DEAR JOURNAL I Y ' A M F A R I S Dear Book-thingy!
AUGH. WOOF IS SUCH A PAIN.
He's luckies that he is my brother or else...I'd...
...I'd...
Crush him into bits!
He's such a jerk! He took my game-thingy and he wouldn't give it back to me for a while but he did give it back I guess but he still didn't give it backs for a while and it was so...AN'OYING. It's like he does it on purpose and ... he probably does...Which makes it wurse. Stupid brother.
Mama says it's just the way he is when I asked her to make him stop doing all of that stuff that he does. Like wanderin' off with my stuff. I guess she's just happy I didn't go runnin' to her right away and that Woof and I didn't start fightin' real bad.
...Urgh. SO STUPIDS.
Going to go practice for my next leson! Maybe that'll make me feels better.

FLOWERS FROM A FRIEND F O R M E S ? ! Faris was elbow deep in dishwater scrubbing at a particular stubborn bit of dried on breading that was left off to the side for whatever reason that the Gargoyle could not even begin to comprehend when a knock came at the delivery door. Her shoulders slumped slightly as she gazed over to it and then she glanced behind her at the nearest cook.
"Cans you gets that Jean? Pleases?" Faris pleaded as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other.
"No can do, I'm busy," Jean replied as she continued to lean on the counter and stare at the timer.
Faris frowned disapprovingly and replied, "Uh-uh! You're bein' stupids and should answer the door. I is washin' tha dishes!" the Gargoyle snapped at the cook but they ignored her. She growled and pulled her hands out of the washer and haphazardly wiped them dry on her apron as the delivery person knocked again. The Gargoyle pulled open the door and stared questioningly at the woman who was holding a bouquet of flowers.
"These flowers were to be delivered to a...Faris...? This is the Blue Moose right?" The woman asked curiously. The girl looked like the person she was to deliver it to same size and everything.
Faris stared and nodded a bit, "Yisyis. I y'am Faris, and this is ze Blue Moose," she confirmed as her tail twitched side to side.
"Well these are for you then!" the woman smiled and handed over the flowers which Faris took with eyes wide in awe.
"Thank yous!" Faris said unsure what to do now.
The woman nodded and grinned, "Not a problem," and then turned and left. The powers were paid for and delivered her job here was done!
Faris blinked and stared at the flowers as she closed the door. She never got flowers before and it happened to be just then that her Mother wandered into the kitchen and stared at her daughter questioningly.
"What's that lass?" Luis asked with a small smile as she moved closer to her. "Seems ye got yerself a note there," the Satyress offered helpfully as she gently tugged the note free from the back of the bouquet and offered it so her daughter can read it herself.
The Gargoyle mouthed the words as she read it before she suddenly squealed and almost hugged the flowers to her chest, "THEY ARE FROM EVARI," she crowed happily as she hopped a little. These were the best gifts ever and so pretty and she wanted to keep them forever and ever and never let them go away or die. Luis simply watched and chuckled before she waved for her daughter to follow her.
"C'mon love, let's get these in a vase. Later I'll teach ye how to preserve them for a good long time," Luis just knew how her daughter worked now that the Gargoyle knew who the flowers were from. There was no way Faris would let them go. Faris followed her happily squealing all the while and chattering about how wonderful her 'Vari was.

Growth Prompt
Faris is growing up beautifully, even if she is...rather oblivious to certain things. Hopefully that oblivious nature doesn't stretch out everywhere, as something evil has decided to lurk upon the Dalziel household! Their luck changes, things go missing or moved...and whats more, after a while it actually started to talk to them! A real Poltergeist, that. But wait...isn't Faris a Gargoyle? Shouldn't she be able to ward this spirit off? How does she do it, and what does it take for her to finally snap on this unseen creature?

POLTERGEIST (PART 1) I N V A S I O N The Poltergeist came in latched to some poor customer's back as they came into the Blue Moose for a drink after a string of supposed rotten luck. The Poltergeist had grown bored of this person and now wanted fresh meat, and thus seeing the Satyress as she worked so hard to maintain the order amongst the chaos. It decided that this place would serve well as its new target and slid away from the old target and began to explore every nook and cranny of the tavern and the upstairs apartment. The Poltergeist came across a couple of children and a young stone skinned girl who was watching over them and grinned from its unseen spot.
This girl couldn't see it at least not right now; she likely never would be able to.
Faris was unaware though a shiver did go down her spine for some odd reason. For some reason she felt suddenly unhappy especially after the unusual chill she felt. She looked around from the coloring book she was coloring with Robin while Wolfram read on the couch and furrowed her brow, "Critter? You doin' somethin' stupids again?"
No answer.
Maybe it was just her imagination. She sighed softly and continued back on the coloring page. Wolfram and Robin exchanged curious looks. They weren't sensitive at all to whatever it was that their sister sensed just now if anything. Maybe she was just being paranoid again, which she sometimes was. Robin also went back to coloring and Wolfram went back to reading, the boys dismissing their sister's odd behavior as just another one of those weird things that Faris did. Not that either of them had any right to judge her at all.
The Poltergeist grinned crookedly and settled in and began to plot for a long moment. How should it announce its presence? The spirit's eyes wandered around the room before it caught sight of the radio and floated over toward it and flicked it on after it made sure that the volume was as high as it could go. Heeey heeeey heeeeey
Your lipstick stains on the front lobe of my left side brains I knew I wouldn't forget you And so I went and let you blow my mind Your sweet moonbeam The smell of you in every single dream I dream I knew when we collided you're the one I have decided Who's one of my kind All three uttered shocked sounds and stared at the very loud radio until Faris stood up and scuttled over to turn it off. Hey soul sister, ain't that mister mister on the radio, stereo The way you move ain't fair you kn--click-- "That nevers happened before," Faris murmured breathlessly and a hand on her chest as she looked to her brothers. "Let's go play outsides now." Her brothers nodded hastily and followed their sister outside while the Poltergeist cackled softly to itself. Oh it was so fun to have someone to play with!

POLTERGEIST (PART 2) E S C A L A T I O N Over the past few days things had been going rather wrong. Things had disappeared, Faris kept feeling uneasy and even downright anxious as she sensed something was amiss, and sometimes even Critter would babble incoherently in a somewhat frightened tone and hug his umbrella close to his chest. Muttering something about how the umbrella started dancing all on its own. Luis was having problems of her own customers would start fights over who bumped into whom and get indignant when the supposed offending party wouldn't apologize. In the kitchen ingredients would get misplaced or just disappeared all together only to reappear moments later in the most improbable places and it was starting to make the Satyress very, very annoyed.
Sometimes Robin would find his toys gone, or his juice would fling itself out of his hands and into a wall nearby, which made him panic and thus cry because that isn't what he wanted and damn it that was his juice he didn't tell it to do that! If Faris hadn't told Luis that it wasn't Robin's fault the Satyress would have scolded the boy, instead she went about cleaning up the mess while Faris made the boy a new cup of juice. Normally when things disappeared Wolfram was blamed but he was, usually, very much innocent during the most recent sprees of disappearances.
Faris was in her room pacing as she tried to puzzle out these recent happenings when her journal flipped open and her pen stood up and started to scribble on a page.
Having fun little girl?
The hair on the back of the Gargoyle's neck stood up as she edged closer and read it. Her brow furrowed a bit, "Not really, Book. Whys you writin' in yourselfs?"
I want to. By the way...Notice something of yours missing in this room?
The Poltergeist had grown bored of waiting for the girl to notice its recent mischief. He watched as Faris stared uncomprehendingly at the page as it filled with strange crooked letterings.
Faris stared around at a loss everything was in its place and everything was in order except...The vase of flowers she got from Evari and the DS that usually rested near it was also gone. The confused look went to an angry one as she faced the book, "You puts it back! You puts it back right now!"
No. You gotta find them.
She stamped her foot down on the ground, "I y'am not playing your games! You puts them back or else."
No.
Then the book slammed closed and the entity that she was arguing with faded away elsewhere. Faris let out a highly annoyed growl as she ruffled at her shaggy hair. Her tail swished back and forth in agitation. What would she do? She needed to take care of this...This thing. Get rid of it and get it away from herself and from her family. There was a sudden outcry from the kitchen and Faris ran toward the source and found a butcher knife sticking into the wall right next to her mother's now very pale face.
...Oh it's on now. It was definitely on now.

POLTERGEIST (PART 3) E V I C T I O N It had turned into a game of cat and mouse and the mouse had seemingly stepped up its game as it was now flinging potentially harmful objects at her family as if to further make her angry and frighten them as well. Faris didn't agree with any of this as she talked about the homestead trying to corner it so she can deal with it herself. Each time she thought she had it cornered it would fade off and with some rather disturbing laughter which instead of scaring her off just made her angrier and more determined to get it cornered and grab it or try to. If anyone was scared out of this whole equation it was the Poltergeist he had underestimated this girl and her anger, while it normally fed off of that kind of negative emotion, was actually poisonous to it somehow. The more emotion she directed toward it the weaker it started to feel.
The spirit had hoped that threatening her family would call her off and bend her to its will but it just kept making things worse.
She wasn't able to see it but she could sort of sense it in a way the same she could always sense it. Faris eventually cornered it outside in the corner of the vegetable garden her mother kept and crouched where it cowered weakly in the corner. She stared with her tail lashing and a frown upon her lips, "Done runnin'?" Faris challenged with a sneer.
Just go away.
"I y'am not dones with you. Whys are you doin' all this?" Faris asked forcefully and she felt the spirit flinch at her voice.
Was bored.
Faris uttered a small snarl, "SO YOU HURTS PEOPLE? BAD!" she lashed out and felt her hand connect to something and a yelp came from the corner she faced, "Say you're sorries."
No.
The Gargoyle glared and her green eyes seemed to give off a faint glow but it was the way the moonlight hit her eyes when her head turned to stare more fiercely at the target she could not see, "Say you're sorries and tell me where you puts my game and my f'owers."
O..Okay I'm sorry ... I put your contraption in the pantry and your flowers are under the dinner table.
Faris gave a satisfied snort and edged closer, "You wills go away, and you wills be good. You wills never come back heres or I will eats you up. You tells your friends that is what I y'am gonna do if I catch 'em here. Cause I y'am not playin' yer games. Y'don' play fairs." The Gargoyle 'puffed' up a bit to seem more intimidating and for a long moment it seemed as if the Poltergeist wouldn't flee and like it would doubt her words. She leaned closer until she felt her face press against what felt like a part of a hand and chomped down at it.
The result of her actions was a yelp and suddenly the spirit was gone with a soft fading voice going...
OKOKOKOKOK NOMORE PLEASE DO NOT EAT ME.
Faris nodded firmly and stood up as she dusted off her hand and went inside. Slowly she found her things and recollected them and put them back in her room where they belonged, at least until Wolfram decided to make off with something of hers, but that she could deal with. He didn't do dangerous things to her family and he always gave things back when she asked for them back although reluctantly.
She found her mother sitting on the couch and she moved to sit next to her guardian and rested her head against the Satyress' lap after she made some adjustments for her wings, "I made it go aways. No more bads thing will happens."
Luis was reading at the time but was willing to set her book aside and play with her daughter's growing hair. She blinked at the Gargoyle's words, "That so m'darlin'?"
"Mhm!" Faris grinned sleepily as she stared into the air in front of her feeling reassured by her mother's touch, "it was bad spirit. I made it goes 'way." The Gargoyle mumbled and closed her eyes.
"That's m'girl," Luis praised quietly as she ran her finger tips over her daughter's cheek, "I'll make yer favorite dinner tomorrow, followed by dessert, sound good?"
The Gargoyle giggled sleepily and uttered a small drowsy, "Yis!" and fell asleep. Luis continued to pet Faris' hair for a moment longer before she took up her book once more and resumed reading as she let out a deep sigh. The Satyress was suddenly very glad that her daughter was around especially for instances like these.

GAINING MORE THAN HEIGHT U N W E L C O M E G R O W T H S ? ! The growth had happened the same way the prior growth had began, Faris was a bit off, tired, grumpy and eventually it ended up with the girl lying down in her own bed this time to fall asleep and once more turn to stone. This time Luis was much more prepared and thus she wandered in and got some clothes that she thought might fit the girl when the growth completed and gently leaned to kiss the figure's forehead where it laid on the bed.
It was a bit mystifying that each time Faris seemed to grow that she seemed to cocoon herself in stone and then pretty much sleep it off but Luis simply decided to just let it be. It wasn't like she could change the nature of how her daughter worked or did things; it would be odd to suddenly be able to control such a thing, ever. Luis left her sweet little tomboy to her stone-encased slumber and went to retire to her own room and to wait.
The morning start off quietly enough with feeding the boys their breakfast and chattering quietly with Wolfram about some outlandish tale he was spinning about he had 'honestly' acquired some of his more recent additions to his treasure trove of things that he had creatively liberated from the undeserving hands of their prior owner. Luis reached over to tap Robin on the nose to stop him from cramming something greedily into his mouth for which she got a glare. The toddler couldn't help his outlandish desire to cram things in his mouth.
"Stohp-ed," the toddler sassed at his guardian and Luis only smirked at him.
She was about to go check on Faris when the scream that came from Faris' room answered the Satyress' question as to whether or not she was awake by now. Luis told Wolfram to stay and keep an eye on his brother while she hurried to the bedroom where she saw her daughter naked and looking dismayed in a full length mirror that was kept in the closet. A mirror that Faris generally ignored until today. Faris' hands covered her chest as she blushed, "Nonononono! Does not want. Go away," she whined as she danced in place, her now fur-tipped tail swishing in agitation.
Luis wandered closer to her daughter and frowned, "But sweetheart t's the natural way of things, you're turning into a young woman," she tried to explain when her daughter turned to stare at her with wide upset teary eyes.
"I'mnotready," she whined softly as she shifted in place trying to press the offending bits back into her body, "I'm nots a girl. Nonono," she cried out a couple of tears dripping from her eyes. "I don't wants to get kidnapped and hurts and be weak."
The Satyress moved quickly to her daughter and wrapped her arms around her in a manner that pinned the girl's arms down before some sort of damage was wrought. She quietly murmured comforting tones in an odd language that Faris didn't recognize so it caught her attention and calmed down softly whimpering. Luis wasn't sure how to help her daughter or to bring her out of this way of thinking she seemed to have gotten and somehow her maternal intuition told her that her daughter wouldn't listen to her just yet so perhaps she should leave it to her friends. Still she had to say something, "Faris, honey, y'aren't weak. Yer just as strong as ya used to be, hell yer even stronger than before cause ya got a bigger stronger form now. Y'never will be a damsel because I brought y'up with the smarts t'think for yourself," she murmured softly as she leaned and kissed the girl on the cheek. "Calm down honey. I know t's a lot for you to take in right now but so many people'd be upset if you hurt ya'self wi' yer panickin'."
Faris nodded as she hiccupped, feeling a bit odd and out of place in her body right now. She pushed away from her mother who willingly let her go and then moved to help her daughter get dressed. Luis felt somewhat proud of herself for having the foresight of arranging for a bra though it wouldn't fit exactly. She gently taught her daughter how to place it on.
"Still don't wan' 'em," The Gargoyle murmured somewhat bitterly.
Luis chuckled softly as she finished helping, "Y'will sooner or later. They're not anythin' bad. Ye'll figure out how to work around 'em soon enough."
Faris sniffed a bit and nodded but resolved to privately do something about it later or at least try to. Despite what her mother said she wouldn't have to live with them if she didn't want to. She'd be the master of her own body if she could just find a way. She shifted a bit as she finished getting dressed and heard her stomach gurgle rather loudly.
The Satyress laughed and took her daughter's hand and led her out to the kitchen. Wolfram let out a congratulatory sound at his sister's growth and Robin just stared at his sister as if contemplating the possibility of further mischief he could now get into now that he had gotten a larger 'minion' to work for him and protect him. Luis fixed whatever her daughter wanted for breakfast before they would begin for the day.
"Think now yer big enough to take on more duties in the tavern," Luis offered hoping to cheer up the rather morose Gargoyle as she ate.
Faris sat up a bit looking a bit happier, "R..Reallies?"
The older woman nodded and smiled, "Yes, finish your breakfast and we'll talk about it before we begin opening."
She ate much faster and more happily now. Yay! More things to do.
