The mage's expression of amusement readily faded to that of great displeasure. Gritting her teeth she took a deep breath as if processing the information piece by piece.

"You wish for me to for go my privacy. I'm not sure I understand the underlying reasoning for that. Is it for my protection? I stilll don't understand."

Furrowing her brow she sighed.

"Are your afraid that I will turn on you as well. Geez, I haven't even done anything for you and already having to prove my loyalty. My research is just furthering my spell mastery."

Biting her lower lip she seemed to be stifling another outburst.

Tamashii remained silent and alone at the bar ordering drink after drink after drink. Chugging almost three bottles of vodka already and simply scoffing at the cheap taste and little effect.

Red's glare returned with a vengeance and her eyes fell on Unks like lead weights. Just as before she was up before her movement even registered, her left fist trying to bury itself into the table; the resounding thud of flesh and bone colliding with wood a testament to that fact.

Her response was on her lips, ready to leap from her tongue the instant she opened her mouth, and her glare began to trickle into Unks' very soul to strike a blow directly where he needed one. She could have said many things to him about his opinion, his rude comments, his ignorant judgments, and his past doings, each of which would culminate to a crushing assault on his very character as a man, regardless of his heritage. Could have said it, wanted to say it, but she bit her tongue and would not speak, so all that came out was a most feral growl that hung in her throat until she was a degree or two calmer; calm enough not to burn any bridges.

"Two cents...I wouldn't pay half that for your opinion."

Very carefully she reseated herself, looking as though she were fighting the urge to leap over Epithany and force Unks to eat whatever substance she thought a suitable metaphor for his words. Once she was sure she was situated, her focused gaze returned to Epithany, who she politely did not look directly into the eyes.

"You need to think about the consequences of privacy a bit more carefully. As far as the guild is concerned, you are a beast hiding in a woman's body. They will watch you whether you're with them or against them. If you randomly disappear and something horrible happens, who do you think is gonna rank among the most likely suspects? You are not Epithany to them. If you want to live your own life, you need to start seeing what they see and take necessary measures to undo that delusion, and if someone else is watching you, then we minimize evidence tampering."

For another moment she was silent, as words spilled from her mind onto her tongue. A number of things came to mind about the true nature of her faith in Epithany, a think that could be proven palpably unlike her faith in Kali. Epithany's stubborn refusal to take into account all their mentor had said, and her inability to realize that the death of a generation may very well be necessary to bring her any peace of mind.

She could have said these things and more, but again she did not.

"Rather than thinking of this as you proving loyalty to me, consider instead that maybe I'm trying to earn your faith in me."

One problem with rage was that it quickly became a outlet for other emotions, and Red was angry enough to become unpredictably something other than indifferent. Catching herself on this, she put on a blatantly defensive mask that gave nothing away other than the fact that she was protecting herself, and turned her attention again to Unks. For a moment, she thought to say something, but instead she shifted her focus to Hasamoto.

Though Unks smiled, Hasamoto could see the surprise hidden behind his eyes. Surprise that he had been able to hear the comment on the swordsmen, and even give a retort on it.

"Apology accepted, but think more carefully about what you mutter. The ears you see aren't always the only ones listening."

He felt a bit like he was chiding an outspoken boy back in his village, and this feeling grew when the young man went to stand behind his wife, adding his opinion in a business partnership he was not part of. The samurai had gone through a similar deal with the fox women, and though in the beginning it took some adjusting of the program and getting used to, things were running well now.

Kono let out a slight sigh at Unks' persistence to be involved in Epithanys negotiations. As he expected, Red's temper emerged, though thankfully not full force. He had yet to see the full extent of her rage, and would rather keep it that way. In the brief silence that followed, the samurai cleared his throat softly to get attention.

"Unks-kun, this is a matter for Red-dono and Epithany-san alone to discuss. Though this one understands you have concern and opinions for your wife, it is ultimately her choice to work out."

Hasamoto looked out from under his dark green hair, blue eye watching Unks carefully.

"Since you have concerns, so to speak, about the swordsmen in Red-dono's employ, perhaps a demonstration from their sensei is in order?"

Smiling, he returned the gaze to Red, and then looked back and forth between the two women. "That is unless, of course, these young women would prefer to save the rest of their terms of employment for another time, and enjoy a show of our skills?"

He watched as the man's head moved ever so slightly in the beginning. He was still trying to move? No, that couldn't happen. He was only a human, he couldn't possibly-- He rose to his feet. He looked towards the man, and caught something. His power had awakened. And from the looks of things, to their full extent. He appeared to have no strain from using his practically destroyed body. But he still wasn't at his fullest. If there was any time to strike and end this, it would be now. He shot forward at an angle, his knees bent slightly, feet hardly skimming across the ground. He raised his right arm back and thrust it forward, his claws wrapping around Nathan's neck and smashing him back into the side of the building. He felt an intense pressure in the center of his chest, along with a burning heat. He locked eyes with Nathan. The man's eyes were now completely red with orange circles throughout them. It was amazing to see that somebody other than him had turned his power into something so destructive. So terrifying. He looked down and saw a bright blue beam sticking into the center of his chest. His eyes narrowed for a moment as he studied it, as if making sure it was actually there. A smile tugged at his lips. His shoulders shook once as he exhaled a short laugh through his nose. His lips parted and he began to chuckle to himself. The laughter progressively became louder and more hysterical until the devil tossed his head back, howling with crazed laughter. So he had landed a hit. He locked eyes with the man, unafraid of his power. He smiled wickedly, moving his hands to Nathan's forearm, gripping it tightly. It was going to take much more than being impaled to stop hi-- Lucid froze. An angry scream bellowed in his mind as Soneko tried to gain control.

Lucid snarled wildly, his grip on the man tightening. Had it not been surrounded in that inner layer, it would have broken under the pressure. He gritted his teeth as he fought off the host. There was no reason for him to be trying to stop this little whelp from being killed. If he went on any further, it would kill him. But that was what he wanted, wasn't it? Lucid growled in protest as his features slowly began to fade back to normal.

His tan skin tone washed itself over the almost blue hue on his body, his eyes fading back to their original deep green. His fangs and claws receded, and his hair, though still wet, seemed to untangle itself. Soneko looked onto the man in front of him. He glanced down, puzzled by the beam sticking out of his chest. He didn't remember much. Quick flashes of memories that weren't really his own came into view for a fleeting moment, and he knew what had happened. Lucid had done something to this man. He opened his mouth as if to say something, looking back in front of him. He noticed his hands holding onto the man's forearm.

What had he done? He'd grown so sick of his life that he had given it up to Lucid in hopes that it would get rid of the pain. It didn't work. He was simply stuck in a world of Lucid's design. And there he would remain unless something was done. He had three choices; carry on, fighting every day of his life to hold back the beast within. He could let Lucid have his way and watch the world crumble from behind a looking glass. He didn't care for either of those options. Tightening his grip on the man's forearm, Soneko gritted his teeth, pulling the man's arm to his right. The blade tore through half of his chest, and Soneko screamed in pain for a moment. He let go of Nathan's arm as he felt his body fall backwards. He felt blood bubble up his throat as he hit the ground. If he stayed in his human form, he would be dead within a few minutes.

He lay on his back, looking up into the night sky. He watched as the snow fell around him, not seeming to mind the biting cold. He struggled to breath with only one functioning lung. He wheezed, blood spouting from his lips and onto his clothing, staining spots of the snow. But despite the physical pain, for the first time in over two thousand years, Soneko felt at peace. Maybe at this point it was too late to seek redemption. He didn't expect it. But at the very least he could be happy with himself before he died.

Somewhere far away, he could hear the voices of two ghosts who had haunted his past for millenniums. But this time, the words he heard were not coming from his own mind. He could actually hear her sweet voice calling to him. He could hear his brother telling him that it was alright. He heard nothing of Lucid. He looked into the sky and saw a light shining brilliantly, cutting out the darkness of the night. Despite the cold, he felt warm. Even after a lifetime of cruelty and wickedness, he was, in the end, human at heart. A single tear rolled down his cheek and a smile most content tugged at Soneko's lips as his eyes closed and his head fell to the side

::Unks knew his words would have no effect on Red, well on anything but her temper. It didn't matter to him what mattered to him was Red was asking his wife for a job and it did concern him more than she knew. His eyes flashed with a violent flash and his pupil turned green.

He turned slowly when he heard the Samurai speak behind him and his eyes went back to normal. He turned to give Kono his full attention and listened carefully at what he was being asked.

"You wish to cross blades with me Hasamoto? Well that is an honor indeed to cross blades with a Samurai from the past."

Unks smiled and then turned back to Red and Epithany to see what their response to Hasamoto's offer was::

Pursing her lips once again she remained silent and slowly processing the statement made by her junior. Sensing a brief raising of mana levels from her husband, her brow furrowed at the possible scene coming about.

Gritting her teeth she eyed the Saiya-jin critically.

"Sweetie...not helping."

Turning toward the samurai she tilted her head listening to his proposition.

"Hmmm...I don't see why not."

Glancing in the direction of the arena she sighed.

"Red, you have yet to give me any reason to doubt you. I'll concede to your wishes. But how about Sasha choose the person to watch me. He is a party who does not belong to the guild and may have connections that could help in this instance."

"I can agree to that."

Without another word or glance at anyone, the ruby kitsune rose from her seat, this time casually, and made her way toward the corridor leading to the arena. Doubtless anyone watching her would see the tension knotting in her shoulders and the bristled fur of her tail. She held it with grace to be sure, but she could not deny it any more than she could deny how cold she was outside.

Her boots added weight to her steps, but fell short of pounding against the floor with the rise and fall of her feet. She kept her attention on the sound and rhythm of her walking while another sound played over it with a greater tempo; a sound she sought to synchronize with her pace.

Entering the corridor proper, she reached into a breast pocket sewn into the inside of her denim jacket and withdrew a device more computer than phone; an obvious upgrade from the last one she had brought to the club. She slid the screen to reveal a concealed keyboard and her thumbs went to work immediately, her eyes on the screen and her hears on her feet.

A silent prayer filtered through her thoughts and with a frustrated sigh, she projected them to the heavens. Truly she was being tested today.

"This one would like to cross blades with someone he don't call 'student', once in a while. Helps to keep skills sharp and blades honed."

Hasamoto began the walk towards the hallway and arena beyond, following the steps of his boss. He was working on moving the group, so that they might discuss the terms of the match without wasting much time. And with how quickly Red proceeded, either she had something to attend to in private with her electronic device or she was eager to watch. Perhaps a bit of both.

"Shall we just have sword play, or allow other abilities as well? You are a user of internal energies, yes?"

::Unks followed after Red, and walked side by side with Hasamoto. He looked at the samurai from the corner of his eye when he was asked the question. He looked forward once more and spoke softly.

"Yes you can say that I am. That is kind of an understatement."

He laughed softly more to himself than to anyone else. He was saiya-jin after all so patting himself on his back slightly was in his personality. He looked back at Hasamoto and smiled in earnest to him::

"But we can use simple swordplay if you prefer. No need to add abnormalities in this."
