A broad grin spread across Marietta's features. "See guys!" She called out, slapping Amarisa on the back as she looked at the group. "I told ya she'd be a good addition to the game!" The girl's instinct was never wrong, and something told her this kid was going to make the game so much better. "So, it's all settled," Marietta continued once the other kids had joined them. "Ama and I are gonna be the Charge and the Keeper. We're playing for coins and candy today so show whatcha got." Each of the six dug deep into their pockets. Sim and Tim drew out two pieces of candy each plus a handful of coins. Reese produced a measly two coins and one piece of candy while Dolorez had equal handfuls of both. Garo managed to scrape out four coins and three pieces of candy after a moment. Meanwhile, Marietta produced several candies and a small pouch of coins which jingled as she tugged it out from under her hoodie. With the coin pouch open, she held it out to each kid in turn, waiting till they deposited their share into it before moving to the next one. Amarisa would be the last reached. Once hers was done, the dark-haired girl would seal up the pouch and tuck it away inside the secret pocket once again. Its contents considerably heavier, she took extra care to place it so it wouldn't clank and give their position away during the game.

Their prize now secured, Marietta looked back at the group of young teenagers encircling her. "Everyone knows the name of the game. Any one of you guys tags us and the game's over." There were nods of acknowledgement from all of them. "Right. So, where should home base be this time? Any suggestions?" A volley of suggestions flew through the air at this. Places ranged from the noodle shop down the street to the island in the middle of the bay. Some were easier than others but, ultimately, it was Garo who suggested the winning area. "The marina's a good one, Garo!" Marietta beamed cheerfully. "And, for some extra fun let's say it's a specific boat. Hmmm...Oh!" She snapped her fingers. "The Lady Calypso- that's the one we'll use. I know the owners and they don't mind us using the boat for a game." At the murmured consent, the girl clasped her hands together and nodded. A look of excitement and competition filtered onto her face. "Let's get started. Once everyone's set, give a shout then Sim'll do the starting whistle. Have at it guys!" Everyone scrambled off at that, spreading out to find the perfect starting location for the game. Marietta smiled at Amarisa, "Don't worry. We've got this. I'm really good at this game. Haven't been caught yet! And I don't intend to start now. Ready?" The second she got the affirmative, she would grasp the blue-haired girl by the hand and dash off in the opposite direction from the others. First thing was first, they had to make sure their path started in a well-hidden area.

The man smiled and looked sideways at Katashi. "You think I'm dumb enough to appeal to anyone's sympathetic nature? I realize how shady I am. No... I'm appealing to your financial needs, if you have any." When Katashi went on his tirade about strength the wiry man actually backed away a couple of steps, but still followed with him. As the black haired young man stopped, so did the wiry man. He sighed as Katashi threatened him, and looked around with an extremely paranoid look in his eyes. "FFfiiiiiinnnneeee... I was hoping I wouldn't have to use this..." He reached very slowly into his coat and pulled out a manila envelope, holding it up in plain sight. "I know you hate that Damien guy in your guild. I have some dirt on him that might interest you... perhaps this could be your payment?" His eyes looked defeated and even more tired, almost broken. "I was really hoping I would be able to sell this info to you after you did the job for me... but a desperate man has to make desperate moves."

Katashi narrowed his eyes darkly at the man. Despite his warnings, despite his threats, the man persisted in his endeavor to recruit the Illusion mage. “Are you so certain this man is only angry with you for your dealings? Because I could not fault him for being so with other reasons.” He gave the man a very pointed look as he said the last. His feelings on the matter should be made perfectly clear. Yet, the other was not finished in the least. The man claimed he would not be so foolish as to appeal to the sympathetic nature of one such as Katashi. Though you are still foolish enough to not heed my warnings, the dark-haired male admonished silently, letting out a noisy breath through his noise to indicate his displeasure. Instead of sympathy, it seemed, the shady individual chose to appeal to the ideal of financial gain. The Illusion mage’s brows rose at this notion. His crimson orbs studied his unwanted guest carefully as he produced a manila envelope. It was an envelope which appeared to contain information on Damien. What information that might be, Katashi had no way of knowing in that moment. He would simply need to find out. “While it is no secret amongst my guild that Damien is troublesome to me, I have no need of causing trouble for him. For that in turn would cause issues for me…which I would prefer not to deal with. And, as it so happens,” he raised his arm to brush a stray strand of hair from his cheek. “I already know many things about my guildmates. Much of which would make even the most hardened criminal flinch. What is to say I do no already possess the knowledge contained in that envelope?” The dark mage would stand quietly in place to await the response of the other. Perhaps, if by some twist of fate, the man had information on Damien that Katashi did not then he might be persuaded to provide some measure of aid to him. Some but not a lot.

Amarisa jumped a bit at the sudden slap to the back, though she was nothing more than happy to hear that Marietta was glad to bring her into the group and the fun. She watched as the others showed there hands, revealing whatever candy or coins they had available to pay up in the game should they need to. She reached for her own, using her magic to blow into her palms and create some coins into her hand. As for the candy, she pulled out two pieces. She gave it to Marietta as she took everyone's share. Amarisa listened happily as the game was being decided to the best of locations for the home base. She was not the most familiar with where everything was and what was available, so she watched the others choosing. Many places were said, but the one that was chosen was a ship. She was kind of expecting a shop or a different park or something, but this was even cooler! She had never seen a ship up close, and it was so nice that the owners let them use it!

"Woww, a boat! Cool!!" Amarisa spoke excitedly, eyes glimmering with excitement. She watched as the other kids began running off to find a spot to start the game, facing towards Marietta and her admitting to never losing a single game. That was kind of refreshing to know, but she certainly would hate to be the reason to break the winning streak against her. All that she could do now was to try her very best. "I'm glad to be on a professionals team! I'll try my best with ya!" She said, excitement building as she waited to start the fun. "I'm ready!" She said, placing a thumb up in approval. As soon as the game started, she rushed off with the girl as Marietta's hand grabbed her own, running away from the other kids. She made sure to keep up with the girl wherever she ran too, most likely she was best at picking good locations to hide in, so all she did was follow for now. There was a rush of fun running though, she was smiling and having fun already! But she kept hushed for now, didn't want the other team hearing where they went!

The man smiled and held the envelope close to his chest. "Well... I'm not normally so insistent. I run a 'the customers who need me find me' sort of business. And this guy is a notoriously idiotic bruiser. Doesn't like not getting his way, you know?" He smiled a bit and listened to Katashi, his explanation of not needing to cause Damien problems just making the man smile wider. "Well, whoever said anything about purposefully causing problems? This could be something to help you buy him off your back for good. Maybe... help him capture and keep that little blonde bird he's so obsessed with for good?" His smile shifted to a cheeky grin and he waved the envelope quickly back and forth, well out of Katashi's reach. "I mean... what better way to get him to leave you alone without causing you or him any troubles than to hand him the thing he wants the most in all the world? And even then, you could feed him bits of info here and there to cow him when he gets uppity... but there is no guarantee that you don't know what I have. Only chance. Buuuuuut... I do know that he's on his way out of the country soon..."

Marietta moved around the group, gathering everyone’s share into the pot. Some had more than others to give. Nothing unusual there. The size of the prize pot varied from game to game, with most of the gang’s shares depending on how much they’d made before then. This time it seemed as if Reese had the worse go of it. The dark-haired girl made a note to see what she could do about that for the next game. In the meantime, she would focus on getting the remainder of the prize gathered. Truth be told, Marietta hadn’t known what to expect when she stepped in front of Amarissa to collect her portion. Perhaps a candy or two and maybe some coins. She certainly hadn’t expected what transpired. Her eyes widened in surprise as the blue-haired girl produced coins just by blowing them into her palms. She actually blew them into existence! The shock of the sight caused the girl to stop dead in her tracks, watching in awed silence as the coins slipped into the pouch. Marietta gathered herself quickly, however, having enough control over her senses to act as if nothing was amiss. “Alright, time to get started!” She declared cheerfully, grabbing Amarissa’s hand and darting away from the others.

It took them a few moments for the teenager to find the perfect starting spot. The others had already settled into their positions as well. Their calls of “Ready!” echoed one after the other. Sim should be blowing the start whistle any second now, Marietta counted the seconds, pulling her Charge into a sheltered alley near the marketplace. Sure enough, no sooner had they squatted behind a pile of boxes then Sim gave the signal to begin. “We won’t be able to stay here long,” Marietta explained swiftly, keeping her attention on their surroundings. They wouldn’t want to stay in any one place for an extended period of time. “I’ve never been beat, but that doesn’t mean the guys slack off either. So I’ll make this as quick as I can. The harbor’s about a mile away from here. They’ll be expecting us to stick to the alleys and sheltered areas, which means they’ll target there first. We’re gonna use that time to get on the roofs. What a lot of people don’t realize is that getting the high ground is key. We’ll be able to see everything they’re doing from up there. What’s more, I did some scouting around here earlier today. All the buildings around the marketplace are close together. We’ll be able to jump from one to the other easy. AND they lead straight to the marina. We’ll have pretty clear sailing for the most part I think. Probably will get a little more difficult when we get to the marina though. That’s when we’ll have to do more sneaking. What do ya say? Sound like a plan?” Marietta turned her lavender orbs to the other girl. Amarissa would need to understand the basic idea before they did anything. Otherwise, it could lead to confusion and maybe even lose the game.

The man did himself no favors. His very demeanor irked Katashi. His level of persistence was beyond any the dark-haired male had encountered for quite some time. Yet, as much as it pained him to admit it, he was becoming more intrigued by the man’s proposition. To gain knowledge which might aid Damien in his goals and, subsequently, fulfill Katashi’s promise to lend assistance in the matter was rather enticing. He would be remiss not to consider the possibility it afforded. With his pact complete, he could move on to other endeavors. His expression remaining impassive, the Illusion mage posed a question to his intrusive guest, “You say your information might allow Damien to capture the one he seeks…does it also allow him to fulfill his other goal?” He shifted his stance so that he could face the other more fully. “And what of his plans to leave? Does that envelope of yours have details of where he seeks to go? I find it hard to believe he would make it so easy to determine information such as that. He dislikes informing anyone of his travel plans. I myself have difficulty drawing out the knowledge from him.” As it stood, he was currently unaware of any plans Damien had of departing the country. His last bit of intelligence on the Stone mage indicated he was still within Fiore, attempting to gain access to the royal ball fast approaching. He, of course, would not divulge this to the man, but would try to whittle out what details he could.

Amarisa was certainly having fun, and enjoying herself as Marietta pulled her to somewhere hidden in order to hide from the others who sought them out. This was some ultimate luck, getting to play with a pro! The fact she has never lost a game, was certainly relieving. Not a shred of worry hit her, the only thing was she didn't want to bring her down. How much would that suck, to make her lose her streak? She just couldn't let the girl try so hard to get where she was to be ended by Amarisa's own pathetic newbie play! Not a chance in hell she'd let that happen. Now in the alleyway and beside some random boxes, she wondered where the others were, if they were close by. As Marietta suggested they could not stay there long, she shook her head in agreement. They'd certainly be caught, if they sat here for too much time. Still, abiding time to think of where to go next was good. She listened to her explain herself on not being beat, but that didn't apparently mean the others weren't necessarily any good. She wasn't sure how good they were, but she couldn't underestimate the opposing team, especially when you've not seen them at play before. As long as she followed Marietta and done as she suggested, she hoped they could win! She nodded her head, listening to the girls plan, she made certain not to miss a single detail she said.

"Wow, that's really smart thinking! I'm in, it sounds like fun running on the roof too!" Amarissa smiled, loving the idea. They could hide, see far out, and playfully run along the roofs. This plan most likely would lead in their favor, and hopefully they didn't get caught, so they'd be victorious! "How are we gonna climb up there though?" She asked curiously, while she climbed up trees easily, roof tops were a bit more difficult to get up on. Maybe there was a latter on one somewhere, or a roof low enough to hop onto, if anything she'd just follow Marietta's lead! More than likely she already had an idea of how they were going to get up there. As they talked, her gaze focused on her surroundings, making sure none of the opposing teams would catch them or see them.

She nodded, smiling knowingly at the other, “Yeah it is! I love running on rooftops. You can see way out across the town or harbor, depending on where you’re at. Plus, between you and me,” she lowered her voice to a conspiratorial whisper, “They’re really good for hiding from your parents when you don’t want to do chores. I love taking naps on roofs. Nobody ever thinks to look up there either so I can sleep all day if I wanna.” Marietta winked. Nothing was as good as a midday nap nestled in the shade of a rooftop awning. “As to how we’re gonna get up there,” the dark-haired girl pointed across from where they were huddled. A metal ladder gleamed back. Its lower rungs were just within reach if Marietta stood on her tiptoes. “I didn’t pick this alleyway for nothing.” She giggled lightly then stood to her feet. Motioning for Ama to follow, she grabbed onto the lowest rung of the ladder and pulled down. Its hinges creaked and groaned as it slid lower, allowing them to climb up with ease. Marietta made sure to go second so she could tug the lower half of the ladder back into place. They didn’t want to give away their plan by leaving it. It’d be a sure sign they had taken to the rooftops.

“Come on,” Marietta said once she’d clambered over the edge of the roof. “The marina’s this way. We’ve probably got a good hour before the gang regroups at the marina. If we can get there before they do that then we’ll be good to go. Either that or they go straight for the marina and wait us out. It’ll be fun either way though.” She laughed girlishly before starting off in the direction she’d indicated. As she said, the rooftops were all spaced close enough to allow them to jump from one to the other without fear of falling and getting hurt. Although… Marietta hesitated just for a second. Turning to look at Ama, she gave her a reassuring thumbs up. “Since this is your first time doing this, you gotta remember one thing. Don’t look down when you go to jump. I made sure the distance wasn’t bad, but a lot of people freak out anyway if they look. If you want, we can jump the first one together?” She held out her hand and waited. The second Amarissa took it, if she took it, she would start the countdown. “On three. One. Two. Three!” At that, she would take a running start and leap across the gap between rooftops, sticking the landing on the other side. Exhilaration coursed through her veins. Wow did she love doing that!

Amarisa smiled gleefully as Marietta went on super blissfully about how much fun it was to run along roof tops. She herself, enjoyed climbing trees. This could defiantly be just as fun! If she found out she'd love it as well, maybe she'd stick with it as a hobby! "Wooww, really? You sold me! I'm loving the sound of it already!" She said excitedly, pumped to get up there. She curiously nudged her head to the side as Marietta lowered her voice to a whisper, she had never thought about it in that way. Of course, she'd never want to hide from her grandpa, she didn't mind chores. But they certainly weren't for everyone! "Sounds like a super hiding spot! Ahh, imagine sleeping and watching the sun rise, that would be so pretty!" Amarrisa's eyes sparkled with joy at the very thought, the glistening sun changing colors, watching it rise high into the sky. She wished she could see it now! Maybe another time! For now, they had a game to complete.

Amarissa watched as Marietta pointed out the ladder to which they would use in climbing up the rooftop. This was perfect! She went ahead and climbed the ladder first, being sure to balance herself on the roof. That was something she wasn't so great at, but these were larger roof tops so it was safe! She followed Mari, she didn't want to be beat to the Marina! It would make things a little more challenging. "I'm right behind ya!" She said cheerfully, following the girls lead. She was basically navigating, since she was relying on her to know which way to go next. Although, Mari seemed to be cautious about Amarisa's ability as it was her first time hopping roof tops. The building's weren't too much high, she was used to sitting in high up trees, so it didn't scare her much. A practice jump with her would be really relieving though! "I'd much prefer that, thanks!" Amarisa smiled happily, waiting until she counted down before jumping the first roof with her and landing with a hard thud. It was thrill full! Running and jumping on the roof, especially non accident proof, it was a whole lotta fun! "Hey, let's race to the last roof together!" Racing was a swift way of getting to the Marina fast, and hopefully beating the other group there. Plus, it added to the fun! Amarisa would wait for Mari first, she was going to be sure to understand the course of where she was going first, so she had to watch Mari first, though she doubted she'd get ahead anyways! Marietta was certainly really good at this! As someone who wasn't very actively good at much, it would be challenge, but all the same fun!

Marietta grinned widely at the blue-haired girl. Everything was going according to plan. With any luck, they would be at the boat within the next hour. The game would be over, and they would have their prize. “Let’s get to it then!” Without hesitation, the duo made their way to the rooftop. She was pleased to see Amarissa wasn’t afraid of the jump from one rooftop to the next. It made the task less difficult if the person wasn’t scared of the prospect. She’s a natural it looks like, Marietta nodded approvingly. The girl was already asking to race to the last one. “Alright,” she chuckled, “If you think you can handle it. But I’m not gonna take it easy on you so be prepared!” The dark-haired teenager waved her hand, indicating a row of roofs slightly to their right. “Guess you need to know the way, huh? Path’s pretty easy really. You go five roofs that way then three roofs to the left. Another two roofs ahead and we’re there. Think you got all that?” Her tone was light and teasing as she peered at her from the corner of her eye. If she could remember the way, then this would make the game go that much faster. “Remember though. We still gotta move quietly while we’re up here. The guys may not know we’re up here, but they’ll still be able to hear us if we get too excited. Last thing we need is to slip up because we got cocky, yeah?” It was probably an unnecessary warning but it was always better safe than sorry.

Amarisa gladly hopped the rooftop, she wasn't the greatest at maneuvering tops of roof's, considering she was a bit clutzy. But that never stopped her from trying and putting in the effort for some fun! These sort of jumps jump started her thrill side, this girl Marietta sure knew the best ways to have the best of entertainment! She only hoped after this game, that maybe they could become good friends! Amarisa would absolutely love to play this fun game with her more often, maybe it become a regular thing and be everyday! She couldn't even recall the last time she ever had as much fun as now. She was thinking about asking her after the game was finished, if she wanted to be friends, and than ask the others as well. She only hoped it wouldn't sound too forward. Soon after, she had asked to make it into a game, so that not only would it be more fun, but also it would help in the game of getting there faster. "Wouldn't be fun if you went easy on me." Amarisa said admittedly, smiling with eyes closed. While she wasn't the best jumper, or the fastest runner, she was still happy to at least add some more fun into the game! The girl would stare towards where Marietta pointed, a row of roof tops remaining ahead, making sure to memorize the direction to the best of her ability. "That sounds pretty simple enough! I've got it memorized!" She spoke with a cheeky grin, she just had to remember, five straight, than the next 3 left, keep going two and boom victory.

Amarisa listened to Marietta's advice, the other guys could be catching up at this very second, and that would certainly throw off the balance of the goal if they were spotted before they got there. "Oh fudge I forgot about the others! You're right, I'm sorry, I got ahead of myself there." She apologized whole heartily, she just had to keep her promise of never losing this game, Mari had a streak to withhold and like she said before, she wasn't going to break it! Or she'd feel forever guilty, and she'd probably never be her friend than. "We can make the rules of the race to be extra quiet, keep out of sight, and see who gets there first!" She already knew it was going to most certainly be Marietta there first, she only hoped she could keep up with her swiftness!

As Katashi finally showed real interest in his pitch, the man smiled with the faintest hint of relief. "Finally, some gears turning! See, I'm an info broker by trade, like I said. His desire to hide his plans means very little to a mage who can call on truth like a toy... I call it Scrying magic. I'm not really sure of his other goal, since I'm being honest in the spirit of earning your help. My magic isn't easy to control. Sure it shows me things, but I can't make it show me things on command. As for his plans to leave... walk with me." The man turned and walked for the edge of the park, stopping to check over his shoulder whether or not Katashi was following. If he did, the man would continue his spiel. If not, he'd turn around and trudge back, talking only loudly enough to be heard by the young man. "There's a chance he might not be leaving by his own will. I'm not sure. So, that bit of knowledge I am paying to you as a sort of down payment, in hopes I can get you to come with me. Now can we please get a move on? I really don't want this schmuck running into us in a public ******** park."

Interesting, Katashi thought, now studying the man more thoroughly. He had heard rumors of a magic capable of drawing truth from another. An intriguing ability that could be both troublesome yet beneficial. I will certainly need to be more careful around this man. His magic could prove worrisome if he attempts to use it upon me. There were things the Illusion mage desired to keep secret. Information he had gathered for Melanie’s and Damien’s purposes that could prove detrimental in the wrong hands. Hands, for example, such as an information broker. Katashi was not so foolish to think that, whether he agreed to the man’s request or not, he would not turn upon him at the earliest chance. It concerned him too that the man claimed to have little control over his magic. What might happen if his magic suddenly activated and revealed their plans? He could certainly not allow that. Hmm… Yes, there was certainly more he needed to know. As the man walked away, suggesting that he follow, the younger male found himself debating on his best course of action. To follow would mean more information to decipher with little extra effort. To stay his ground would likely mean more prodding from the broker…and far more annoyance. Hesitating but for a moment, he decided it best to walk with the man for the time being. He would break away at his earliest convenience.

Sauntering after, he listened with rapt attention while Damien’s plans were divulged. “That…is most irksome,” Katashi frowned. His recent reports on the blue-haired mage had not indicated his capture by the Magic Council or any such entity- the only ones capable of legally exiling a citizen, aside from the king. If he were being taken from the country unwillingly, then it was by someone with unsavory reputation. “Am I to assume you came by this knowledge using your Scrying magic?” He ignored the man’s concerns of discovery by the one who sought him. “Or did you happen upon it by some other fashion?” The Sirens’ Curse mage was careful not to tinge his words with accusation; however, he found it quite odd his companion would stumble upon so much relevant information by happenstance.

“It’s all right,” the girl smiled at Amarissa. “So long as you keep it in mind from here on out, then we’ll be good.” Her features brightened even more at the suggested rules of the race. “I like your style. I’m game. Let’s say loser gets half of the other’s share of the prize? Liven things up even more.” Who knew, if the game became even more fun because of this then she might suggest it to the group for future games. Once they were agreed, Marietta gave a nod of her head. “Right then, let’s move out. Ready? Set…Go!” She whispered as loud as she dared, bolting towards the edge of the roof. Wind ruffled her hair as she sailed over the ledge to the roof next door. Adrenaline pulsed in her veins. The thrill of the game coursed through her, driving her to victory. Her feet barely touched the stone rooftop. Legs and arms pumped back and forth to propel her forward. Faster and faster she went, though she made sure to keep well out of sight as she moved. Years of practice and play had made her like a phantom. A wisp of smoke that was glimpsed for an instant before it dissipated. This held true even here on the rooftop course.

Despite their race, Marietta made sure to keep track of Amarissa. Not just because of the additional rules, but also to make sure she didn’t lose her charge. How embarrassing would it be if she showed up to home base without her? Fortunately, the bluenette was fairly good at keeping pace. Marietta had to slow down once or twice, though she would deny it if Amarissa asked, to maintain close proximity. One by one, they closed the distance to their goal. Five rooftops turned to four then four to three and three to two until, at last, the dark-haired teenager’s feet landed on the last of them. “Whew!” She pumped her fist excitedly, keeping her voice in a whisper. At a glance, it looked as if her plan had worked. The gang hadn’t beat them to the marina yet. Spinning around, she beamed at her companion. “Looks like the plan worked. Now all we gotta do is climb down and get to the boat. Easy as whistling.” Marietta couldn’t wait! She took the girl’s hand once again and guided her to the side of the roof where another ladder greeted them. Taking two rungs at a time, the teenager slipped down to the alleyway, peering around the corner for any sign of the gang while she waited for Ama to do the same. “All clear,” she whispered, satisfied that they wouldn’t be seen. Seconds later, she darted from between the buildings with her charge in tow. Her mind focused on her one goal- get Amarissa to the boat.
