Herry Rockabore kingofjokers7 ~ContessaLeandra~ Barn Lord Luna Lumine I notice no-one picked Zeus on the poll. Probably because he's a hypocrite and a whore. But y'know, it's probably pretty tough to rule the world. So many people with problems you have to solve. And Poseidon is the diety representing water, which humans are pretty much made up of and cannot survive without. Regardless, I vote Hades. He's one of very few honest Greek dieties. Hades is not honest. My point would be that he KIDNAPPED and married his niece, and Persephone is not happy to be there at all. And contrary to popular belief, he did actually cheat on his wife with some nymphs, I believe. So I agree.
But did he lie about kidnapping Persephone? I'm pretty sure he made a deal with Demeter so at least one god is happy all the time. And about the cheating, you don't hate Zues for it, you don't hate Aphrodite for it, and when you live as long as the gods, you get bored very easily. The point is that people sometimes pretty much call Hades a sweet, innocent, little angel saint when he was clearly not perfect and did naughty stuff just like Zeus. While he didn't lie about stealing Persephone, he didn't let Demeter know that he kidnapped her. He probably wouldn't have ever let Demeter know if Zeus hadn't convinced him to reason with Demeter since she refused to usher in vegetation. And even then he didn't exactly play fair he tricked Persephone into staying with him by getting her to eat the seeds. Not exactly my definition of honest, but it does make for a captivating story. And also often the cheating is the one thing that makes people dislike Zeus and Aphrodite, which kind of annoys me. If you ask me their promiscuity is due to 2 things 1. They both have unhappy marriages and 2. They clearly have the highest sex drives of the deities. While that really is not an excuse for cheating, they couldn't get a divorce because Hera had the Queen title and Aphrodite was stuck with Hephaestus since it was arranged that way. Besides I am sort of willing to excuse the behavior because if not for how they acted we wouldn't be able to function without Eros, Persephone, Artemis, Apollo, Hermes, etc. I dunno about how Aphrodite felt about her lovers besides Ares and Adonis, but I think Zeus actually showed he cared about the women he seduced since he tried to protect them from Hera and he did the right thing when Semele was struck dead due to the oath she forced him to make that made him reveal his god form to her, leaving him to put Dionysus in his thigh. I think that that shows me he isn't ALL bad. He isn't all good either but he's not heartless like some people paint him as. About Hades: Right on. I'm not sure if this is accurate but it was Zeus who accepted Hades' permission to take Persephone away since he IS her father - convincing Demeter is scary. So it was through trickery that he got what he wanted. I can understand that he's usually a strict but fair god with tedious tasks - so it's possible that he couldn't stand losing her although he can be greedy at times (No offense, Hades). About Zeus & Aphrodite: Even if I don't like the idea of cheating, I sorta do felt sorry for them. At least, Zeus can put a stop to conflicts or something like that while Aphrodite can be sympathetic (Pygmalion) and... makes things interesting, I guess. ^^;

Consider the way the Greek universe works. Lust and love are governed by Eros, the winged god of desire. Zeus' many illicit affairs could be chalked up to his nephew being mischievous and picking on his uncle.

Mira Rosey That makes sense. I thought only mortals are part of his tricks. :u Seneca, Phaedra: "This winged god rules ruthlessly throughout the earth and inflames Zeus himself, wounded with unquenched fires. Ares, the warrior god, has felt those flames; that god has felt them who fashions the three-forked thunderbolts, yea, he who tends the hot furnaces ever raging ‘neath Aetna’s peaks is inflamed by so mall a fire as this. Nay, Phoebus, himself, who guides with sure aim his arrows from the bowstring, a boy of more sure aim pierces with his flying shaft, and flits about, baneful alike to heaven and to earth." Nonnus, Dionysiaca: "Enchanted by Semele, Zeus received the sweet maddening spark in a heart which new it well. Allfather was worsted by a child: little Eros with his feeble shot set afire this Archer of Thunderbolts. Not the deluge of the flood, not the fiery lightning could help its possessor: that huge heavenly flame itself was vanquished by the small fire of unwarlike Paphia; little Eros faced the shaggy skin, his magical girdle faced the aegis; the heavy-booming din of the thunderclap was the slave of his lovebreeding quiver. The god was shaken by the heartbewitching sting of desire for Semele, in amazement: for love is near neightbour to admiration."

I almost forgot - It's hard to choose since I became aware of their roles. But personally I picked Hades because he had to deal with the dead 24/7 with an assembled teams of workers. My second choice - Poseidon because of the wonders of the sea and he's feared with tsunamis and earthquakes.

My second choice - Poseidon because of the wonders of the sea and he's feared with tsunamis and earthquakes. Funnily enough, Poseidon wasn't even responsible for most of the sea's wonders and dangers. That was the territory of other sea gods. Thaumas was the god of sea wonders, and his daughters were the rainbow goddesses Iris and Arke, as well as the harpies, Aello and Okypete. Phorkys and Keto were the god and goddess of sea dangers, and their children were the monsters of the sea; Skylla, Thoosa, Ekhidna, the Gorgons and the Graiai. There was also Nereus, the old man of the sea whose twenty daughters were the Nereides (Mermaids), and Proteus, the shapeshifting god of herding seals.

This time, Zeus' surprisingly in second now and sadly Poseidon's last.
