Antisana, Squire of Pluto
HP: 75
Action: fite, 1d10 for stage 2 physical damage
Combat Roll: 6
Damage/Healing/Buff Done: Spider 5 6/30; Spider 6 13/30; Sphere 2 5/50; Sphere 3 33/50; Sphere 4 50/50????

Alcor blasted through a handful of enemies with the pipe as a canon, but there still stood too many automatons between their group and the next door- which might have some other mechanism to be figured out with even more robots behind it. The circumstances didn't exactly look favorable... But at least for as close as Eleonora had gotten to the enemies, she avoided being their target and scurried safely back toward Antisana and Alcor.

"I was... hoping for a bit more," he admitted to the Senshi of Heat, tone soft and nearly apologetic, despite having no control over the damage their makeshift weapon could do. Since the pipe was still there, and they were still in extremely near proximity to it, he gave the pressure plate a quick rap-rap with the bottom tip of his staff- and nothing happened, of course. ...It wouldn't have made sense if it had gone off, but oftentimes things dealing with these Senshi worlds and magic didn't make sense to begin with. And another canon blast to their foes wouldn't have gone amiss.

In lieu of that, Antisana was forced to work with what he had, which was a particularly honed amount of upper arm strength and staff with a certain girth reminiscent of a baseball bat. It shouldn't be hard to figure out where he's going with this.

The nearest enemy was one of the taller-human-sphere-things, and he swung at its metal frame with the terrarium-topped head of his staff.

Urania
HP: 96
Action: Moving out of the way of the trap
Interaction Roll: n/a
Damage/Healing/Buff Done: n/a
Enemy HP: Spider 5 6/30; Spider 6 13/30; Sphere 2 5/50; Sphere 3 33/50; Sphere 4 50/50

Urania saw Muri’s attack and smiled. Both had unleashed an attack as soon as the door opened.

One of the humaniod-like sphere launched a gear at her and it glanced her arm, ripping a ragged hold in her glove. She looked back to see one the other senshi — the one with the senshi of heat — shout to the group.

“That’s a great idea. Use the system’s own traps against them. I’ll get out of the way quick.” She whispered the name of her attack.

“Urania’s Heavenly Step!”

A row of stars appeared under her feet and allowed her to jump away with ease.

Eternal Murikabushi of Hunger
HP: 90 / 100.
Action: Moving forward to be in range, then attacking Sphere Three, Sphere Four, Spider Five, and Spider Six.
Damage Done: 18.
Enemy HP: Spider 5 0/30; Spider 6 0/30; Sphere 2 0/50; Sphere 3 15/50; Sphere 4 32/50

Murikabushi didn’t need to be told twice. He was already getting away from the trap, but the need to get past Alcor’s trap gave him extra motivation to move quickly. Maybe he should’ve paid better attention, though, because the second sphere managed to get a solid swipe in at his leg as he ran past.

(In the back of his mind, Murikabushi was grateful for two things about the blow and where it had landed. First, that his fuku’s heavy robes and sleeves might have made his arms and torso less appealing targets, assuming these things could think that much. And second, that if the automaton’s blade left a mark on the other side of some healing magic—maybe he could bother Kerberos for some assistance when everyone got home?—at least it wouldn’t likely be confused for anything self-inflicted.)

Damn it, though. Even though the trap had gone off and done a number on the enemies, several of them yet remained. They had to get serious, and fast, or else they might not have made it to join the rest of the group. Leaving them to face whatever might have waited at the eternal engine alone wasn’t an option, so Muri called on the most powerful magic he had available to him. Hopefully, it would be enough.

Quote:
Eternal Sailor Attack: Hunger’s Hollow.
Murikabushi extends an arm and snaps a finger to call up this magic. Enemies within 20 feet become wracked by the feeling of extreme hunger and deprivation, the sort where you feel drained and empty, like simply existing is too much effort. Physically, they will feel an empty stomach, body aches, and hunger pangs (however those feel for them) that refuse to be tuned out. These pains are accompanied by desperation to satiate a hunger within them (which can be for anything: food, drink, affection/intimacy, alcohol or narcotics, the answers to the math homework, etc.), but a sense that they will never be satisfied. Targets may also experience any combination of: dizziness, disorientation, emotional hypersensitivity, inability to focus, increased anger, decreased impulse control, decreased emotional control/regulation, and/or feelings similar to depression.

The magic ends after 45 seconds, but characters may experience lingering side-effects at player discretion. Murikabushi may use this attack once per battle.

Sailor Tianyi
HP: 50/50
Action: Throwing debris at Sphere 4!
Damage Done: 1
Enemy HP: Spider 5 0/30; Spider 6 0/30; Sphere 2 0/50; Sphere 3 15/50; Sphere 4 31/50

When the warning was called out that the steam trap was going to go off, Tianyi pressed himself tight against the wall, praying that he was far enough out of the way. So far, he had managed to do absolutely nothing--spending precious time panicking and twisting himself up about whether or not he could even manage to try and do anything to help.

It was long enoguh to watch the automatons come rolling on. To watch them attack his friends.

To realize that seeing all that happen in front of him--seeing people hurt when he couldn't do anything, when he was too scared to help, made him angry.

He'd been helpless before.

He didn't want to be helpless again.

Not this time.

Still, he was hesitant as he scooped a piece of debris off the floor. He barely knew how to do this. Was absolutely beyond not a fighter.

Still, he had to try. So he hefted what looked like it had once been a small piece of the ceiling at the sphere that had lagged behind the others.

Hati, Super Senshi of the Cu-Sithe
HP: 70/75
Action: Casting magic again
Interaction Roll: 10 + 2 = 12
Damage/Healing/Buff Done:
Enemy HP: Sphere 3 3/50; Sphere 4 19/50

"Oh, ******** off!" he shouted at the spider that came at him, putting a deep scratch into his arm. He hissed in pain, clamping his other hand on the scratch to keep it covered. It wasn't a bad one, but... He should probably check if his tetanus shot was up to date when he got home?

Taking a breath, Hati let himself be pulled out of the way by Eleonora. Unfortunately, the steam trap only did so much damage—but that did mean less use of magic. Hati doubted that these little monsters were the only ones they had in their path. Having only one security measure didn't seem accurate.

"Moor Stalk," he said sharply into the hallway, shifting to ensure he caught both automatons in his lesser magic spell.

Quote:
A deafening silence settles over everyone within a ten foot radius. Shortly after the silence falls, a single, deep bark echoes through the area, and suddenly every enemy within the radius feels like they are being watched by a large, dangerous creature. The silence can be disorienting; no matter how loud anything is, while the magic is in effect they cannot hear anything but the bark--and maybe the sound of something heavy breathing just behind them. Paranoia, anxiety and fear for the invisible thread are prominent for the duration of the magic, and may persist for longer if the player desires. This attack affects all enemies within ten feet and lasts for twenty five seconds; it can be used three time per battle.

It seemed that the automatons were smart enough to recognize when they were outmatched.

Between the steam trap and their fellows falling to pieces, the remaining spheres seemed to make that particular judgement--both fell back, speeding down the hallway, and at the end of it, the doors came open with a wheezing sigh of steam and a thunk of gears.

And they stayed open.

There, at the end of the hall, was the path to the Eternal Engine.

Quote:
Congratulations! There is now a clear path to the Eternal Engine! Feel free to post exits from this thread, heading down the hallway!

The next part will begin shortly.....

Tempesti couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief when the automata retreated, glad that they didn’t have to destroy all of them. Maybe Sailor Asmodeus would be able to help them someday, or even rebuild the ones that got the worst of their attacks. She couldn’t know if they had anything she’d recognize as emotion, but it seemed better to err on the side of kindness.

As the doors opened, the senshi all but jumped with the gleeful excitement of a curious child. She had no idea what to expect on the other side of those doors, but she could hardly contain herself as she hurried toward the entrance.

Aruna felt herself pulled out of the way, wincing as Tempesti took the brunt of the attack. She shot her friend a grateful smile, standing back as the last of the automata retreated. She breathed a sigh of relief and brushed her fuku off, looking around. The door was open, and there was a clear path thankfully, so she followed beside Tempesti and made her way through the door with the others.

Seeing the wound on Hati’s arm made the Senshi of Heat suck in a sharp breath through clenched teeth. Guilt struck her when she realized how roughly she had yanked him out of the hallway, prioritizing his safety over his well-being. Still, her slate-blue eyes softened with genuine remorse as she reached out, hesitating just before touching his injured arm.

“I’m so sorry,” she murmered, her expression one of genuine worry. “I don’t recall hearing if there was a healer here with us. But I know that there’s one in the other group.” Rainier had introduced Acrucis to them before splitting into separate teams. While Eleonora had hoped her magic wouldn’t be needed, a quick glance around the room made her glad that the Squire had the forethought to bring her friend. “I’m sure she’ll be able to help you.” she added, though uncertainty lingered in her tone since she didn’t know the full extent of the Senshi of Prayer’s healing abilities.

Eleonora turned to Antisana and her sister, offering both a small smile and an approving nod, a wordless acknowledgment that they had done good. “I guess we move forward from here.” Fortunately the three of them remained uninjured, but there was no telling what challenges awaited them in the room up ahead.

Urania
HP: 96
Action: Moving out to the next room
Interaction Roll: n/a
Damage/Healing/Buff Done: n/a

“Woah!”

As the last of her stars disappeared and she leap from the temporary platform, the massive attack from the trap was unleashed.

Her eyes sparkled despite the last automations repatriating. The steam trap was amazing. What wonders this planet held in its technology!

Urania looked around. The doors were staying open. The way ahead was clear.

She nodded to Eleonora. Her powers were not of healing and any who needed help would have to rely on the other group. She wondered if they would be there already. What challenges had the north path presented them? If only Erytheia were here with his healing.

But here she was in her element. Exploration was what she did. There was one more room to explore. She would move ahead and face it. And, perhaps, see the famed Eternal Engine for herself. She had so many questions for Asmodeus already. Yet the next room awaited and she confidently walked through the door.
