Fueled up from Kusanagi's fire, Asako spread her wings, and took Kusanagi's weight head on, sticking to the dragon's skin like a piece of gum. She stuck herself to the dragon, wrapping her wings around it, and flared up with all her energy, fire blazing out from herself.

Asako taunted, burning the dragon's scale.

Seeing Stratus move towards him, Chi-Linn let stratus grab onto the edge of the tail, but using momentum, he quickly wrapped himself around Stratus, dragging him downwards.

((Grr, I think I've finally hit a writer's block. I will be back to writing full paragraphs soon... Sorry for short posts D: ))

((Aye aye mama Stoic! *salutes*...Stoic is scaaaary eek ))

Kusanagi roared as the phoenix fire seared his scales, burning the sensitive skin underneath them. He folded his wings instantly and dropped like a stone, taking the bound firebird with him.
Kusanagi grinned through the pain. He could feel his strength ebbing quickly, but his humor would remain until the end.

((I'm going to say Lessir is out? can I write that up?))

Tura watched as the same float spell that had taken Quellar engulfed the water dragon.
The cold sensation on her forelegs told her the spell was wearing off as water found its way through her feathers.
With one powerful stroke of her wings she hurtled upwards, breaking the surface of the water just as the spell fell away. Crystal droplets mixed with silver shards as the shield burst apart, turning to dust on the wind. The gryphon angled her wings and caught an updraft, sending her higher into the air to take in the new battle situation.

(( Who is there left alive now? Wait, I mean defeated... Defeated... Not killed. twisted Am confused. X-D ))

Vix swooped upward, leaving great gusts of wind behind him. The feathered wings that which were on Vix appeared strange to be on a body of a snake that were already covered with scales. Reaching a higher altitude, Vix circled high above the others to observe the current situation, this gave Kin also a better view since they shared the same vision for this fight. Forgetting he was in a sealed off dome of energy, Vix almost hit the top but kept circling.

Kin thought to Vix, seeing through his sight as well as his own.

Vix reminded Kin. Kin heard Vix's warning but kept silence and began focusing his mind and concentrating all of his energy inside his body within one area. "Gather as many of the dragons together as you can. I have one last spell to cast for this battle." Kin whispered to his combatant allies near him.

(( By the way, after this battle, we were planning on splitting up right? Who is with who? O.0 I have a feeling I'm going to be left alone. =_= Oh, Stoic, I think we should get the real storyline going soon. Or at least a hint of it. ))

((No worries Azure, we're getting there. And I believe that all that's left of the opposing team is Kusanagi and Chi-Linn. Griffin, go ahead and fry Lessir. Blood, no worries about the writers block either, it's been hitting me pretty frequently lately. You just gotta sit there and stare at the monitor for like 10 minutes, eventually you'll come up with something good.))

Crap...

Stratus called out as the serpent dragon coiled around him, binding his wings and legs (all four).

Stratus puffed out his plumage, making himself appear several times larger than he was. He then let himself relax again very quickly. When he did dozens of feathers that had been knocked loose during the course of the battle fell away from his body.

Sai was still on one knee in the dirt on the lip of the arena, using his staff for support with his left hand. He stretched out his right hand towards Stratus and Chi-Linn. "Acer pluma. Validus ventus. Statim tractus." Sai said just loudly enough to be heard. With the first two spells he felt a slight drain on his energy, and with the last spell he felt as if his remaining energy had simply vanished, all of it at once. His vision turned dark along the edges and then black entirely. Sai fell over sideways, unconscious, his staff skittering away from where it fell.

Where Stratus remained in the air, wrapped in the coils of his opponent he saw and felt as each of the spells took effect. First, all of the feathers that had fallen from his body turned razor sharp, which he could tell by how they each took on a reflective sheen, like a knifes blade. Second, a powerful whirlwind came to life around them, catching the edged feathers and swirling them through the air along with it. Soon anything within that dervish would be sliced at probably hundreds of times in the span of but a minute. Third, he felt the teleportation spell take hold of him and he reappeared halfway across the arena, between Kusanagi and Chi-Linn. If the spell combo was enough to defeat the sinuous dragon he would turn and aid those fighting Kusanagi, if not then he would return to Chi-Linn and finish what he had started.

The sun was nearly at its peak since it was just past noon, and as Simurgh overflew the plains from her altitude, the shadow she cast on it was giant. Not that the bird herself wasn't enormous, standing nearly thirty feet tall, with lashing tailfeathers longer than any riverboat- of mythological proportions, to say the least. Upon her back was the mage who had summoned her seven years ago on the day she turned ten. Apprentice Sage and scholar Lamen Tvalhal of the northwestern peninsula lowered the hood of her cloak, revealing a mess of dull grey hair, buffeted by the strong high winds. She peered downwards at the land and spoke softly, her voice made inaudible by all the sound of her steed's flight: "Låne ut deres øyen, Heimdallr." Her equally grey eyes seemed to flash for a moment as her spell granted her farsight and she saw the Dragon Sage's city below, clear and defined in all its splendor.

She had come here today, like a few years ago, to celebrate the Dragon Festival together with the inhabitants. The Dragon Sage was also an acquaintance of hers- she had shared very fruitful discussion with him before. His knowledge was of great value. But Lamen and Simurgh noticed something off with the terrain, something changed.
The great avian's telepathic voice chimed through the mage's head.
She answered, intruigued.

They neared the oddity, seeing the forms of people in or nearby it- fighting. Simurgh's immense wings created loud, violent gusts as she landed, the shimmering grass around the chosen spot flattening from the air pressure. It was moist with whatever splashes or vaporized clouds of water had reached it from this distance which the Bonded had judged to be safe. "Thank you, Simurgh." Lamen said, climbing off once Simurgh had laid down so that her rider could dismount. 'There should be someone else around here, that can tell us what happened...'

((Here's the intro post to the NPC I was talking about, I'm too lazy to decribe her again sweatdrop ))

(("Hey! Sai!" Vilya was now close enough to call them.
Kaoru rolled up her sleeves and advanced on the crowd.
"All right people back it up! Give the feathered dragon some space!"
The crowd obliged slowly, drifting back against the merchant carts and doorways. Sai and the others were now free and Vilya made her way over to them.
"These are for you." She held out the three pouches filled with coins to Sai, Kin and Minatsuki respectively. "Turns out those two thugs we beat last night had bounties on their heads."
Kaoru sidled up beside her and looked the party over with a friendly smile. She was short for her age with deep red hair cut just to her shoulders. In contrast to her hair she wore an elegant tunic of different shades of blue. Aquis was a golden eagle, he perched on a nearby rooftop and watched his companion intently, his light brown feathers reflecting some of the morning sun and giving off a copper shine.
"This is Kaoru, she is the original owner of those items we recovered."
Kaoru bowed her head. "And you have my gratitude for returning what you recovered to me."))

((This is Kaoru currently))
"Hey!"
As if on que the elegant figure of a golden eagle appeared from over the brow of a hill. He was flying low to the ground, coming in fast and banking to land just beside the great Simurgh. The small girl leapt nimbly off his back and came to greet the new caster.
"You must be Lamen." She began cheerfully. "My name is Kaoru, my grandfather has told be much about you." She held out her hand in greeting as Aquis, the eagle looked up at the great bird towering over his regal head. True he was big for an eagle but only measured to about one third the size of the daunting Simurgh.
"My grandfather is currently fighting a group of combatants at the basin, I don't think it will last much longer, you're welcome to come and watch with me if you want. Brantalis will be more than happy to see you after the match."

Lamen smiled calmly, unsurprised, and nodded her head in greeting.
"A pleasure to finally meet you, Kaoru. The Dragon Sage had mentioned his talented granddaughter to me before. Conversing with him again would be an honor." She shook Kaoru's hand, looking towards Aquis with admiration while Simurgh crooned him a welcome.
"As for the battle..." The grey-haired mage did not enjoy seeing people fight each other, but her Bonded knew this- and discouraged it, so she intervened.

Lamen sighed audibly.
"Simurgh says I must see it." She told Kaoru, with humor in her voice- Simurgh picked up on the sarcasm and was almost tempted to n** Lamen's shoulder in retaliation.

Kaoru looked puzzled for a moment, then laughed.
"You two must have a strong bond." She said with a smile, signaling for Aquis to follow behind her.
"It's not too far, my grandfather told be to stay below the basin shields so we'll walk from here."
With that she began leading the way, looking ahead brightly as the afternoon sun started to descend from its pinnacle in the sky.
"I take it you're not much of a combatant then?" She ventured in a conversational tone.

((So sorry! O: *crawls out from mountain of homework load to post* ... Actually, Stoic stole Lessir doll *shakes Chi-Linn doll* But I will post for Asako and Chi-Linn.))

Chi-Linn's constriction was quickly broken at the sudden change in the size of the one being crushed. Without a thought, the serpent like dragon was caught up in the whirlwind. At first, he gave no thought about it as he could simply ride the wing, but when the unexpected bits of sharpened feathers started to embed themselves through his skin, he let out a roar as his blood splattered all over the arena. He fell head first, plunging in the water with a loud splash.

Asako puffed out her feathers and flames, pushing herself away from the dragon to the best of her abilities without Minatsuki's help. Though she had managed, what little energy she had reclaimed was all but gone; only thing she could do now was fly around.

At the same time, Minatsuki could feel her empty energy and stomach. Kneeling on the ground, she grabbed her shoulders, hugging herself and biting her lips, trying to control herself. She had drained too much energy from the previous battle, and now the match. Her power have also been acting up lately, ever since she began to travel with other combatants. Though frustrated, all she could do now was bite her lips and watch the creature fight.

"I do not fight voluntarily." She answered simply. "But that was a good guess."
She had used magic in violent ways several times from necessity, and even then, did not like it. She only relied on it because she was unable to defend herself otherwise. Magic should not be used to harm things... but some did not agree to this, and her bonded certainly felt it was important for Lamen to gain the status and renown that came with winning battles- in order to attain her goal of becoming a sage. Besides, the giant bird possessed a clairvoyance that Lamen could not doubt, so she went along with it... And she could not speak her mind in front of the granddaughter of one of those who would organize such magical fights.
"Simurgh and I have been together a long time." Lamen replied to Kaoru's previous comment, changing the subject, and then asked: "Is it not so for most happily bonded magus after awhile?"
The great avian strode slowly and in small steps besides Lamen, matching the mage's pace. She did not comment, preferring to let the newly met humans have an undisturbed conversation.
