The look he gave the elder quite clearly spoke his thoughts on "belonging" in the middle of the desert. But...he wouldn't turn down the invitation just yet. No need to anger the semi-tribe whose land he was using. And really, he felt somewhat better now that the elder had struck his claim to the land. Now that things were going according to rules he understood. And still further, if he were to join, the green vixen would owe him, had sad as much herself. True, he didn't think he could gain much by having her in his debt, but he wasn't so foolish or hasty as to write that off yet.

Conundrum simply smiled to himself at the look, nodding his head once again--the fact that Sir hadn't instantly shouted down his invitation gave Conundrum a little bit of cautious optimism about getting Sir to stay.
"Er, one more thing, Sir...what is your name? I don't imagine you want us all calling you Sir for the next...however long you stay?" Conny wondered aloud, head tilting to one side. He had to admit that it felt kind of...nice to use the word 'us' instead of the word 'I'. In all honesty, he liked being one of many, having other foxes around him with which to converse and make merry. He missed that almost most of all from Enigma...the most simply being Nero.
But Conundrum shook those thoughts away quickly, willing himself not to get depressed in front of Ate and Helios and Sir--it would do no good for them (well, Ate, at least) to see their maybe-Elder like that, would it?
There you go, Con, Conny encouraged himself. You do know how to do this.
Furii yawned as she wandered lazily through the desert, the sand stinging her eyes. But she was used to this by now--the desert had become her home when her feeble attempt at starting a tribe had failed. But she was past that now, and glad to be: it gave her time to think, relax and enjoy life.
She was happy. And thirsty, now that she thought about it. Raising her tan nose to the air, Furii sniffed for a few moments, then nodded to herself--she thought she'd recalled water this way before. Soon, she found the little Oasis and heard the water, making her way to it, only pausing briefly when she noticed a collection of foxes gathered around the spring. Had she missed the memo for the 'Let's Wander Around the Desert' Convention?
Shaking her head to clear it, Furii slipped past the big black Modiphim to get to the water, generally ignoring the other foxes. A female and three males...perhaps they were some form of pack or something? Furii was positive she would've heard about a Tribe in her own desert...
"What's going on?" Furii asked lazily after she'd drunk her fill.

Ate grinned up at Conundrum.
"Solarus and Miraja, hm?" She blinked, contemplating, and then settled on a soft and much shier, "They must be good gods."
She had turned her head to look at Sir and watch him - her face was contorted in a mini-pout of sorts, though she wasn't fully aware of it. Oh yes, Ate was feeling much better - so much so that when the new vixen appeared to drink of the oasis, she managed to restrain jumping into the air or hiding, and instead approached the female, sitting somewhere near her -- again falling into her habit of not comprehending the conception of personal space.
There was nothing more than this, however, which was perhaps a bit odd for Ate, but she was restraining herself - the only contact between the two was the anxious flicking of her tail back and forth.
She smiled kindly at the vixen. "Hi, I'm Ate... And that's Conundrum and.." Unsure on whether or not she should introduce the other two, she continued anyway. "And that's Helios and ... Sir."
Her smile grew a bit wider as she watched her. "And... And we're - well, Conundrum and I, anyway - are thinking of-of starting a tribe at the oasis...
"Do you live in this desert?"

"Miraja is a goddess." Conundrum corrected reflexively, but then paused and shook his head--wondering when exactly he'd gone from believing he was crazy to believing in these deities. Guh...
...But he couldn't go back on his word to try and make a Tribe now, not when Ate was looking so happy, damn her.
And then Conny noticed who she was talking to and tilted his head slightly to better hear the other vixen's answer.
"Well, yes, I do live here," Furii said, raising an eyebrow slightly at the green vixen's sudden proximity. "Good luck with the tribe: I tried to start one here many moons ago." Furii said with a roll of her eyes, though she was secretly a little bit pleased that her desert had a bit more life in it now.
"It's nice to meet you, Ate, Conundrum, Helios and..." Furii wrinkled her nose slightly--had she heard the name right? "Sir?" But the green vixen, Ate, had already moved on.
"Er, why do you want to know...?" Furii asked cautiously as an afterthought to Ate's last question.

Ate turned her head slightly and pouted a bit at Conundrum, "Oh, I know, it was just that since there are two, I picked the more masculine one and went with it, so that it would apply to both, but I guess it might have been disrespectful - she is a goddess."
She then blinked back at Furii, brain processing what she'd been told - the last tribe attempt had failed? It might have been enough to bring a fox down if she hadn't been so intent on this working that there was no room left to believe or even acknowledge that this tribe would fail.
"Might I ask what happened? Simply no one around in the desert?" She flicked her tail anxiously, intently watching the other's eyes and wondering what had been the cause of that eye roll.
"And yes, Sir - that's what we call him anyway, maybe he'll deign to give /you/ his name, I don't know." It seemed as though Ate was more than willing to continue talking, as she always did when nervous or anxious - and she was both, plenty of both.
"And I was just curious as to if you knew this desert well - I guess the question /was/ a little rude, since you don't owe me anything or even know who I am, but I want to learn this desert better and who better to learn it from than someone who lives here?"
As always, there was a pause, then quietly, "Sorry. A little nervous."
Her deep purple eyes skittered around before settling on the other vixen's black ones. "I talk too much, I know."

Furii turned to watch the young girl, a small smile playing on her face as she rambled on--in truth, Furii was trying not to laugh, but she didn't show that.
"It's alright," Furii said obligingly with an easy shrug. "Yes, I do know this desert well, very well. I have lived here most of my life. I do not know why the Tribe failed, it simply did," Furii said with another shrug, over it by now.
"I do hope your attempt will be more successful, though."
Conundrum just shrugged as she corrected herself, most irritated with himself--for someone who didn't even believe in them, he had sure felt bothered when she ignored one of them.
Shaking his head to clear it, Conny went back over to Helios and sat down after a moment or two, content with the silence for a little while.
"I'm sorry about Ate. She is apparently...overzealous about some things..." Conny murmured to him, chuckling softly. "Please, do not feel pressured by what she said. You have no need to stay here if you do not desire."

Sandy-colored paws padded carefully through the hot desert sands, with no real aim in sight. This was how the vixen had lived for as long as she could remember, only having visited forested areas a couple of times in her life. She liked the desert. Certainly, it was hot, dry, and deceivingly empty, but it suited her. She blended in well here and had long ago learned how to survive the rugged terrain. The occasional oasis was nice, but not always entirely necessary. Speaking of oasis...
Wow, it has been a while since I have seen so many others gathered in one place, Suna thought to herself, pale green eyes surveying from afar what appeared to be a tribe (there was an elder there after all). It amused her to find that she actually recognized one of the group members as her previous 'almost' tribe leader. Hm, might as well join the party, she thought to herself, padding casually over their way. Once close enough, she gave a polite bow to Furii and Conundrum. "Greetings, Furii, Elder," she said. "I do hope that I'm not intruding. May I pause for a drink?" The desert vixen had heard rumor before that some tribes were quite territorial of their land, so she thought it best to ask before simply stepping in and taking for herself. Water was a precious commodity in the desert after all.

Conundrum raised an eyebrow as yet another appeared on the scene--had someone sent out a beacon? Then Conny realized he'd been zoning out, so he quickly blinked back into reality.
"Feel free to drink as much as you want," Conundrum said mechanically, smiling a little bit. "And stay for as long as you need, as well, especially if you know our new friend here," Conundrum said with a small chuckle.
"I am Conundrum, and this is Ate, you know Furii...Sir and Helios," With a little bit of surprise, Conundrum realized that if everyone were to stay...
Shaking his head away from that thought, Conundrum reminded himself that mostly likely everyone but Ate would be moving on as soon as possible from their little Oasis.
Furii raised an eyebrow in delicate surprise as Suna (she never forgot a fox) came onto the scene, offering her a pleasant smile in return; she was glad to see the other vixen was doing alright.
"Greetings, Suna," Furii returned, bowing her head back--Suna owed her no respect, not really, besides in the way that all foxes owed all others respect. Furii's ears twitched when she heard Conundrum refer to her as a friend--she barely knew this large, puzzled fox.
"Mm, yes, we know eachother," Furii answered noncommittally; calling a practically perfect stranger a friend could perhaps be misinterpreted as...weakness. Eying the Elder again, Furii rationalized that perhaps he just did not want any enemies in his fledgling Tribe, if that was indeed what this would be.

Xiaoshi took a deep breath and looked around. She had been trying to find a place to settle down and just hadn't found the right place. So she had taken up to just wondering around hoping eventually something would feel like home. However in her current meanderings she had some how gotten lost. With a frown she looked around wondering when the forest had turned into a desert. well it didn't matter as long as she remained amused.
Looking over to the left Xiaoshi came face to face with a bunch of buzzards swarming down to land on a skeleton. With a sigh she shook her head. 'well isnt that a pleasant sight.' Xiaoshi thought and after clearing her head continued further into the desert. It wasnt like she had never had been been to a desert before. She had quite liked the last quick visit. The sun beating down on her fur and watching the heat rise up from the sand was one of the things she found amusing. Of course the dry mouth and thirst weren't too enjoyable. She figured she had probably been out here awhile.
After searching a few more minutes Xiaoshi walked over a sand dune to find a little oasis with a grouping of foxes gathered around. 'wonder if its one of those tribe things I've heard about'. Carefully she made her way down not knowing the nature of the foxes gathered. Perhaps they were of a nice sort and would allow her to get some water.

"Thank you. It is a pleasure to meet everyone," Suna replied, pausing briefly to take a drink. The water was quite refreshing as it slid down her all-too-dry throat. The sandy vixen looked back up at Furii and the one called Conundrum with a pleasant smile. "So, do I sense the beginnings of another tribe perhaps?" she asked, casting green eyes about the oddly assembled group. Catching site of yet another new vixen not too far off, Suna gave her a small smile as well and nodded her over. "It seems that foxes are being drawn together here."

Rei hadn't known why she had went this way at all. Normally she stayed toward the wilderness but something about this desert made her want to enter it. She didn't know if it was because she had a death wish or if she would finally find a stable home. A sigh escaped her as she started walking into the desert. It didn't take long for Rei's untrained body to start to feel the burn over individual portions of her fur where it was darkest. She couldn't help but feel it and kept moving toward what she thought was the center of it. Her mind drifted from different things from her sons to her brother back to how much of an idiot she was. She kept exploring though ignoring the head. Finally crossing over a dune she started to taste water in her mouth and figured she was delusional. Finally looking to the side she found herself staring into an Oasis and feeling a gift from a higher power she walked toward it finding a pool of water she dranked from it carefully. She knew drinking to much would get her very sick in this heat. As she looked around she noticed other foxes in the area. But stayed by the pool of water enjoying it's coolness.

Unia couldn't continue on anymore, her body was weak and felt drained. The hot sun bore upon her, eating away at her body and destroying the little energy she had anymore. Faint blurs flashed in the corner of her eyes, and she ignored them. She could hear the spirits speak to her, hear how they laughed at her stupidity. Why was she here anyway? Oh, right, she had taken it upon herself to try and take a self discovering journey of sorts. She really should have stayed home.
She had wanted to enter here, she remembered that. Something compelled her. However now she wasn't so amused. Her ability to cast small magic was useless when she was tired, and right now she was ready to collapse. She really should have brought a waterleaf with her, then again the desert hadn't looked so intimidating at first.
Her body shuddered, legs soon to give out. She was great with medicine, so why had she been stupid enough to not bring some? Her body jerked as she stepped, ears lowered and tail dragging in the ground. She couldn't anymore, she was lost, so hopelessly lost. To tired to summon anything to show her the way, to weak to see straight. Her body collapsed under her, leaving her to lie there in the sun that would have sunned her nicely had it not been bearing down on her all day.

Since she was still a little ways from the oasis Xiaoshi could have sworn she heard something like a thump. Perhaps some poor animal giving into the heat. She would help it out but before she ventured out into the desert again for any reason she would need water. So Xiaoshi hesitantly moved forward at the sandy colored ones nod. They seemed friendly enough she could probably get some water. With a small smile of amusement she agreed with the same Vixens statement of how foxes seem to be drawn here as another one appeared and walked towards the pool to take a drink of water reminding Xiaoshi of her own water needs. As she walked up to the small body of water she quickly looked over all the foxes there.

Helios had a bad habit of zoning out.
Today was no exception. The brightly colored Modiphim looked around to see many more new faces than had been there when he first arrrived at the Oasis--and all of them female. But before he could open his mouth to make more greetings or comment on the staggered ratio of males to females, Helios' ears caught the sound of a heavy thump outside of the shelter of the trees.
"Someone is out there," he murmured to Conundrum. Instinct told him the sound had been caused by a fallen fox, and not by another desert dweller. The powerful winged fox stood from the spot where he'd been lost in thought for...however long it had been...and stretched out the muscles of his wings and back before moving away from the group to take flight. It wasn't in his nature to leave a fellow fox stranded.
Spotting the gray and black vixen rather quickly, Helios touched down next to her and gently nudged the female with his nose. "Miss?" he asked quietly. "I can help you, if you'll let me."
