Jean-Claude---&---Jessica

Jean-Claude nodded swiftly as it was told they could physically attack the Mightyena now.
He quickly used a Bounce attack, which catapulted him on and off of the Mightyena's back and in front of its face.
The Lopunny followed up with a Jump Kick to the jaw.
Jessica needed to remain still to charge up another Aura Sphere.
So to keep herself from seemingly being sucked into the unforgiving darkness, she stabbed her blade into the ground and held it tight.
After a few moments, she was able to send her powerful attack at the Mightyena.

The team quickly rushed towards the guild again as Shimmer unleashed another Wrap against the Mightyena, then releasing before the effect came. He stood his ground and used his Hidden Power move against the Mightyena, howling in pain a bit.

Cherry Edit: A little too much damage for two sentences don't you think? Damage has to be reasonably reflected in your post. >>

Epitaph Saileithe Darius

Epitaph made sure to take the fall as she caught Zero, laying there for a second with the Glaceon on her as she sighed in relief and her temperature continued to lower.
The sinking was the least of her worries as she looked at the sleeping Glaceon… She didn’t exactly question it—he seemed to be acting strange prior and that was enough for her to not want to wake him up out of fear of him freaking out… If he could wake up, that is. After getting thrown like that, she didn’t see him randomly waking up quite yet.
Epitaph turned her attention toward the ground before working Zero onto her back. She began to tred in the darkness as if running in knee deep water until she was back on top of it, quickly retreating back to Solaris. She grabbed his scruff in her mouth as she tugged him out of the darkness what well she could. He wasn’t exactly small and Zero wasn’t exactly light. Size meant nothing when they were so alike.

Babysitting wasn’t a thing of the past either.

As Sai was safely dropped back on the ground, she returned to Darius and rested her sight on the Mightyena as it got ravaged… Why he did this was unknown to her and god damnit she was sinking again.
Sai growled, freezing the ground around her, and those close enough by. It seemed to work as planned because she was no longer sinking.
Hopefully everyone else can walk on ice, if not then it’s their problem now.

Darius, finally up and moving again and his eye readjusted, he was at the Mightyena quickly. His Detect activated instantly in response to the attacks of those around him, avoiding the attacks of his ranged allies as he punched the Mightyena in the side along it’s cuts with a ThunderPunch. He hopped back slightly, preparing another attack before halting. His ears twitched as he quickly turned and ducked as a number of Ice Shards pelted the Mightyena.
Darius sometimes wondered if Sai made such close calls on purpose.

The Mightyena took the attacks in a rather disgraceful manner. He stumbled, thrashed at those close by and finally released another large pulse to push the Guilds away. Sai tumbled back easily and Darius just stumbled and fell back on his behind before scurrying out of the way. Ep just winced and lost her grip on Solaris.

The ground changed greatly around the Mightyena, it’s eyes gaining a rather insane look as the darkness that covered the ground began to pull inward towards him... It looked like a black hole.

((If standing wasn’t enough of a problem, now you might want to get rid of the Mightyena before he gets rid of your first! Who knows what will happen if you get too close… I wouldn’t try.Spoilers: you die a low, painful, black filled death.))

Solaris

Solaris's claws extended as he grabbed desperately at the earth to try and pull himself up. The sudden pull at the ruff of his neck dragged him upwards, the momentum helping his claws find a home in the soil and his paws to pull him up. He could still feel it under the blackness, somewhere.
"Th...Thanks." Solaris stopped to take in his breath only to find himself sinking again. Struggling against it with only his front paws had been like trying to swim against a raging current; all he could do before Epitaph had helped him was try to keep his head above.
He considered going back on the offensive before he noticed Zero draped over her back. It would probably be bad for both of them, he reasoned, to maintain direct contact.
And, well, it would be a lie to say he didn't enjoy the closeness, even if it was all business.
"Here, let me..." He slid up beside Epitaph and began pulling the Glaceon over to him. Glaceon were smaller than Espeon to begin with and the one (good) thing Solaris had inherited from his parents was a large size. Taking on the Glaceon was easy enough, especially with Psychic to aid the transition.
With Zero completely on his back, he began subtly spazzing out as he danced across the field, trying to keep himself above the blackness. "Oh! Cold, cold cold..."
User Image
Serrin
Serrin continued his assault. He strafed around the Mightyena, circling the beast as if he were about to devour prey. He threw a Razor Leaf with each hop. One leaf, a hop. A second and then a third followed in short order.
Serrin wasn't getting anywhere near that darkness. The Mightyena had snapped, and the area around him seemed... different. Dangerous, somehow.

Katara

Katara flapped her wings hard as a wall of force radiated from the Mightyena, knocking her back in the air. She soon caught herself, and spent several seconds hovering in order to regain her senses.

She saw everything seemingly getting sucked in towards the Mightyena, and she hovered cautiously for many more moments before making her decision and locking her wings against her side, free-falling towards the dark type in an attempt to simply spear the canine with her metallic body.

She screeched loudly and opened her mouth, shooting several sharp star-shaped metal pieces down at the Mightyena even as she consecutively twitched her wings, sending blades of air before her.

Only seconds into her dive she felt the pull of the darkness, and flared her wings open in an abrupt stop, a sudden terror filling her. With barely a thought she climbed back desperately, regaining altitude, away from the horrible blackness, the nothingness.

Katara was soon far far away from the battle, severely shaken from the feeling of something tugging at...something within her. As if her soul was being ripped out. Not pleasant.

Cecil

Cecil went flying back from the explosive outward force, but he landed on his feet. Under him the darkness that made up the ground slowly began to move in towards the Mightyena, and Cecil frowned as he fought against it.
Once again it seems too dangerous to get close to the Dark Type, except this time he was less willing to charge in blindly. That last attack had been much stronger than he had anticipated.

Feeling rather useless and frustrated, Cecil did the only thing he could do from a distance- he weaved a spell of imprison on the Mightyena. A load of help that'll be, but at least the Mightyena can't start Shadow-walking now! If it even could to begin with.

((Cecil cast imprison on the boss. Only move that might even be nearly applicable is Shadow sneak though.))

User ImageUser Image
Acer && Crescendo

Cress was very very wary of the dark swirls, and struggled his best to stay away from the Mightyena. He was frightened, hating battle and hating the...surrealness of this fight. He wasn't comfortable with anything going on around him.

The Turtwig on his back was more than a little spooked himself, but he tried to focus his best as he fired razor leaf after razor leaf at the Mightyena. Eventually he just closed his eyes tightly shut before throwing two final attacks, too scared to really continue. Facing the essence of darkness itself is unnerving to everyone, especially a young child like himself.

Crescendo stayed out of the fighting himself, but sought to help. He didn't want to get anywhere near the Mightyena, but he used the darkness drawing in towards the dark type to his advantage. The Milotic breathed out a small bubble of water, which was soon enveloped by the darkness. When it reached the general vicinity of the Mightyena, drawn by the moving ground, the highly compact Water Pulse suddenly exploded, its force slamming against the canine's side.

Seeing this through an open slit in his eyes, Acer closed his eyes again and concentrated hard. A small glowing ball poked up between the leaves on his head, finally breaking free and rolling down his face, bouncing once off Cress's back before falling into the darkness.

The seed bomb went off similarly to the water Pulse.

Epitaph Saileithe Darius

Sai backed away as she was pulled forward, a wall of ice formed in front of the Glaceon, stationary in the ground as she turned her back against it and looked over her shoulder at the Mightyena as he took the attacks once again. Darius swiftly made his way back to her in a series of Quick Attacks, coming to her side resting his paw against the thin wall of ice in order to keep his balance. He was a meleer, and he wasn’t getting anywhere near that.

“W- What’s happening to him…?”
Darius blinked, turning his attention back to the Mightyena as it began to cringe and shudder. The Relic around the Mightyena’s neck began to give clear pulses and shimmers as he stumbled around, trying to keep his balance.
During this time, the darkness began to vanish, retracting back to the Mightyena’s relic. The plain was left clear and normal. As the last of the darkness returned to the relic, the Mightyena began to growl and crouch slightly. The relic rejected him entirely in the end, and now it was left to rip him apart.

Epitaph’s eyes narrowed as she quickly approached the Mightyena, her temperature skyrocketing from what it once was with Zero. The Mightyena might have been standing still, but the idea of him doing anything at this point seemed slim to her and he was only getting worse.

Turning to the Flareon as she got too close for comfort, the Mightyena growled, snapping at her with his jaw, only to get it rejected by her firey paw.

“I wouldn’t try that if I were you, what is the meaning of this?” Epitaph growled at him. The Mightyena, slowly relaxing stared at her with a blank expression as his body giving off clear shivers. He quickly turned his head away as he began to cough violently and traces of blood scattered across the ground. Turning back to her, his expression turned to one rather fearful, knowing he was dying.

“It… It was Darkrai…” The Mightyena replied quietly as he laid down and his breathing became harsh. Epitaph’s head turned slightly in confusion, though her expression remained ever as strict as before. “Do go on.”

“…He gave me this with orders to take out the guilds.”
The Mightyena worked the relic off his neck, knowing it served no purpose for him anymore. Epitaph was quick to place her paw over it protectively.
“Do you know where he is?”
The Mightyena shook his head before laying it on the ground and closing his eyes.

Epitaph quickly turned her head back to Solaris, her paw still over the relic being as close to the Mightyena as she was. She nodded her head, gesturing for him to come over.
“He claims Darkrai gave it to him.”

Sai stared at her mother, dumbfounded. Darius just shook his head and smirked. Epitaph hasn't changed much.

Serrin

Serrin jetted forward the moment the Mightyena showed a sign of weakness. He came to a stop behind, yet near, Epitaph when it became apparent their foe was too weak to continue his fight.
At this point, no longer distracted or blinded, the Ivysaur saw the necklace very clearly.
User Image
Solaris
Solaris hunched down and slid Zero off of his back before prancing over to the Mightyena, completely victorious. Their foe had been vanquished!
He grew a little more serious at the word "Darkrai", though it hardly masked his elation. "Darkrai gave it to him?" In fact, if anything, it only increased his joy. Darkrai has given him this and sent it here? And the guild took him out without any significant injuries or death? So Solaris had just, single-handedly, managed to both defeat a menace and get them a potentially crucial lead back to Darkrai?
This could get him off probation~ Better yet, Arceus might even commend him! Taking care of Nico was one thing, but getting rid of Darkrai was even better.
Solaris gleefully snapped the chain and began his announcement to the guild. "Good job, everyone! Head back to the guild and gather your rewards~!" It was very obvious from the tone of his voice that he was elated by something or other.
He gathered the chains between his teeth and began to prance off with an unholy glee when a sharp poke in the side interrupted him. He turned to face the Ivysaur, recognizing him after a moment of staring and a few words of his voice that this was one of Tolin's comrades.
"S... Solaris. Be very... very careful with that."
Solaris cocked his head and looked back at him inquisitively. When did he learn to speak so well? "Why? It's just an amulet."
Serrin's face froze in place, a subtle anxiety creeping in as he sought out an explanation.
"Well... Darkrai gave it to him, right? It was probably what made him so powerful, but it ended up killing him. If you hold onto it too long, it might hurt you."
Solaris furrowed his brow. The kid raised a good point. He seemed to just randomly keel over back there... he should probably be careful.
Then again, he'd been getting reports in for the last week, so it probably wouldn't hurt him just holding it. As long as he didn't do something catastrophically retarded like wear it, it would probably be fine.
Solaris pranced off with a dismissive "Alright then." Serrin was just a kid, after all. He'd barely been forming sentences when Solaris last saw him. He probably didn't even know what he was talking about.

Serrin watched as Solaris gleefully walked back towards the city, pendant in tow.
He... doesn't know what it is. He can't do any damage with it that fast, right? I'll talk to Alfred right away, at least.
Serrin ran far ahead of the rest of the guild, hoping very dearly that he would manage to intervene in time.

Chapter Complete!
The forces that seek to destroy the guild have been held at bay for another day! However, there's no end for the trouble of the guilds; with Nico at every turn, the looming threat of the balance and Darkrai finally playing his hand, how will things continue...?

Epitaph Saileithe Darius

Epitaph bit her lip as she listened to Solaris and Serrin. She was quick to chase after the two, more specifically Solaris. He said he'd like her to keep him in line and so she would... Or at least try. The way he blew off the Ivysaur was a bit intimidating.
"Solaris! You'd better be careful with that!" Epitaph shouted at him, still quite a ways behind the over joyed Espeon.

Sai and Darius glanced at each other then made their way back. So Darkrai was involved after all.

Gouka looked about as everyone was falling back to the guild. His face showed disappointment at first, then he sneered at the defeated foes and turned his back on them.
"Come on Clair. The battles over and there are other things we can be doing."
Clair sighed, irritated that he had the nerve to talk to her like; but he was right. The battle was won and now everyone was just going back to what they were doing before the alarm sounded.
"Comming, Captain Mutt."
Even though he did not make a direct remark, Clair still found pleasure in the annoyed growl he let escape his throat.

Cecil

Cecil allowed his tail to resume its normal form, staying a little ways back as he caught bits of the conversation. His ears flickered in interest at the mention of "Darkrai"- it was a Legendary. He knew quite a bit of the legends passed down about these mythical Pokemon, being one who is trained to one day face them in battle.

There was another immediate concern that took his attention though, one that everyone else seemed to be ignoring or have forgotten.

Cecil walked up to the dead body of the Mightyena, kneeling respectfully before it and closing its eyes.

The dark canines were relatively heavy Pokemon, but Smeargles were moreso and Cecil was a trained warrior. He picked up the Mightyena and made his way for the graveyard.

By the sounds of it this poor creature had been driven to do everything he had done through the dark powers of a legendary. He deserved a proper burial at least.

((We leave too many dead bodies lying around after every chapter, soooo >.> ))

Acer && Crescendo && Katara

Crescendo visibly relaxed when the darkness retreated and faded, and Acer promptly hopped off of his back onto the ground. The two were eager to get back to the Team Room and were more than happy to turn around and leave when something caught the edge of Crescendo's eye.

A little spot of light blue against the dark grass. He turned and slithered towards it, and Acer followed when he noticed.

They stopped by the Glaceon, the Milotic's eyes widening in shock. It was Zero. He was curled up into a small content ball, seemingly asleep. How did he get out here?

The two worked the Glaceon onto the Milotic's back and they quickly headed inside towards Team Absolute Indignation's room.

Katara flew back over a little while later when she had regained her composure only to find the battle over. Taking one final sweep over the area she left to return to her Team room.

Luna & Kaiyou & Lumon

In the heat of battle, Team Stormcloud had been... delayed.
Lumon twitched in the grasp of the Poochyena, his antennae caught between the fangs of the infuriated canine. The extremities were directly connected to vital parts of his brain, and the pain shooting up them was causing him more than a little amount of pain.
He was barely able not to thrash, whimpering as the Poochyena tightened its grip. "Pl-please..." He gasped, his fins flapping as he tried to pull more oxygen to his gills.
Luna and Kaiyou edged cautiously around the Poochyena, the former looking extremely irritated. 'He tricked us...' The Marowak thought silently, her brow furrowing. 'How could he have slowed his heart rate so drastically? He must have been trained for.... I don't even know how long... This is insane...'
She swallowed uncomfortably, trying to get in behind the Poochyena, and out of it's field of vision. She had to get in close and dispose of the Dark-type, and do so quickly. If she was too slow in killing him, Lumon would suffer the consequences. If she waited too long, he'd suffer further.
She clenched her teeth, staring hard at the Poochyena. She wasn't sure how to do this; it wasn't similar to anything she'd ever tried before.
"What's the meaning of this?" Kaiyou's voice was quiet and calm, almost soothing.
Luna and the Poochyena both looked sharply at the Marshtomp, confused by his sudden take on the situation. How could he be so relaxed?!
"What's so important that you won't let us walk away from a fight...? Why risk your life to take one of ours...?" He continued, questioning the Poochyena.
Luna could see the flash of irritation and anger in the Dark-type's eyes.
"I'm dying!" He spat through his teeth, not releasing Lumon's antennae. "You're leaving me to bleed out on the ground, to go and kill my family! How can I let you leave?!" He growled protectively, for he was certainly a he. His voice left no doubt in that.
What Luna did find confusing, however, was the Poochyena's response. "We left you alive on purpose; we don't want to kill. If anyone dies today, it's because they fought to the point where our comrades couldn't find a way to win another way." The Marowak took up Kaiyou's soothing tone, speaking slowly and smoothly. She never took her eyes off of the Poochyena.
Kaiyou didn't leave the silence to sink into the air for long. "Both sides came to battle knowing that we might lose... Don't think we don't know how it feels to lose loved ones... it's happened before... but killing someone else and yourself in revenge will only hurt... It's not going to bring you any kind of peace."
The Poochyena's jaws loosened visibly, and Lumon cautiously slipped free, floating low at the Poochyena's side.
He extended a fin, still trembling from the pain that throbbed in his head."If it makes a difference to you... your defeat took all three of us acting together. Alone, we would have been hard-pressed to bring you down."
A faint smirk tugged at the Poochyena's lips, a singe fang peeking out from underneath the corner of the Dark-type's crooked smile.
"Just wait 'til I've evolved. I'll come find you, someday. And I'll want a rematch when I do." He growled, nodding to them.
"We'll take you up on that offer." Kaiyou assured the Poochyena, watching the Dark-type leave.
Luna, however, was no longer watching their opponent.
"Uhhh.... guys? The rest of the guild is gone..." She told them in embarrassment. They'd spent the entire battle sweet-talking a defeated opponent...
Well f***.
Lumon groaned audibly, and Kaiyou facepalmed. "Aaaaaand Zori's gonna be pissed off..." The Marshtomp muttered with a scowl.
Lumon shook his head. "Unlikely. She's still with Doku, in the hospital."
They fell silent, none of the three speaking for several moments. The higher members of Team Schadenfreude were quite close to their team. As their captains were married, they had only strengthened the bonds between the two. If something happened to one team, the other would fight to assist, and grieve with them over the losses.
Kaiyou closed his eyes wearily. He hadn't seen Aryan in so long that it practically hurt. Maybe he would see him tomorrow...
"Let's just go home. I think we need to get some rest, tend to Lumon's injuries." Luna sighed quietly. "Kaiyou, fetch the rewards, please. We'll meet you back in the team room."
Kai nodded, watching his teammates leave.
Looking behind him, he sighed softly to himself. The faint glow of Lumon's damaged antennae slowly faded, and the Marshtomp stood alone in the darkness of night, thinking.

- Echo - - Zephyr -

[ ooc:// eep, just catching up. o. o sorry i was gone for the actual fighting during the chapter. i'm actually doing this from the library so yeah. i love open 24 hour libraries. C: ]

Echo was a bit startled by the presence of a large... snake thing by her, wondering if she was okay. Echo nodded calmly while getting up. It was so nice of people to care when others were hurt. Echo tried to remember the kind Pokemon in case it was ever hurt or something, and needed help. She would try to help, in that case.

After the battle was over, Zephyr eventually found Echo at the border of the fields, almost hugging the wall of the guild. The Scyther sighed. "Uh, I'm sorry for yelling at you and stuff, but you don't have to look so pathetic!" He shook his head, troubled by his partner. "Well, we're free to leave now, the battle's over if you couldn't tell. Get a move on." He beckoned the Treecko to move inside.

- ??? -

A little Vulpix followed behind Team Altitude, practically bursting with things she wanted to say to them. Her little stubby legs had finally caught up to the long strides of Zephyr and Echo, who was trying to keep up. "Heyyy! Heeyyyy!" Her voice was high and almost squeaky. Almost annoying, actually. She called to them as she was almost to them.

Echo turned around, but Zephyr kept walking. "She's not talking to us." He said, thinking himself correct. "Of course I'm talking to you! So shut your big head and listen! Which one of you is the leader of this team?" She asked from afar, tilting her head. Zephyr reluctantly pointed to Echo. He could've nominated himself and Echo wouldn't mind, but he didn't want to deal with this Pokemon.

She caught up to them eventually, and relaxed her head and took a few quick breaths. "I'm Gypsy, a Vulpix! If I were an Aerodactyl I'd be Gypsaur! Rawr! I know I don't look like a Vulpix but I am! Really! My mommy was a pretty Ninetails and my daddy was a Luxray but also a Jolteon, so that's why I look so cool! And you were really cool back there! I actually came here to get a partner to form a rescue team of my own because I just became old enough to leave home and come here, which I did! Mostly because my mommy is mean! And my daddy is somewhere faaaar away, exploring something cool! He's going to bring me back something really awesome from that cool place and--"

Zephyr silenced her with a scythe in front of her face and a shake of his head. "I don't care. Get on with the point you are trying to make before I punt you like a ball." Gypsy nodded quickly, and leaned forward, putting her weight on her front paws.

"I told you, I came here to make my own rescue team. But coming here, there was a battle and I ran away and hid behind grass. Then it got really dark and scary! I just really wanted to be paired up with a partner! I was afraid I would be stuck with a mean old lady instead of a cool person like you guys are! So that why I want to join your team instead of make my own! And you guys are going to let me!" The Vulpix smiled cutely, closing her eyes.

Echo nodded, a slight, almost unnoticeable smile on her lips. Anyone was welcome to the team. Zephyr's eyes grew wide! "No! I don't like her! I mean, we aren't experienced enough for a new member right now!" He said, waving his arms in a panic. He already had a headache from the Vulpix's voice.

"Haha! Too bad old man! The leader said yes, so you have to go along with it!" She smirked and blew a raspberry in his direction. Zephyr crossed his arms and turned away from the two girls. "Technically, she didn't say anything." He said in an annoying little brother tone. He grunted. "Fine. So be it. I'm off to the team room." He shook his head, now acting like a parent disappointed in their child, and headed off into the guild.

Gypsy frowned. "Well isn't he a little poopy-head!" She flicked her chin up. "Hmph! So... what's your name?" She asked, cocking her head to one side again. Echo blinked. "Echo." She said simply. "Aaaalrighty then. What about that other guy's?" "Zephyr." "Wow, you aren't much of a talker, are you? What about your team name?" "Team Altitude." Any more questions? "That's such a cool name! From now until a bajillion zillion years from now, I'm an official member of Team Altitude!"
