Ping.

The back elevator doors swung open.

"We don't have time to wait..." Knights spoke softly to Jean. He leaned lazily against the wall, now fully clothed. His attitude might have been relaxed, but his eyes were awash with colour as they stepped out onto the first floor and made for the door.

"Yeah, but how much damage would we cause by interfering by ourselves?"

"Not even half as much damage that Sunstrike will cause if that...THING spreads any furthur." He spoke up a bit when saying Sunstrike, and paused in the middle of the floor, even if it did earn him an elbow in the gut. A little painfully he continued, rubbing the sore spot. "And you and I both know it'll get worse if anything else about him is discovered..."

They honestly didn't know what was happening up north, but they could sense when their leader was using heavy magic, and the pressure was stifling. And if THEY could feel it, who knows who else could.

If the others chose to ignore their presence, that was acceptable, they wouldn't go overboard to interfere if this was something Vahn wanted.

((For the sake of having something to do, I'm going to assume Knights and Jean are somewhere Owle can see them.))

Owle was geting kind of tired of this attitude of Vahn's. Like he didn't even care if he lived or died. Worse yet, his apathy was starting to affect Owle, too...she was beginning to give up on being able to do anything to snap him out of it.

She mumbled something about needing to stretch her legs for a minute, and walked off a little ways. She just needed to be away for a while, someplace where she could vent her frustrations...

...I wonder if I could find any string around here...

"Oh!"

She had almost walked into Knights and Jean. "Hello."

Trying to recover from the shock they had given her, she asked the first thing that came to mind "What brings you two here?"

She hadn't expected to see them again so soon, to say the least.

....maybe they had string.

((Everyone please remember that it's still the same day. We're in the early evening now, standing in the garden - Owle, Jean and Knights most likely in front of the building -, the fight between Vahn and Knights was before midday.))

Rubbing her neck, Lucind watched Owle walking away, then glanced over at Vahn. She didn't need to see his face to know he wished to be someplace else too.

"So, let's get over with it..."

((I will assume its my turn))

"Very good, we shall get it over with," the Preacher said.

He pulled small folder from his robes and sat it flat on the table. He pulled out a squared peice of wax paper no bigger than the flat of the back of his hand, and from his shirt pocket came a white tube. He spread it on the wax paper carefully, concentrating completely on the work. The paste was perfectly clear, but smelled acrid, burning the nostrils. When he was finished, there was an eight pointed star surrounded by an octagon of ankhs. Inside the eight pointed star, he painted runic letters in extremly small with a brush, much like an expert caligrapher. In an ancient, runic tongue unearthed from the temple, it said, "Let No Evil Consume Thee." He picked up the paper gingerly, placing it on his palm face-up.

"Now Vahn, if you would please expose the back of your affected arm, and we can get this over with,"

Turning his head to the side, he obeyed quietly enough, even as the bandages around hsi entire right arm began to fall away.

Once more, it was revealed in all it's glory... or dismal appeareance. Heavily scarred and looking as if the flesh were held together by boot string, Vahn held the offending arm out to the priest, showing the back of it.

The mere 'release' and presence of it could be felt slightly.. nearly stifling, as if something underneath the surface were trying to make itself known.. most likely reacting to this former priest of Ymir.

This damned body of mine... how much has it been through... how much more do I have to go through... just to...

"Your show now."

With a mixture of curiousity, fascination and revulsion in her eyes, Lucind followed the rite, staring at the exposed arm.

((Really time to get done with this scene.. XD;; ))

"Be calmed."

There was no time to waste, the seal was slapped face down upon the back of Vahn's arm the moment he left it exposed. The acid would sting despite the preacher using his hypnotic power to dampen the pain. The preacher's power surged into the shaped acid burn, causing it to glow like a neon light. From every point of the star a line of spider web thin light extended over his flesh until they reached his shoulder or wrapped around his arm to connect. Another burn would form on the top side of the arm, light extending from it as well. A shard of darkenergy flew violently from the wounded limb, striking the preacher in the cheek, leaving him a little bloody but severly burnt.

"Stand Back, Take cover now!"

It wasn't working, whatever was inside of him was already too powerful for the seal. Another set of shards flew from the arm, one struck the preacher in the chest, forcing him to split blood. The preacher realized if he didn't do something drastic, the seal would fail and the people nearby might get hurt. He pressed his palm with renewed vigor, and spoke in Latin, a few of the words were obscure, but it amounted to using pure flesh to nullify evil. There was one last healing spell, to reinforce Vahn's arm and make it whole again, letting it heal somewhat more of its own accord rather than be held on a shoe string by Ymirs flesh. All in all, Vahn's arm would probably come through looking quite normal, that alone would make the preacher proud.

There was a wave of light before the preacher flew across the garden, hitting a wall. Blood ran from his mouth, his robes were smoking, the left side of his face was burnt, and a charred stump was all that remained of his right arm.

" Is it sealed? Is everyone all right?" he asked, before passing out.

Knights blinked as if noticing the others for the first time, then looked down at the small, blue-haired female.

His head went to the left, and to the right.

Oh... He continued to look at the female, Owle, was her name right? And then back up to the participants, one hand on the door. They seemed engrossed in what they were doing.

Then there was the flash. And the door was left swinging, all three people gone.

A belated..."I don't know if taking Owle like that would be part of the rules, Knight..."

An equally belated, and more distant, "Shuttup! I know what I'm doing." Would answer her.

Currently the little winged blue-haired girl that was Owle, was being kidnapped.

"Whoa!" Owle shouted as she suddenly found herself being held by Knights, who was running as if all of hell was at his heels. Which, if Vahn had noticed what was going on while the purification ceremony was throwing him into a wall, might well be true in a few moments.

"What the hell?!" she exclaimed, twisting and turning in Knights arms. She wanted to be put down, but she also wanted an explanation, first.

"Where are you taking me? Put me down!"

To punctuate this, she pounded him lightly with her fist.

"Rrrraauugh----!"

The scream that tore itself right out of his throat was nothing compared to the amount of pain that was running through his entire right arm at that moment. It literally felt as if something were trying to force it's way out of his arm, like an entirely new entity... and he could feel the weak flesh buckling.

Which is when the shards began flying outward.

Damn this...

What do we have here...

Damn this!

Now this is interesting!

"DAMN!"

Ah--

The wave of light would wash over the room, even as Vahn stood against the wall, which was slightly cratered and dented in from his weight and the maount of force that had thrown him.

But his right arm.... was still smoking... but it might as well have been brand new. Not a single etch or mar against it.

"Told myself I'd never get any work done...jeez."

A slight stabbing sensation as he realized something was wrong. He could feel it nagging him in the back of the head, like some unknown buzz.

There was no picture, no holographic plead for help coming from a tincan, but he knew why he was feeling it.

"Owle...?"

((In fact...we're in the garden...but well, doesn't matter anyway))

She hurried over to the preacher, feeling lightly sick at the smell of burned flesh.

"..."

Vahn seemed to be okay. More or less.

"She walked around to the front I think.." Maybe he felt somehow that Owle had just been kidnapped - but Lucind didn't.

So she just went to get a first aid kit and her brother: to take care of the preacher's ugly wounds or at least make sure they stayed sterile and to carry him into the hummer. Larhien would then bring him to Latent's hospital, after his sister calmed down the injured, telling him that the rite had beens successful.

If his mind allowed, she would as well use a ni wah, a song of meditation which could block the pain for a short while.

Finally, Lucind went to look after Vahn.

"Is he even still alive?"

He rose to his feet, picking himself up after a bit as he held the now tenderized and sore arm against his body. Yellowed eyes looked on to the returning Siren, even as he stared at the blackened ground of the spot the explosion had taken place. Splotches of blood were still there.

"So much of living a normal life..."

The stub protruding from had been well wrapped to staunch the blood flow, it was almost lucky the sacrifice burnt his arm away, as the severe burns actually helped close off the veins and arteries. Nevertheless, there was still blood flow.

"I'm perfectly alright," the preacher said, standing himself up with left arm, "I wasn't mortally wounded. Would someone mind getting me my staff and I'll be on my way."

Normally, the wound to his chest would have collapsed his lung, but some of the healing powers he had used to help Vahn had prevented that and had made it a rather minor wound. He approached Vahn. There was still blood on his lips, a slight trickle down his chin.

"And you!" he said,

His eyes lit up as spoke, he looked far older now, and more frightening because of his facial burns. His left arm shook in the air like he was some mad deranged prophet.

"I had to pay with my own right arm to seal that demon inside you, because you've been feeding of it of your own free will! Young man, I suggest you and denounce your hatreds and find forgiveness, even if you must execute justice and protect the world. Or even my own right arm won't keep you from being consumed by that thing inside you."

Then he calmed down.

"My staff please,"
he said weakly, "I have other matters to attend to. No time for hospitals."

"--!" Vahn stared down at the preacher, surprised and unab le to come out with a reply as he felt pangs of guilt.

He owed this guy a lot after all... he felt like a child just admonished by an adult.

"Yea.. I got you." He finally said softly, relaxing again, as he ran a hand along the back of his neck.
