Location: Supermarket; N/A
Time: Sometime between 10am to 12pm?

The basket shifted slightly as Xiu bent over to observe a packet of apples and finding one he liked, the young frei placed the apples carefully into the shopping basket before moving on in search of the next item on his list when…
“Va-len-ti-ne?” Xiu said as he made an attempt to read the flowery message before him. What does Valentine mean? thought Xiu as his eyes wandered down to the stacks of chocolates below the sign. It probably had something to do with the chocolates and pink paper hearts but its exact meaning were currently beyond the understanding of the white raevan. If the hearts and chocolates were any hint, Valentine’s Day was probably a day where people love chocolates...or something like that. Shrugging his shoulders, Xiu floated away from the display without giving them a second thought. Perhaps he would ask Hazeline about this 'Valentine's Day' later. Right now, he had a shopping list to complete.

Fragmented thoughts and ideas buzzed under Dayo's mass of hair as she whizzed through the street. It had been enough of a challenge to get her guardian to let her go out on her own - this was the very first time she'd been more than several yards away from her - but the task that lay ahead was far beyond the difficulty she had faced at the front door.
Valentine's Day was a holiday... holidays were fun... but you couldn't have fun on THIS holiday unless you had a "date"! This much she had learned from Mouse's explanations... and it was also apparent that her guardian didn't have a "date", so that meant that unless she got one, the holiday wouldn't happen for them. The eagle girl wouldn't stand for that! She had to find what her guardian needed in order to celebrate Valentine's Day, and it had to be the best date she could find so it would be as fun as possible!
And so, she had arrived at the supermarket. Surely the perfect date would be there, this place always had almost everything Mouse wanted!

"Sir, would you like to buy some chocolates for your Valentine?" A perky salesgirl asked as Xiu was passing by yet another stand displaying candies and hearts. Xiu stopped and eyed the box of chocolates offered to him.
"Valentine?" enquired Xiu politely. This human seemed like someone who was willing to explain this 'Valentine' mystery to him. Smiling, Xiu shifted his shopping basket to a more comfortable position and waited.
"Oh, you must be a foreigner then. That would explain the funny clothes you have on ," the salesgirl said nodding sagely and showing apparent delight at having someone to talk to despite said person's lack of legs. "How long have you been around?"
"A few...months," Xiu replied tentatively. "There is much that...I have yet to know. Valentine is one of them,"
"Oh you poor soul!" chirped the salesgirl. " Valentine's Day is a day where you give someone flowers, chocolates or any other appropriate presents to show your love!"
"Like...Christmas?" Xiu asked quizzically.
"No,no,no!" giggled the salesgirl. "On Valentine's Day, only one single and special someone would receive a gift from you and I am sure that such a strapping young lad like you would have someone to give these wonderful chocolates to, right?"
Xiu did not buy the flattery but the thought of giving Hazeline a box of chocolate wrapped up as prettily as the one before him appealed to him greatly. Besides, his 'tip' for helping with the shopping these past few weeks was begining to take up too much room in the shopping purse.
"Alright, I will take a box," said Xiu quietly as he counted out the required amount. "I am sure Hazeline would like it,"
"You are Hazeline's date then? Most girls would be floored when their dates turn up with presents for them on Valentine's Day" said the cheerful salesperson as she placed the box of chocolates into a plastic bag. "I know I will be,"
"No, I don't believe I am Hazeline's date," replied Xiu softly.
"Then it just wouldn't do would it?" the salesgirl repoached the raevan playfully. "Only a date has the right to give a girl chocolates,"
"I-I see...," said Xiu worriedly. "There is no other way about it?"
"Nope, no other way and good luck with her!" the salesgirls replied merrily before turning to face another potential customer and leaving a befundled Xiu holding a box of chocolates behind.
"Oh dear....," said Xiu to himself as he held the box of chocolate. "I certainly can't waste these chocolates...they are quite expensive and...I am certainly not a date... Looks like my only other option is to find a date to give this box of chocolate to Hazeline,"
Thus making up his mind, Xiu began to search for a date in earnest and was on the verge of asking a burly looking security officer when his eyes caught sight of another raevan in the distance.
Abandoning his quest for the moment, Xiu made his way towards the other.

The eagle girl continued to flit through the aisles of the supermarket, hovering by one shelf only to zing to another and scan through the items there. She looked like a tawny-and-blue hummingbird -- wings beating unconsciously from the excitement and nose brushing against each label as she read them -- in search of a particular flower, every bit as picky as she was uncertain about exactly what she was looking for. One hand reached forth to examine a jar or a packet of some kind every few moments, but the word 'date' couldn't even be found in the tiny text that listed off the ingredients. She was starting to wonder if she had come to the wrong place...
...and then she noticed a figure clad in gray, missing as much of his lower half as she was. Another Raevan! It was only right to go over and greet him.
Her buzzing aura dissolved into something warm and blissful as she zeroed in on her distraction, reaching up a claw to grip a lock of hair and pull it back over her shoulder. "Heeeeyyy," she drawled out, giving a lazy smile, "how's it going?"

“Hey!” Xiu responded as he neared the other raevan. This was exciting! He had never met another raevan without the presence of at least one of their guardians before. Smiling slightly, Xiu shook his head at the other’s question. “Not so good I’m afraid. Can’t seem to find a…date for Hazeline,”
“But…may I know your name? I’m Xiu” Xiu said as he eyed the other. Up close, the female raevan made an impressive figure to say the least and her hair…it looks so soft and…downy? Xiu was tempted to reach out and feel it but decided against it as it probably wasn’t proper etiquette to do so; especially to someone whom he had just met.

"I'm Dayo," the eagle girl responded, continuing to comb and preen at her hair with her fingers. "And, like... I didn't think there'd be another, uhhh.... another Raevan out here. Are you shopping, too, Xiu?" She couldn't help but giggle to herself a bit at the little rhyme that made. Xiu's name was fun to say! Her eyelids drooped while her grin widened, head perking a bit in honest curiosity. Whatever the other Frei had just said besides his name had passed through her mind as quickly as a breeze.
The back of her mind nagged at her, though, trying to tell here that she had gone out here looking for... something...
"Oooh, hey, what's that?" She pointed at the large box of chocolates the Pi Yao was carrying, her aura buzzing lightly with curiosity. Whatever it was, it must have been from an aisle she hasn't checked yet!
...for whatever it was she was looking for.

Xiu laughed along with Dayo as the eagle raevan pronounced his name and was instantly at ease with the other. This raevan seemed like a carefree soul.
“Oh, you mean these?” Xiu asked holding up the box of chocolates, “Umm…they are chocolates; from the stall over there,” said Xiu nodding in the general direction of the stall where he had bought them from. “The ones with pink hearts and stuff. Can’t really miss it,”
“But ummm…unless you are a date or have a date ready for your guardian, you probably shouldn’t buy them,” added Xiu quickly fearing that the other raevan might end up like him; a raevan stuck with a box of chocolates because he wasn’t his guardian’s date (whatever that was. Xiu had always thought that dates were days or months on the calendars) for Valentine’s.

"Oh, cooooool!" the eagle girl responded, drawing out the vowel noises ("cool" also rhymed with "Xiu!" Well... kinda?) and rolling her gaze over to where he had indicated. "I'll have to check those out." And she drifted back a few feet, slowly, heading towards the piles of pink and hearts and chocolates.
Until Xiu's words hooked into her ears. Date... she needed a date!!
"Oh no, that's right!" she hurriedly said, ruffling her wings and giving her hair a stressed tug. "I... I need to find one of those! A date! For my guardian!" She fluttered back to where the gray Frei was hovering, coming closer this time. "We can't have Valentine's Day without one! But... if you didn't see one over there..." Gold eyes flicked back at the display, the air around her buzzing like an emotional swarm of locusts. "You don't, like, know where I can find one, do you?"

She certainly was an expressive one. Xiu floated back a little as the other tugged at her hair but stopped as the she hovered towards him. Xiu couldn’t help it but being with this frei was almost akin to being caught in a whirlwind of emotion. The white frei could practically feel them; which was of course impossible. Xiu had never heard of anyone feeling another’s emotion before. Seeing someone anxious was one thing but to feel another’s anxiousness was another thing all together. Xiu flicked his wings a little uneasily.
“Unfortunately no. In fact, I am looking for one myself,” answered Xiu truthfully. “Do you think your guardian would know? Or perhaps…if they were to meet each other; my guardian and yours; they’d be able to find some dates between them?”
Xiu highly doubt that that would work but it was worth a try. Valentine’s was a human thing after all and who could possibly understand it better than humans themselves?

The buzzing fluctuated for a moment as Xiu spoke, until giving way to a rushing flurry of excitement when Dayo processed his suggestion. "Hey... yeah!" A smile beamed from her features once again. She was about to hug the other Raevan for making such a brilliant suggestion! "It would be, like... a date hunt!" Her wings fluttered at the anticipation of such an event. Scavenger hunting was fun! Adding that to the holiday could only make it better.
Though if it that part was only meant for their guardians, then she wouldn't be able to participate... but at least they could watch! "And when they find a date, we'll, like... we'll know what it is too, huh?"

Xiu was once again inclined to float backwards; away from the potential danger of being hugged. It wasn’t that he disliked hugging, it was just that…Xiu did not fancy coming into close contact with someone he had just met, be it a person or a raevan. Invading another’s personal space was something the oriental raevan was uncomfortable with.
“Yes, a date hunt,” agreed Xiu enthusiastically. “ When shall they meet? Perhaps on Valentine’s day? Maybe more dates would show up then,”

Dayo had only known Xiu for a few minutes, but she was already liking him-- he was just so smart! His floating away to keep his distance didn't phase her too much, thanks to her guardian making some success in educating her on the concept of personal space, so she settled for beaming at him from a couple of feet away instead of touching him. "Yeah, that's a great idea! I bet they'll find, like... a lot!"
"But, like, where should they go? Since there, uhh... aren't any dates here..." she swept her eyes across the store, just to double-check, "...we need them to meet somewhere else, right?"
Her brow furrowed in an earnest attempt at thought. There were a ton of commercials on the television that depicted Valentine's Day happening in a variety of places, none of them being a store... or an arcade.. or even in the laser tag center...

“That is…a problem…” agreed Xiu thoughtfully. Glancing at a rather large Valentine’s poster nearby, Xiu studied the wordings for a moment before turning to Dayo. “That poster says have a romantic Valentine’s with your date and there’s a few pictures underneath showing umm…dark places with tables and candles…,” said Xiu a little apprehensively. There was always something rather worrying about dark places. You can’t see much for one and you tend to bump into lots of stuff for another.
“Perhaps we could ask someone,” said Xiu brightening up. “I’m sure there are many who wouldn’t mind telling us how to find dates; how about that salesperson I bought the chocolate from? She seems to know a lot about Valentine’s Day,”

Xiu was right. If they were going to help their guardians find dates, then they needed to know everyone about them, first! She nodded vigorously at the suggestion, the air around her brightening in response to the pleasantly gray Raevan. "Yeah, I bet she does! Let's ask her, then! I bet, like... she'll know some good dark places to find them in, too."
The eagle girl would wait for the pi yao's lead before following, but she would follow closely and carefully. It would take a bit of concentration, but she couldn't afford to be distracted by the neat things in the store she still wanted to take a look at...
"Maybe dates are, uh... noc... umm... they only come out at night?"
