wen i first started playing in my beginner band we already had chairs. i had first chair in the trumpet section for both beginning and symphonic.

When school was in session, I was first chair in the highest band, and when we did challenges ((We played a certain selection to a higher chair, and if you win, you go up to that chair.)) I was third at the time, and the 2nd chair person wasnt there, so I challenged 1st chair. Well, I got picked to go first, so I played it PERFECTLY... and when I was done everyone was like DDDDDAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMM!!!!! Lol.
So I got first biggrin

I'm 1st chair alto saxophone. I went to a band camp a year ago and got 3rd chair in the not so good band (otherwise maybe about 8th chair ish)
But I went again this year and got 1st chair in the good band and got into jazz band.

As of right now, i'm 2nd out of 2. but that's only because my SL is the Band Captain, and I'm a freshman. I'm better than her though, people tell me that all the time.
tubas, i'll be 3rd out of 3. (I'ma play tuba in the concert band)

in the new jazz band...i'm first alto sax out of 4. in the concert band(we haven't done playing tests yet) i'm fairly sure i'll be firts out of...about 10 or 11. biggrin

My section didn't have chairs because there was only 2 of us. BUT in honors band i was the second chair for bass clarinets biggrin
