::Deity slid around the counter and into the kitchen area. It was weird to call it a room, since it was as secluded from the rest of the furnishings as one of the tables were. He liked it that way - there were too many doors in Earthling architecture, it was unnecessary. Before long the quiet Orinian had strewn the fixings for a sandwich across the countertop. A small, unsliced loaf of bread, prepared roast beef, a block of cheese, an onion and a small jar of pree-chopped peppers. As Kenta began to speak, Deity took up a knife and started cutting into the bread atop a board, hidden eyes focused on his work.

The tall one paused where he was with his nephew's question, his hands freezing in their postures as though some unseen force had taken a snapshot of him, freezing him within that moment in time. It lasted only that moment, his stillness broken first by his face rising to see the boy's, then his hands a moment later as his eyes returned to let them finish their task. He pulle dopen the package of beef, again keeping quiet a few seconds after the query. This time, however, the pause was to allow him time to formulate his response.::

That's true.

::He began simply, gently folding slices of meat over eachother as he layered them over one side of the bread. It wasn't like him to put forth any remark about how bluntly Kenta had worded his thoughts.::

...his desire was for Deity to forfeit beforehand, but...

::He shrugged, flashing a brief smile without looking up. All but the most dense would see right through such an expression - he was wearing it, not feeling it. The smile was an attempt to keep the mood light, even regarding the subject under discussion.::

...he never got it.

::He concluded on a light note with his head down again, his very tone inviting Kenta to continue the conversation - he didn't want to be short with his future nephew on the premise that it might be uncomfortable to talk about his own death. Which, in all honesty, it wasn't. Not to the point of being unbearable.::

Kenta didn't bother to show any sign of anticipation as he waited. He didn't even make a show of noticing how Deity paused at his question. It was as though Pygmalion had become a statue before the young kitsune's eyes. Fortunately that wasn't the case, as Jade would not be likely happy about that particular situation.

He returned a level gaze to Deity when their eyes met, and only slightly averted his eyes a moment before the Orinian could return to his sandwich - an act of deference.

When Deity finally responded, Kenta's ears perked to indicate he was paying attention, but otherwise he did nothing by way of responding. He knew that there was more to hear, and simply let the brief pause pass between them.

Choosing to ignore his uncle's body language, he took a moment to form his own response to the answer he received. Tali killed Deity because Deity didn't surrender? Was it really that simple, Kenta wondered. He knew Tali to be a very proud man, not at all humbled by the considerable amount of power he actually had. Up until that moment, he hadn't realized how crippling that pride could be. Sure, it would have been an act of pride to kill Deity one way or another, but if Tali only did it because Deity did not stroke his ego, that was sort of a different matter.

At the same time, if that's all there was to it - a forfeit, a concession, a surrender, whatever you called it - Kenta had to ask the obvious.

"Why not?"

Perhaps lost amongst the tenseness of the conversation the green tressed mage had arrived behind them with nary a sound. Tucking a swath of her hair behind her ear she smirked at the young man's question.

"That is a question that has been asked for eternity. Feelings of entitlement have endured longer than those who have posed the questions. Conceding is likened to prostrating one self and taking it up the rear. But I surmise these are just my observations as a bystander. "

Balancing a coffee mug across her fingers she she sighed.

"I'm sorry...I shouldn't blame you. It seems to be an in bred part of your psyche's. In the animal kingdom it is know as territorial-ism. Displays of superiority are something that civilization can never overcome. Or is civilization just our interpretation of the same concept."

Frowning she bit her tongue as if it was well spring of her outburst. Adjusting her glasses closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Sorry Deity, its nice to see you out and about. This place as looked even ghost town-ish with your down time"

His receiver was inclined as to not respond and thus Samayou would dispel himself from this realm. The realty around him breaking away as he reached into the fog of energy, relocating himself just outside CO. His stomach a little upset from the travel, no matter how many times he did Planar Walking would always not sit well with him. His body shaking off a little ash whilst his granite digits gripped the front door. His movements silent like a grave as he walked into the main bar and let the door slam behind him. His large frame taking up the entire door way as he glanced around, his senses falling into place as he readjusted his physical body back into the realm, to others it would appear as if his entire body went static for a moment then reformed. His skin was still hot with energy as he stepped down the steps and into the main table area, letting the light glimmer on his outfit.

A pair of thick combat boots stepped gently onto the wooden floor, draped over by black belted jeans. His upper body only had a pair of leather bands in an X formation and his face was wrapped only in chains. The over all strange outfit was a casual combat attire for him and wore it almost all the time. It also usually freaked out his enemies when they attacked him, it was weird to stare at the face of your foe and only see metal chains. Sama would glance about the room as his eyesight returned to him allowing him to recognize the patrons.

::The tall boy was nearly done building his meal when Kenta pushed a little further, into territory Deity was unfamiliar with. He wasn't uncomfortable, being questioned in such a manner, but he was still just as confused as he had been these past couple of weeks. The reason behind his refusal to surrender against his brother was a mystery Deity himself was still trying to solve. He wasn't even positive he could lie his way through it. If he was suicidal, then why didn't he merely kill himself when he awoke in his quarters after his resurrection? If he valued hs own life, why didn't he give up?

For a few seconds the tall Orinian stared quiety at his completed sandwich, a few toppings and slices of beef hanging over the edges. He hummed softly in mock contemplation - he was stalling. A moment prior he had sensed someone approach. He didn't care who it was, just so long as their arrival would provide some level of misdirection. It could even be Taliman. The next best course of action was to simply ignore the question and eat the sandwich. Maybe I could answer with my mouth full, he asked himself in a somewhat forced joke.

As fate would have it, Epithany emerged from behind Kenta - better yet, she took it upon herself to comment to great lengths on the subject at hand. The Tonepian's eyes were quickly drawn to the mage as he rose the sandwich from the board - forgetting to cut it - and sinking his teeth into one end. That might've been too obvious, he thought, only then realizing how enthusiastically he'd diverted his attention to his new guest. His hurried body language gradually shifted into something more relaxed as Pith continued to speak - he was just happy that she answered the question for him, in a sense.

As his jaw worked at the bite in his mouth, Deity nodded deeply both in greeting to Epithany and in response to her apologetic conclusion. He'd have thanked her if his reason for doing so wasn't for the most part unknown. He merely shook his head with a grin and a shrug before placing the sandwich back and down and reaching for the knife. He worked gently to slice it into three equal sections before taking up the bitten slice and taking a second bite. With a courteous grunt - if you wanted to imagine such a thing - he nudged the cutting board toward his guests.::

Blinking dimly at the reception of her awkward interjection into the conversation she smirked. Following the tall man's gesture she shook her head with a warm smile tapping her mug with her index finger.

"Don't mind me. I came more for a refill tea. It appears I haven't been keeping my stores very well stocked and I have run out. I'll have to harvest some from my garden later."

Sensing the otherworldly arrival, she turned and bowed her head in silent greeting to Samayou. Flipping aside the loose tresses that hand fallen in front of her gaze she continued into the kitchen preparing a pot of afternoon tea. Steeping the leaves in the water she turned to the growing crowd of men.

"Any of you care to join me with a cup?"

The troubled look on his face when Miss Pith spoke up announced his wariness of the tension that may mount upon her opinion. Having not yet drawn the conclusion that Deity's actions were selfish pride and nothing more, he was reluctant to agree with her. At the same time, it could be just as simple as that. Kenta preferred to think otherwise.

At least Miss Pith was a decent diplomat. The rest of what she said was less severe, even if it did still pin the fault on Deity and Tali.

But Kenta wasn't satisfied. Deity seemed to be about to give him what he assumed would be a better answer. In any event, it would have been from the horse's mouth so to speak. Miss Pith's interruption, though not unwelcome, seemed to have the effect of changing Deity's mind on what he was going to say; made no less evident by the almost hurried manner with which he had bitten into the sandwich, now cut in three sections and being offered by the host to the guests.

Deciding it was never a bad idea to eat when hungry, Kenta picked up the center piece, but decided to continue the flow of conversation first.

"In terms of territoial-ism, the entire fight makes no sense," he began. "For starters, Tali-ji doesn't live on Earth, nor this planet fall within the reaches of his empire. Even if he did come out here to assert his superiority, it was less an instinct than a meditated thought. He could have left Deity-ji alone and no one would be the wiser. A lot of people would actually be happier I'd think.

"Then again, Deity-ji called Tali-ji out for his assault on User, so maybe..."

He mulled the thoughts over, but seemed to be coming up with nothing. It was only as he began to sink his teeth into the sandwich that he remembered something. His palate was quite sore with him, and he almost drooled everywhere as he withdrew the sandwich, bruised by his teeth.

"But User called Tali-ji out of his own will. Tali-ji hadn't done anything to provoke him at all. According to Tousan anyway, User's injuries were in effect self-inflicted, but that's allegedly why De-you," he decided it was pointless, and a bit rude, to refer to Deity as though he weren't standing right there, "challenged Tali-ji in the first place. I guess the first question to ask then is was User's fight with Cado the real reason you called Tali-ji out?"

Samayou could not only see but feel the discomfort that Deity had, it was one that the big brute was concerned about. After death emotions can be confusing and simply moving on was Deity’s way of dealing with it so it seemed and so the black Devil stepped in, cross phasing of course. His presence was other worldly known but no visually till he simply faded in next to Kenta, his hand falling gently on the young mans shoulder. Jumping realities from one room to the next as his pale eyes fell on the now living Deity.

“No more Kenta such thoughts are trivial in the end for dwelling on what was and why can only bring up memories, both pain and joy. Deity did what he did and we should leave it at that, how can you pass judgment on or question a man who simply followed his heart?”

Samayou smiled at deity and even with granite tough and cracked face the gesture was warm hearted. The Devil’s very presence would lift the spirits of his friend and resonate raw strength. It was funny how he had the effect of actually making people feel safe when he was around, odd a Paladin’s Aura would happen to be one of his as well.

“Did you sleep well Deity? Hello Pith and yes I would not mind a cup if you would brew me one please. I hear tales your tea is rather good, is this true?”

His grin becoming a childish smirk for a brief moment before turning back to Deity, his expressions once again demonstrating a tad of pity for the boy. The lad would be proud and refuse such feelings towards him of course but the Gate Keeper could not help it but feel sorrow for him…what he went thru few survive.

Steeping the leaves in the water she peered back toward entrance to the kitchen overhearing Sama take her up on her offer tea.

"Ah another tea connoisseur. Sadly you are missing out on my special blend, but I've managed to concoct something worthwhile with the Orion's stocks"

Behind her an array of different tea separate into baggies, some transplanted from her room.

"Smell that aroma. I added some orange peel and few other spices."

Sifting through the cupboards she produced a mug for the big man.

"I hope this is to your liking. It was experiment, but in my experience these flavors shouldn't conflict.

At that point the kettle began whistle shrilly.

"Cross your fingers."

::The boy couldn't really back the argument held by the man of black, but he didn't want to refute it aloud. His own confusion on the subject at hand left him without answers to a lot of the questions he was being asked, and some of his responses would only bring about even more confounding questions. At first he wasn't terribly opposed to discussing the matter, but the more one pried the less compelled he felt to participate.

Proverbially backing behind Tamashii and using him as a shield, Deity quietly nibbled on his half of the sandwich as Epithany started brewing tea for herself and the man of black. It occured to Deity that he was thirsty as well, though at the moment tea wasn't his cup of.....nevermind. He had a bottled coffee drink waiting for him in the fridge somewhere, so after leaving his wordlessness to linger a few seconds longer he replaced his food upon the cutting board and turned around.

His lack of response to Tama's question was perhaps unwarranted, but he also showed no acknowledgement of it - whether he even heard it or not he didn't show on his face as he stepped away and reterived his beverage from the refrigerator. He made his way back to the group with the bottle to his lips a few moments later, eyes wandering curiously for anyone else who might make an appearance.::

{{Did we have a posting order, if not I’m going to slip in to respond to Pith.}}

Samayou watched Deity’s movements with a careful gaze, the effects of death lingered from what it seemed. The young Orion did not respond to his question be it out of discomfort or maybe Deity simply did not like Sama as much as he had originally thought. Samayou was older than him he knew that and had always tried to be a pleasant friend as best he could, Skiro had not left a good reputation for him to follow Skiro found ways of prying into people’s lives whilst Samayou simply tried to survive his own.

Be it discomfort, hunger, or dislike that kept his mouth shut it was not the Gate Keepers job to pry answers from a boy who did not want to speak, after doing what he had Deity deserved to be left alone and Sama respect that more than anyone.

His attention snapped back to Pith quietly, her teas concoction ready for enjoying by the sound of a whistle. It was at this moment he remembered a scene in a movie he once saw, believe it or not he did enjoy the luxuries of the modern world from time to time.

Jet Li’s Fearless if he recalled right.

“Tea is Tea Pith, be it they all have different flavors and vary they all aim for the same accomplishment. I am sure it will be good if given care and attention.”

There was a squeak as the handles in the shower were turned and the water shut off. The liquid gurgled down the drain as the curtain was pulled aside and a soft hand reached out and grabbed the waiting towel. It was swiftly wrapped around the toned body, and then held in place as the arms reached overhead to stretch.

"Ahh....that feels better."

As she left the bathroom and headed into the main room, Kirra paused next to the bed and picked up a pair of glasses from the nightstand. As she perched them on her nose, teh young woman smiled. It'd been a while since she'd had this much time to herself. Most of the time, the world saw Jade, but it seemed that the poor thing had been having trouble coping after the Wesley brother's battle. It's not like Deity's dead...well, anymore. But she seemed to be uncomfortable around the demon-boy as of late.

Kirra shrugged it off. Not that it was really a bad thing, it just means that I've got more time in the forefront. As she'd been thinking to herself, she had dressed in a dark red button-down shirt, which looked a bit too large for her. Likely it was one she had claimed from the Tonepian. The top button was open, allowing a generous view of her breasts without being too much. Then it was a pair of jeans that ended halfway down her calves, showing off the muscles and also her heels that strapped around her ankles.

With a flip of her still damp hair, Kirra took to the elevator and rode down to the main level. When she walked out, she was pleasantly surprised to see that there was actually a crowd in the main room. Deity naturally, Miss Epithany, Samayou, and Kenta.

Her tail swung gently behind her as she walked over to join the crowd, her heels clicking on the hardwood floor. She smiled sweetly at everyone in way of greeting as she walked over to Deity himself, lightly running a hand over the back of his shoulders, before stealing the sandwich he had made and taking a big bit out of it.

::The boy was quietly enjoying his lunch, deciding it better to focus on his food rather than the sudden, uncomfortable silence that had befallen the group around him. Every breath, shift or movement otherwise made by someone around him blared like an angry motorist abusing the horn on the highway. Perhaps I should just leave, Deity figured, assuming his presence was making the others uncomfortable. Anyone who witnessed the brawl against Taliman were probably looking for any oppurtunity to use the old "you look like you just saw a ghost" joke, but all kidding aside he felt certain that some might be earnestly freaked out.

The quiet Orinian only got a step or two into his departure before a familiar face made her way down. The scent of hot water and body wash filled his nostrils before most people would even realize someone else had arrived. Only catching sight of her in his periph, Deity held his face down, as far away as he could be from everyone else in the room without physically leaving them. He greeted his younger lover as she entered earshot.::

Evening, love--

::He rose his head at the touch of her hand, turning to see her.....not where he thought she'd be. He turned the other way, to his left, to see his sandwich was gone. Behind a sleek pair of glasses, sly green eyes fluttered at him as Kirra took a bite from his sandwich. If he'd looked sooner he'd have known - Kirra was far less modest about showing off Jade's body than was...well, Jade. Her very style of dress was a distinction. Sometimes the boy wondered if she even liked weraing clothes in the first place, as she seemed to avoid them whenever appropriate. Sometimes when not.

Back to reality. Deity was quick to correct himself with a sheepish smile thrown on, apparently not wanting to attach that petname to his beloved's slightly unstable second carnation.::

...Kirra.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 15, 2010 12:04 pm

His ears honed in on her heartbeat as she prepared to enter the room, his nose picking up the scent of fresh bath water as she walked in. Her steps gently but with a purpose, her motions defined and graceful, trickery in each flowing motion. Samayou was never aware Jade had a second Personality/Life Force/ Division however one wished to label it but it was clear to him now something was off. He felt like someone had possessed Jade’s body and walked in, that or the little girl was really wanting her love’s attention now. Regardless it was not the Devil’s position to say anything other then give her a pleasant smile from his stone stern face. After that he simply awaited the arrival of his tea, and later today he had to have a talk with Deity, a talk that Samayou had to do not because he cared about Deity that was only half the reason, because he had been ordered to do it by a higher power then anyone in this room.

He wasn’t looking forward to it but such things could wait.

Kenta was miffed, but silenced by Tama's remonstrance. In truth, he was offended, but it was not his place to outwardly and aggressively retort to an elder; even though some of these elders were closer to his age now. For everyone else, these things might be taboo. They might hurt to think about, or shameful to talk about. Sure, that was a possibility, and the fact that it was the recent past didn't make things much better. In fact, all considered, it might as well have all been perceived as the present.

For Kenta however, this was history. Alienated as he generally felt in Orion now, it was still a place he would consider a home. It was a place where family and close friends gathered. They sometimes told stories of the old days - these days and before - and sometimes they just caught up. Some just wanted to see the others without exposing themselves, but the fact was that they all gathered. Later, Kenta would only be able to hear the story as it was remembered decades from now. How could he pass up discussing one of the biggest events in Jade Ba-chan's life? It was a rare opportunity to hear the story from its source without outsider bias, analysis, or broken memories.

So he did not think it was trivial, and he did not care if it hurt to talk about - rather selfish on his part. He was not passing judgment on anyone, and what point was there to gaining experience if you didn't talk about it? Tama hadn't convinced Kenta to give up at all. He didn't know how Deity-ji's answers might affect everyone, but it would be silly to think that no one would be moved by revelation anyway. Whether others passed judgment or not was out of Kenta's power, but if he could learn something - anything - new about his family, he wasn't going to let discomfort stop him.

However, by the time he shook off his shame and donned his resolve, Deity-ji was moving to leave. So caught up in his own thoughts, the young man hadn't even noticed his aunt, and wouldn't have had Deity-ji not greeted her. She smelled clean and looked...inviting. This made Kenta rather uncomfortable until he realized it was Kirra-ba. He had completely forgotten that his aunt's body was inhabited by two souls. Or was it more accurate to say that one soul was so violently divided that it manifested two separate personalities?

Either way, the fact that is was Kirra-ba and not Jade ba-chan made her appearance tolerable and inoffensive. Taking advantage of Deity-ji's preoccupation with her, Kenta tried again to speak with his uncle.

"Deity-ji," he said cautiously, but without reservation, "I know that you might not want to talk about it, and it's even possible that you don't have any answers right now. Still, I have to ask you personally because only you can tell me. Why did you call Tali-ji out? I always thought you'd have been happy were he to just leave you alone to live on Earth peacefully. You only ever fought him before because he forced your hand, and you only ever survived because of some cosmic streak of luck. Knowing this, you still chose against what I assume is your better judgment to challenge him to a life-or-death battle, and from what I was told, it was because of User. But was that really it, or was it just an excuse?"
