Is there a reason Mauvians cannot know the civilian identities of opposing faction characters if both rpers are choosing to do this knowing the risks? I was under the impression that, knowing full well this places the character in danger by revealing this information, that it was up to the rpers to decide and face those real consequences. It has been this way for all other faction characters by why are Mauvians excluded for this? Also, what if they knew their identity before the civilian became powered?

It isn’t just Mauvians that can not know the civilian identities of other factions, it is a shop wide rule! If a powered individual were to learn the identity of one who is on the other side of things, they have a week to either side swap, or a new glamour will engulf them and they will not be the same person any longer, though will still retain their memories and personality. This must always be done with a plot sent in to the shop mule, and if there is a need, we can and have extended the window to two weeks, but again, that is with plot approval and must result in either a side swap or a new glamour! As Mauvians are powered characters, they fall under this rule as well, the information can be found in this thread, specifically here!
Quote:
If a civilian finds out about a Senshi's identity and later joins the opposing faction, what happens? Do they need to corrupt?
This is very iffy territory because it opens up a lot of plot holes. Technically, if a civilian knows about a Senshi's civilian identity and later awakens as a Negaverse agent, a glamour would appear to disassociate the Negaverse's knowledge of the senshi side and the civilian side's relationship, however the Senshi's memory would not be affected. This means, if the new Negaverse agent suddenly forgot, the Senshi would still remember and may realize something is wrong when the civilian/new agent doesn't remember. Typically we would like to request that if an unpowered civilian learns someone's powered identity, you keep it within the faction you intend to awaken them in. Anything else will always need a plot, and because of plot holes we will be very critical of approving it.

If a character on the opposing side learns someone's identity, how long do they have to swap sides before the glamour takes effect?
A character has one week to side swap after an enemy learns their civilian identity. These plots must always be sent in and approved. If you do not intend for your character to side swap, their civilian side will instead get a glamour; this means they stay in the faction they are in, but they suddenly are unrecognizable to people that knew them before. They don't lose any memories, but it is to protect them from the enemy that now knows their identity.

So... Weird question about knight uniforms.

How much plate mail (Those solid sheets of metal, like breastplates ETC) can knights wear?

How much chain mail can a knight wear?

I know Camelot is the most heavily armored of the Knights and wears European armor, but a knight themed on, say, Valkyries like Jupiter might wear a different style from Martian (Roman) and even Asian or high fantasy.

I'm mostly curious how much armor knights can wear and of each of the two main types.

Quote:
While the type and amount of armor is somewhat dependent on the style and rank of the Knight, a general rule of thumb is that the armor can make up a portion of the Knight's outfit but the planetary color and appearance theme need to be immediately noticeable and dominate the style. A page should not have much armor, a squire may have a bit of armor, a knight may have a decent amount of armor, and a royal knight can can have extensive armor.

All armor, provided it is thematically relevant to the Knight or can be incorporated in a way that doesn't detract from the Planetary appearance guidelines can be used for Knights! High fantasy or Nordic style armor can definitely be integrated into the outfit as long as it meets this criteria. While there is no set percentage of a uniform that can be armor (because of style differences), we would recommend that Pages have no more than 10%, Squires no more than 30%, Knights no more than 50%, and Royal Knights no more than 70%. These are rough estimates and have variability depending on design and style; if you have any questions about a specific design or set of armor, please feel free to PM the shop mule and we can work with you!

If one has the available tokens necessary for a purchase, can someone feasibly get alternate civ & alternate powered art in the same redeeming post or would the shop prefer to keep it to one piece of artwork purchased per month?

It would be possible to buy both in a month but depending on artist availability, there is a possibility that the art may not be picked up immediately and you may wind up on a waiting list!

So, say someone was allergic to cats. Would they be allergic to the Mauvians? Because I have this hilarious image in my mind of a future-Senshi-to-be-awakened just avoiding a Mauvian chasing them down as much as possible because they don't want to have a reaction.

Sorry, no! Mauvians may look like cats but they are genetically different and would not have the same DNA or allergens as a cat!

I have a question about the Star's Event Bingo.

When it says the only over lap is allowed between the complete 5 and complete 7 prompts, does this mean that you have to do four more separate rps/solos for the complete 1 and complete 3 prompts?

If the first four prompts can't over lap with the 5 & 7 then that means we have to do a total of 11 prompts, a solo, start an additional rp, start a battle, finish a completely unrelated to the starts rp, AND the claim a ticket rp has to be different too since they can't over lap correct?

So a total of 14 rp/solos/battles that are at 500 words each to be considers complete prompt wise, and two started rp/battles also at 500 words is the total?

Or am I off on this and in actuality only 7 prompts are needed to be complete + solo + battle start + rp start + rp completed + different rp for the ticket claim so rather then 18 rps/solos altogether it's actually 12?

For the 1/3/5/7 prompts, you only need to complete a total of 7 prompts! The 'Complete 5/7 Prompts' can use RPs and Solos that you have used to claim other prompts. At least four prompts must be completed to claim both the 'Complete 1 Prompt' and the 'Complete 3 Prompts', however you only need to complete one more prompt to be able to 'Complete 5 prompts' because of the available overlap.

OK, a SUPER IMPORTANT to at least me for past life worldbuilding (Allowing the shop too to give players a cap for world building)......

Agreein different p[er wpormg magic is a type of energy that is differemt per world (For example Mau'd magic might be 'cat' flavored energy, to use tradiotional sphere types)/, and placing the Cauldron at a IV (Affecting the full Universe's magic for power, ignoring the multiverse including the failed Parallelspre-modern staff since they're no longer available or affect the shop metastory)...

Where on the Kardashev Scale did Mau fall compared to Senshi and Knights? A .5 decimal is fair, as the only RL world reference is us 72 -.00076... We;'re a 0. To additionally note, this doesn't affect ability without Mau to travel interstyellar space so much as speed -- a non Mauvian assisted group might need colony ships, where Mau can employ teleporters, ETC.)

So... Yeah.

Yopu can learn a quick description of the Kardashev Scale here: https://youtu.be/9k-Kuc9esDI

But my question is, where on the Kardashev Scale was Mau, Senshi, and Knights? I ask because energy availability to a given civilizatipon/wonder/group scientifically affects that group's technology levels.

Given the magical nature of the shop, it is very difficult to use this specific scale to determine where a civilization may rank on the Kardashev scale. While it can be speculated both ICly and OOCly where a faction may have fallen on this scale in the past, this universe is magical in nature and breaks the constructs of understood science.

For the sake of plotting, there is no concrete IC information on the state of Mau or what is was capable of. Mau is known to be the most technologically advanced society and is a well beyond the limitations of what would be ICly acceptable. We have kept their abilities vague so far for IC and meta reasons but there may come a time when we explore this in the shop and can give more concrete answers.

Each civilization has different levels of technology so it is difficult to give a broad-spectrum answer; Knights are somewhat limited by what planet they are on, but they also have the universal power of the Code that they tap into. Senshi are predominantly limited to their own planet but each senshi may have different levels of technology they have unlocked. To keep things fair for gameplay, no player character should exceed Type 1. Space travel is unique to planets and how they choose to utilize this; some may have synced portals or require vessels to travel from world to world. Some worlds may utilize technology that uses energy outside of their world, or harvests resources from nearby worlds, but if this is intended to be used to any scale larger than improving their own homeworld it should be approved through plots first. No world should be written to be harvesting the energy of an entire galaxy, as this encompasses other worlds that may be in play and can force players into a specific canon that does not coincide with their own past world lore.

If you have any plots or desire that would exceed the outlines for a type one civilization, please send them in to the mule for approval!

What are Destiny City's Reptile Husbandry laws for non-venomous vs. lukewarm (Non-lethal mildly venomous) vs. Hot (Lethal venomous -- basboon vipers, variable bush vipers, ETC) vs. Non-venomous but still little bundles of murder (Read: Crocodilians like American Alligators, some monitor lizzies, caimans, ETC)?

What needs permits, what are illegal, what are legal without permits? For example the hognose snakes are all rear-fanged, no dangher to humans and in some areas are legal, some take permits, ETC, where some states alow certain non-venomous species with the right permits vs. areas allowing pet crocodilians or freaking gila monsters without permits. Whaty's the general stance in Destiny City in a loose sense? Basically Non-Venomous v. non-lethal but a biteww would make a sad time or itch ETC vs. My bite will kill you, unless you have antivenom vs. I wikll murder you in your sleep dangherous if not handled properly, like some boa constrictyors, monitor lizards, and anything with crocodilian in it's descriptripon).

Destiny City has its fair share of strange creatures running around without any explanation, so when possible there are all efforts made to ensure that only qualified individuals are bringing in exotic animals of any variety. Destiny City follows the standard rules that Virginia has in place for exotic pets of any variety.

In Destiny City specifically, endangered animals are not legal to own as pets. Venemous creatures that might otherwise fall under the 'legal' category by Virginia's standards may be kept as pets, however they must be registered and require a permit; owners must be considered proficient to care for them and tend to their needs or they will be seized. This does not mean characters could not illegally own these creatures, though!

nvm this question
PostPosted: Sat May 15, 2021 7:36 am
Do youma have any kind of shared language? Do they attempt to communicate with one another?

When officers give orders, can it then be presumed that all youma understand English, or is it something like -- officer gives an order, but chaos magic takes that command and imparts a compulsion to the youma, and the youma doesn't actually understand any language?

Basically, would you mind telling us about youma and language?

Youma do not have a universal language spoken between them, however individual youma may have their own method of communication (or lack an ability to communicate cohesively at all). Some youma may choose to communicate and some may not; most feral youma do not have an intelligence level above a well-trained dog, but humanoid youma may seek out conversation.

All youma will understand an order from a superior officer by nature of understanding intent over language, however standard officers have to speak the commands and cannot mentally communicate with any youma. It is assumed that all youma understand English, however there are easily cases where this might not be the case; it is only assumed for ease of game play.

If a player wanted a youma that did not speak or generally understand English, that would be fine; however, all youma would understand the commands they are given as if it were an instinctive duty regardless of whatever their spoken language is/was when they were a human.

About "mute" characters:

I'm nonspeaking IRL, and know quite a few other nonspeakers, and most of us don't use ASL. Hearing nonspeakers usually use AAC (augmentative and assistive communication), which is a broad range of tools and technology. I just type on my laptop, but other people use apps where you select words or symbols on a screen to form sentences, and still others use different methods from either of those.

AAC tools are highly personalized, and most of us consider our communication tools to be part of our bodies. It's common to refer to your AAC as your voice. So if an AAC user became a powered character, could their voice 'transform' alongside them to account for glamour rules, be used to invoke magic and stored in subspace when not in use? If this isn't a viable option, would it be possible to contact me about alternatives?

Secondly, no one I know self-identifies as "mute" and the term can be offensive. The preferred term is nonspeaking. Can you update your faction info threads to reflect this?

Thanks for the information!

A few years ago, there was an old MQ&A question that asked if characters that used sign language would have the ability to speak when powered; this question was adjusted to be put into the FAQ section of a few threads and the staff was not aware that the term ‘mute’ was offensive. We’ll go through the threads and adjust the wording!

The Questing Handbook is one of our threads that has not yet been updated but is planned to be in the upcoming months and will have the following information available when we are able to do so:

Characters who use any assisting devices (such as hearing aids, speaking aids, seeing aids, prosthetics, etc) can receive a glamoured version of their device while powered up. The device should have no additional function outside of being a powered version of the device they already had as a civilian to allow them to have access to it while powered up. Under powered uniform rules, if the device is damaged while powered, when they power down or power back up it will be fixed, and the civilian version will not have sustained any damage.

If a nonspeaking individual has an AAC device, when they power up they will have access to a powered version of it. If someone used a laptop while in civilian form, they may get a more compact version of it to make it more portable, and it would only have access to the program they use to speak with (unless otherwise approved through the mule). Characters can also get Personal Items that can have some magical abilities or function, so it would also be possible to have magically enhanced aided AAC devices; for example, a player might request a standard size laptop style device that can magically hover before them when summoned from subspace to allow them to type as if there is a solid surface beneath the laptop.

There are a lot of options depending on player choice! If you would like to use an aided device for your characters with no magical elements, you do not need approval for this; if you would like it to have some sort of magical element to it (such as the ability to hover as if there were a solid surface beneath it), you would need to send it in to be approved as a Personal Item, just so we can make sure the magical aspects all work out!

If you have any other questions, please let us know!

Can you please make a view only version of the Crown Token spreadsheet available? View only means that while the mod, or person who owns the spreadsheet, is the only one that can edit, players are able to track their own progress easily without having to frequently ask where they are at in points. It will also let us quickly find when the last time we claimed anything was, look back on past redeems, and find out if there were any months we missed.

I understand not making it available before, it would keep players from harassing others for CT. However, with the point system limiting characters and the inability to transfer tokens I don't see this request as being a problem.

At this point in time we are still uncomfortable with making everyone’s public tallies available, sorry! The GM and Mod Staff have discussed the topic and our options for it extensively, and in the past we’ve had enough players voice that they are uncomfortable with their Crown Tokens being posted publicly that we are unable to move our current list to public view for the shop. At present, the only way we could make a public list is by asking players to opt in to being added to this public list, and it would require a moderator to update two separate lists. Currently, we’re stretched a little thin and we are trying to focus on shop updates and the upcoming meta; we will not be able to maintain a second public list at this point in time.

Players are encouraged to keep their own list of Crown Token count, as well as a log of when their last claim date was; it might help players by recording this information in either their IC RP Item Log or their Growth Item log, whichever seems more convenient for them. If players lose the information or want to make sure their numbers are consistent with the staff records, please feel free to reach out to Noir Songbird, who updates the list, or any RP Mod or GM who can access the list. Players can also PM The Space Cauldron or In the Name of the Mule!

We will update the information in the Crown Token thread to reflect this information, and if things change in the future we will make a public announcement to reflect as much!

Since places like Charon, Triton, Io, etc are on the non-usable list (I presume due to the fact that they were the places of the inner/outer senshi castles in the canon!), could any geographical features on them be used for a knight of the associated planet?

For example, could any of Charon's features here be used for Pluto Knights, or Io's features here be used for Jupiter Knights?

Thank you!

No, sorry! Only features on a Senshi's actual homeworld can be used for Knight Wonders!

Sorry for the stupid question. But maybe a character/cap count thread? Like how we have a thread for keeping track of items and token counts?

Not a stupid question! While we will not be posting a publicly accessible thread where everyone is required to log their character cap, within the next few updates we may be able to create a thread in the Guild where players can optionally log their current character list and character cap points!

We respect that some players are uncomfortable with their number being posted publicly and will not force that on anyone. We ask that players send in their list of characters along with their rank and point count to the shop mule so we can cross-reference with our own records, however we are far from finished compiling the list.

Many players have characters who they have acquired, but have not yet gotten stamped, or have characters they have stamped and just haven’t set up journals for, and this has made it very difficult for staff to manage an easy list.

While we can set up an optional log just to make it easy for players who choose to do so to keep their records in one place within the shop, we still ask that when players claim for a new character, they PM The Space Cauldron with a list of their characters and rank so staff can better keep track of them and help them with calculating points if need be. We want to make sure our records are up to date and accurate, and need some help from our playerbase to ensure that!

We have a few updates planned to release this month, but ideally we can have a thread set up for this before the end of the month, and we’ll make an announcement when we get it up!

If certs are lost do to image hosting site issues - can a player in the shop request a new cert for a character?

Absolutely! You can request certs as often as you want or need them!
