MICHAEL Mission Start!**

Mission Type: Scavenging*****

Michael wanders into the wastes of Pittsburgh in an attempt to scavenge for supplies. He comes upon an abandoned shopping center containing mostly run down retail stores. There are multiple vehicles scattered about with broken windshields and glass covers the ground like sparsely fallen snow. There are a few zombies wandering the streets nearby but they have not yet taken notice of the wary mechanic.

OPTIONS:

1 - Investigate the cars.
2 - Enter the first store.
3 - Enter the second store.
4 - Check the back alley behind the stores.

** - Other players may post and perform actions in town, or go on missions of their own. It will not interrupt this one.

***** - If a player fails a scavenging mission, they will be wounded for up to 30% damage and will lose half of whatever supplies they managed to gather during the mission before being transported back to the group.

"Ahhhh, son of a b***h." Michael swore under his breath. Of course there were these buggers limping around. Nothing was ever that easy. But, he came to look for stuff, so that's what he was going to do. Bending over down low, he began to walk before stepping on some glass, making a satisfying "crunch". His head instantly shot up and he quickly looked around. It seemed like the zombies didn't hear. Michael frowned as he looked at the glass scattered on the road ahead. This was going to be a problem. He had two options, reach the sidewalk or go through the zombies. From what it looked like, the sidewalk was only a few feet away, and it didn't look like there was any glass on it. Probably safer to go that way.

The hardest part was getting there. Michael had his workboots on, and those would crush the glass like nothing. He needed something that would at least muffle the sound of the glass getting crushed. Maybe there was something around the surrounding area for something to use. A pillow? Nah, that was wishful thinking. A car seat cover could work, or maybe even- Michael spotted a discarded sweater lying a few feet away. That could work. Taking his spanner out of his coveralls, he hooked the sweater by the hood and lifted it over to him. He folded it once in half and laid it on the ground in front of him. Putting a foot on it, he pushed down on it. There was a tiny tinkle of glass breaking. Not perfect, but it'd have to do.

Now there was another problem though. He only had one sweater, and it'd take at least a couple steps to make it over. Maybe.... jump? Through it down in-between him and the sidewalk. That'd have to do. He picked the sweater off the ground and tied the sleeves around it so the sweater-step wouldn't unfold. Careful now, Marcel... He gave a light toss and it landed more-or-less where he wanted it to. Michael took a few steps back before starting into a run which he really hoped was quiet enough and, using the sweater as a stepping stone, made it to the sidewalk.

He smiled inwardly, despite probably making things a lot more complicated than they needed to be. Time to look around for crap. He looked at the car he found himself in front of. Eh, why not. He brought his spanner up and slowly pulled the car door open. The hardest part started now.

Option 1 selected.

Michael's ingenious use of a discarded sweater to muffle his approach successfully allowing a stealthy infiltration into the parking lot of the shopping center. He manages to reach the first car and scours it to discover 5 Scrap. He is able to replicate the feat and reach the second car with relative ease, though there is unfortunately nothing to be found in this vehicle.

The undead wandering around the area remained mostly oblivious, though two have now exited the first store and are loitering near the front doors.

OPTIONS:

Option 1: Hide in the car.
Option 2: Engage the two zombies outside the first store.
Option 3: Sneak to the back alley.
Option 4: Rush into the second store.

Only when she stopped to pass the back of her palm over her sweaty forehead did she realize that she had been holding her breath for the sixty seconds right before pulling up next to the old supermarket. There was no elated smile on the woman's face, but Liona was relieved all the same that they'd made it.

After tying up her hair in a low ponytail, she was next to go into the glove compartment after Micheal. "Don't mind if you do," she replied to him as she reached in to take a pistol for herself. She remembered paint balling with friends before on more than one occasion, and often finding herself wondering how a real gun would compare. Now, she wasn't so sure that she wanted to find out.

She got out the car and went to their vehicle's trunk to inspect their supplies. "I'm going to see if I can find us some more ammo and other goodies." Food and money were high on her priority list of other goodies. She had her eyes on the upgrades at the auto shop down the road from their safe zone. "See you in a bit. Stay safe." After closing the trunk's lid, checking her pistol for ammo, fishing out a holster from the trunk, and taking a deep breath to collect her calm, she set off.

LIONA Mission Start!**

Mission Type: Scavenging*****

Liona departs from the group and wanders the ruined city with caution. Many half-devoured bodies littered the streets and the sight was depressing at best . She soon comes upon a pharmacy that appears to be mostly intact. One body, clad in biker leathers and helmet, lays strewn out beside the wall of the building. The area is suspiciously quiet, despite the devastation going on throughout the city. The young woman ponders if trying to find a service entrance would be a wise choice given the likelihood of a locked front door.

OPTIONS:

1 - Examine the biker's remains.
2 - Enter the front door.
3 - Enter the back alley.

** - Other players may post and perform actions in town, or go on missions of their own. It will not interrupt this one.

***** - If a player fails a scavenging mission, they will be wounded for up to 30% damage and will lose half of whatever supplies they managed to gather during the mission before being transported back to the group.

"Ffffffff-" Michael stopped himself before he swore this time. He was going to go inside the closest store, but the goon brothers just trudged out, which probably meant there were a lot more inside. Staying in the car was definitely not an option, especially because there were still some of them wandering around on the road, some closer than he'd like. The first store was his destination, but he needed to get inside without attracting too much attention. Even if he wasn't going to go in the store, he needed to get out of the car before he got cornered in it.

Skipping time. Slowly pulling over the sweater with his spanner, he tossed it again so it was between the car and the sidewalk. Michael carefully stepped out of the car, and skipped over to the sidewalk. Once he landed, he found himself in front of an alleyway. Hey, if he couldn't go through the front, why not go through the back? If the store was already looted, most of the stuff would be gone from the shelves. The storage rooms though, maybe not.

Nodding his approval at his modified plan, he quietly crept into the alleyway with his spanner ready to club anything that moved. The old piles of garbage lying around were making him nervous, and like hell he was going down because of some dumpster zombie.

MICHAEL - MISSION
Option 3 Selected.

Michael carefully entered into the alleyway with a great deal of hesitancy as he neared the back door to the store by the dumpsters. Dried blood seemed to be caked on the nearby walls, though no real hostility could be seen. As he reached for the door, it appears to be locked. Giving the door a half-hearted shove, the mechanic determined that it could be weak enough to break through with his spanner. Alternatively, he could try to shoot the lock... or he could potentially return to the supermarket before things potentially got worse.

OPTIONS:

1 - Break through the weak door.
2 - Shoot the lock and rush in.
3 - Return to town.

All of her senses were on high alert. She swore she could almost hear the pounding in her chest, and she hoped that the zombies couldn't. She couldn't see any of them, but she didn't rule out the possibility that they were still around, given the plethora of bodies lying around. "Someone could be doing a better job cleaning up..." she thought, trying to calm herself with a joke, but mindful not to say it aloud and attract any unwanted attention.

Her wandering eyes happened on the single biker. She wasn't too fond of their type (though she was sure she'd thought differently way back when, when she was not on the run from nuclear and zombie apocalypses and it was still possible for her to hit up bars), but she couldn't help feeling sorry for the poor fellow. She took a few steps towards the body, and that was when hesitation hit. She raised her pistol. There was no guarantee that the man was completely dead.

She wasted little time thinking about it, and fired one shot in the guy's cranium, and then a second one just in case. She had used a few shots, but it was better than getting bit. She figured there was a greater chance that she might find the ammo and money she had been looking for on the biker than in the pharmacy, anyway. And if she was going to head to the pharmacy afterward, she didn't want this guy waking up and biting her in the behind the moment she turned around.

Immediately, she scrambled towards the body and gave it a pat down. Given the noise she made with her pistol, she reasoned that at best, she only had so much time to look before things started coming after her.

ACTION: 1 - Examine the biker's remains.

Now, Michael was not a religious man, not at all. But the door being locked? He decided to take it as a sign to get the hell out of there. He got some scrap, wasn't much, but that's really all he came out for in the first place. Maybe he'd take up a job, preferably with other people around. That'd be real nice. He slowly began to make his way out of the alley, still cautious, it was when you thought you were safe when things got you. Slowly, but surely, he found himself back on the sidewalk. From there, he headed back the way he came, and back to the rest of the group. As he walked back, he remembered that Liona had left to look for supplies as well. He crossed his fingers. Hopefully her trip was as uneventful as his.

LIONA - MISSION
Option 1 Selected.

Due to Liona's sudden action to insure the corpse of the biker remained nothing but a corpse, the body did not move as she began searching through its belongings. Within the confines of his jacket, she discovers 25 Ammo and after thoroughly inspecting him another 10 Dollars hidden away in his back pocket.

It was not long however before the gunshots from before drew the unwanted attention she knew had been waiting for her as four zombies began shambling out of the back alley, moaning sickly as they plodded towards the source of the sound.

OPTIONS:
1 - Engage the zombies and make for the service entrance to the pharmacy.
2 - Attempt to break through the front door.
3 - Return to Town

Ammo and money. "Perfect..." she thought to herself as she retrieved and pocketed the goods.

A moan pierced through the silence, and she looked up, her hair whipping about, to see the undead filtering out from the back alley. Her muscles tensed instantly but she did her best to keep her cool. "Am I glad I did not go there," she said to herself before turning back to the biker. "Sorry sweetheart, I have to run. It was a fun date." She blew the dead man a kiss before leaving the way she came in.

It wasn't long before she found their parked vehicle, along with the others. "S'up? I went on a date and found us some small gifts." She turned over a palm, revealing the ammo and the 10 dollars. "A modest hourly wage..."

As Liona pulled into Pittsburgh, Polly woke up Sandy and when Lion finally parked, they exited. Polly examined what supplies they had in the trunk and thought of the $20 in her pocket. "It may come in handy later so maybe I shouldn't use it right now" she thought to herself then stuffed it into her backpack with the rest of the supplies. Besides scavenging and buying supplies, there was only the job board...

The job board seemed safe enough for the two of them. She couldn't leave Sandy alone so she decided to go to the job board and see what there was in store for them. "Come on Sandy, we're going to go get our first job," Polly said with a smile and held Sandy's hand, but at the same time muttered under her breath "Hopefully not the last..."

Ambrose glanced out the archway past the barricade of the supermarket and noticed the universal cross symbol in the distance, signifying a hospital. He ran his hands through his hair and considered their options. They would likely need more medical supplies before they reached their destination on the west coast and Pittsburgh seemed safe enough despite the devastation.

He returned to the station wagon and pulled a rifle and several bullets from the trunk before addressing everyone.

"I spotted a hospital in the distance. I'm gonna go check it out... If I don't make it back in a few hours... Don't wait for me."

With that grim announcement, the doctor departed from the reinforced supermarket and wandered into the wastes...

Matt had been watching outside the car when everyone just wandered off, leaving him alone. "I. . . I guess I'll stay here and watch the car?" he half asked their retreating backs but thought to add in a shout to Polly, "Don't go far. And don't take the girl anywhere dangerous," before half flopping against the side of the station wagon to lean against it as he waited. He did not like everyone going off alone, not one bit, but he didn't seem to have much say in the matter. He was used to that though. What he wasn't used to was the desperation in everyone's eyes, the blood on many of their clothes, that tense knot of immanent danger he kept trying to swallow in his throat.

He was watching the passing crowds with a wary gaze when Liona returned. He couldn't help but frown slightly for her casual aire but forced up a smile with a nodding shrug, "Hopefully we won't need the bullets" he knew it was wishful thinking. Then he glanced up to look through the crowd for the others and anything else that might be interesting as he spoke idly, "Not certain what value the money has left given our circumstances though we might benefit from having more food. Do you think anyone would accept it for trade?" he glanced back at Liona questioningly then shook his head and looked off in the direction Polly had taken the little girl.

"The girls went off that way," he informed Liona, "They've been gone longer than I'd like. Perhaps one of us should go check on them before we think of shopping," he didn't really ask as he looked back at the woman. "Maybe if Michael or Ambrose come back we can see about supplies but someone should stay with the car. I don't like the looks of some of these. . ." he trailed off giving a passing person a tight smile and little nod.
