Me and My Other Self
Duncan was currently at a loss for words and frozen in his tracks, face stuck in a position that made it seem as though he'd seen a ghost... and he felt as though that were exactly what he were looking at... a terrifying ghost mixed with something else, something dark and even more scary. He took on step back without even realizing it then forced his body to stand still, "Who...?" The question slipped from his lips but instantly the name came to mind, Cecil Barker... why did he know that name? It was a name that was instantly linked with 'danger' and not just because of what was in front of him, no he felt as though he knew she were dangerous before now... he couldn't place why though.
He found himself starring at her in something crossed with fear and awe, she was... nuts, he could tell by that look in her eyes. Not only that but her clothing was spattered in red and he could only guess the source of it... the scent of it far to familiar for his tastes. He'd smelled it before on many occasions when he himself had flipped out and attacked June... it was blood. He gave a shake of his head trying to clear the scent from his nostrils and then took another half step back to duck behind a thick trunked tree. What was he supposed to do now...? Trapped in a part of the park that wasn't really heavily populated with a crazy woman that was blood covered...? He should run, shouldn't fight with her.
After all she was dangerous, might attack him... then a sound that he most definitely didn't want to hear reached his ears. It was a low groan from off to the side, he turned that direction and his trio of eyes went rather wide, "Oh... Hells." He muttered, finding the source of the blood on that crazy woman and finding it alive still. He shook as he took a couple steps closer, trying to determine what he should do now. Could be abandon this person to save his own skin? A part of him wanted to, was all for running off... but his wings fluttered, giving a soft chiming sound... and he knew he couldn't.
Something that wasn't well known to him held him there, a part of himself that he know that well due to always being controlled by his demon self... it was something that one could see as being worse then the demonic side. One side gave him problems with anger management while the other side was completely selfless, unable to keep his own life when it meant someone else would lose theirs. It was a completely new and rather... frightening feeling. He turned around when he felt eyes on him, finding himself facing the crazed glare of that woman... and he felt a chill creep up his back. It was her eyes... why did he know those eyes? When he gazed into them he didn't see a woman he saw someone familiar... he saw... Shar? He blinked a couple times, no... not Shar he saw...
"Hey... that's... that's mine!" He spat out, taking a step toward the woman before he realized what he was doing. Was that his other self? How did she get that? Did she steal it? How could Mr Vampy let that part of him be stolen like that? The guy said he could have it back if he ever decided he wanted it! He had been considering it, taking back his other self so he could be whole again, to get rid of the tiredness that was taking over his life. He was in a constant self debate on whether or not anger that one could learn to control were better or worse then sleep that was starting to take over more and more of his time.
Duncan was shaking a little, forced to take a step back as the woman with the crazed eyes started toward him... and he was sure that this was it, that he was going to be taken down by his other half in some ironic twist of Fate... but then there was a lot of yelling that erupted around him, large men in black uniforms with eye protections and guns crowding the area. His attention was on them for only a moment and when he turned back to the woman... she was gone, no where to be seen... and he was being escorted out of the park while a million questions were being thrown his way... not that any of them mattered at the moment.
All that mattered to Duncan was how his other self had gotten stolen and how he was supposed to get it back...

Facing Myself: Part One: The Hunt
It was a difficult idea to wrap his mind around the idea that he was out today not just for a simple walk but he was in fact hunting for a person who had the bad luck of taking on an aspect of something dark and was taken over by it... he was out today to find that person and to finish her off... to take back what was his, to take back his missing half. Without it he doubted he was going to survive as long as he wanted to, would just fade away in his sleep before he was missing half his soul. He couldn't let that happen, he wanted to be strong, wanted to live... it was a choice though that he was following. It wasn't so simple kill or be killed, it was either he did this himself and won freedom or he allowed Mr Vampy to do it and he found himself enslaved to the guy forever... he highly doubted that simply dying would save him from Mr Vampy.
He had the feeling that it would go beyond that, the guy gave him the creeps and he knew for a fact that he wasn't a good person, far from it. He made dangerous deals with children after all, freed them of things they were afraid of and then let those dangerous things run freely about doing as they wanted... he was certain that above everything that was bothered him the most... he had allowed that part of himself free reign. He had always wanted nothing more then to be a good person, to keep from hurting people, hated when he hurt them... and in a moment of weakness the part of himself that wanted nothing more then to rampage and kill was able to do exactly that. People were dead because of him... and now he would have to blood the hands of his innocent self in order to taken back his blood stained self.
He gave a little growl deep in his throat as he walked along... he could almost taste it in the air... there was blood and grit, there was fear in the air, and there was rage. All the stuff he'd ignored before, things he refused to acknowledge were now things he was looking for in the air, able to scent it out like a hound. It was on the sidewalk, he could see droplets of blood there and it seemed that it was moving quickly but was still damp... he wondered if the one whose blood that belonged to were even alive or not... he took a deep breath and rushed forward. If he could stop it he would, if he could save this last person he would do so.
The claws on his feet clicked against the ground as he ran along on the balls of his feet, moving as fast as possibly as he could, his lungs were burning painful when he finally caught up. There was a scream from down an alley that was cut off midway and there was a dull 'thud' that alerted him to where the person was after being caught by his other self... by the woman he was following and the sounds didn't bode well for the human... another victim now?
It was more likely then the idea that he was still alive...
Duncan took a deep breath and walked into the alley, there was the sound of people yelling, sirens in the distance, but it wasn't where his mind was at the moment. He had to focus, had to think, had to ready himself for what he was about to do... and hope that maybe the people in his life would find it in their hearts to forgive him for his foolishness and what he had to do now...

Facing Myself: Part Two: Smothered
Cecil Barker was lost a long time ago, it was only her shell that was still moving around being led by the whims of a rather malevolent force called Wrath. It was a dangerous aspect of humanity, something that showed up in small little actions such as keying a persons car to something as bad as running over a cheating lover with a car or even worse... it was a dark emotion and it wasn't meant to run free like it was being allowed to do. It wasn't meant to be a part of Cecil Barker like it was today, it was supposed to be Duncan's other half but his mistake had been running away from it without looking back, without questioning it...
He was there now, watching the woman as she yelled gibberish at the one laying still on the ground... whatever the slight the victim had made against her was returned in full force and with a great amount of violence... Duncan took a deep breath as he gathered his waning courage and lifted a hand... he had only practiced a bit with this spell not enough for it to be all that useful to him but maybe it would help in getting the drop on her. He lifted his hand up after gathering the force into it and there was a small spark and flash as some trash near the crazed woman burst into flame... it was a small, sputtering, and somewhat pathetic fire but it would be one that he hoped would do its job.
The woman turned to face the fire as it sprung up with shriek of surprise and anger... he knew those feelings all to well, "I'm sorry." He murmured, reaching down to grab a piece of board off of the ground and then rushed forward at the woman. He didn't want to do this... not entirely, while he wanted to be whole again, wanted to be free, wanted a lot of things he didn't ever want to kill... the board was swung and crashed against the woman's back throwing her forward into the shadows of the alley.
Duncan took a deep and shaking breath as he tossed the broken half of the weapon that remained in his hands to the side and rushed into the shadows to finish off what he'd started in his first attack...
*****
There was a lot of noise all of a sudden, a lot of voices over his head and lights flashing at him, he felt disorientated, he could think straight, could hear, see, feel, anything... it was all a mixed up mess that had him gasping for a breath feeling as though he were suffocating... then he felt as though he were floating... a weight had settled on his chest, something heavy that was crushing him. He felt something under his back, comfortable... soft... and cold...
"Can't... breath..." He said, lifting a clawed hand up to reaching toward one of the blurry shapes that floated above him.
A hand took his to hold it still and something was pushed down over his face. There were more voices over him, talking rapidly as they tried to find the source of the child's distress but couldn't seem to find anything wrong with him despite the fact that they thought he should be dead... he'd been laying in a heap in an alley way along with the still form of the one who had been moving through the area leaving a swath of death behind her... she wasn't breathing and they weren't able to get a response despite their attempts as though her soul had already gone while the boy seemed uninjured but suffering.
"Can't... need... where is..." Duncan struggled to put together a coherent thought but all the new thoughts that were those of Cecil Barker, of his other self while it was in charge were forcing themselves into his mind making it impossible to think. His hand grasping at the mask trying to pull it off as it seemed as though it were smothering him.

Facing Myself: Part Three: Unconscious
Everything was fragmented at first, he could see only the most mixed up of scenes that made so little sense to him... but slowly it started to piece together and the weight that was sitting on his chest only felt that much heavier... he was suffocating with it, the feelings of guilt that were his to bare. Invisible scars that were much deserved after what he had allowed his own darkness to do.
He had been weak, he had been afraid, and because of it others had died... and just as Mr Vampy had said those deaths were his to bare upon his soul... something he could never be free of, something he would never escape... he didn't like the feeling at all... he couldn't breath even with the oxygen mask on. He head a beeping sound but it sounded as though it were in the distance, muffled voices, he even thought he felt a hand holding onto his but he couldn't seem to wake up.
For the moment he was trying to deal with the recovery of his other half and everything that went along with it... all the emotions, all the memories, and it was a bit to much for his young mind to bare all at once so it would seem that he had to rest while it made itself clear to him... as bad as it might be when it did.
*****
June was sitting in a seat next to the bed that his son was laying in and he was holding his son's hand watching him as he shifted and writhed in place, gasping and groaning in his sleep and seemed unable to wake from his slumber. The doctors had checked him over innumerable times and were able to find nothing wrong, a few bumps and bruises but nothing else passed that... he was fine in all ways so the reason why he wouldn't wake up was a mystery.
One thought that was being batted around by the doctors was that he had seen something bad in the alley, that he had run across a dead man and a dangerous criminal. They had crossed paths and somehow his son ended up the survivor and the serial killer ended up being the one whose life was ended...
It was hard to know anything in detail without being able to talk to Duncan.

Facing Myself: Part Four: The Move
A small hand laid on June's shoulder drawing him out of his half sleeping state. The tall man lifted his gaze, expecting to see one of the many nurses that had been coming by to check up on Duncan but instead found himself starring up at an angel...?
"What...?" He could only stare for a moment confused before he was on feet, his size dwarfing that of the angel that was standing in front of him as he put himself protectively between his son and the one he saw as a threat.
Almas gave a little jolt of surprise, starring up at the giant of a man that was Duncan's father with wide eyes though only one seemed to actually be able to focus the other a pretty but hazed over color, "Good evening June." He murmured, "I was sent from the labs by Mr Vampy to see about having Duncan transferred to facilities that are better suited to taking care of someone like him."
June blinked a couple times trying to wrap his mind around what had just been said to him before looked over at Duncan, "Better... suited?"
"Yes... its a possibility that when he wakes up he might go into one of his rages, we don't want him to do that in the middle of a place where there are a lot of sick and injured people do we?" Almas said, giving June a smile that he hoped was assuring.
The large man crossed his arms over his chest, "He hasn't had one of those for a long time."
"And there are reasons for that, ones you will have to talk to him about but for now I need you to trust me that moving him now, while he is still resting is for the best." He took a couple steps forward, slowly toward where Duncan was laying and made sure not to make any motions that would cause June to think that he was a threat. He was afraid that the man might just throw a punch if he thought his son was in danger... something that impressed Almas as it meant the young man was well taken care of by his father.
"He is resting deeply now, its the best time for this. Would you rather try to move him while he is having a fit? I doubt he wants to put more scars on you."
June reached over to catch hold of Almas's wrist before he could touch Duncan with his outstretched hand, tugging the much smaller fallen away from his son, "You seem rather knowledgeable... maybe to much so, who are you?"
Almas gave a shake of his head, "Just an errand boy from the Labs, nothing more."
June's eyes narrowed a little, "I somehow doubt that, errand boys don't have access to as much information as you." He didn't trust him, the angel was... to well informed. Though looking him over he felt pity... he looked as though he were abused, scared up, his wings looked off, and one of his eyes looked blind...
"I don't want to hurt your son and I want to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone else, he doesn't like hurting other people... its for his own good that you move him, hes been through so much already... June, please?"
The man blinked then sighed, releasing Almas, "Fine, we can move him but that doesn't mean that I trust any of you."
"Probably a good thing." The fallen murmured quietly before he went to fetch some of the lab workers he'd brought along from the Labs to help out in moving Duncan from the hospital to their own facilities. They had to do so quickly before he woke up... nobody knew what to expect when that happened.

I am keeping this thing because I have to, not because I want to. I don't know what to write either... things are fine I guess. I am taking interesting classes and getting out again. I am no longer being watched constantly even though I am sure I am still dangerous.
The only ones that really know what happened are Mr Vampy and Xeviel... I don't think I will tell anyone else, I don't want many people to know. It will be easier to move forward if I don't spread around what sort of monster I truly am. I just have to work on keeping that part of me either under control or busy doing other things.
~ Duncan
The spawn looked at the journal for a long, drawn out moment before he closed it and gave it a toss over his shoulder. He didn't see why he should keep a journal like this, it would only endanger his secrets so he would have to be careful with what he wrote in the thing he thought to himself before wandering away from where he'd been sitting and writing. He didn't want to write down anything that would implicate him.
He figured he had enough problems without suspicious journal entries popping up later.
