William was taken to the front door this time, unlike last time. "Why didn't you take me here last time?" William said to the creepy lady. He got a good look of the haunted house, it was a mansion with 3 floors from window that was visible. The creepy lady only cackled when she heard him, " well, then you would run away," she said without any hint of guilt, "Which challenge you will take this time?"
" mirror challenge," William decided to let it go and answered. It would only be a bother to argue what already happened. it's not like she would change her way anyway. He would only be giving himself problem. William chose mirror challenge as he failed the easiest, he was wise enough not to take more than he could deal. "okay," The creepy lady nodded, she tilted her head as if listening to something. A psychic thing, probably. William left the woman alone to start his challenge, before he did though, he was stopped, "Wait! before you do, knock on the door three times and said ' trick or treat' first." William stared at her suspicious. " and a ghost will spook me?" He said, his tone accusing. He didn't trust her one bit. " no no, it's simply tradition. You will get something useful if you do," The creepy lady immediately denied it. She did give him an amused look.
William stared at her a moment longer to try spotting any clue to a prank or lies. He didn't find any as he couldn't tell for sure when people lie anyway.William braced himself and knocked on the door three times. Soon as he did, the door creaked open slightly. White, tattered dress was what he could glimpsed from the opening. It was waiting. William caught himself and stuttered the word in hurry," t-tr-trick or treat." Pale, bony arms stretched out when he said so. An incense was in her hand, she gestured for him to take it. The door closed once he did.
"See, it's not hard," the creepy lady spoke from far behind. William thought she had left already like previously. He ignored her comment and opened the door once more. There was no sign of the earlier girl. The door closed quietly as he stepped in. It was more corridor.

William could hear echoes of laughter mixed with faraway scream that sounded fake. They had background music in here now? was what William thought. The wood floor creaked badly when he put his weight on it. William released Jasper to stand by. "we are here," he told the bulbasaur and advanced further into the house with aid of his flashlight. They didn't walk long to come across their opponent. The light blue flame a tell tale sign. It's a litwick. "Wait, Jasper. it's not your turn," William held Jasper back with his word. He took a pokeball from his belt and tossed it to release Agate. "Brine," William commanded. Water came down unto the litwick. It was over as soon as it began.

William returned Agate back before she hit the floor. He left the litwick behind to proceed further. He thought it was the same place that he encounter the litwick, maybe the rest of the challenge had similar route. It it's so, he would be able to anticipate what await him. It still didn't reassure him much when there's plenty of ghost to mislead challenger. His second time facing jellicent was different. The pokemon caught him from beneath him, before floating upward and dangling him upside down. " Help! " William flailed his arm as he panicked. Falling head first was disastrous even if it's not from high height. Jasper's vine whip collided with the jellicent, the force of it send the pokemon crashing into and through the wall. He, who got released fell on his back. "Ouch!" William cried out, his back hurts. his head was still spinning from falling. Jellicent was nowhere to be seen. "Bul bulba saur," Jasper and Mur came to his side, they were worried about him. It felt nice to have somebody who cared for his well-being, even if they were pokemon. " I am okay. Where's jellicent? is it over?" William managed to get into sitting position, while massaging his back. "Saur bulba saur," Jasper turned to check, there was nothing. Did it run away or got knocked out already? they had no way of determining it for sure. Previously, Jasper did beat the jellicent with one attack. They had forgotten however that Jasper had became stronger and that meant Jellicent too. It emerged while spreading out its tentacle out to grab Jasper. "Quick, vine whip!" William yelled out to the still bulbasaur. It snapped Jasper off his daze to lashed back. The jellicent was once more sent down and didn't get up. William breathed out in relief that he was able to give command in time.

They found a door at the end of the corridor and William knew what was beyond the door. It was a fake graveyard that they had to pass through to get to the other door. He would bet it was locked like last time, so they didn't check the door and went straight to find the ghost lurking inside. The place they found cofagrius in was empty. This complicate it for the pokemon could be roaming the place out of view. Mur couldn't locate the ghost when they became immaterial due to not enough psychic strength to detect faint traces of ghost. They stayed in group out of caution, each was told to watch out for each other.
The ground rumbled, some of the grave stone shifted in place. " get ready," William warned as they took position to react quickly when the ghost attack. " CoffAAAAAGRIUS!!!!" the coffin shouted and the rumble ceased after it showed itself. it was pretty direct, safe for his entrance effect. Amber was the one who battled it before, this time, William wanted to give Agate turn in training. "Agate, Brines," William threw the pokemon over the cofagrius's shadow hand. The light of pokemon release made cofagrius cringed back due to the intense light in the darkness. Water descent on him soon after, Agate rode on the water to land a hit. She wasn't able to get out of range quick enough from Cofagrius's knock-off which dislodged her exp-share. "Agate, use Icy Wind," William instructed. She splashed to get herself high enough to unleash cold, icy wind unto cofagrius. His shadow hand slowed when the wind hit and it disappeared. The coffin toppled to the ground which was cofagrius knocked unconscious. "You do great, Agate," William praised her and caught her. He sprayed potion unto her wound. Agate was close to losing conscious, so he let her rest in her pokeball.
They found the key dropped by cofagrius and proceeded to the next area.

The dim corridors this time was lined with doors on either side. William didn't like the idea of checking the room one by one, but he had no other choice. He didn't know how to lure the ghost out, so he had to settle with playing into the ghost's prank. One room had a skeleton figures that spooked him, especially when he only noticed it once it draped its bony arm over him. William ran around the room trying to dislodge it, until Mur flung it off with confusion. It clattered into a mess at the corner of the room. "Thanks, Mur," William petted the espurr as he said so. There wasn't anything unusual happening in the room after, so they went to check other room. Marionettes dropped from trap door in the ceiling, hidden door that just led to the room next door, etc. William was worn out afterward, they decided to take a break inside what appeared to be work room due to the desk and bookshelves. William propped himself into the couch, it was still in well enough condition, even the lamp he turned on. " knowing the ghost it will decide to show up when we took a break, " William couldn't get himself to relax when he considered the possibility. It was accompanied with a loud clatter from below the desk after he finished speaking. All eyes turned toward the desk. Could it be? that's what it's really planning? William motioned for his pokemon. They crept in to check. Jasper took the other side, while William and Mur took the right. They both looked toward the desk's hollow side. It startled something to fly toward William. He ducked away to the side and glimpsed small thing speeding through. William whipped around to see a pokemon he couldn't identify. "What's that?" William scanned the pokemon. "Beldum, the Iron Ball Pokémon. Beldum floats by emitting magnetic waves from its body to repel the Earth's magnetic field. They launch their claws into cliffs where they sleep. When Beldum gather in a swarm, they move in perfect unison as if they were but one Pokémon. They communicate with each other using brain waves." The pokedex informed him. It was a steel and psychic typing pokemon. Now that was odd, his opponent should be all ghost.
"do you have a trainer?" William cautiously asked the pokemon, since it was one of the possibilities. The pokemon also had different color to what his pokedex screen displayed. It was silver, instead of blue. It didn't heed his question, preparing to launch itself for take down attack. "Whoah! WAIT WAIT! We aren't enemy," William held his hands up to show he meant no harm. "Mur, tell to him so," William sought the espurr's aid to mediate. They were fellow psychic. " espaa," Mur called out to the beldum. It did stop the pokemon to regard the newcomer. they stared at each other, conversing in telepathy. Mur finally broke off the exchange, " beldum was hiding from ghost. He has no trainer, since he come here to get shelter from rain. The ghost has been chasing him all over the place, he got lost,"Mur explained. "Ghost. Bad," Beldum added his own. It sounded like his pokedex's robotic tone.
Beldum suddenly hid behind Mur, "GHOST!!" it cried out through telepathic link. "bane banette tte," A banette snickered at the door. The zipper of the ghost forming a creepy smile. It had found a prey. William found the banette unnerving. "Jasper," he said quietly that only those close to him could hear. The bulbasaur heeded him and took stance to face the banette. "Vine whip," William commanded. Jasper shot his vine in straight line, making Banette dodged to the side. It was there that Jasper moved, using his own body weight to change his vine into a swipe. The vine whip connected, making banette to screech out in fury. Jasper cringed due to the grating noise, his vine faltered. Allowing banette to gain its charged for attack. Jasper whipped his vine wildly in attempt to prevent banette from getting close. He got a hit, but Banette charged in still for a knock-off attack. The attack dislodged Jasper's miracle seed. Jasper had retracted his vines when the attack connected, so before banette was able to counter the banette with another vine whip. His last attack ended the battle. Jasper was breathing hard. William rushed to heal him.

Beldum was impressed that they managed to defeat the ghost that was tormenting him. "Trainer. Strong," Beldum transmitted the word. "I. Follow," he continued saying as he made his decision. He thought it would be safe to tag along with these human. William was perplexed of what to do. He had so many pokemon in such short time, it would be more work to give them all the care they required. Although it was tempting to take the beldum in. There weren't many chance for him to catch a beldum that wasn't native to Kanto. "Sure," William replied after some thought. He took out a pokeball and tapped it on the beldum, it shut still with a click, before re-releasing him back. "Welcome to the team," William said.

William left the room after a break. The beldum had chosen to be inside as it wasn't fond of ghost and couldn't help fighting them. They were now back to the dark hall where they lost before. William released Amber for he felt he would need her if there's more than one ghost like last time. Shifting his flashlight, William walked into the darkness. His pokemon both was alert for any attack. It didn't take them long before it started. Shadow flitted across, then tapping noise as if something following them, William thought he heard muffled snicker. Another was chilling wind out of nowhere, then a dim glowing eyes in the darkness. It happened in interval. Each showed more and more individuality. "Mur . . . how many are there?" William was pale now. They were practically being rounded up. If his count was right, 4 ghosts and he had 4 pokemon capable to fight ghost. "try establish telepathic route among us three," William added next, he didn't want the ghost to eavesdrop on their plan. Once it did, William began to relay his idea, "It's a bad idea to fight all four of them at the same time. It is best if we split them up and each of us take care of one. The duskull previously know toxic, so Jasper should deal with it." Amber interrupted him that she wanted to try the gengar again. William was worried, "you barely won last time and needed to use oran berry." Amber was thoughtful, "let me hold the berry then. It's best I go for opponent I am familiar in, so I know what to look out for," William thought for a moment and agreed. He was worried, but they didn't know the other ghost's strength, so at least, Amber has a slim chance to win against gengar. He gave Amber an oran berry to hold, while the eviolite was given to Mur. "I think, I will take the cold one," Mur took the leftover. "the glowing eyes seemed the mildest of them all. Will, you and Agate should take him on," Mur advised. His pokemon all agreed that it was best to give his trainer one with the least malicious intent. William didn't argue with the conclusion. He had to supervise Agate and she was the weakest among them all, "Alright, we need to attract the target's attention one by one and drew them away, while we make sure the rest stayed."
Hours later, his pokemon had succeeded separating the ghost one by one to initiate battle. It was only him and the pumpkin like pokemon. It appeared to panic when it found out that it was the only one left. "Pumpkabo boo!" the ghost came into light for attack. It was rash in its panic to attack. William tossed Agate's pokeball above the pokemon. He was starting to get good with aiming. "Agate, icy wind," William instructed. It was over like that. He had guessed with how close the ghost appear to pumpkin it could be part grass and he was right. Icy wind did a lot of damage that it was all it took. " good work, Agate," William praised the feebas. He didn't returned her like usual, but decided to pick her up and held her in his arm. He was rather lonely and insecure to stay in the darkness alone. There was also possible threat of more opponent.
Many many hours later, the hall's light was switched on. Illuminating the whole place. He could even spot his pokemon. They all returned back to his side. Mur was first, he didn't have many wound. "It's a piece of cake," Mur told him. Despite having disadvantage, Mur had it surprisingly easy. He had picked the right opponent. Next was Jasper, he was beaten sore and last was Amber who crawled back. The two was in bad condition, William hurried to heal them, before he healed the rest.
The creepy lady was back too. "Congratulation," she announced, "you have completed the first challenge." She had a package with her and handed it to him, " and this is your prize." William took it, feeling the weight of the package, it was quite light. He asked the question that nagged him, " the first? there's more?' he was weary to hear he had to take another challenge. "yes, you can retake the challenge. The prize gets better the more times you completed it. It should be in the flyer I gave you," she explained and then waited.

William suspected that it would become harder to complete the higher the reward. This challenge was not so bad when he already knew what to expect. Now that he thought about it, they shouldn't be life threatening if this is legal. He still couldn't forget how a gengar shot shadow ball on a person. He wasn't enticed by the reward, only the fact that it was a quick way to train his pokemon. William decided to see what his pokemon wanted to do. "What you guys want to do?"
His pokemon was eager to continue on, even though the battle was hard. It was quite obvious that his pokemon enjoyed the battle. Pokemon really did love to battle, William thought. It was a strange habit. " I see . . ." He nodded, " We will continue," William told the lady. "Excellent," The lady clapped her hands together. "The second challenge will consist of defeating 8 ghosts, only this time, you will have to find your own way out with the ghost preventing your escape," She explained, before inquiring further, " Normal or Mirror?" which William answered, "Mirror," without any doubt. The content of the challenge didn't sound that different to him. Aside from the lack of scare perhaps? though it didn't seem it will be that different. The creepy lady waved for him to come to her, thinking he would get teleported, he returned all his pokemon, except Mur. How wrong was he as he found himself falling when he was near her. A trap door that he didn't know of opened beneath him, sending him screaming as he fell.

It was a long fall down. William was stricken with terror to think of a solution, although even if he could, there wasn't much he could do without a flying pokemon. His fall was thankfully broken by a pile of mattresses, it still hurt as they weren't the softest thing. Their purpose was to not injury challenger too badly as in not have anyone got broken limb. It took William a few moment to calm himself down and waiting for the ache to subsided before he got up to look at his surrounding. There were a lot of things he didn't know surrounding him, tall wooden shelves on either side, some covered with decaying fabrics and dust, dust everywhere. there was even a door that wasn't attached to any wall only obstructing path between. There's a piece of paper tacked onto it which William approached with flashlight to get a better look. " knock 3 times and say ' Trick or Treat," was written in it. The instruction was the same one he was told when he started his challenge. It seemed silly, yet William had to go through the door anyway with the way it was located. He knocked it and said the word. The door clicked audibly, a gaseous head of a ghastly peered between the door. The ghost offered him candies which William made no move to take. He didn't want to hold his hand out toward a ghost. "Tch," the ghost clicked its tongue in annoyance, it dropped the candies as it faded out from view. The ghost was kinda rude to vanish so soon and dropping the candies all over the floor. William didn't really wanted to pick them up. Mur didn't share his sentiment and already started to pick up the candies.

Beyond the door was a maze of basement, instead of wall, miscellaneous objects formed the wall. William followed the path until he came across a blue glow that came from a litwick. When William approached the pokemon, it stopped before running away. It certainly was different than more violent nature of previous challenge. William only paused momentarily before he went after the pokemon. It took them through series of turns that William finally realized the litwick was either leading him to a trap or making him lose his sense of direction, for the litwick didn't pass through wall when it could and it would slow down whenever it was getting too far.
"Amber!" William called as he released the pikachu to his side. "Thundershock," he pointed toward the fleeing litwick. Amber began her onslaught of thundershock to the litwick's panic. It tried to dodge but it got hit after a couple of barrage, allowing Amber to caught with the pokemon. Litwick snapped out of his pain to retaliate with a will-o-wisp which burned Amber. It was evident from how she winced with every movement. William was worried of the status effect, still, as long as Amber finish the battle quickly, he would be able to treat her afterward. He called for more thundershock and litwick didn't deem it time to attack, instead, it cursed her and fainted, ending the battle with Amber afflicted with pain. William hurried to Amber side, he pulled out a lava cookie and fed it to Amber to cure her burn, while curse could be dispelled by returned Amber into her pokeball.

His act of chasing the litwick had led William lost. He didn't know how many turns he had taken and what direction he was in now. It didn't matter now, he supposed, what path he took when it would be the same to him. William continued further the path and picked random turn, he did make sure to stay on one direction at least, go forward. After awhile, he finally encounter his next opponent. A jellicent hovered in the middle of the path. William thought he must be on the right way then if he encountered his target. William decided to use Amber again to let her get some training. "Amber, thundershock," he tossed the pokeball near the jellicent and shouted command as soon as the pikachu was released. It allowed Amber to used thundershock in close range, before she back off to gain distance when the jellicent glowed briefly without any effect. "Again," William commanded. Amber's thundershock took out Jellicent and cleared the path for them to proceed.

Hours after wandering the dark, moldy and dusty basement. William had encountered many many ghost which he sent his pokemon one after another. They had come close with duskull, the pokemon that William had the hardest time to fight still. He had to use his lava cookie again, making it only one remained in his inventory. Finally he found the exit. He didn't encounter anyone else until he ascended the stair. The creepy lady was waiting above. "Congrats!" she gave her wide grin and handed her a packaged. The content was 3 x duskull sugar skull, 2 x cofagrius coffee, 3 x banette bagel, TM57 charge beam, TM98 Power up Punch and a mind plate. William left the haunted house afterward, opting to not continue anymore.
