No. I get my news either direct from the source when I can, or small indipendant media.

What I mean is, does the whole Liberal vs. Conservative thing have to do with the mass media?

Media has everything to do with it. It's hard to determine how, or which side outweighs the other... The news tends to have a liberal agenda at times. Then again, most media companies are owned by Rupert Muroch, and he is more conservative...

I feel that the liberal agenda was made so that the conservative people would be more driven to vote in anger.

Well... let's put it this way. The reason why Republicans and Democrats are the only two candidates running is strictly because of the media... there are no other candidates who have as much money for advertising or media exposure.

I'm not talking about whos running. I'm talking about the attitude of those running. It seems like ever four years you get stuck with several people who claim to be all about the country an yet show a general attitude of being "Hey, atleast I'm not them"

I understand what you mean. It's kind of disappointing how democracy has turned out. Go communism!

Wheee!

Except communism is considered farther democratic... This is actually a republic.

I've been trying to debate over on the abortion thread, but the sheer magnitude of the heartlessness, coldness and utter cruelty there is dragging me down.

Well, it's a threat to them. You have every right, but they're going to argue you all the way. You're not horrible for believing in God, as you might have seen, someone else argued about souls, but he was pro-choice and the soul entered at birth so there was nothing to argue.

I used to post in that thread but it gets really crazy. I eventually figured that it wasn't worth the drama.

I've never understood why the founders of the U.S. wanted it that way. Maybe nobody was really comfortable with a true democracy, much less a communist society, which is what this country needs before it falls into an even deeper level of hell.

I think it may be because of the scale... true democracy requires everyone to vote on everything. This way, you vote for people to vote for you so you don't have to stop working every half hour to register a vote on which schoolbus the Vermont town of Jamaca should purchase with it's budget. (ok, a bit extreme case, but it's easier that way. and also easier to corrupt, since you only need to control a few hundred higher ups rather than every person in the country)
