knock knock
A soft rapping at the door only made it as far as the sealed threshold, the noise altogether drowned out by the screaming, garbling meowing, footstep-thundering and wingbeating that normally took place on Saturday mornings at the Pachinkorelli residence. Fredmitri was scrambling up and down the attic stairs, weaving through doorways and up onto shelves, shadows of his pursuer flickering over his form as he ran in a way only a creature with an octopus body could.
"You can run, but you can't--"
THUNK
A nervous laughter soon followed. "Dayo, be more careful! You almost knocked over the--
THUD
"...coat rack..."
The noise coming from indoors would have confused the average delivery man, but the one here only sighed in amused exasperation. He'd delivered car parts and tools to this house enough times to know that it was a routine deal, and the blonde girl inside wasn't going to need medical attention even if half of her body appeared to be missing. The little mechanic had explained that she'd grow the rest of it in time - which was admittedly weird, but he liked to think he knew Mouse well enough that he wouldn't expect her to be hiding any evil secrets in that workshop of hers.
Ah well, the only way he could finish this deilvery and get back to his work was to knock louder. Sparing none of his strength, he whaled on the door with his free hand until the noises within settled to a more normal volume.
With the familiar click of a lock unlatching, the door swung open to reveal its resident green-haired pixie with a weary grin and a cup of triple espresso in one hand - one would wonder why she needed it, with the levels of energy crackling across the room. "Oh, Mark!" she started, peering at him curiously. "I... don't think I was expecting a package today..." Turning her gaze to the package, she gave it a once-over and noticed quickly enough that it was giftwrapped. Ah. Not something she'd ordered, then, but...
"Oooooh, that's a, uh... a... present, right?" Dayo asked, floating closer to the doorway to have a look. "Who's it for?"
Mouse signed for the package and gave Mark a friendly wave before closing the door and setting it on a nearby table. "Weeeelllll, let's see here..." The wrapper was patterned with clouds, which made it easy to guess who it was for and who it might be from, but she gave the tag a glance just to make sure. "Huh. Looks like it's for you, Dayo!"
The eagle girl's eyes went as wide as her grin, and she hovered over the box as if it were a lizard she was thinking of catching and eating. "Really?! It's MINE?"
"Mmmm-hmm."
"Whoa, that's like... that's so cool! Awesome!" she cheered, continuing to stare at the package. A present for her! This was so exciting!
"...Uh. Dayo?"
Her gaze snapped over to her guardian, the present gathered up in her arms. "Yeah?"
"Aren't you going to open it?" Mouse chuckled. "Don't tell me you forgot that part again..."
"Oh, ri-- hey!" the Frei pouted. The air around her soured slightly, but nowhere near enough to shadow over the giddiness over her gift. "No I didn't, I was just, like... waiting to see if you remembered! Yeah!" Sticking her tongue out at the thwarted mechanic, she settled the box back onto the table and proceeded to hack away at the paper with her claws. Scraps of blue and cloud flew up out of her hands to land on the table and carpet below, revealing a now very punctured and scratched box underneath. One more deft slice of the packing tape, and...
...Huh, a hat?
Mouse raised a brow as her charge tried it on-- and miraculously, it actually worked over her wild hair. "Hey, nice... what else is in there? More hats?"
Dayo didn't answer directly. Instead she started giggling, pulling out a large tote bag decorated with dark storm clouds and stylized bolts of lightning. The bag was positively stuffed with accessories: not only a few more hats, but punkish hairclips, armbands, rings, pins and even a few ties and chokers that went well with her prized double-collar. She tried everything on one by one as she took them out, and by the time the afternoon had rolled around Mouse had dug up and dusted off a large antique mirror the eagle girl could pose in front of.
They'd have to thank Ebony later.

I think this comes from how her fel essence would project feelings of sadness, and Dayo does the same thing with a full range of emotions. Since they're her "food" she seems to prefer certain emotions over others, with happiness, excitement and other feelings in that category topping the list at this stage. As she got older she moved from "baby food" made of simpler, calmer emotions to more charged and energetic ones. She's capable of feeding off of emotions she can cause just by being around a lot of people, but nowadays most of her food comes from the excitement from playing different games, watching action movies, etc. with other people. Usually me and my chimera, but she also loves playing laser tag with Lucretia and chase with Zul.
Her development is pretty normal so far, but one thing's bothering me: she seems to have no idea that her powers exist!
Let me explain... I'm pretty sure she knows that she can read other people's emotions and eat them and so on, but the other way her empathy works hasn't crossed her mind yet. She'll at least try to calm down when I ask her to (sometimes), but as far as observing that her excitement makes me lose sleep some days... I don't think she's gotten that far, and I have no idea when she will. Is it possible that she's incapable of "reigning in" her own emotions and keeping them to herself?
If that's the case, maybe the answer lies in... I don't know, rerouting her powers into something productive? It could at least serve as a starting point for controlling her powers, since she acts more on emotions and instinct than she ever will on logic and intelligence.
I'll give you updates on how well this works, hopefully it'll help you if someone runs into a similar case.

Chloe Star Sometime around noon you hear a knock on the door. Going to answer it you find a Delivery Person holding a brightly colored package. They hand you a clip-board asking for your signature before handing it over. A sticker on the present box reads in bright, bold red letters Do Not Open Until Christmas!. Attached is a tag with Ekundayo's name on it, on the other side you see a small message. Gift Tag Message Merry Christmas! Do you think Santa's put you on the NICE or NAUGHTY list? From: Chloe S.
