Lin had no idea that Dymetri hadn't fed in awhile. How could she know that? She needed to know how to be able to tell when he hadn't fed in awhile. She needed to know so she would never tempt him like that when he was... hungry. So she wanted to ask him how she could know when he was in that state.
But then, she felt him tense and heard what he said. She pulled back to look at his face with concern. "Dymetri? What is it? What is wrong?"

Cook nodded, and led Alec to the shack and into the kitchen, where the dogs surrounded Alec as Cook went to the stove. "You'd best be hungry, boy." He said, setting a plate of food in front of Alec.
Meanwhile, Danni laughed at Night, shaking her head. "Aw, come on, Night, he aint bad. He's Da's friend, after all, so that gives him major brownie points right away." When Night mentioned scaring the newcomers, she merely grinned and sent a fierce scowl to the area in general that had several younger people freezing or stepping back. One girl even tripped over herself runnign backwards and landed on her button the ground. Danni let out a chortle of delighted laughter and continued onto the kitchens.
"Learn to live a little, Night, m'boy. Necer know how much longer you got left, so you'd best have fun every second." She said philosophically, then donned her apron and set to work with the last of the breakfast stragglers.

Wantign to escape the heat of the ovens, Danni stretched and decided to check out who was still in the cafeteria that she had to feed. With this in mind, she swung through the kitchen door, and began a quick surveilance of the area. And stopped dead when she saw Lin and Dymetri, student and teacher, about to get hot and heavy...In her cafeteria.
Then suddenly, a slow smile started to spread across her face, and she tapped her chin, unnoticed because the two were so absorbed in their own little world. So, she thought, miss goody-goody elf, who hated everything dark, was gettin' it on with who else but one of the darkest teachers at the school...Interesting. In a rare moment of spite, Danni thought up a quick spell in her mind, and her eyes went glassy. Every time she blinked, it acted like a camera, and a picture of what she saw ended up in her hand, which was hidden inside her cloak.
Finally, when she'd gotten a few decent pictures, she cleared her throat, tapping her spatula on her palm. "Lin...Teach...Mind doing that someplace that's not my territory? People come in here to eat, not puke." She said casually, leaning against the breakfast bar.

"That's what's wrong," he muttered under his breath to Lin. Dymetri's head raised up slightly and faced Danni, a frown settling on his face.
"Doing what? We're having a conversation, you understand. And I'm almost positive you don't have a right to speak to me in that manner."
In a second's notice, Dymetri vanished from his position in front of Lin to being in front of Danni. "There isn't a soul in this room, either. So we can both assume that there is no need for you to be scouting this area, although it is very considerate of you."
He forged a quick smile, one of his dazzling vampire smiles, and his eyes softened. "And I am Mr. Valen. May I be ever so pleasured by your name?"

"No." Danni said simply, and shoved her spatula in his face as though it were a deadly sharp knife. She'd never been one to fall for a smile, especially not from a man she sensed could be very dangerous if you were stupid enough to go and trust him. "Now you listen here, Mr. Valen, teacher or not, you'll not be messing around with the goody two shoes elf, not in my cafeteria ot anywhere else if you've any sense of decency. And it is mine, you see. If you don't like answering to me, I've no trouble calling Da in here. Cook'll have no trouble tossing you out, and neither do I. Either eat or scat, nothing else." She said, her face scowlingand her eyes snapping. No one, no one talked back to her, not in her own kitchens.

Alec's smile grew wider as he was set upon by three dogs that he had sorely missed since he left. They all looked older, and slightly heavier since Cook had been feeding them. Alec knelt down and began to pet them all in turn while talking to them in boyish baby talk. "Well hey there guys! How've my favorite boys been doing, huh? Cook's been feeding you good, now hasn't he? Yes, yes he has!"
Alex almost shed a man tear when he saw the plate of food Cook set down in front of him. Alec sat down and simply smelled the amazing food for a good minute or so. Alec hadn't eaten Cook's food in 6 years, and he had never found anyone who matched his cooking. Alec let the sweet aroma waft into his nose and sit there in delicious bliss. After he had smelled enough, Alec carefully took his fork and cut off a sizable chunk of food. Alec let it hang in front of his nose for one more brief moment, then slowly placed it in his mouth.
Even though it was just chicken, Cook had done an above amazing job with it. Flavor exploded in Alec's mouth like it was the Fourth of July. Alec let out a loud and prolonged, "Mmmmmmmmmmm," of satisfaction as he chewed. Alec slowly chewed the piece of chicken slowly and reverently for a few more minutes before he finally swallowed and let out a satisfied "Ahhh." Alec turned to cook with a look of absolute bliss on his face. "Cook, I don't know how, but you make the best food I've ever had!"
And as soon as Alec was done savoring the rich taste of that first bite, he promptly dug in and began to devour the rest of what was in front of him. This was the first real meal Alec had had in months, so he decided to go a little crazy with eating it.

Athena, for one reason or another, had returned and had been in the cafeteria for a while now. Sleeping. However, she'd woken up for... well, she didn't know. She just was awake now. Coughing, she said, "Ah, I'm here too, actually." She raised a meek hand to the back of her head with an embarrassed laugh.

((Can we say, then, that Lin and Dymetri were only in the cafeteria and doing that after breakfast b/c they thought no one else was in there, since breakfast was over? I mean, otherwise they would NEVER risk doing any of that.))
Lin was so incredibly embarrassed at someone catching them. She thought they were alone... But what was worse than the embarrassment was the fear that Dymetri was going to be in a lot of trouble now! For some reason, she saw that Danni was not looking kindly at her. Almost with anger and revenge in her eyes instead. What had she done?
But more importantly, what if she lashed out at Dymetri with whatever was the reason for that look in her eyes?
Lin jumped off of the table and stood behind Dymetri. She didn't touch him at all but stayed close to him. "Danni, please. I do not know what your aversion to me is, but please do not take it out on Dym... Mr. Venn. He has done nothing wrong. We were simply conversing. Can we please just leave and forget any of this ever occurred?"

As she spoke to him, he felt almost a wave of amusement wash over him. He was able to snap this brat's spine and she was threatening him?
Then, he couldn't help himself.
Dymetri let out a hearty laugh, and honestly he couldn't stop.
When he finally managed to calm down, he backed away from her spatula in mock horror and looked at Lin. "All right, Miss Yin," Laughter. "I believe that if we do not leave," Laughter. "Then we'll be decapitated before we know it."
However, when a small laugh was heard from the cafeteria, he raised a brow and looked in that direction. "Oh, well then." He turned back to Danni. "Don't you have to do a little explaining to that nice young lady over there what the cafeteria is used for?"
He made a point to say that it wasn't just her cafeteria.
Dymetri guided Lin out of the room.

Ra's eyes snapped open, glowing brightly. "Yeah, that was me. We need to head to the upper floors. Fast. Stay away from the sub-basements no matter what you do, okay? There are things down there you don't want to see Chris."
He jumped upwards and pulled himself into another duct. "Lets get a move on."

Lin didn't have to be told twice! She was right behind Dymetri as he headed out... not that she had a choice since he was guiding her out. But she was so happy to get out of there! She had nodded in Danni and Athena's direction as she and Dymetri headed out. At least Athena had a good idea of what was going on between herself and Dymetri. She hoped her roommate wouldn't say anything to anyone else. But Danni... Lin had a horrible feeling that she would be the one they'd have trouble with.
Once they were out of the cafeteria, Lin looked around her and saw that no one was in the hall. Everyone must be in class. Lin's didn't start for another hour.
So, she grabbed Dymetri's hand and raced up the stairs toward her room. She used her keen Elven hearing as she had run with Dymetri to make sure she didn't hear anyone ahead of them or behind them. Obviously a student would not be holding a professor's hand, and they didn't need even MORE trouble. But she felt as if the only safe place they could be in right now was her room. After all, Athena obviously wasn't there.
Once they were in her room, Lin shut the door behind them quickly, locked it, and then slumped against the wall by the door. Her eyes were closed and she was trying to calm her breathing down. "Oh dear..."

Athena shook her head, still tired, but wrote a quick message on a piece of paper she'd apparently been doodling on before her nap, and magicked it into either Lin or Valen's pocket. She didn't know whose it would land in; it didn't matter. It read 'Your secret's safe with me.', so it was just to make sure they wouldn't worry about her.
Besides, had she been in that position, she wouldn't have wanted to have to sneak around in her own room or some such nonsense. Then again, she didn't think she'd ever be in such a--well, she had no good adjective for it--situation. She hoped to goodness that Murphy's Law didn't decide to take that particular statement of hers to fiddle with.
Crap, she was doomed now.
