Aldren
Post: 3

        This was apparently quite a serious task for the young Wind woman. Aldren's lips tugged into a grin as he watched Zumei's preparations for this brand of children's festival entertainment. All-or-nothing, give everything you have to a task, regardless of what it is. It was admirable, in it's own way.

        Although- "Ah, me? I don't- Er..." He glanced to the children scurrying around him and felt immediately out of place. He didn't mind festivals, and of course, always thought he might enjoy games. Though he actually had experience with very few, and there surely wasn't a need to show off just how poorly he might do at them. Not around a bunch of children, anyway. Carding his fingers through the back of his horsetail, Aldren gave a shake of his head. "I'd better not. You'll do well enough for the both of us, I imagine."

Sol - Post Four

They hadn't...tried it? After passing a quick look up to his Papa, whose eyes promised a stern 'talk' later, Sol looked back to the icelings. "Papa has a Kinfa, but Baba has a Raptrix, same as me." While his voice was still on the quiet side, the boy was starting to open up. After all, why wouldn't he, when they were talking about something he loved? Even if he was told specifically not to do it, Sol always found a way.

He did want to ride Polaris...Reaching back for Callum's hand, Sol turned his head up to his papa's.How could the man resist such a cute face? Sol even pulled out all the stops; the little pout, a monopolization of his large eyes, a little twitch of his antennae...

Needless to say it didn't take long for Callum to agree and in an instant Sol was as close to Polaris as he could possibly get. "Do you just..climb on or...?"

Callum - Post Four

With a light hearted laugh, Callum brushed it off. "It's alright; really. She's just curious, and I'm an odd sort of man." If he became offended every time a child, or an adult for that matter, commented on his scars then Callum would be an eternally irritated man.

Still, it didn't seem as if the little ice girl was done with her observations. In so many ways she reminded him of his Ygraine; the little huff, her crossed arms...if only she were a little paler then they could have been twins. "Actually, I'm an only child." So far as he knew, anyway. Callum supposed it was possible for his parents to have others out there, but he didn't know about them. He had friends that were as close as siblings to him, but they wouldn't have been with him during the 'incident'. "I'm not as lucky as your brother to have such a brave sister like you."

Though, he suspected that if either Ming'we or Talisia had been there his mother wouldn't have walked away quite as unscathed...

Turning his attention to the people around him, Callum noticed the shift in bodies going towards the Frozen Lake. "Maybe, that is, if you don't mind, they could ride Polaris up to the lake? The sun is about to set and the bonfire should be roaring by now." They would need to make their way up soon enough anyway; so why not spare Sol's little legs the walk if he could? And besides, a ride with friends sounded like fun.

Iriyana Post 5

Something in the way Sol said Baba brought her attention to him rather sharply. Hadn't she heard that term used before? Squinting her eyes at him a little she tried to find something that would give her some type of clue. Sadly her thoughts were interrupted when her brother asked if she wanted a ride.

Iriyana looked up at Hulis but shook her head as she smiled. "Nah, you and Sol go ahead. I want to walk and look for Li." In their, or rather her mother and brother's, excitement it seemed that their search for their best friend had been forgotten.

When she heard the adults speaking once again she lifted her yellow gaze to Callum to acknowledge that she heard his words. Hearing that he was an only child made her frown at him slightly but she nodded her head in understanding. "I'm sorry." Not having a sibling must really suck. She'd have to ask Li about it when she found him.

Huyana Post 5

With the help from Eirlys he noticed that their daughter seemed to become a little less rude. Huyana was grateful for that. Lifting one hand he sighed and ran it through his hair. He really needed to find a way to bond better with her before the rift between them grew even more. When he noticed that people were moving toward the main area he glanced around to see if he could spot any familiar face in the crowd. His family. Eiri's family. Or Eira and her troupe. Then Callum asked if the children could ride Polaris rather than walk.

The tall Ice male brought his eyes back to their company. Huy would have answered the question but since he was no tamer he left that up to his woman. However, his eyes went toward the children and he seemed worried. Not because the beast was dangerous but because he wasn't sure if the three of them could behave. His worries were short lived when he noticed his daughter declined the idea to ride. So he took that opportunity to step closer to her and offer his hand. "My little snow puff, would you walk with your dad?" While he wasn't so sure she would accept he was more than delighted when her little hand took his.

Hargitt - Post Three

Hargitt wasn't entirely surprised to see a very vivacious female making her way towards the hoard that had followed him. Even as they dispersed away from the men, they seemed to shrink further from her. He had to wonder if it was because they were staunchly heterosexual (surely all of them couldn't be?) or if it was the fact that the woman in question was an alkidike.

His crystalline gaze widened, mouth opening slightly to gape at the sheer size of the woman coming closer to them. He had never seen an alkidike in his entire life, so what Hargitt knew of them had come to him entirely through stories alone. In all honesty, seeing anyone who was taller than him intimidated the man, but this one...

The subtle crimp against his arm was lost to Hargitt, but Jakkoa's half step behind him was not. He didn't turn his gaze away from the antennaed stranger, although he did reach behind him to offer his hand to Jak. Whatever his smaller companion had against their kind it was obvious that this one meant no harm to them, and Hargitt had no wish to start a public incident.

Or maybe he just wanted to comfort Jak.

Or maybe both.

Furrowing his brow, he turned those eyes to the smaller hybrid. Sulk? He didn't sulk and he most certainly didn't have animal friends. It was one thing to choose isolation, though to have it forced upon you...Hargitt shook his head, and tugged Jakkoa along with him after the alkidike.

When he finally caught up to her by the wood pile, the larger earthling male cleared his throat. "Try the bonfire. The single women will be dancing there. You may have better luck." His voice was just as stern and surly as the rest of him, but Hargitt was making an attempt at being friendly.

"We can show you the way."

Eirlys- Post 5

The ice female blinked in slight shock. Only children to her were raised lacking companionship. "I'm sure your friends more than make up for the lack of siblings. I have ten younger siblings myself." she smiled. "Their all orphans my mother's have taken in, but...we're still a close family unit."

She looked to her daughter and beloved. "Riya, you be good for your father. Huy. If you need a guide remember that whistle I taught you? It'll summon Bori..." Bori was a Radaku that Eiri had trained specifically to respond to Huyana. In case the male found himself in a tough spot. She then smiled down at the two boys. "Its easy, Sol...Uli will show you..."

Hulis- Post 5

The child looked excited. "Here!" he tapped Polaris' side. The Janarim tilted its head to allow the child to grip his horn to give the child leverage. Once settled Uli scooted back, easily sliding along the beast's back plates. "Grab his horn, plant your foot on the shoulder plate and haul yourself up."

The child looked to his sister. He blinked eyes wide...he was so caught up in meeting a new person that he forgot Li! "Riya. If you see Li, let him know we're riding Polaris. He'd find us quick!" Uli then turned his attention back to Sol. Making sure that if the child tried to get on he was doing so with little trouble.

Jakkoa | 4

The hand was a surprise.

In retrospect, Jakkoa couldn't have said why it was a surprise. After all, Hargitt's actual bargained-for purpose here was to serve as a guard of sorts, as much as a guide - moreso, even, than a guide, since Jak was making as many directional decisions as anything. But the comfort was pleasant, nonetheless, and welcome, and-

What was less welcome was the larger man's obscure, irrational, unnecessary follow-up choice to pursue the massive woman in question.

Jakkoa stiffened, rigid and grossly unamused by this turn of circumstance, but short of voicing his complaints aloud - which seemed somehow improper and at least as unnecessary in this instance - he didn't see much option to at least temporarily follow along. It wasn't without an under-the-breath hiss of, "What do you think you are doing, we needn't-"

But that, of course, went completely ignored, and a moment later, they were back in the presence of the towering...woman...being, as it were. Jak held a terse breath trapped behind grit teeth and avoided eye contact. Perhaps if he looked anywhere but there, the woman would eventually go her own way.

He made mental note to explicitly question Hargitt's choices when it came to the very few people he apparently was willing to openly engage with. Not attractive giggling village girls.

But this.

Coeld

The warm air was happily soaked up by the people of Zena and Sauti but as the time drew on, the sun started to dip lower in the sky, the chilly air returning. It was time for the bonfire!

The younglings were so excited! It was the only time of the year they would see a fire that large, and the men who had gathered the wood did a fantastic job. The heaps of tinder were ready to light, and as everyone took their positions, they readied their little matches and all at once they threw the matches into the wood pile and the flames shot high with the help of magic.

The crowd clapped in enthusiasm and as the excitement leveled out, the parents and elders began to tell the tale of the Daught of Ault, and the Bringer of Fire.

[ The next NPC post will be a wrap-up post at the end of the festival. ]

Huyana Post 6

Hearing Eirlys give their daughter the warning made him look at the Ice woman and wink at her. Huyana loved how she always seemed to be helpful. He mouthed a thank you to her then looked down at his little girl with a smile. "Shall we lead the way?" He and his daughter would walk in front of Polaris so the Janarim had someone to follow.

Huyana knew that Eiri would want to walk beside the beast so that she could also have some control if anything went bad. And of course their son would ride along with his new friend. Callum would likely also walk along side the creature to keep an eye on his son.

Once they reached the spot he would lean down to pick Iriyana up and hoist her up onto his shoulders. From there she could not only see the fire but also look for her friend. Huyana gave his attention to the elders as they began to tell the story. He knew it already but not well enough to recite to his own children. At least, not yet.

Iriyana Post 6

As her brother told her to let Li know that he was on Polaris she nodded her head at him. Of course she would tell their best friend where he was. Riya didn't monopolize his time the way Uli did. With a small giggle she turned away, only to have her mother tell her to behave. "I will Moma." Acting up at the festival would definitely get her grounded so she was highly unlikely to do anything bad.

When her father walked she followed along beside him, looking back to check and make sure the others were behind them only a few times. Then she was up on her dad's shoulders and a grin lit her face. Iriyana might not get along with her dad all the time, since she had a strange outlook on his path, but she liked him when he did fun things with them. Like now! Her eyes danced between the fire as it was lit and burned and the crowd so she could look for Li. Not that she found him, or Gyuri.

As the story of the fire bringer was being told she leaned forward and rested her chin on her daddy's head so she could listen.

Kaalnia (Post 4)
~~~~~~~~~~
Kaalnia flexed her muscles as the last of the wood was stacked, giving one of her fellow wood carriers a friendly slap on the back. "Wooohoo! We did it!" she said. She got a few smiles in return - they'd had the whole day to get used to the massive woman helping them, and she was very capable.
She accepted her match and tossed it into the bonfire. "WHOOP!" she cheered, as the flames rose to a roaring height. She hopped from foot to foot, brimming with energy. "Who's up for dancing? Eh? Eh?" because what was better to do at a campfire than dance the night away, lit by the blazing flames?
Eirlys- Post 6
She was pretty proud of her children right now. As they made their way to the bonefires she kept a good pace next to the Janarim. She saw Youl, smiling softly as her Mothers and many younger siblings came into view. She waved and knew that once Callum and his son had gone on their way, most likely her younger siblings would bombard their niece and nephew for playtime. She smiled as Polaris eased himself to lay on his belly. "If you want Sol, Polaris is used to Riya climbing on his head...you can sit there if your Papa is ok with it." she looked to Callum. "You can stand to keep him balanced if you'd like. Polaris is well trained to respond to children."
She kept half attention on the story as the other half focused on her son and his new friend.
Hulis- Post 6
The child was excited. The festival had been a blast so far. He made a new friend and met a interesting adult. Hybrids were new to the small ice male, but he already had a lot of admiration for them. He knew from what his Momma said that her younger siblings were mostly hybrids, but had never met them until today...or so his Momma hoped. He was excited.
