To what HelterSkelterX wrote. I am on pit but the drum core im on is based a lot off rudimental music and such. Our drumers have a time trying to memerize it and i do wonder why alot of schools and cores dont use a lot of rudiments in their music.
But i must say, I play alot of different instruments and four mallet work is DIFFICULT!!!! its very hard and ive had issues with my grip. any suggestions?

I actually started playing percussion by learning rudiments and how to play with proper technique on the snare drum for a few years, then i got a set, and started learning how to actually play on the set, by getting set lesson's, but i was also getting lesson;s on the marimba, and occasionally piano, so i am a drummer, bur first and foremost i am a percussionist. biggrin
Drummer's just keep a beat, percussionists know how to make the set sound musical as well.

I play bells and bass marimba in front ensemble. I've been playing piano since I was in third grade, so after I got lifting down, it was an easy transition. Which reminds me of a conversation:
"Well, pit is the closest thing our band has to piano." "They used to have pianos in marching band? Did they march?!"
Smart people are smart I guess? sweatdrop

WOOT! Only quad player in my highschool band 3nodding 3 snares, 4 bases, 1 cymbal, 2 mallets, and 1 tenors.
I am still really new to it so I kinda suck but it's freaking sweet because it's like I am free to make up what I want to do and not have to be right with everyone else!
And it kinda sucks too because freedom means they expect alooooooooot more outta me, which I can't really do gonk
Percussion = life xd

Faithy Foo,
Percussion is life. Without it, what would a marching band be but a dis organized group of people with instruments.
