During Return of the King my mom would occassionally lean over to ask me questions about the plot rolleyes At first my parents made fun of me for liking LotR, but then my dad read the books, and liked them.

Urg I hate that! My Dad is always asking me questions about LOTR, and he's read all the books and seen the movies... yet something in his brain isn't clicking xd .He always asks when people die, and what kingdom they were from, and what's GOING to happen later in the movie... quite annoying.

My younger sister is worse ^^; At least my parents don't ask about what *will* happen. Usually when my hobbit (what I call my younger sister) asks about what will happen, I make up something REALLY weird to keep her watching. 3nodding

Hehe, this is still alive. Joy.

My mum has taken up the habit of screaming out 'How did they do that?!?!?!' after something cool happens.
'Oh my god, the old magician guy made a huge ball of light to stop the fire thingy! HOW DID HE DO THAT?!?!?!?'

Sigh.

My parents just basically...tolerate my LotR-obesession. <_< My mom read it and The Hobbit when she was in high school or some; my sister got me interested in the books (TLotR, The Silm., The Hobbit, etc.), but she's not quite as big of a fan as I; and my dad hasn't read any of the books, but he's seen the movies and thinks that they're okay.

The only thing that's slightly annoying is when my dad refers to one of the characters as, "that blond elf guy" or "one of those Hobbits" or " the wizard...'Gandorf' was it?" sweatdrop

There's no point in not knowing the characters names razz There are so many, that it's hard to help them understand.

"That blonde dude... he rules Gondor right? And he's the one that DOESN'T die right?" lol *slaps* Parents xd

Well, I've managed to get most of the characters' names straightened out...however, there are those family trees in Appendix C of TLotR that still confuse me sometimes. o__o

Eh, same here LOL. The Simarillion is kinda hard to read since there are so many people, and somehow they're all intertwined. The horrors!!!

My mother does not understand LotR. She never has and she never will. Although, I have less of a problem with that than with my dad who seems to believe that he knows everything about and argues with me at every oppertunity he can.

I prefer my mom being clueless to my dad always having to be right.

Lmao. But if you argue it's fun! Cause you can beat them hehehehehehe

I love LOTR and I'm an avid reader but I admit.... I was defeated by the Silmarillion.
NOTHING HAPPENED. Love the language, though...

How can you say nothing happened?! Lots of stuff happened! Lots of important stuff too! razz I know it was hard to read, but it definitely had a lot of important events in it! And I love the language too heart

My parents never really pay much attention to what I do. They're always at work and I'm always in my room. Even back in high school, Eighth grade, really, they never really paid much attention to what I was obssessed with. 'Course, I was never obsessed with much until the LotR discovery of.... '02? '03? Meh. They just don't really seem to care much. I did manage to get them to watch part of RotK though. Neither of them read.
