Name: Kaifeng, Squire of Saturn
HP: 58 + 14 = 72 / 75 HP.
Action: Being healed. Being proud of Lanting. Then, returning to Monoceros’s side so they can cross the bridge together.
Damage Done: N/A. Not attacking!

Kaifeng’s attack at the garbage-monster had struck true, he was pretty sure. That alone made him feel pretty great. But once he’d knocked the beast around a bit more, he noticed that he felt even better. The nagging feeling that he could afford to lay down and just. stop.—it felt weaker, somehow. Physically, the areas around his chest, arms, and back where he’d expected to come up with bruises all felt practically brand new.

Looking around for the source, Kaifeng first spotted the orchids that had bloomed beneath his and certain other people’s feet. He hummed softly, tracing them back to the center, their origin point, whereupon he saw—

“Lanting!”

Kaifeng grinned brightly, beaming at the younger knight in older sibling-adjacent pride. He bounced through his steps as he got closer to Lanting. The monster seemed like it had gone down by now—or at the very least, it seemed like it didn’t have any life left in it for anybody to deal damage—so Kaifeng didn’t need to worry about turning his back on anything, he felt pretty certain. Better to bound over to Lanting’s side and make sure he got his due thanks and got to hear someone say they were proud of him. Plus, Kaifeng had promised Monoceros that he’d come back.

“Aiyah, well done,” Kaifeng told Lanting, giving him the same bright grin and a thumbs up. He wanted to pat the boy on the shoulder, but powering up to Squire in the middle of a big fight like this sounded very stressful. Simply powering up against a youma one-on-one had been quite a bit for Kaifeng to process, and Lanting had powered up to Squire in significantly bigger, messier circumstances. “The Squire rank-up looks good on you, didi. And thanks for the healing, practically good as new over here.”

With an energetic laugh, he added, “Couldn’t have been a better moment for it, either. We all need whatever strength we can get for the big guy at the center. Keep up the good work, yeah?”

Shooting Lanting another thumbs up, Kaifeng bounded back to Monoceros’s side, all smiles and optimism. “How’re you doing, friend? Everything holding up okay?”

Character Name and journal link Hyperborea, Transcended Knight of the Cosmos
HP: 90/100 (-1 from attacks, Article of Resilience) (+ 15)
Action: Providing heals with her summons
Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 10 + 3d4 (5) = 15

Hyperborea easily shrugged off the raining debris, it was disgusting but it didn't hurt the bulky knight at all. She spied the black core and readied to attack it again with her magic but before she could the others struck the beast down. She lowered her staff with a grin over the group's victory. Her smile grew brighter still as she saw a Page attain his promotion to Squire. She didn't know the man but it made her happy to see any knight grow stronger.

She conjured her warhorn to her hand and channeled her magic into it to summon Cerynitis to her side. The white doe with it's amethyst eyes and golden antlers nuzzled her head against the knight's side before dipping it's head to the ground to cast it's nebula like magic.

"If anyone needs healing gather around me!" Hyperborea called to the others.

Cerynitis
Cerynitis dips her head to the ground which creates a nebula like illusion on the ground where she is standing. Once she has touched the ground, the nebula will not move with her, but everyone within radius will be affected by her magic. The nebula feels heavenly to be in, and the longer a character is in radius, the more they heal. At twenty seconds, minor injuries will be completely healed, at at thirty seconds moderate injuries will turn to minor injuries, and at sixty seconds, major injuries are reduced enough to stabilize them until they can get immediate treatment.

Character Name and journal link Voyager Squire of Pluto
HP: 58/75 + 15 = 73
Action: recovering from monster attack
Damage/Healing/Buff Done: 0
Healing Received: 15

Voyager only barely managed to hold himself back from cursing out loud as the creature ACTUALLY EXPLODED?!?!?! He tried to dodge away from it but some still got in his face and he could feel himself retch for a moment before he was able to wipe it away.

And unfortunately that had distracted him enough to the point where he hadn't been able to get another attack in before the creature was defeated. He was glad that it was gone though. He didn't know how much longer he could take before he just decided to use all of his magic in one go to see if he could at least stop from getting splattered so much.

The other thing he felt though was a change in power in an Aura and it looked like one of the Page's that had come along was now a Squire! Voyager couldn't help but cheer for him! "Awesome!" He yelled over to the other, before realizing once again he was covered in... well he would just call it "gunk" for now.

He moved over to Hyperborea to take up the Knight's offer for healing and was glad that he could feel his wounds, and the gunk coming off of him.

Next was the main boss though and he wasn't sure how prepared he was to face it.

Eternal Deep Space Selinur.
HP: 72/100
Action: Talking with Alastor
Damage/Healing/Buff Done:
Boss HP: Dead

It seemed like his earlier thought that the monster might be able to just...fall apart seemed true, though he'd wondered if it could throw itself at them till nothing was left. It seemed that there was some gooey and nasty center to this beast and it could blow it's shell apart - and all over them. Yelping he threw an arm up to try and cover himself, he did not need more debris and stink on himself. Wrinkling his nose, covering it with a sleeve once trash had stopped falling, the blond let his eyes fall onto his fellow ancient. "No, not that I'm aware of. Selinur didn't face such...issues." The other knew what had happened, or at least more than anyone else did. He hadn't told Alastor everything but he'd told him something, which was more than anyone else had really heard from him. Ida knew about the same amount as well.

"We should still arange a trip there together." Dangerous as it may be he knew he was safe there, so he was hoping otehrs would be. "I've been there and I've been well...but I still worry a bit for others." How could he not? He wasn't going to invite people to help and than watch them all die a horrid, though quick, death. He wasn't even sure he should be asking Alastor to join him on his planet, to take the risk, but he could only assume the place was safe. "Though maybe I should bring things from there to here first...to make sure it's safe."

He added after a moment, though who would test the samples from his planet he was unsure. Though he did remember Alastor mentioning something about that - hadn't he. "I think we need to talk more at length abotu things, sooner rather than later perhaps."

BOSS HP: -15/350

The creatures were clearly weakened by the relentless assaults, made smaller and weaker. Each hit seemed to tear pieces off of them, and while they reformed, the reformation was slower and slower each time.

They were losing. Faltering.

Finally, with all but one defeated, all four withdrew back to the central island, clearing the way forward.

Eternal Sailor Alastor
HP: 83/100
Action: Lucien is on his shoulder, talking to him and Selinur, offering his hand to Sigiriya to help him up

Alastor let the corner of his lip twitch into a smile as Lucien praised him, but only because he thought it was amusing that the Mauvian was always so eager to support him. Truthfully, Alastor couldn’t tell which blow had been the last, but he was happy to have helped see it destroyed.

If you could really call it that. It had enough energy to retreat but he’d have been happier to see it totally obliterated.

Especially because there was still one more remaining, and at least this guardian had slid off to rejoin it.

“I suppose this Chaos is more tolerable in the short term. I wouldn’t want to have lived here.” He had a very prominent recollection of Villefort, if only because of the sting in the air and the foulness of the land. He could tell that Lucien was agitated and Alastor didn’t blame him. He wanted to be done here, for more reasons than one.

“I’d still like to visit Selinur. Lucien can vouch for me, I’m hardy.” But Michael would worry, so the practical thing to do was to get things tested first to plan for the safest way to do that. “So I suppose, the faster we can get those tests run, the faster I can be cleared to drop by. Lucien can test things for us, he used to do that a lot for me back in the old days.”

Ah, assuming Lucien remembered. Even if he didn’t, he was clever enough to figure things out. Alastor could get him the information he needed, and Soleiyu could help if they needed to get anything off the ground.

…Projects best left in the back of their minds for now. It was good to dream of the future, but they still needed to deal with the present.

He nodded to Selinur to indicate that they should start walking, but on the way out he paused by the seated Ida Squire. Without thinking much, he offered his hand to Sigiriya to help him up. He hadn’t seen what had happened to put him there but he knew it probably hadn’t been good. They were near Hyperborea and her summon so he hoped that if the Squire had been injured by the creature that her healing could benefit him.

“You all right?” he asked, balancing the Mauvian on his shoulders easily and staying mindful of his posture so he didn’t jostle him off or earn the ire of his claws.

Sigiriya of Ida
HP: 48+15=63

Just sit there. Don't move. Don't think. Don't breathe.... lay down and let the void just take you away.

Sig wasn't really willing to move. He didn't want to get up or even wonder why he didn't want to. He just floated on a feeling of 'disinterest' for both himself and others around him. It wasn't until a swath of colors and little flashes of lights drifted over him that he was able to focus on something, anything, other than just nothing. As the seconds ticked by he could breathe easier and generally felt better.

And yet he still didn't really move until an eternal senshi (Alastor), it was the wings that gave that away, with a cat on his shoulder (Lucien) offered him a hand up. "Oh, um, thanks." He took the offered hand and climbed to his feet. "I'm ok, I was just..." He trailed off with a frown as Sig remembered just what was going through his head. "Good lord," He practically cursed, "Is that normal for chaos? To like seep in and try to get you to just give up? That's bloody horrifying!"

Swallowing nervously the squire just stood there and surveyed their surroundings, learning once again just how dangerous this fight he stumbled into was. No wonder Antares wasn't happy about him becoming a knight.

"Thank you. Really. I appreciate it.” Sig once more thanked the senshi, glad for the hand up and in general the concern they showed.

Eternal Sailor Alastor
HP: 83/100
Action: With Lucien and Selinur, talking to Sigiriya

Alastor flashed a quick, apologetic smile. “Unfortunately, it seems to be a common trend. I doubt it’ll get much better from here on out, but just trust in yourself. Don’t listen to whatever it says.”

Which was easier said than done but it was the best advice he had. “If you have a reason for fighting, keep it at the forefront of your mind. Focus on that and not whatever else it tries to tell you. Chaos is weak, at its core. That’s why it works so hard to get you to stop fighting.”

Not all Chaos was the same but Alastor truly believed that at its core it was weak. That’s why it tried to keep everyone at bay and let their own minds tear them apart.

The Negaverse was an anomaly, but out here, in the deeper corners of the universe?

Chaos was a poison. Or, maybe it was more accurate to say it was a pollution of the mind. Here, at least.

“I’m Alastor. This is Lucien,” he nodded to the Mauvian, and then the Senshi at his side, “And Selinur. If you get overwhelmed out there, call for me. I’ll have your back.”

Maybe it wasn’t much, but no one should have to deal with any of this alone. He had a good head on his shoulders–well, two, as long as Lucien stayed up there too–so he knew he might have better luck ignoring the Chaos. In the heat of combat, it was easy to lose yourself. It was a bit less so if you had someone watching your back.

Sigiriya of Ida
HP: 63/75HP

Sig nodded, understanding, really understanding, why Tortuga insisted on coming on this mission. While he had been in fights, he had been drained and had nearly died... this apathy was by far much more terrifying for him. He would definitely need to keep a reason for fighting in the forefront of his mind. He did not want to succumb to those whispers and thoughts again.

"Sigiriya, squire of Ida. While it might not be the best of times, its still nice to meet you Alastor, Luciena, and Selinur." He introduced himself even as his gaze drifted to their next challenge. Hopefully their final challenge. He stood there and all he could think of was a Churchill quote; 'Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.'

There was no option to turn around. No option to go home. Forward was the only way. "I'll definitely keep that in mind," He smiled weakly at Alastor's offer of assistance before starting forward. "No time like the present after all," Sig bolstered his flagging confidence with reminders of his little girl at home and Dessie. Always Dessie.
