in for a giant bear hug. There was a pregnant pause before the pale boy reluctantly hugged her back, rolling his eyes since she couldn't see it. A moment of weakness... resulted in, what, Ma being late for whatever she was doing (term paper?) and him getting crushed in a hug that seemed to last way too long.

It was still nice, he grudging admitted.

Neva released him after a few moments. "I've got to go for an hour or so but when I come back, we can decide on something to do together." She winked, and Roule blushed again, feeling slightly embarassed. He was twelve! He was being treated like he was six, what with the hugs and reassurances and stupid sappiness.

Flippantly, Roule walked away to the kitchen without another word, leaving Neva to clamber her way out of the apartments, fervently wishing her professor would find her lateness excusable.

Ma's been freaking out over my hair. I dunno, I kinda like it... short. It's not as frustrating to wash it, that's for sure. It sticks out really weirdly though, even without gel (which is what that god guy put in...) but I guess I still like it. It's just rinse, shampoo and condition in the shower instead of me having to do bits and pieces at a time.

I think Vince approves, too. He hasn't been chewing it lately (well, not like he can now) but he doesn't try to anywmore. My hair is still sort of long, just above the shoulders but not like before... It's better, I think.

Anyway, Ma has been a bit better... we went to a movie last week at the cinemas and it was actually okay. I dunno if I really enjoy Led Zeppelin but it was funny to hear all the screaming. I was surprised to see no one really noticed vince but I even saw another dragon! it looked weirder and way skinnier than vince and the girl who had it didn't look like a d corp person...

Eh. I want to go shopping. Ma said we might go this weekend if I do this journal entry. She said she also needs to go sign me up for the classes for the d-corp... I hope I get to learn magic soon!! I think I'll be much better at it than swordplay...

I took a photo of my hair! It's grown a little longer since the last time I wrote, but here's a pic. Very dashing, no? Heh. I sometimes use gel because it looks nicer, but it's such a hassle. Ma bought me the stuff; it's called 'moving rubber' and works pretty nicely. too bad it doesn't smell all that great though. that is our bathroom as well, and the decor is ma's idea. I like the teal wallpaper but everything else is kinda.. tacky. it's nice on first look.. but we've lived here for too long and it's just weird now.

anyway, didn't do much for april fool's. we got lots of prank calls though, and the ugly landlord said he had to evict everyone. Ma freaked out for a while until I reminded her it was april first, and she calmed down. she's still a little edgy though, since the dude doesn't usually play jokes.

I got new pjs! I'm wearing them in the pic. they're blue-gray with lighter stripes and they're very comfortable. I haven't bought anything else, since though since Ma's limited my spending to ... well, 0 gold a week. she says if her income doesn't pick up, it'll be a while before I get new stuff.
