Sigal turned away, and finally said: "they won't be coming." There really was no good way to say something like this, and she could only be glad that she had done it in one of the gentlest ways possible. She wished that it hadn't been necessary, that...whatever had happened, hadn't. She really wished that she didn't have to ruin the happiness of those three with her news.
"Not ever?" Leefox asked, thinking she knew what Pink Mommy was trying to say and not liking it, not at all, not at all! She was beginning to tear up, because poor Nenakit's parents, her poor, poor, poor parents.

"Oh..." Ricky breathed, feeling herself tear and sniffle as well. But then Nenakit looked up at her, all concern because she could feel the change in mood, even if she couldn't understand it yet.
Ricky made herself offer the little baby a weak smile. "Okay," Ricky said, leaning down to nuzzle her. "What do we do now?"

Sigal just looked at the two girls a long moment, thinking. "What do you want to do with her?" she asked at last.
"We want to keep her! 'Cause we gotta 'cause she's got no...'cause she needs someone to keep an eye on her and we've already been doing that and you said that we were doing good--we are doing good, aren't we Pink Mommy?--and...and 'cause we'll be the bestest mommies ever--besides you and Blue Mommy--isn't that right, Kikifox!"

"That's right," Ricky agreed firmly, looking up between them. "We're gonna be the second bestest parents everest because 'cause Nenakit--'cause we /have/ to and 'cause she's so cute and who wouldn't want her and /some/body's gotta raise her so she doesn't get hurt or something growing up and we can do this, right? Right?"

"Yea! The best kithood in the whole entire history of ever!" Ricky echoed, thumping her tail happily, but she did pause for a moment. "Um, you will help us, right Pink Mommy? And Blue Mommy too? And Thea?"

"Of course we'll all help you," Sigal promised, leaning down to gently lick the little kit. Her grandkit. Another one of her grandkits, technically, and technically she did already have great-grandkits at that. But somehow it made her feel old all over again.
But she couldn't mind too much. Not with how happy Ricky and Lee were, and Nena (like all the rest of her and Ame's grandkits) was adorable.
"Yeeeeeey! Hey, hey, hey, Kikifox! When Nenakit gets big enough to travel far places, we need to go to Lunarie and tell sissy Thea that she's gonna be--that she is," Lee corrected herself "an aunt! Oh, and then that'd make Granddaddy Ari a great-grandpa too...Pink Mommy, would Granddaddy Ari want to see Nenakit?"
"Of course he would," Sigal promised.

"Yea!" Rickyfox squealed happily at the thought of telling Granddaddy Ari that he was a great-graddaddy now, because they had a kit! And she was the bestest little kit ever, because she was theirs.
"Thank you Pink Mommy in advance for helping us 'cause I think we'll really need it," Ricky giggled, smiling widely up at Pink Mommy. They were all going to make sure Nenafox was 100% happy all the time!

Leefox giggled, and (gently) placed a paw over Nenakit. "Oh, I've got you! Now what're you gonna do? You can't escape me!"
She was having so much fun playing with Nenakit. She couldn't believe her and Kikifox's luck to have found Nena's BCR.
Well actually, she still couldn't believe her luck to have Kikifox for a mate!

Nenakit giggled and squirmed under Mama's paw, trying to get away from her, but not really. In realtiy, she ended up turned over on her back with her little paws around Mama's big paw, hugigng it to her.
"Nu uh! I got you!" she squealed, giggling more as her tiny little claws extended in her excitement.
Ricky came back to her mate (which she still couldn't quite believe, let alone that they had a kit together--let alone that that kit was one as awesome as Nenakit), some meat wrapped in big Elephant Ear plants for both Leefox and Nenakit to eat, because one of them had to stay with the baby while the other one hunted, and this time it was Ricky's turn.
"Having fun, guys?"
"Yea, Mommy!" Nena giggled and stood up, squirming under her Mama's paw to sniff at the food. Cautiously, she nibbled at one, then made sputtering noises--all she had gotten was leaf!
"Ew!"

Leefox giggled. She lifted up her paw, so Nekit could get at the food more easily. "You need to unwrap it. Mommy just put it in the leaf so she can carry it, you see?" Leefox took a corner of the leaf in her mouth and peeled it back, so that the meat was revealed.
"There, now you can eat all the lunch you like!"

Ooh, lunch! Nenakit giggled and attacked the contents of the leaf, pretty much diving face first into the food. She got all icky, but she didn't mind, because it was so good!
"Rawr, I got you food!" Nenakit giggled, munching happily on her lunch. "Thank you Mommy~"
"You're welcome, baby," Ricky said with a smile, leaning down and carefully nuzzling the top of her daughter's head. It hardly really bothered her any more, the fact that Nena wasn't her real daughter, because she might as well be. Sometimes, Ricky even fancied that Nena was starting to look like her.
"Hi, Leefox," Ricky greeted, nuzzling her mate in turn. "There should be enough for us, too," Ricky said with a goodnatured roll of her eyes--Nenakit had been doing a lot of growing lately!

Leefox giggled, and licked Kikifox. "Maybe there won't be, if Nenakit eats it all. Are you going to eat it all, Nenakit?" Leefox asked, teasing her--their daughter. She couldn't believe they had a kid, but she was so happy, so glad they had found her.
Even if when she really stopped to think about it, Leefox wished they had found Nenakit in a happier way.

"No, silly Mama!" Nena said with a laugh, shaking her head. She wouldn't eat it allllll, that would be rude! To that end, she nudged some of the food over to Mama so she could eat too.
"There, Mama!~ Sorry!"
"That was very sweet of you, dear," Ricky told her daughter, smiling faintly. "Thank you."

Leefox smiled at Nenakit--she was so glad the girl knew about sharing already. Well Leefox had always known about sharing, but that was because she had grown up with all of her siblings, but Nenakit was an only child.
Which was kinda sad. Leefox couldn't imagine life without them.
"We should give Nenakit brothers and sisters sometime," Leefox whispered to Kikifox.
