Jade was trembling. Her green eyes were wide with fear, and near panic, despite Sir Aarons attempt at soothing their worry. Deity had said his brother was bluffing about his power, yet the woman had chosen to believe Taliman instead wanting to be proven wrong. Instead, the emperor displayed enough reserve strength that shook her to the core. No way. There was no way this was possible, to have someone of that kind of strength outside legends and stories.
The Saiya-jin's eyes never left the battlefield, darting back and forth as they followed the two brothers. Tali was toying with Deity now, bouncing him back and forth in a dirt coffin like a pinball. Until he went crashing into the earth and the redhead launched a multitude of ki beams after him. Her mouth hung open, as if awaiting a scream that never came to emerge from her throat, her body leaned so far forward that at any moment the woman might just take off.
But she didn't. Something held her back, but whether it was fear, honor, or something else entirely, she didn't move. She waited, hoping beyond any possible hope that things might turn around again. And at first, what seemed like Deity's hope for survival scared her more than anything thus far.
Fighting her weakening knees, Jade only managed a choked whimper at the feeling of that familiar darkness. Panic welled up inside her that the Devil might be emerging once again, a monstrosity she had witnessed more than most. But there was no chaotic energy and hunger to kill, and after taking a moment to calm her instincts Jade realized that it was not the Devil, but Level Five. At this, she allowed herself a faint spark of hope.
Still, there were so many risks with it that it was his last resort. If he failed to take out Taliman now...
Closing her mouth, Jade still trembled at the might of the two brothers, one whom she loved, the other she despised. How could she ever hope to compete against something like this? Their power wasn't just out of her league, she wasn't even in the same universe. Even while contemplating this, a fraction of a smile played at her lips, though it was hardly noticeable for the worry on her face.
Deity was dishing it back though as hard as he had taken it, and then some with interest. Taliman's voice raged unintelligibly to her ears from the great distance, followed by a severe scream of pain from the elder brother. The sound sent a chill down Jade's spine, unused to seeing Deity like this in battle. But it was a fight to the death, was it not? The fear was so real to it, but the concept seemed almost foreign. After all, how many times had both brothers fought, and both lived when one shouldn't have?
Jade was drawn from her thoughts by the explosion, her eyes blinded by the light and she shut them in reaction. She didn't see the shockwave that rolled through the hovering dust towards them, only felt it through the high winds that knocked her backwards, where she would have fallen if it wasn't for Sir Aaron's hand.
Only after she had recovered her balance somewhat, did she opened her eyes again. Still partially blinded her sight was blurred, but spotting Deity was easy with his red ki bright against the smokey backdrop. Blinking to clear her sight faster, she watched as he lowered himself down before releasing Level 5.
As soon as he collapsed she made as though she would rush to him, already focusing her ki to her hands. It was not the normal ki one could produce and multiply for battle, but that which flowed through her body as naturally as blood, her very life energy.
But even as she made ready to rush to Deity and heal him, she hesitated, glancing towards where Taliman had last been seen. She wasn't sure it was over yet, and her interference now would only bring more risk. With difficulty, the young woman forced herself to wait a bit longer. Deity was still alive at the moment, and Tali was nowhere to be seen. Question was, was it enough?
((Wow, long post is long. And Ichi...that was my reaction too. xD))

((Please note this isn't my post for Epithany, so I still plan on posting as her))
Half shrouded in a hill of sand and glass the spark sputtering torso of a heavily wounded figure in a formerly sleek powered armor lay prostrate upon the ground. The distance this thrown was not evident save for the fact they had clearly been fleeing the epicenter of the bouts final attack. Save for hiding them self optically there had been little reason hide an energy signature with all of the powerful bodies present.
Shaking heavily the smell of overcooked meat and charred silicon and plastic wafted about the wretched form. Having been cauterized by the intense heat and energy there was no loss of fluids despite the complete lack of lower appendages and bottom half of colon. They were not long for is world.
Materializing about the battered form, 4 presumably similarly clad figures appeared around their wounded companion. Speaking in a clearly female voice the the left most figure spoke.
"The data you acquired was excellent...."
The center right most figure spoke next.
"You did not reveal your location. That is to be commended."
The far right spoke next.
"Did you acquire the samples?"
Extending a shaky hand the wounded figure presented 2 pristine vials.
The center left figure crouched down and retrieved the vials.
"You have been exemplary...had you not been wounded you would have made it into the elite corps. Sadly as you are is...expendable. At least you can pass on knowing you fulfilled your duty."
As the final figure rose to their feet all 4 of them blurred from view leaving the wounded form behind.

Amidst all of that chaos the looming Cado remained, doing what he did best. Which happened to be looming around like a semisentient statue. The supposedly emotionless bodyguard had returned to the ground now that most of the fighting was done with. He seemed a little dirter than he was before everything started but seemed not at all plagued by discomfort.
The big man had maintained the assigned perimeter, preventing the spectators from interfering with the brothers' duel. But was it over just yet? He still made no acknowledged move to stray from his post so one could only guess that the rules established at the beginning of this battle were still prevelant.

[Caine]
The huge grin plastered across the Saiya-jin General's face shrank and contorted into something still like a grin, though less happy in nature. Rather, it was something like excitement and disbelief held together by the adhesive of confusion. The expression was seemingly slapped off his face by the blinding light that forced a curse from his lips as he turned away from the sky. The spots before his eyes preoccupied him only long enough for him to realize that he didn't notice he couldn't feel Taliman's power anymore.
Blurry vision and irritation did not make one appear particularly menacing, but it was all Caine could manage as he noticed what he took for Deity returning to the ground. He wasn't mad at Deity for winning, but bright flashes of light hurt. They just did. It took time to adjust.
As the haze faded from his periphery, he took to searching for some trace of the Emperor; a falling boot, a severed tail, preferably the Emperor's body intact. Anything that might confirm the speculations sure to be coming to everyone's mind. The fact that he didn't see anything was more disturbing than the fact that his Emperor really did seem to be dead.
His gaze fell on Deity, the seemingly triumphant underdog. Whatever he had pulled out of his a** in that last moment was luck as far as Caine was concerned. Tali had claimed victory. It was there. He had it, but in the blink of an eye it was gone; Deity took it. Life or death being what they were, it wasn't exactly cheating, but it didn't seem right either. With something akin to a glare of curiosity, Caine simply watched, uninterested in testing Cado's loyalty to a deceased Emperor's comman.

A heavy cloud of debris wafted past the mage as she made her trek across the desert. It seemed the fight had come to an end one of the enormous energy sources had seemingly vanished. Which one she couldn't tell at this point. Shaking her head she sighed inwardly knowing that things would likely not have ended in any other way. Squinting her eyes as she gazed into the distance as several familiar forms came into view.
"Fancy meeting you all here. Seems our little Orion has become known through out the universe."
Smirking a slightly graying man with decidedly boyish features laughed lightly.
"That would be a gross understatement my dear. Irregardless it appears many bodies are here to observe...amongst many things."
Bowing her head in greeting to man, the green tressed mage smiled.
"Greetings Lord Duran, one would not expect so many archmage's to come to such an event."
Clearing her throat a severe looking woman of Mediterranean descent hung back.
"Anything to report Ms. Brief's? Your defection is only in name and it appears forces are converging about your little "star system". A fellow by the name of Rutum has amassed an considerable amount of power as I'm sure your aware of. "
Crossing her arms over her chest she turned to Duran.
"Is it truly necessary to continue this ruse? I do not like my protege's being used in this manner."
A gauntleted hand rested on her shoulder, which she promptly shook off.
"Corrine this was Epithany's idea I might add. Tedin mainly agreed as a way carryout her Archmage's trial and still carryout our plans."
Frowning Epithany sighed.
"Sasha, please don't interfere."
At these words, these words the Kitsune Sage shrugged.
Turning to her superior Epithany frowned,
" Lady Magdella, It is not uncommon for a mage to carryout their mage's trial by unorthodox means. I wish to follow my own path...and not to sound impertinent I go by my maiden name.."
Staring at her subordinate Corrine Magdella shrugged.
"As you wish...Redmoon. You do realize the danger you put yourself in. To the rest of guild you have truly defected. Our support will be limited."
Running her hand through her hair, Epithany smiled.
"That was my reasoning."
Shaking her head Magdella laughed.
"Let us go...It seems Ms. Redmoon has this at hand."
Drawing a quick series of runes a dimensional tear appeared behind them. Bowing the mages disappeared into the tear leaving Epithany behind.

[Unks]
His face stung from Keno's blow, and part of him wanted to just have it out right there, but by the time he turned, both Keno and his wife were gone. Confused and angry, Unks looked both ways before feeling a massive force strike him from behind. Staggering to turn, his ice blue eyes saw the red sky and he suddenly remembered Tali and Deity.
With his wife gone, he decided it was okay to watch the fight, and tried to hurry back, but he was met instead by a beams of ki falling from the sky. Using his mind, he forced some of the attacks away from him and covered himself in a barrier.
Ignoring everything, he raced back to the fight as fast as he could, but a new shockwave pushed him back. He wouldn't get closer at this rate. There was some sort of monster power, but he knew it was Deity, and tried to hurry. He could tell they were in the sky, and looked up hoping maybe to see them, but suddenly a bright flash of light blinded him.
"What just happened?"
He looked around, ice blue eyes unable to see. Feeling out for the other ki in the area, he noticed that he could no longer feel Tali.
"Did Deity win?"
He was excited, but he couldn't be sure. The Emperor was strong, but this time Deity seemed to be stronger.

[Tama]
It was hard to weather a weathered man, but this clash between brothers was proving to be a good try. Though only mildly attentive, Tama was satisfied to see Deity gain the upper hand. For a moment there, he was afraid Tali was going to utterly destroy Deity, but his pride had been his folly. His dark leathery hide took minor damage against the sundering sky and blasting winds and sands, but not even he could stand still under such force as these two had. Be that as it may he stood his ground beside Jade best he could and watched.
Only the blinding light that consumed land and sky alike made him look away. Even with his eyes closed, he saw white, and he felt a surge of sudden pain in the back of his head. It wasn't a great pain, and it subsided quickly, but it was most unpleasant. When his vision recovered, he saw the slowly descending figure of Deity, no longer a monster, no longer all powerful, reaching from sky to Earth. He was victorious, but this was the price.
Taking his cue from Jade, he stayed put, despite his desire to assure himself that this indeed was the end. More importantly, he wanted to be sure his old friend was alright.

[New Guy]
The primary advantage to being airborne, thought the man in the sky, was that retreat was made fundamentally simpler.
Speed and power were ridiculous things in these proportions, he determined. Unsure of the carefulness - or recklessness - of these two men, wolf and fox, the man new to the world thought it in his best interest to put more than half a mile between them and him. This was not particularly difficult because unlike the other spectators, who were either trying to hold their ground or approach the battlefield, he was trying to back away. Also, whereas they were on the ground, he was in the air.
Despite the intensity of the fight, it was rather short lived, but he knew a few things. First of all, the tall skinny one was faster, and deceptively more mobile. Secondly, the small redhead was aware of his disadvantages and was tactically superior in compensating for them. Lastly, he could not hope to witness this play-by-play even though he was watching it live.
The giant explosion that lit the sky and turned the fight out of the tall one's favor was a warning beacon, to which the silver man responded appropriately. However, he didn't get much time. Before he knew it, some shockwave or other was doing the hard part for him, and when he was able to stabilize and turn about, he was a good half mile away and quarter-mile higher. Another sundering of the sky caught his immediate attention as dozens upon dozens of beams of energy barreled to the Earth. From his vantage, there was little to worry about, but some of the explosions had reached him even at this distance and their power was great enough to send debris up to meet him in a less than pleasant manner.
Feeling himself a bit too far away, he made to inch closer only to be knocked back by an unexpected wall of force. Were he on the ground, his back and shoulders would be raw from scraping the ground. He flipped as elegantly as he could right-side-up, but there wasn't enough time to see anything else but a ball of energy traveling up, up, up, and then...
The flash of light didn't blind him. He was able to duck, turn away, and slam his lids shut. The explosion was helping gravity take its claim on him, but he dared do little more than ensure he didn't fall too fast. If he did end up landing, he didn't want to break anything.
Fortunately he found himself still elevated. The world still seemed somehow malevolently brighter, but the worst had come to pass, and now the lanky one was descending. He looked like hell. He looked like he felt like hell. The silver haired one did not think he could envy the man if he tried. Curiously, he wondered what had become of the short redhead fox man. Was that flash of light the end of him or was he still alive? Was the tall one falling because he was too tired to stay afloat or because he had won? Unsure, but relatively more secure, he decided the best way to find out was to fly back within proximity while still keeping a cautious distance from the unmarked playing field.
