"No reason? No Reason to still be here!?" Allen's voice raised quite suddenly, "How would you like it if your brother was straight up killed and then some know it all princess came and told you that you had no business with the deceased!?" Allen's fists balled and the tension was about to break. "I understand this is your home but I think we're going to take as much time as we need considering the events that have transpired in this poor man's life as of late." He folded his arms a cross his chest and angled himself so he wasn't facing the woman directly. At this position he could drop his shoulder quickly for a charge to incapacitate her should she draw that pretty little gun of hers. He wasn't concerned about either of the guards nor was he worried about her firing the gun. His only real vulnerable spot was his head and most cops shot high or shot low he'd found.

LAURA LISTERINE
Laura knelt down and pretended that nobody was there, even though the jerk behind her was not letting up. She peered down at the horrible scene and knew she would have to call for back-up on this scene. This was too much for her and she had to meet Oual in a couple of minutes. She knew Oual wouldn't want her to deal with this. She was only called down here to try and save James and that didn't happen. Before she put in a call to the crime scene investigation unit of her department, she took out a small camera, which she carried around in order to take a quick pic of any scene that needed fast and useable material for and started quickly snapping pictures.
She snapped pictures of the body, the surroundings, and then threw the camera back in her pocket. The pictures were grotesque and if Laura stayed in here any longer, she knew she was going to have a mental breakdown. Right when she got up, the jerk of a man that hadn't left her alone for some time now. He was still there like he was trying to prove something. He then started talking again, "No reason? No reason to still be here!? How would you like it if your brother was straight up killed and then some know it all princess came and told you that you had no business with the deceased!? I understand this is your home but I think we're going to take as much time as we need considering the events that have transpired in this poor man's life as of late."
The man looked like he was about to fight Laura so Laura knew what she had to do. "LISTEN!" she finally had lost it. "You're right. Losing someone is awful and I know exactly how your friend feels! BUT HE LEFT WITH MY MEN! SEE? HE DIDN'T WANT TO BE HERE ANYMORE AND IF HE DID HE WOULD HAVE STAYED! See that truck right over there? That's your friend being driven to a hospital. And there is no WE involved. This isn't your job and quite frankly you'd fail at it if you ever tried. I told you to go and you didn't. You are standing here being a jack a** trying to annoy the s**t out of me. Well now you messed with the wrong person."
Laura went straight up to him and pulled out her cuffs expertly and slapped them on the man before he even had time to respond. She put her hands on his shoulder and continued speaking. "You are under arrest for insubordination. We would have figured this all out in due time but there is nothing we can do here anymore. If you give me anymore trouble while walking to my cruiser you can kiss your sweet a** freedom good-bye."

Allen grinned, "Insubordination? Fair enough I'll go quietly. Ain'tcha gonna read me my rights officer Listerine?" He liked how well he had gotten under her skin and now he had to show her how little power she had. "Oh I almost Forgot," He snapped the chain holding the to cuffs together with very little resistance from the metal He didn't finish the sentence he just continued grinning at her. "Where's the car? I'll seat myself officer if you don't mind."

LAURA LISTERINE
The man snapped the chain as easy as if it was made of paper. Who was she dealing with? Now she was beginning to think... what if this case was easier than expected? What if this man was the Mastermind? He could be the Mastermind and this bothered Laura a little bit, but the man was going quietly. Would the Mastermind do this?
'No!' said a voice inside Laura's head. 'The Mastermind would never do this. This is just some stupid man trying to get under my skin...'
Laura smiled at the man's smart a** comment. Then she said, "No reason to be professional if I am dealing with a child." Laura knew that this comment would get her into trouble with Oual if he had ever found out about it, but she couldn't hande anything anymore. She was on her breaking point and she knew that she couldn't handle this man without Oual's help. She couldn't wait to see Oual. Laura knew once she talked to Oual, things would be better. She walked the man to her cruiser and threw him in the back of the car.
"Now I know you're strong Mr. Muscles... but damage this car at all and you won't be dealing with me anymore... you'll be dealing with the state so do not start getting all Christian Bale on it. Got it?" Laura didn't particularly care if he did. Someone needed to pay for James Cross's death and even though Laura was an honorable enough cop, maybe she had found somebody who deserved the punishment.

<< PreviouslyWhen the coast was clear and all of the police had left the vacinity of Listerine estate Anthony seemed to appear out of thin air. He had maintained invisibility by crouching in the corner of the kitchen enshrouded in darkness. "Hrmm," He jumped at the sound of him clearing his voice. "Keep it together Ghoul," He had decided to try the name Ghoul as a super hero name, though only to himself, he hadn't had the chance to use it aloud with others around yet. Pulling a flashlight out of the folds of clothing he began ducked under the police tape and crouched next to a small puddle of blood mixed with a silver substance. Standing upright he saw a folder file on the counter with a name on the tab. Squinting in the poor light he reached for the file. His eyes grew large and the sudden increase in adrenaline caused his heart rate to surge. The label on the Folder said Lieutenant James Cross Homicide. He quickly read through its contents before setting the file down. He decided to do some sleuthing of his own. An hour later he collapsed wearily on the Listerine's couch and sighed through the heavy cloth if his mask. There was next to zero evidence in the house, even the scanner he had "Borrowed" from the police hadn't picked up much in the way of clues. So what now? "Confront Laura, inform Oual, interogate city low-lives..." He muttered out loud before trailing off into his own thoughts. He quickly retreated to the shadows and corners of Listerine estates. He'd wait for Laura, and then after gathering some information from her he'd move on to talk to Oual.

After an hour or so of waiting Anthony grew impatient with this woman. He took samples of the strange metallic substance and after tucking it neatly into a pouch he left via the window he had come from and made his invisible march past the guards back to the street. Once there he took a deep breath of relief and became visible again. After much internal debating, he start off at a decent pace to Downtown Delmor. He could still feel the aches in his joints and the bruises throbbing from his back where he had fallen after the apartment fire but ignored them. If he was to remain ever vigilante that meant sometimes stepping out of his comfort zone. Sneaking through a side alleyway where he parked his car he stored his evidence in the glove box and locked the car again before scrambling up a fire escape to stand on the roof of some building. It wasn't nearly tall enough to see over all the buildings (Snottsborn annoyingly stuck out like a sore thumb on the horizon) but it did the trick. Delmor's downtown area was clear across the city and without a car it was going to be a long trek. He grimaced at the idea of what he was about to do. The shortest, quickest route across town by foot wasn't the loop road, nor was it Shawondasee road. In fact the fastest way across town when hoofing it was the Delmor sewer pipes that networked across just about every inch of the town. This was, Anthony grimaced, the best route to use. Crawling down from the night skies and fresh air he produced a crow bar from his trunk and pried the man hole in the alleyway up, crawled in and replaced the heavy plate above his head.

LAURA LISTERINE
Laura sped through the streets of Delmor and she thought she saw a man slink down into a sewer, but it must of been a trick of the light, or Laura's sleep depravation. It had taken her a long time to get into her car and head back to her house because once she did, she knew she'd have to deal with the crime scene. She had told the CSI team that she wanted to clean everything up and they had listened to her obediently because... well... she was the new up and coming chief of police now.
Laura still could not believe that Oual was giving her this position. Just as everything was finally starting to calm down in her mind, her cell went off. What now? It was so late in the night. Who could be calling? It could be Drew... she hadn't returned his calls yet and she knew she'd get it when she finally did talk to him, but when she finally glanced at her phone, the caller ID she saw was worse than just "Drew." It was her father... Larry Listerine.
"Hello?" she answered the phone, finding it funny that she was disobeying the law of using a cell phone while driving and she was the new chief of police now.
"Laura... where the hell have you been?" her father's voice sounded nothing short of irritated.
"Working father. You are obviously calling because you know what went on. I had my phone off for most of the day. Can we talk about this later? I am so tired..."
"No we cannot..." Laura's father cut her off. "Do you know what this news will do to me? We have just past Snottsborn Industries by two points today. Snottsborn is no longer in the top. This news... that this boy... was murdered on my grounds... we will lose numbers Laura... you must understand..."
Now it was Laura's turn to cut her father off. "That boy that died father..... that was my friend. His name was James Cross and he was a hero. He died trying to save lives father. So I'd appreciate it if you didn't disrespect him all because of this stupid idea you have of numbers..."
"Laura!" Larry Listerine said a bit louder, causing Laura to take the phone a couple of inches from her ear. "I understand you are upset. But I would very much appreciate you seeing where I am coming from. I have a lot riding on this incident... and let's not forget your very close friend Drew Dubberberry either. He came by the house today to see you... he could be linked to this case you know and..."
"He will not be linked to it father. I promise you. I understand everything. I have to go though. I am pulling into the estates now." Laura hung up as she pulled in towards the entrance gate.
The fact of the matter was she didn't really care much about her father's work and him trying to one up Snottsborn all of the time. That was all trivial to her. She had bigger things to think about, though she had to continue making it seem like she cared. Having her father on her side could come in handy someday. He was a very powerful man. As she pulled up to the guard's post, the two men who had failed to do their job earlier today stared at her, waiting for her wrath. But she wasn't like her father, she didn't have the heart for that.
"Just make sure this never happens again guys. Please. If not for my sake, at least for my father's..."

LAURA LISTERINE
Laura didn't like arguing with her father, but he could be so selfish sometimes. He had always been like that as she grew up too. Did he not understand that one of her friends and comrades died? Was his industry really all he cared about? She shook her head as she went to her kitchen, which was where James Cross had been killed earlier today. She wasn't surprised to see that the scene was now spotless, like nothing had ever been there, but in her mind she would always remember the horribly blood scene. It would never leave her thoughts.
Tears started welling in her eyes, but she quickly wiped them away. This was being taken too far... she had to rest. Tomorrow would be an even worse day though. It would be Laura's first day as chief. Though Oual was still on the job for another week or so, Laura needed to start acting like the chief. She was definitely scared, but this position also excited her a great deal. How could she think like this though? Her friend was dead. That was all she thought about as she changed into a pair of comfortable pajamas and went towards her bed.
As she was moving towards her bed though, something caught her eye. Not something, but someone! She reached for her pillow, which she kept a small handgun underneath it and aimed it at the figure standing in a dark corner of her room. "I will shoot!" Laura said in a clear, yet slightly frightened voice. If this was the Mastermind she would be doomed.
"I am fully aware that you would shoot my dear... but it would be very kind of you if you didn't..." the figure said in a low, clearly male voice.
"Just what do you think you are doing here?" Laura demanded, now gaining her senses back, her adrenaline pumping through her body.
"Well I just thought I might pay the new chief of police Miss Listerine. Is that a crime?" the man then laughed in a way that Laura did not like. "Oh... I guess it is a crime if I broke into your house to see you. My apologies. Let me start over. My name Miss Listerine... is Mr. Wyong." As he said this the man stepped out of the shadows so Laura could see her new acquaintance's face.

LAURA LISTERINE
"You must forgive me for my rudeness." Mr. Wyong said to Laura Listerine. Laura could not believe that someone had once again trepassed on her property. What was she paying her guards for if this kept happening? She still kept her gun ready, not liking this man who called himself Mr. Wyong one bit.
Wyong came fully out of the shadows and bowed his head. "I came here because I feel like you deserve an explanation Miss Listerine." Wyong said with a smile.
"Get out of my house now." Laura said through gritted teeth. All she had to do was shoot this son of a b***h and it would be done. Was this man the Mastermind? He could be. Maybe Laura had finally found the Mastermind.
Mr. Wyong smiled and shook his head. "No I am not Laura. I am not the Mastermind." Laura was struck with awe when she heard Wyong say this. How did he know what she was thinking? What was all of this? Mr. Wyong continued. "I know you have many questions. I cannot answer many sadly though for it would waste precious time. You need not say anything to me Laura for I can read minds. Yes... I am a super Miss Listerine. More than that... I am here to tell you what happened to James Cross's body. I took it. I had to. You must understand that I have many enemies and this Mastermind case you are working on is more of a tangled web than you will ever know. I am the reason James Cross had powers... yes... that silver stuff you and your team found on him was a shield that had been under his skin the entire time. He was a super. I created him. If our adversary... yes... the one you call the Mastermind got hold of James Cross's body, who knows what would have happened. You see besides reading minds, I can also see who has the super gene and who doesn't. James Cross has the super gene, but it was never triggered, so I helped him with triggering it. Once the brain triggers this gene, abilities shall come to them instantly."
Laura had had enough of Mr. Wyong's monolouge though, as quickly as she could she got out of bed and pinned Wyong against the wall. She held her gun to his head and said, "You have three seconds to tell me why the hell you came here to tell me all of this before I kill you."
Wyong laughed and gently pushed Laura off of him. "You fool. You think I haven't come protected. My assistant is somewhere in this room. The moment I give him the word you will be struck dead... but I do not want to kill you Miss Listerine. I am here to help you."
"Why would I ever need your help?" Laura asked bitterly, now looking around to see if she could spot Wyong's assistant. He had to be bluffing. She could see nobody else in the room.
Wyong stepped closer to Laura and said, "There is a boy that is of great importance to me. He is another... trial that I conducted. He goes by the name of Austin Aires. You may know him as the nephew of your late boss Oual? Mr. Aires is an extraordinary boy Miss Listerine. All I can tell you is that if you need help... he is a great adversary to have. Remember Laura... we are gunning for the same man." Wyong then snapped his fingers and out of nowhere an extremely tall, black skinned man appeared out of nowhere. The man put his hand on Wyong's shoulder. "Laura..." Wyong continued. "You are an interesting human. I have seen through your entire brain, but there seems to be a huge mental block that I cannot get through. Interesting. I hope that when you die you will allow me to examine your brain. You are a very interesting specimen. Have a good night."
And with the snap of his fingers, Mr. Wyong and his tall, black assistant vanished into thin air.

LAURA LISTERINE
Laura swept her gun around the room the moment the two men vanished, seeing if they would reappear somewhere else. Why would they though? This Wyong man had told her everything she needed to know. He had taken James. This was going to be a horrible mess. James would never be able to have the proper burial he deserved. Oual would of course have to know about this. Maybe Wyong was somewhere in the police records? Better yet, what if Wyong was in actuality the Mastermind? The Mastermind wouldn't be so stupid as to spoil his true name though, or would he?
After all Wyong had basically told Laura to work for him without technically saying that outright. He wanted her to get Austin "on his side." What ever that meant. A plan started forming in Laura's head. It was a brilliant plan. She knew Wyong had something to do with the Mastermind and apparently Wyong and the Mastermind were not very fond of each other. If Laura found out who this Wyong man was then she could issue for his arrest and then... maybe... just maybe... she could get the world to believe they had caught the Mastermind! This would cause the real Mastermind to show himself and then Laura bet that the pieces of this puzzle would start to be solved. But first she had to deal with Wyong.
Laura jumped back into her bed and placed the gun she owned under the pillow. She closed her eyes and tried to go back to sleep, but the noises house made in stillness was eerie and it wasn't until three hours later when she finally drifted off into a still uneasy sleep. Hopefully she'd be ready for what was to come.

LAURA LISTERINE
Laura Listerine woke up to the sound of her cell ringing off the hook. She glanced groggily at her digital clock on her nightstand and saw that the time read: 1 am. She took up her cell phone, hoping to the high Heavens that it wasn't an emergency call. She needed some rest after her encounter with that man who called himself Wyong. She'd be no help to Oual right now anyway. Her brain was on overload. She glanced at the caller ID and it read, "Drew Baby."
She rolled her eyes and snapped the phone open, making her greeting, "Do you know what time it is right now?"
"I'm sorry baby." the voice of Laura's boyfriend, Drew Dubberberry answered back. "I was worried about you though. A lot has been happening sweet heart. I stopped by your house sometime ago. I saw that man James... I am so sorry about what happened sweet heart. Your father filled me in. A lot has been happening on my end too. You have been impossible to reach and..."
"Drew..." Laura said a little more sharply than she intended. "It is 1 in the morning. What did you need?"
There was a pause and Drew answered in a slightly softer voice. "Nothing. I just missed you that's all. I will let you get back to..."
Laura sighed and then cut him off again. "No... no... I am sorry honey. I just have had a lot going on. Listen... my schedule is going to be getting hectic, but what do you say we meet up this coming weekend? I miss you so much as well. We can catch up on everything I promise."
This seemed to cheer Drew up a bit more. "Okay sweet heart! Sounds great. I love you. So much."
Laura smiled and answered back in a sweet voice that knew got Drew going all of the time. "I love you too Drew baby."
She heard Drew chuckle and then hang up. Laura slowly snapped her phone shut and set it back down on her nightstand. Drew was so incredibly great to her. She couldn't ask for a better boyfriend, but she was so caught up in the Mastermind case and everything else going on she had barely seen him these past couple of weeks. She suddenly couldn't wait until the following weekend where she would be able to devote all of her time to Drew that she could.
Feeling a bit thristy, Laura decided to go downstairs to get something to drink and then she'd go straight back to bed. She hadn't forgotten about Wyong though, so just in case she took her gun out from under her pillow once more and went down the stairs. On her way into the kitchen though, she just happened to peer out her window and from a distance she saw the shadowy figure of what looked like a teenager peering at her house. What the hell was she paying her guards for? Shaking her head she went around to the back door and stared walking towards the kid. She did this in a sneaky way though. She had went out the back way because she didn't want him seeing her. She'd get the upper hand. Laura knew she was probably being paranoid, but this kid could be working for Wyong... or even God forbid... the Mastermind. She laughed at this fact. How ridiculous was she?
Laura successfully managed to get within a couple feet of the kid when she finally decided to speak. She didn't raise her gun because the kid wasn't a threat just yet. There was a gate between them anyway. "A picture lasts longer sweet heart. May I ask what the hell you are doing staring at my house? I know it is pretty, but isn't there a better time for sight seeing?"

LAURA LISTERINE
Laura Listerine looked at the boy for a moment and after telling her that he was Oual's nephew she instantly recognized him. "And you are Austin Aires!" Laura slipped her gun subtly into a ankle holster hidden by the white, flowing nightgown she was wearing. She did not want Austin to have any idea that she had been very close to killing him. Of all the people that would be creeping around at night...
"What are you doing out here?" Laura questioned, her cop instincts taking a hold of her. Was something wrong? Why was Austin up so late? "Is everything alright? You know you're lucky my guards aren't the sharpest tools in the shed or else you'd be in way over your head." Laura then glanced at the nearby guard post and saw her two guards sleeping. "On second thought..." Laura said, finding the carelessness of her guards rather annoying, letting out a laugh. "Maybe you wouldn't be in too much trouble."
