Shesha - Post 4 Shesha shifted himself so that he was leaning part of his weight against the magical staff that he was carrying. It was quite the situation, wasn't it? People disappearing within the boundaries of Oba and Matori, of course people would instantly look to those who were notorious for doing such things in the past. Besian was quick to reassure the crowd though, obviously not wanting a riot on his hands. A mess that he definitely didn't want to get caught up in... especially when he saw the manner in which the army stood at attention to make sure that everyone knew they were around. There was mention of those same armies of Oban doing some patrols in an attempt to find what sounded like a group that they couldn't track. It was something that had him giving a little whistle, "Well now, isn't that interesting." He murmured. So they were going to send their armies into Matori? That was going to be interesting. He doubted very highly that a lot of those of Matori were going to be pleased even if there was the excuse of people being kidnapped. Would they see it as a threatening action? Would their elders try to keep their people calm? Would that even work out? Would there be a risk of battles between the two sides because of what could be seen as an invasion by some? "I think it's a terrible idea to send the army into Matori... but I'd like for my fears to be proven wrong." He muttered, tapping a finger against his painted lips, not looking Aqio's way but asked him, "Don't you have an older brother that is in Matori at the moment?" It made him so very curious what that brother might do if he saw the army going... but he knew nothing of the older brother save for the fact that he existed.

 Post 3 Talking about how things were going in Jauhar seemed trivial next to what the Oban had just announce. Aylin gulped as a tingle of fear raced down her back, “Oh no… please don’t let this be the start of some new, horrible war…”
Her brows knit in worry, she turned to the Oban woman who seemed familiar with the Alkidike at the mention of kidnapping for the purposes of experimentation. “What sort of experiments are the Belrean’s doing- I haven’t heard of anything foul since that ship crashed at the grand market?”

Ai'ian Post 5 For the first time in a long time, he wanted to be back in Zena, the place he knew, the land he trusted. Matori was a paradise but he didn't much like the fact that there would be an army marching around, even if they were for protection, he had heard of a lot of battles in the past and somehow hybrids always got the short end of the stick, now he had his wife were here alone. "Have you sent word to your father about this yet Myr? Is it happening there too?"

Chapter 9: Grave Expectations
|| IC ||
The announcement of the increase in the army's presence didn't seem to be received well. Almost instantly there was an upheaval of disapproval, some from the Obans, but most noticeably from the Matori earthlings. There were shouts from some of the older Matori, 'It's just an excuse to put Oba back in charge again!' and 'They'll bring back slavery.' among other more insulting comments. Some of the more conservative onlookers just seemed to purse their lips, shaking their heads and waiting for more news.
A group of earthlings, mostly Oban but some outsiders seemed to have other ideas. "Everyone knows that those extremists have been traveling around more lately. They have those weird... whatever they are from that other tree. Who's to say they're not doing this?" One of the Obans spoke up. A matori further away from the group nodded, affirming what the Oban was saying. "I saw them with my own eyes at the Great Market. They brought the Elaria with them."
Besian shook his head, his hands raised, trying to placate the crowd. "We need everyone to remain calm." Naria, the matori representative from the war spoke up, her small stature masking her large voice. "These accusation and rumors will help no one." She nodded her head to the army behind her and gave a signal for her own water earthling entourage to join the group, falling into group with them.
There was a small cry of 'cover up' that came from the crowd, but the majority of the group had quieted their gossiping. "We are here to protect the people together." The guards had moved forward, just enough to become a larger focus of attention during Naria's short speech.

Yitzah Post: 4 Location: In the crowd – near-ish to Aaricia, and Nasuri. Near Aylin --------------------The Belreans? The yellow and brownish earthlings from that other place? Yitzah frowned. She'd seen a few wandering around the bigger villages, with strange clothes and weapons, but she wasn't sure. She was also not sure about the whole army patrol thing. She knew what Matorians felt about the Oban Army, the suspicion and betrayal they felt. She knew she probably didn't understand where all of it was coming from, but Yi figured she got enough. Obans were pretty shifty. And suspicious. And haughty. She glanced at one of her companions... well, a lot of Obans, anyway. She moved closer to the shifter, nervousness seeking comfort in nervousness. "... hope not." she muttered. "Really hope not." Wars were bad. They ate families, chewed them up and spat them out. She remembered that much. And things were getting more energetic, sending electric shivers down her sinews. Slavery... Extremists... The black market...
People being taken..."Hey." she said, "I've got your backs. Lets... uh... stick together, right?" She did not like how the crowd was shifting and moving around them, and right now the Shifter and the Oban girl (Nasuri, she reminded herself) were familiar things. Familiar things needed to be kept in sight... Otherwise they would vanish and be swept away, never to be seen again...

 Post 4 She realized the guards moving forward were meant to be reassuring- but it felt more threatening given the current mood of the crowd. Aylin grew nervous with the shouts from the crowd, every hair on her body was standing on end- she shouldn’t be here, this was not her place, or her people. She missed her home and her mentor Biroki, it seemed ages since she last saw him. She knew he was more than capable of defending himself, but what of all the other villagers in Ast?
Aylin nodded grimly at Yitzah, when times became unpredictable you needed people you could rely on. And though they had just met, she certainly didn’t want to navigate this crowd in a foreign land alone. “And I have yours.”

Aqio - Post 4 Shesha got a nod of agreement. The Matorian male sticking close to his side. Was this the work of a guild trying to start another war. That would just suck. With a glance to Shesha, Aqio decided to...no matter what...protect his Mage. "My parents are nearby." he informed him as he saw his Mom pass by a solider. His Dad not too far behind. Colii slithered slowly up to coil around to link their arms together. Aqio gave the beast an odd look.

Chapter 9: Grave Expectations
|| IC ||
The guards seemed to pull back at a wave of Besian's hand, and he nodded at Naria with a small smile, "We are here to work together, to protect both our lands from what is happening. There is no need to cause rumors, or turn against one another. Our past is behind us, and we are not going to fall back into those times. We, both our great nations, are better than that."
They were allies, dedicated to improving their world together. Sure, they had considered the threads many people were concerned about, but they had no evidence. There was no point in chasing that lead if there was no proof.
Suddenly, a scream was heard far in the back, where a group of Matori were sitting. A few scattered as one stood still, eyes glazed over as she began to tilt. She fell back, into the grasp of a figure in black that seemed to step out of thin air. Clicking, hissing, and buzzing sounded, and the crowd pushed back away from the disgusting sight. It was hideous, dark skin and bug like eyes.
"It's one of those creatures, from the tree in the south..." One person cried out, well aware of the unfounded rumors but not having an answer for what was before him.
The soldiers pushed through the crowd, demanding room as they fought to get closer and apprehend the creature that had grabbed the girl. Slowly, it seemed to click and hiss as it dragged the girl back to the split in the air where it came from.

Shesha - Post 5 Shesha gave Aqio a momentary glance before his eyes went back to Besian once more. They were here to protect both lands, to be friendly, etc. He supposed it was something the big man had to say because things were pretty tense. They had to prove that the Obans weren't the ones behind the disappearances to keep the tenuous relationships that had been built over time from crumbling. He might even be able to do so... at least that was what he thought before things seemed to go from a relative calm to a mess in a snap. Turning slowly he found himself starring at a strange, bug like humanoid. Nothing like the Alkidike that he'd heard of and dealt with in the past, but something more monstrous and unappealing to all of his senses. The sage shook off the serpent that was clinging to him so he could take hold of his magical staff in both hands and started to gather magic into in. He would prepare a spell just in case one of those... things dared to get close to him with their disgusting hands and obnoxious chittering. "Aqio." So rarely did he use his name, "I no longer need a dancer at my side, I need the other you." He needed something more dangerous, just in case this became a true battle against those monsters.

Saraf - Post 5 Saraf's body was that of a soldier and it moved in an instinctive manner as he heard cries from the crowd and saw other soldiers on the move. One hand went to the great sword on his back, drawing it from its sheath, and he held it at the ready at his side. His other arm wrapped around Arima and drew the woman so that she was standing behind him, "Hold onto me so that I know exactly where you are." He said, shifting his hands so both of them were on his weapon. He only saw one of the creatures before him at the moment but that didn't meant that more of them were skulking about through the crowd. He set to scanning the area, looking for both signs of other bug men, as well as signs of how the other soldiers were moving, and where the members of the Outcast Unit might be at the moment. Here was to hoping that they would rejoin him now that the meeting with with the elders had turned sour. Without looking at Arima he asked, "I know you are a healer but do you have any attack magic? If so you might want to prepare some, just in case that thing gets closer to us." He hated to ask a healer to do harm but it might be necessary given what they were facing off again.

Yitzah Post: 5 Location: In the crowd – near-ish to Aaricia, and Nasuri. Near Aylin ATTACKING THE DRETCH -------------------- Someone had her back? That was great. She'd do her best to help 'em. And maybe they'd help her in exchange, they'd find her friend, they'd stop the madness. She'd be a hunter. With... friends. That was something she'd never thought of before, never even once considered. She'd thought she would always be alone, and that was how things were meant to be. But maybe there was room for more. Yitzah had plans for her life. Ill-formed, vague plans, but plans none the less. Things she needed to do before she returned to her jungle home. Skills she needed to gain. But then, in a single moment, every plan was wiped away, every hope was wiped away, and she was a child again trapped in her nightmare. Clicking... hissing... buzzing... Burning... death... screaming... She turned in slow motion, the time between Jauhar and now seeming to shed away as she saw... it. A bug monster. Her hated, sworn enemy. Her bow was out, an arrow nocked and loosed at the monster before she even realized she was doing it. She didn't even realize she was shouting. She didn't hear the crowd. She didn't register that she was in Oba, or that a Matori woman was in it's insectoid arms, or the guardsmen around her. Her nightmare was before her and she had to kill it. "DIE, MONSTER!"
"DIE!"She fired another arrow and ran forward. "DIE"
"DIIIIIIIE!"suhuba Okay how many innocent people did she just attack while trying to shoot a bug

Mash'al became distracted by Besian's bellow and lost his trail of thought as he listened in to what the Oban man had to say. As both leaders commented about missing earthlings, up and vanishing without any reason, and the king's increased patrols he rolled his eyes, 'Sure, increase patrols so it seems like you're concerned.' He crossed his arms and stared up at the stage with skepticism, 'People go missing, leave it for their families to work out. They can hire mercenaries to track down the poor sods that probably don't want to be found. Jonal knows there are plenty of capable earthlings out there looking for work.'
Then there was the idea of the extremists being involved... That was an idea that gave him goosebumps. Turns out there were things worse than those wretched bug people from Chibale and they came with pink hair. Clutching tighter to his arms he tensed at the thought of those dark skinned creeps worming their way throughout the nations and stealing people... To what end? They were beaten back into some dark hole on that island he never wanted to visit. He would assume they learned their lesson, but as he began to run out of opinions on the talks a shriek brought him back to the present.
"Princess..?" He murmured while swiveling on his heels. 'She was just-' Mash'al scanned the crowd and hadn't seen her in the immediate area, 'Nerad's mercy...' He hissed while grasping tightly to his, 'I swear if you are-' He began while barging through the stunned crowd to find Naevius huddled by some fire hybrid, "You need to get behind a wall of guards or get back to the palace!" he snarled while grasping her wrist, "I don't know what's coming, but it can't be good."
Nilah44 ;P sorry for vanishing... trying to worm back in~

 Post 5 - Ready to battle the bug!
Aylin breathed a small sigh of relief as the guards took a step back and the representatives of Oba and matori confirmed their alliance, only for her breath to catch at the scream behind them. She shouted into the crowd, “That’s no Elaria!” at the remark of it being from the tree to the south- she had been to the grand market and seen the Elaria there herself. No this was far worse… a reminder of Juahar and the stories parents would tell to warn children of the dangers that lurked beneath the tall trees.
She was frozen for the barest of moments, shock registering as the Alkidike loosened an arrow towards the foul creature, and remembered the reassuring weight of the staff grasped within her hands. She tried to fill her words with confidence and command as she shouted to those between them and the hostage, “Get down!” She reached within herself to touch the well of magic there, assessing the situation to determine which elements she need call on to aid them in battle or heal someone should they be injured..

”Hmm, yes. It would seem we all do.” A much as Naevius hated being kept out of the loop she understood it was necessary to protect the greater good sometimes. She sighed as she eyed the hybrid woman once more. Something didn't seem quite right with her but Nae let it be. Everyone had their own skeletons, no need to go poking through the shadows, at this point in time anyway. As more information was given by Besian and Naria, she felt herself giving some less than noble looks to some who were trying to accuse the obans and oban government of foul play. Her father would never allow that. When the scream pierced the air, Nae's head whipped around to the source. A matori woman being drug away by some...creature. ”No!!” She shouted as she began to move towards where the guards were already converging. However, a hand on her wrist, which she instinctively tried to free, caused her to pause and instead she found herself draw a bit closer to the man. Nae knew Mash'al was probably right but could she really just leave all these people? ”I can't just leave everyone. What was that Mash'al? Have you seen anything like it in your travels?” Where could they have come from and why did they take that girl? She tried to remember all the sounds she heard in the air and the look of the creature. Naevius tried to commit every little thing to memory, it was important, she knew it.
