Did he just issue a challenge to her? Looking towards Narky, she smiled as he was just in his own world. "Just eat sweetie. I have something to deal with." Getting up, she would not even use her shield. It was pointless if he wasn't going to attack back. Pulling out Trinity from under the table, she stood to her two feet. She knew he was much older with much more experience than just her in her sophomore year of Beacon. It was all about proof that he could handle them right? She was just one of the many. Yet. somehow she felt she needed to prove a solid point of her own. "Okay Sensi. I will indulge in your challenge." She smiled as she hoped for her own sake she didn't fail.

Attempt 1: She didn't even use her ax. Putting it on her back, she would use her acrobatics to try and take him down. Getting a running start, she would get a forward momentum as she looked to take him down. Using her core strength, she attempted a a flying scissor legs .

Attempt 2: If that didn't work she would recover quickly as at this point she would be behind him. Using her ax extended pole, she would swing around and attempt to hook him at the ankles. Retracting back the pole to shorten it, she would take her right legs and push his back to aid in him fall over.

Attempt 3: If he was still left standing, she wo9uld be a little frustrated, but none the less, still determined. This was her now or never moment. She had a few seconds left to make her move if it had gotten to this point. It was a sad attempt, but she did a leg sweep.

Maybe she did need more training, but it was a good try. That was all she could do. If she succeeded, that was a relief, but she was never one to stop learning. If she failed. she was would embarrassed and apologize. Either way, no harm done or at least she hoped .

ooc: In the video, it is the first running scissor takedown.

Sváfnir Nuntis
Son of Agmundr & Eydís

Those who bare the mark of the Dragon....

Sváfnir in his speech buckled and fell into a perfect seated position following Peninnah's order and knee checks from behind with her axe. Sváfnir shot Peninnah a look. What was that for? You must have the same qualms as me Pen Pen. Sváfnir stated in earnest trying to reason his opinion across. I won't be trained by someone who has no more than I do. Sváfnir says before silencing himself as Peninnah voiced his same concerns, in her more subtle way, soon Sváfnir's attention was turned back to the man who referred to them all as dragonlings and smiled having had his proposal accepted by the man the Warrior flashed Peninnah a smile and took to his feet once again but this time on the floor.
Hands still painfully throbbing from the wounds Sváfnir thought up an attack on the spot. In a brilliant display of his driven Acrobatics/athletic prowess Sváfnir built his momentum and landed the strike. Sváfnir a but taken back by the sudden stop he hit and the hardness of his body so much so he was not prepared for a sudden counter that connected with his jaw and sent him skidding across the ceiling and ultimately through a table in the far end of the room that had no food. Adding insult to injury in his time of daze he was lectured and even had little Rose come to his aid and took a peek at his wounds beneath the wrap. Though no where near as Distraught as him and even seeming at easy with his affliction. What's more was she mentioned Peninnah was going through something similar, though he did not know if that was true or not but to think Peni was enduring it all the same was a cause for concern and with Roda so unaffected by this change of her sister made him all the more worried.
Taking to his feet after hearing the whole of the white haired male had spoken Sváfnir grinned at the earnest meaning behind the words and soon made for his seat again where he saw the white haired female he also didn't recognize try her hand where he failed. You ok little Peni Sváfnir asked vague in his words to Peninnah as he focused on the spectacle.

Peninnah looked to Svafnir with bemusement and calm as he threw a small tantrum. Her eyes clearly spoke: "Shut up you idiot." She then turned her crimson eyes to the one called Pyrve as she mentioned humans. "Speak for yourself," Peninnah commented with a sigh. As much as she'd hate to admit it, but ever since the scales...she had been questioning her "human" status. She would take another sip of her tea though, quiet for now as she would observe now. Waiting for the elder's reply...until her attentions went to Narky as he had a meltdown of sorts.

She giggled softly from Narky's reaction and making a circle of salt. Looking to Thyra and Alois momentarily, she was wondering what they were thinking. At least until Svaf went on challenging the elder Faunus.
"Too predictable..." she said with a sigh, but she was thoroughly intrigued. As she had presumed, the man claiming he was of Vacuo origins and as old as he was, he was stronger than any of them; for now. Svafnir of course, was thrown into a table, and it was the female idiot's turn; her use of Sensei (whatever the ******** that meant) was odd, but she would not comment on it). Peninnah couldn't watch the first attempt, due to Rosa's voice and words. Her eyes flamed with anger. "Rosa, has time with that idiot boy dulled your brain," Peni snapped harshly, though not raising her voice. She did not want others of the family knowing of her scales yet...It was something she had wanted to lean into honestly.

"The girl at least is persistent at least," The petite young woman thought as she turned attention back to Pyrve's attempts. Though she noted the girl had gotten behind their future teacher somehow, she just watched in silence. "I'm fine." She replied simply, which was the truth. Peninnah did feel fine, but she was seething a bit. Her sister had done something obnoxious and now she was trying to calm herself. "*Sigh* Guess it cannot be helped," Peni thought before lifting up her hair to reveal the bright red reptilian scales down along her sides. "Like I said...I'm fine" She said calmly before letting her hair fall once more. It would not be long before Sinn had finished with the girl either as her crimson eyes returned to their teacher.

Alois walked into the room ignoring the white haired female about how he was talking to the whimsical white haired boy. "Tch! Whatever!" he spat. He picked Thyra up by the back of her shirt and carried her like luggage. "You're more trouble than you're worth, shrimp!" he said through his teeth. Alois just didn't want to deal with whatever came after her getting soaked by the rain. Because he ALWAYS had to deal with it. He approached the door and before that he inhaled a scent of a feast. "Well, this is surprising." he thought. The more he smelled, the more familiar it was. Vacuoan spices and meats lingered and danced in the air. His mouth started to salivate as memories were brought back to him. This reminded him of all the food their little makeshift family made and stole. He stood his sister on her feet and witness the spread before them. "This actually looks pretty good." he said aloud. He wiped his drooling mouth with his sleeve with a grin. His eyes immediate went for the steaks and desserts. "Heh!" was all he said before grabbing his victuals. He leaned up against the wall and began to shovel vegetables, meats and desserts into his gullet. And in no particular order. Alois makes it a point to note where everyone in his team was sitting. He watched as many interactions as he could while trying to notice anything important. His eyes perked as the storm began to intensify. The smell of rain nearly overpowering for him. It was barely noticeable, but he could smell someone approaching. He looked towards the door and saw, what looks like a battle hardened man that was just barely taller than himself. Alois looked him up and down and could tell he was VERY strong. The older man carried a large log left arm and a flat metal bat in the right. He hummed at the man in acknowledgement.

He continued to chow down."Red and brown hair, good amount of bulk and muscle and what looks to be a tattoo. And horns?" Alois analyzed as the man placed the long at the far corner of the room. Following him with his eyes, their instructor sealed the door he entered? Dragonlings? Was that what he called them? This is new. Not only that, but the veteran said that a few were missing. So there were more 'Dragonlings' than those in the room. Alois listened instead of speaking up. After all, his mom told him he had two ears and one mouth for a reason. He let everyone else ask the questions assuming they would all be general. The man answered his questions in no time flat. Why they were here? To train and compete. That summed up the questions the hot-headed dread-head wanted to know. He continued to eat as the man said to eat up. Alois felt a bit upset considering he ate without the hosts permission. His mom would chop him for that if she ever found out.

With a bit of interaction from his peers, the one called Svafnir challenged the man. Not the best idea considering he was injured. Alois could smell the wound and blood. Not only that, it seemed like he could tell how strong the man was. Or just didn't care. Same with the girl he ignored about the whimsical boy. With an impressive display, especially considering the wound, Svafnir launched a beautiful attack. Sadly, and not surprisingly, it ends like you thought. Alois follows the flying body through the air with his eyes while taking a bite of some fish. The red-haired girl ran for him immediately to help him. "That's a good woman. Must be related." he thought. She's Peninnah's sister, right? Don't know how the wires got crossed. Alois' eyes land back on the man as he gets another challenger. He shook his head practically predicting that it was gonna end similarly. "At least she did some follow-ups." he thought. Alois trailed his eyes to Peninnah to see the scales on her skin. "I feel like I understand what might be happening here, but it's damn near unbelievable." he thought.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Sinn dealt with the first dragonling, he would note one of the younger whelps would rush off in his direction. Seeing she did not seem to be challenging him and was more concerned for Pace, he let her fade from his focus as quickly as she had entered it. There was much else to take his attention, as the one known as Narkyena seemed to take it. He had seemed frightened of him upon his entry, and soon after he had dealt with Svafnir he had rushed to make a...salt circle around himself. 'Is this all that is left of the oracle's blood?' he wondered to himself, not particularly impressed. While it was amusing...he did not need a fearful dragonling for the future. Before he could fully address and have Pyrve challenge him, Narkyena would begin to speak quickly in a confusing flurry. Despite the flurry and energy, Sinn did make out a few key points of his words. The first was that none of them looked like dragons; it seemed he was following the same line as a few others. Not partial, fully, to the extend of Narkyena's amnesia yet, he lumped the whelp in the same boat as Mulan. He would then ask if the training would turn them to dragons, if they were fighting to the death, and not to eat his soul... 'I need to read over his file from Beacon further it seems,' he thought to himself as the boy came off as a bit strange. Sinn made the decision to address this later; primarily because Pyrve would accept his challenge, and he didn't need to mull over a response during her trial. He was sincere in his word though; if she won, she would be given a pass. 'Let's see if you live up to the Barone name,' he thought as he waited on her.

What wasn't lost on Sinn, when she had accepted the challenge, was the slight arrogance in her words as she pulled out her weapon from beneath the table. As Sinn awaited, he would be mildly surprised to see her put the axe to her back rather than use it. Curious on what she was planning, he did not have to wait very long. She would get a running start, but rather than bull-rush him like it seemed, she would do a mini jump shortly before him; 'She is going high,' he realized suddenly. As she did the second jump, her hands would go to his shoulders as she began to lift her legs up as well. Not wanting her to continue whatever it was she was up to, Sinn would move his hands to below her thighs and use her own momentum/his strength to push her up and above him so she would go behind him. The move had caught him slightly in surprise, but that early mini jump had hinted her jump. Whatever she had intended, it was a clever move. He would begin to turn to her; even as confident as he was in his balance and strength, being attacked from behind was a severe disadvantage. Due to his own slowness, as she would draw her axe from her back and then extend it, he was only half turned to her before she would continue. He would see a blur of motion as she would swing her axe low, towards his feet. Lifting his right foot, as that would be the one closest to her in his turn, he would stomp down onto the flat of the blade to try and pin it to the ground. Whether she had planned for it or not, he would feel the blade suddenly shift and try to go back to her. He lifted his foot to let it go rather than have it make him slip, with her following up quickly with a kick with her right leg to try and knock him over. It made him stumble, uncertainly, till he planted his foot back down. Once it was down, he was secure in his footing and not budging. 'Creative, but too slow,' he thought to himself. Had she been a bit faster or had the axe more at the ready she may've gotten him. As she went for her final attempt of a leg sweep, Sinn had finished to fully face her. Her legs would impact, make him sway a tiny bit, but ultimately not move him as she impacted unyielding muscle. Her ten seconds were up.

"Time is up. Rise dragonling; it is my turn now," he would say to her in a calm tone as he would wait for her to rise; saying it was his turn once she was fully up. However, he made no moves for the first four seconds of his ten besides staying right up by her. Instead, he was merely looking her over for a moment to size her up. Then, at the four second mark, his eyes would lock onto hers. Without any indication to his attack, he would suddenly knee her in the gut. Not letting up in the slightest, he would follow it up with a right hook to her head, and a left uppercut meant to send her flying/falling to the floor similar to Svafnir. However, if she did not fly/fall and was still standing, he would step forward and grab her by the throat. When he stepped forward, it was specifically to her left so his foot would be behind hers; and as he grabbed her throat, he would shove down. The shove was meant to combine with his legs placement to trip her at the same time, with him guiding her straight to the ground. Regardless of if it were the punch or the shove, Pyrve would go down. Leaving her to recover on her own, he would rise back up now and look to the rest. "Let that answer any doubts; you are all here to learn. If you didn't need training, you would not be here," he would say to them all; pausing to see if there were any other challengers. During which, he would notice one of the girls, Penninah if he got the name right, reveal scales. 'Good, I gathered them on time,' he thought to himself. He would, if Pyrve were still on the ground, offer his hand to help her up now if she chose to accept it. His eyes would then settle back on Narky, whether or not he had helped Pyrve up; his earlier questions not forgotten. "This is not a death match, this is meant to bring out your potential; both alone and with others. I also have no desire for your soul; nor will salt protect you," he would simply say to the boy. His expression would soften very slightly. "With that aside, enjoy the food, get to know each other. We shall have an early start tomorrow, and you will be shown your rooms once everyone is done," he would say before settling down himself to eat. If unbothered, he would eat a bit of the meat himself and stay mostly quiet/to himself. He was not opposed to talking with any who tried though.
[Feel free to talk or ask questions/chill. Next mod post, dinner portion will be over and Sinn will move them on to their rooms.]

Unsurprisingly, Narkyena would seem to perhaps apologize with a mouth still full of food; it was quite amusing to hear nonetheless. Pyrrhus shook his head softly in response to it with a small chuckle, focusing back on his food. He had been pleasantly surprised by how good it was, having been expecting this to act more like a boot camp he was expecting food of a much...worse quality and taste. 'Sinn, at the least, seems to know good motivation,' he thought to himself. He still found it curious the host was absent; it was not the best impression to not be around when they had come at his invitation. Even less so when the invitation was less optional and more...required. Such thoughts on the person behind this event and what may come lingered in mind as he absently noted the remaining people seat themselves. It seemed he would have a table to himself this eve, though it bothered him little; there was a peace to being left to your own, relatively speaking. Such a peace, however, was broken as the screen door to the outside opened and in a flash of lightning a figure was revealed. Pyrrhus had been in the middle of about to take a spoonful of soup when it occurred; the spoon frozen in air as a tense atmosphere overtook the room. A giant of a man stood in the doorway, though with the small horns on his head it was clear he was no human. He hefted a large log over one shoulder and a big metal...bat? Some kind of blunt weapon it seemed with his other arm's hand. He said nothing as he walked in the room, rain dripping from him to the floor, as he went to a section to deposit the log. Pyrrhus finally allowed the spoon to rest back in the bowl, eyes intent on the newcomer; while he seemed to be ignoring them now, he did not seem hostile yet. But his appearance felt very much like a show; intentional or not. Whoever he was, perhaps their instructor Sinn, he was confident and strong if aged.

Everyone seemed held to the same silence as he; watching and waiting for what may occur next. Well, everyone except Narkyena who seemed to panic and begin to grab...salt shakers from the table? Pyrrhus had no idea what Narkyena was planning or why but he also did not feel like breaking the silence to speak. The giant would walk back to the screen door and close it before turning to them with a smile; seeming to finally acknowledge them for better or worse. He would welcome them as dragonlings to his humble abode, glad most of them could make it if not all. This made Pyrrhus curious; 'Who are we missing and why?' he thought curiously, assuming no one had a choice in the matter. He would ask them all to have a seat and eat, assuring them the food was good; a bit of a contrast from his earlier impression he had given to them. It made Pyrrhus wonder if he was oblivious to the atmosphere he had set or not. He would introduce himself as Sinn Myers, verifying he was the one who brought them here, and explain they were all here to be trained to be better with a custom regime. The most curious part was that they would be competing with one another and also trained to work with one another; it sounded like it would be comprehensive. While Pyrrhus was taking his time to think, mostly on what to ask, others were far more vocal and decisive. A few would speak up now. The first was Svafnir who challenged Sinn's declaration of training as he questioned whether the man was up to the challenge. A bold challenge indeed; while Penninah would speak next to thank him for the food, and knock Svafnir down to sit. Almost comical if his challenge were not so serious; as she too would voice that he had a point and she was curious. She, however, wisely did not do so as disrespectfully as Svafnir. Pyrrhus too was not silently curious, since it was brought up, of how he intended to do so. Most of them could only guess to what their perceived faults were, and his own was his aura control. No one had succeeded thus far and he doubted anyone could; so what made him certain?

The next to speak would be Pyrve; she too just as confident and bold as Svafnir was as she listed some of the things she had done at least. Mention of a tournament was an impressive feat if she had done well too. However, her questioning went a bit further too; asking why he called them dragonlings when most of them were humans. To Pyrrhus, it was a question he hadn't given much thought to as the answer had seemed obvious. Their message telling them to come had mentioned they would emerge as dragons by the end of it, and was styled so, with dragonlings being baby dragons. He wondered what made her think there was more to it; he hadn't felt too special or lucky to be called here due to failing in some capacity. Further, he knew Penninah to not be human with her scales as well; they were not all human. She even piped up shortly to verify she was not. He didn't know the others well enough to say as well; some faunus traits were well hidden. That aside, she would continue to say he hadn't answered a question of hers...in a manner that seemed to say she had asked something when she hadn't in regards to why they were here and so special. Pyrrhus face shifted to confusion a bit at that; he again wondered if she knew something he did not. He recalled she didn't even attend Beacon by choice and was under threat to by her words, so perhaps she thought she had no issues school-wise? It was all he could guess. With so much going on and being asked, Pyrrhus kept his own questions to himself; he was curious to how Sinn would respond. It would say a great deal about himself.

He would start with some fire of his own as he would say he had been worried this would be simple and Beacon's reports on them were false. He would seem to address Pyrve first, going with the reasoning Pyrrhus had thought of if being harsh in saying they were not here because they were special as Pyrve had been thinking. Then, he would address Svafnir specifically as he would challenge him to a test of strength. Pyrrhus' eyes would go between Sinn and Svafnir, having see the latter's bandages. It did not seem like an even match but...Svafnir accepted without hesitation. Svafnir would go for an impressive flying knee strike but...Sinn just stood there like a mountain being harassed by a fly. The force from the momentum, speed, and Svafnir's own power, no matter if he seemed wounded, felt as if it should have done more but only budged the man slightly. As Svafnir landed...Sinn would simply say it was his turn and uppercut Svafnir across the room! Pyrrhus had half stood, to potentially go to help Svafnir, but Rosa had gone running ahead so he just reseated himself. Sinn would advise not to underestimate your opponent, and warned how it could be fatal to one in Svafnir's condition. 'Brutal...but effective,' Pyrrhus thought grudgingly. He did not agree with the weak being wounded further but...Svafnir had brought it on himself. Sinn did not seem to be finished though as his gaze turned to the other primary challenger, Pyrve. Addressing her concerns that he would not be wasting her time, he gave her a different challenge; to bring him to his knees or the floor. It made Pyrrhus curious as to why the challenge changed...Until he thought of it more. 'A show of strength versus a show of skill?' he wondered. Sinn was doing it to show his own strength and technique perhaps to prove he was capable. He would also give her more time and advantages; her own weapon was allowed.

Before this second example could be made, Narkyena would take the spotlight in Pyrrhus' eyes as he...had drawn a salt circle around himself His questions following it were much more...fairy tale-esque, to the point Pyrrhus was not surprised that Sinn did not answer them. It made him wonder why he thought Sinn would eat their souls too, as Pyrrhus had not made the connection between salt and demons. Pyrrhus, at this stage, would rise from his own seat and move towards Alois and the others now. His appetite was on pause with all the fighting. Standing up now rather than seated, he would watch as Pyrve would accept the challenge now with similar confidence to Svafnir. Her attempts...ultimately ended similar to Svafnir. Sinn kept to his word of not attacking her, instead deflecting her first move and managing to keep balance with the second. Pyrrhus noted for later Pyrve seemed to be the acrobatic sort as well. At her final attempt of a leg sweep...he merely took it and didn't even budge. Then, similar to Svafnir, it was his turn as he told her to rise. Though, rather than have it go as swiftly as Svafnir, for a little bit he made no move at all and was just studying her. When he finally acted, it was unexpected. Rather than go for knockdown moves as she had, he went for a beatdown. Three hard punches, back to back, and potentially a violent trip to get her on her back on the ground. Pyrrhus was very much surprised but thinking on the challenge...what he had done was entirely within what he specified. 'Not as eloquently done as I had thought it would be but...more brutally effective,' he thought to himself. "He certainly is strong, and can take a hit," he would comment softly.

Sinn would then use this demonstration to answer all doubts, and declare if they didn't need training they would not be here. While Pyrrhus was still in doubt in regards to technique, he was right about results at least. During this, Pyrrhus had missed much of what was going on with Lady Penninah and the others; but he did catch her showing her scales to others earlier. A little lost on the context as his attention was on the fight, a fleeting thought to his mind was that they looked pretty. The demonstration was a bit too...suspenseful, regrettably, as he was curious on what had been going on with Penninah to say she was fine and show such. Pyrrhus would then note Sinn offer his hand to Pyrve and seem to address Narkyena's questions now. Or, some of them at least; primarily that they were not fighting to the death and he wouldn't eat his soul...along with the fact salt would not protect him. After all of that, he would seem to switch gears as he asked them to eat, talk, and relax as if none of this had occurred. It was...surreal to see him then mention rooms, early start, and sit to eat as if he hadn't just done a show of strength and injured two students potentially. With all that done...Pyrrhus would look to his team then, uncertain on how to proceed. He would also note Svafnir was up now and seemed alright at least. "How are you holding up?" he would ask Svafnir now, just to ensure he was alright. Then, more so to Alois and Lady Penninah though loud enough anyone immediately around could hear it, he would ask something else. "What do you think of our instructor for the immediate future? He is...hard to read to me, as he seems to go from brutal demonstrations to welcoming host? Regardless of the trials to come, I know we shall succeed though," he'd ask curiously, giving his own opinion even if his own wasn't well defined while also confidently stating that they would succeed. Even despite some uncertainties from what he just witnessed, he was still confident in his team. A thought did cross his mind though, that he asked after the others answered, by calling out to Sinn himself; articulating, more than actually yelling, for him to hear. "I am curious on one thing though; what were the faults reported that led to us being here, if we may know? It would help us to better ourselves if we knew where we were lacking," he would ask curiously to their instructor. While he was fairly certain his was aura, he was not completely so. He also believed the only way they could work on any perceived faults they had was to know of them so they could make efforts to address them as well.

Almost...the young alpha almost succeeded in her attempts. Unfortunately, they were not good enough and she failed her trail. As she rose, she had to stand fact to face with him. It was killing her in the inside to see him still standing. Nevertheless, she had to face the music when she hear...Time is up. Standing her ground, she waited for the first four seconds. Her heart was racing. Just what was he going to do to her. She already knew he was going to make a example/fool out of her and she was going to have to live with the humiliation. Frist came a knee to the gut. She doubled over in pain forgetting the fact she had an aura. Then he came with the right hook and left uppercut that sent her for sure stumbling to the point she fell. Thank goodness that spared her the embarrassment of being body slammed into the ground because she stayed down.

After a while, he offered her a hand up. She thought to reject it, but she just put her pride to the side and accepted it. Going over to the table her and Narky shared, she just sat quietly finishing her remaining food. She didn't talk about the pain she was in. Nor did she comment on the bruises that maybe forming. There wasn't even anything being said about her ego or pride being hurt. It was what it was. It was fair and she had to accept that. As much as it was eating away at her, she had gotten her a** beat. If Narky did speak, she'd answer him. Other than that, she was stuck in her own head.

Rosa would smile at her cousin seeing as he could stand back up “all better now, j-just doesn’t push yourself too much, for now, please…” she would say calmly before squeaking at hearing Peni’s voice “h-huh? what does that suppose to mean Sis?” she would ask feeling quite hurt, that boy? does she mean Inari? Was there anything she could do about him being on her team? It was never her choice, to begin with “w-what does he even have to do with this?” she asked as tears formed in her eyes, she would wipe them away and would walk towards the nearest room without caring what was inside of it nor did she even know to begin with. She would sit in one of the corners while pulling out her notepad ’ here to learn… well of course I need to learn more, but is there even a chance for me to get anywhere close to any of them here? why did they even let someone like me into the academy… can’t even keep my sister happy with me she would begin to cry, she would read some of the stories she wrote as tears fall on the paper, but at the moment she didn’t even notice it, was she even going to pass this training grounds?

"Well, that went about as well as I thought." he said aloud. A simple combo, but very effective. He watched as the dirty silver(?) haired girl was dispatched easily. Surprised she didn't vomit. Sinn offered her a hand and she took it. At least she isn't stubborn. His eyes followed her to the table as his attention was taken from her by his teammate. "I'd hope for, at least, that much. Otherwise there would be no point in him being an instructor." Alois replied. He gulps down the last bit of food and swallows hard. He crosses his arms and holds his bowl in his right hand as he mulls over Pyrrhus' question. "He has an air about him; that's for sure." He brings his left hand to his chin. "That display we just saw doesn't really speak much to his ability considering he just dusted two students. Speaks to his experience though. I have no high expectations, but he says he's here to help us and this was approved by the headmaster. As for the immediate future?" he shrugs as an answer. Alois eyes the man as he sits at his table. Just before he was about to excuse himself to speak with him Alois hears Peninnah get mouthy with her sister. He watches as the red-haired girls eyes water and makes herself scarce. He sets his empty bowl down on the floor for the moment. He approaches the table and makes another bowl of food with a little bit of everything before he sighs. He exists the area and follows the red head. He makes himself known by tapping on the door to the newly occupied room. "Comin' in." he says as he enters after opening the door. He slowly closes in on the girl in the corner before squatting down and placing the bowl of food in front of her.

He couldn't see her face because her head was looking at the notepad in her hands. He could smell that she was crying. "Crying is a waste of your time." he started. "Especially, if it's because of Peninnah." he followed standing up. Just kinda of getting a read of the room he said the first thing on his mind. "You're here for a reason and you made it to this 'prestigious' school because of it; not to sound like a cliche character." he said as he walked to the door. "Put on your big girl draws and pass this with the rest of us!" he said. "Oh, and as the leader of your sister's team I can honestly say that she's an a**hole, but you seem ok so far." he said referring to how caring she was for Svafnir. He left the room and joined up with everyone else. He walked past Pyrrhus while also making his final remark to him. "We are the best team here. We'll get through it with flying colors." Striding past the knight, he takes a seat across from Sinn. Alois doesn't say a word he just glares at him curiously. Nearly scrutinizing him. Alois decided to try and pick the man's brain. He felt a test of strength was unnecessary unlike two of his peers. Looking at the man he could make a safe assumption that this man wasn't a stranger to shedding blood. Far from it. "Respectfully, are you one of those fools that believes that you can get through this line of work without killing someone?" he asked with his arms crossed. Alois wanted to know where this man was. "Can you explain a bit of your past to me? Like why you got into this line of work and what exactly kept you going?" He knows that people usually lose that initial fire in their belly and find another reason to keep pushing in their career. Especially one as lonely as being a hunter could be. "Do you have a family?" he asked. He looked over to Peninnah and observed her scales.

Bringing his attention back to Sinn he asked him something that wasn't a superficial question, "What's going on with my teammate? I'm sure you have an idea. I think I may have some type of inkling, but I find it to be a bit crazy." he said lowering his voice at the last sentence. He stared into the man's soul. "Why were you, specifically, chosen to train us? All of us?"

The circle was the safest place to be, like a cocoon protecting the butterfly from the dangers of the world.... Or in this case, a dragon from the shells of danger outside. That was how Narky was seeing it as it was. He wanted to be Pyrve's shield, but this was a matter of her and Sinn testing Sinn's abilities out on regard to whether he could teach or not. He wasn't sure about what his leader was like as much as Aeralin, He only knew about Pryve's softer side when they spoke, as well as her way of fighting in combat from class. Narky had silently cheered her on regardless, knowing her to be tough as nails. "Miss Pyrve can do it!" Svaf was being taken care of, but Narky knew nothing on the man's skills to compare them to his leaders. Comparing couldn't even be done to begin with, given the results of the small fight that had occurred before him. "Why is he hitting her!?"
The thought had worried the young man a little, enough to erase his wonderments of his earlier questions spoken aloud. Even the salt circle had been ignored, once she had began to double back in pain from him kneeing her in the gut. "Stop hitting her!!!" The next set of steps, Narky had done all he could to stay calm, but watching Pyrve be hit as she was had been breaking his heart. He just couldn't take watching her be treated in such a state!!!

"Miss Pyrve!" Jolting out of the circle to her, she was already downed, with Sinn helping her up to her feet. About to reach to her, she had already gone over towards their table, with him leaving a handful of air in the process. Ignoring Sinn at first, his head went for worry for his leader, before Sinn had finally began on addressing his earlier questions. The answer on potential being a thing had him for from believing, given what he had witnessed before him with both Pyrve and Svaf. In regards to his soul and the salt circle however, his mind was surprisingly clear as he responded in turn. A sharp turn of the head from Pyrve to Sinn had finally commenced, when he had turned to look that taller man in the eye.
"It may not save me, but it can at least help negate bad energy from entering a positive zone as well. My grandmother has taught me as such. She had also taught me that my intentions, and the paths I take, are what will lead my mark down a path of destiny. My destiny tells me that unnecessary violence will only lead me astray. You can comment on my salt circles as you want sir, but I know at the end, I know the better path, and it's all towards what my grandmother has taught me. She would frown if I were to copy what I've witnessed. I only hope your teachings will provide more, and help me figure out my destiny. If not, the fairies will. I can attest with firm belief... Please tech to me there is more to this than unnecessary violence, only because you were questioned on your experience..."
Bowing his head apologetically for his brashness, he had walked away back to his and Pyrve's table, clearly disturbed by the events so far. Why, he wasn't sure he could eat another bite, much less do as he was told on getting along with the others in the room. For the most part, the others had seemed to be keen on sticking to their own team... Well, majority of them. Plus, Penninah seemed.... Too harsh, given on the fact of the girl who he had never spoken to, leaving the room, and crying their eyes out over a remark. How can anyone enjoy the food with such heavy atmosphere!?!? He wanted to sneak back outside at this point, where it was much lighter, and heck, more cheerier. Narky had no plans to leave his leaders side however, and besides, he knew how to make the best out of situations. It was a patient point he carried, and luckily, he was able to utilize it as per usual, by focusing on a more important point. "Are you alright Miss Pyrve?? Don't worry, I prayed to the pixies in my mind to lay a stink bug in his socks for hurting you. May his smelly feet unbless us." Making that thought in his mind again, his attention had adverted to the carrots. ... yummy looking carrots... He only hoped he was still allowed to eat!!! The more he had thought about it, he had practically sassed a teacher without trying to. "Oh no... Grandma would frown upon me sassing my elders..." A small scolding was in order for himself for it. For now though, Sinn was receiving no apologies, at least until he could see the rest of the dragon tourney challenges. That is... If he wasn't going to be sent home tonight for sassing. "Oh no!!!" The thought of him being sent would have been awful!!! He wanted to see dragons happen! "I'll behave... I'll behave!!!" Narky was almost drowning in those thoughts... Until a favorite food choice had crossed his line of sight. "Oh! Lettuce...." Taking a few leaves from his earlier plate of food, a few bites of the vegetable, and all thoughts of him sassing had been swept away. Gonzo!! "Have you tried the carrot Miss Pyrve!? They're very crunchy!!! I feel like a gnome carving my teeth into a stick to make a wand!! What if we grabbed some corn on the cob, if any, and see who can eat the fastest??"
Among building his own ideas for him to help Pyrve get her mind off things, there was the conversation topics striking up from the other team towards Sinn. More so sticking to listening, Pyrrhus had asked a pretty good question on the matter, regarding their faults. Did any of them really carry any faults?? He thought they were perfect in their own unique ways. There was no denying his own wonderment on the answers for that, for the sake of curiosity. As for their earlier conversational topic, he had no comments, given he had been too distressed to listen and chime in. Probably for the better, as it was hard for him to have a decent opinion on the older gentleman, without the distress building up on him hurting Pyrve and the Svaf guy he didn't have any chance to also speak to, like Rosa. Plus..... He was in the room!!!!! He could probably hear that team over there talking about him. Speaking of them, on the matter, The more grumpier dragon man from earlier was looking to be asking questions now as well. Quite a few of them in fact. Narky had a few of his own as well, but he wanted nothing more than to distance himself safely, until he could feel comfortable enough to approach. Where was more salt when he needed it???

Soon after his demonstration with Mulan, he would see some students begin to form conversations. While he had no interest to eavesdrop into any of them, it was obvious at least some were in regards to him by the looks he was receiving. 'Good. Let them gossip,' he thought to himself quietly. When he had held his hand out to Mulan, he heard the voice of Narkyena yell out her given name bit ignored it for now. There was a moments hesitation on her part, but Mulan accepted his hand silently and rose to her feet. Where he had been brutal earlier, he was gentler if firm now. His face remained fairly impassive, but held no anger or ill will to her now. As she went off to a table, past her companion who had left his circle of salt, his gaze would turn to the elder body as he spoke in response to his earlier questions. At first, it did not seem like the boy cared anymore; however, Sinn would be surprised when the boy turned his head to regard him and spoke. Where the boy had seemed hysterical and a little crazy earlier, his words were confident and passionate. 'Grandmother huh...I wonder if she yet breathes,' he thought fleetingly to himself though kept it to himself. He was intrigued by Narkyena's vow of avoiding unnecessary violence. Even if he did not agree with him fully as violence was a useful tool that many simply refrained from. An often necessary but rarely utilized tool by those of noble heart. 'Teaching him so shall be a challenge,' he noted to himself. His speech would, in Sinn's mind, falter when he got to the fairy part and seem to attempt to lecture him on the use of violence. It was comical to Sinn that this is where Narkyena got a spine, but he respected it. As the boy bowed his head and turned to leave, Sinn would speak briefly. "On the violence being unnecessary, I disagree. But I respect your philosophy; just ensure such a belief does not make you hesitate in the time for action. In this world, violence is sometimes the best choice to protect those you care for; not always, but sometimes. Keep that in mind, and let me know tomorrow of your thoughts on it," Sinn would simply say to Narkyena as he walked over to his companion. In thinking on it, his violence for Mulan likely was not ideal; a technique of making her crumple likely would have looked better to the majority of them. But he had needed to make the example clear to Mulan more so than the rest; the most vocal needed to be brought to heel before the more passive and compliant ones. It was still an interesting line to think of for the future though; it brought the most, or perhaps second most, fearful one to action after all.

With all said and done, Sinn had done as he intended to from the start; sat down and ate. His plate was filled with a mixture of meat and vegetables, carefully spiced, and he ate it with a calmness that seemed drastically different from his displays. While he could hear the idle chatter of the others in the room, and noticed one of the younger ones run out due to some issues, he remained at peace and focused on his food. Already, his mind was planning out what to alter for the students during this week. 'A mere week to break this cliques and form a cohesive bond. I should've requested more time,' he thought to himself. While only two had been foolish enough to challenge him, he knew from the records there were other hot-blooded ones in this group. They were likely waiting for their own chance to strike; or had yet to be provoked enough to do so. To add onto it, he would need to insert himself as part of, if not responsible for, them in some way. His work was definitely cut out for him, but he was not to be deterred. He waited this long and through careful planning, he reached this point. His mission would succeed, no matter how long it took. He was broken from such thoughts, having been eaten and seemingly focused on his food, by a loud question from one of the students. Turning his head, he identified who it was easily. 'The half-blood,' he noted to himself. He would ask what were their faults, as reported by the school, so they could work on them. Sinn would pause in his eating and seem to ponder a moment; should he say it aloud now or later? Taking a bite of the meat he had skewered on his fork, he would chew thoughtfully before speaking. "For those of you who desire to know, alert me when your rooms are chosen. I shall tell you before sleep for the night if you so desire," he would respond simply, in an articulate and calm tone before going back to eating. Shortly after, however, he would be joined by one of the males; Alois, he believed the name was but he was unsure. While this one was silent, Sinn noted the glare he received as he seemed to be studying him. Sinn, however, let it bother him not and focused on eating; it would be up to the other to speak if he desired too.

And speak he did, not long after seating himself. He would ask if Sinn believed he could get through this profession without killing anyone, more or less, making his own viewpoint clear on it. Pausing a moment, curious on what brought this on, Sinn would respond. "It is unavoidable; whether you are in this line of work or otherwise," he would say, tone neutral but with no doubt in it whatsoever. While he did not elaborate, he knew the nature of their kind; he had seen it firsthand after all. As the dragonling crossed his arms, he would then ask Sinn about his past; specifically, what got him into this line of work and what kept him going. Thinking to himself, Sinn did not answer immediately; instead he took a long sip of his tea as he thought before locking eyes with Alois. "In this world, it is fight to live or roll over and die. As for what keeps me going, I have a goal to complete. Until it is done, I cannot quit nor allow myself to die," he would respond vaguely to him. Making it clear he was not going to give what his goal was for free. As Alois then mentioned family, Sinn would respond. "No immediate family. I have a few nephews and distant relatives, that is all," he would answer truthfully, curious where this line of questioning was going. He would note, however, Alois' eyes went to one of the Serpico sisters, the one who revealed her scales. His next question was directly related to that, and another that he figured was on other minds as well; why was he chosen to train them. Despite the intensity of the look he received, Sinn was unfazed. Perhaps, if insightful enough, one could see slight amusement in his expression at the questioning. "I was the one who requested the task," he would say simply in response to it as he finished his meal with a final bite. "As for your friend, it seems she has latent faunus blood in her. Rare for it to have waited so long to show, but it has occurred in the past," he would offer as an answer for the Serpico's current scales. Looking to Alois seriously, he would ask him one thing before rising up. "Why did you decide to become a huntsman, and what makes you think you can keep to it if you graduate? Don't respond yet, give some time to mull it over. You'll have a chance to tell me later when you are sure," Sinn would say just loud enough for only Alois to hear before he would take his plate away. He would walk to a side room as the sound of running water could be heard; cleaning his dishes. Shortly after, Sinn would depart for a bit; giving them time to eat, talk, or just relax.

He would return within half an hour with a small hooded lamp in hand, giving them all ample time to eat if they desired. If they hadn't finished yet, it was on them in his mind. Opening a door deeper into the shrine, he would give them all a brief look; more a head-check than anything to ensure they were all present. If any weren't there, he would ask where they went and look for them later. "Follow me," he would simply say as he would lead them down dimly lit halls with floating braziers, his lantern helping give a bit more luminance between braziers. The walls around them were fairly close, allowing for only comfortable space of one person at a time; though another could always squeeze past if needed. Shadows and darkness hung in front and behind them as they travelled; evaporating when they advanced only to return behind them. For anyone being observant, it was clear the braziers would last only an hour more at the very most. After a minute or so, they would come a T-shaped intersection. Sinn would pause, and gesture down one of the hallways. For those who looked, there were three doors on the left, three on the right, and one door at the far end if they went down that hallfway. Each door seemed to have a marking on it; a set of strange lines on them. Turning to the kids, Sinn would speak as he pointed to his right. "This shall be your rooms. Girls on the right, boys on the left, and at most two per a room. My room shall be the one at the very end," he would say before gesturing behind him with one hand. "Down that way are the baths; you just need to exit the door at the end and follow the path. It splits two ways from that point; right is the girls bath, left if the boys," he would add, figuring he should let them know that now so people don't get lost later. Pointing to the wall on his left now, they would see two doors pretty clearly marked boy and girl as he didn't feel he needed to say more for that. "Pick your rooms and get some sleep. We have an early start tomorrow, and you'll need it," he would advise them; seeming to say it genuinely for their benefit more than anything else. With that said, he would step back to allow them to pick out their rooms and potential roommates. As their numbers stood for now, either some rooms would be unused or it would be a mix of shared and solo sleeping. Depending on those who asked, Sinn would tell them what they needed to work on. Once everyone had picked a room and seemed to settle, Sinn would enter his own then. Their rooms were sparse, and had a sliding door as the only thing to prevent others from entering (refer to image/description on first post of page 1).
[For anyone who wanted to decipher one of the symbols on their door, roll a d100 on gaia and Dm the result. Next mod post will be in the morning with Sinn, so this round settle down in your room (with potentially a roommate) and end the post with that in mind.]

Peninnah glowered at her sister mainly due to internal panic as Rosa seemed to go on the defense about the damned boy. "She does not understand." She thought but said no more. Peni was too upset to speak. Though only said enough to try and reassure her cousin and revealed her scales during Pyrve's "fight", so she had thought most would be focused on that. The rest of the time, she'd carefully watch the fight, unsure of Svaf's true reaction as she seemed to want a distraction when Ro walked away in upset. Refusing to go after her little sister, she was secretly relieved when her team leader went instead.

All the while, her body quietly trembled as the usually loud and fierce young woman ate. Anyone that knew her well, would know that she was a lot more dangerous when she was silent. Quietly eating, listening to other conversations around them, if Svafnir tried to speak to her, she didn't seem to listen.
"There's too much heat...I need to calm myself." She thought, trying to do so. Looking to Pyrrhus when he commented aloud after the decent attempts from the girl earlier, she would frown slightly. "He is strong and confident, but disciplined, possibly a good teacher...as for learning what we lack, I cannot disagree," was the last comment Peninnah made before going back to her food. Crimson eyes watched Alois upon his return but did not hear his words, only Sinn's reply that confirmed what she suspected then tuned out again, her body still quivering.

After their meal and interactions, she was feeling pretty tired, but unable (or unwilling, rather) to talk with her sister. Unable to release the frustrations through physical interaction, it was better they gave each other space for now. So, when it came time to follow the professor to another part of the building, she would follow after taking care of their table's dishes. They would end up walking to a T-shaped hall; they would be separated by gender it appeared.
"Interesting," Peninnah commented under her breath once she chose a room three doors away from the end without really seeing; her focus was on the marking as she reached up and traced it; Marking: [. "What does it mean..." She wondered before her eyes widened in something of surprise as the number six popped into her mind. Keeping it to herself, she would then go inside.

Sváfnir Nuntis
Son of Agmundr & Eydís

Those who bare the mark of the Dragon....

Sváfnir agreed with much of what was being passed around through conversation but did not speak on any of it aloud. He could not agree with the white haired male (Narky) but respected his resolve if that was the way he chose to live, leaning more towards the older male that sent him flying not to long ago.
Sváfnir got a sense of familiarity from the way the older male spoke but found it hard to understand way and waved it from his mind. Looking over to Peninnah, after Rosa had taken her leave, the Warrior knew all to well what that meant and gave her some space though keeping an eye on her till it was time to get up and leave and claim rooms. Sváfnir followed along listening to instruction and once briefed he would go to choose a room.

The Warrior sat in silence and revisited both the wound given Sinn and his wounded pride with a run of his bandaged hands before sighing and tending them once again. A mix of frustration and worry surfaced as he thought back to what he was shown by Peninnah and began to wonder if it was some kind of contagious sickness before bringing both hands to meet his face hard. All this thinking and worrying is useless...Mother and Father would be shocked to see how much I have been thinking lately. Sváfnir said aloud to no one followed by a chuckle before he would take to his feet. Early day tomorrow leaves me little time to prepare to pay back the Old Man. He will definitely feel it next time. Sváfnir added with a devious smile as he began visualization training against a fictitious Sinn late into the night not taking into account the noise he made during his training.
