Epithany Shaking her head she sighed.
"They have at some points. The spell isn't that complex. Well at least not for the more covert bodies in the guild. All one has to do is have a sample of tissue or something owned by the individuals in question. I generally have a basic idea of whats going on here at the Orion at all times."
Realizing she was getting off topic she sighed, her expression growing dark. Pulling away from him she made her way out of the kitchen.
"This is serious. I'm going to have to look at this objectively. Weigh the arguments. With Red's organization there may come a time where she would ask me to do something I may morally object to. Then again its not like I've agreed with everything the Solarian guild has done. "
Glancing back at her husband she smiled weakly
"I surmise its just time to decide what I want to compromise and what each organization gives me in the long run."
Running her hand through her hair, she looked at Red still sitting at the table. (sorry for that bit of silence everyone) ::Unks' ice blue eyes followed his wife's movements and turned to follow after her as she left the kitchen. He looked over at Red sitting at the table she was sitting in when he entered still talking to Kendo. Unks turned his attention back to Epithany and moved so he was walking at her side and not behind her.
"Well doing research on a new job is probably the best thing to do before excepting the job in question, and yes sometimes you'll have to do things you don't believe is right but you do it to get the paycheck or whatever it is your working for."
He laughed to himself softly and thought about what he was saying. He never really had to have a job his family was pretty wealthy and he did make some good money selling things he made::
"Anyway do you think Red will have a position for me in this organization of hers?"

"Not by the many hells!"
Unks' suggestion appeared to inspire some activity back into Red's being as she appeared seemingly out of nowhere before Epithany and her husband, the familiar glare of rage burning in her eyes. Until his most recent words, she was content with pretending not to overhear their conversation; most of it was blanketed under the din of the other creatures moving about in the club. The way this man's mind worked was truly baffling if he actually thought it plausible that she would ever employ him.
"My offer is to your wife, and her alone! Support her as you will, but if you so much as think of trying to get involved with my facilities, my resources, or my people, I will have you marked!"
For all the patience she had learned since her first appearance, it did little to weaken her fury when she released it. Her tail was so stiff and bristled, it could probably scour the flesh right off of a man's arm. The fierce glow in her eyes were locked onto Unks such that there was no denying that she was speaking to him, not that many would doubt it in the first place.
"You've been given fair warning."
Her last words were cold, icy, venomous, and powerful, but she turned away, still visibly tense as she made her way back to Sasha, with whom she was enjoying a stress free silence. As she approached and drew out her chair, she took a deep breath, shut her eyes, and eased into her seat as she exhaled. Most of the anger had dissolved, but the look of eternal frustration that decorated her unguarded expression still hung in her eyes. She was an unlikely danger to anyone not wise enough to exercise caution.

((*blinks at Deity's post* eek ..... lol ..... 4laugh ...... rofl ...*clears throat* I'm alright now.))
Blinking dumbfounded by the normally stoic vixen's reaction, the senior mage found herself momentarily speechless.
"Ermm...well I suppose that answers that..."
Looking toward Red she fought the formation of blood flowing to her cheeks.
"I take it we were pretty loud back there. So I figure it would be better in my favor to just ask."
Leaving her husband behind she returned to her seat.
"What would working for you entail on your end? I can't imagine that you would offer me a position that affords me the freedoms I wish for without some strings attached. I consider you a friend, but friendship goes so far."
Crossing her legs she looked at her colleague earnestly ignoring the probable gaze of the two men present.

Red's gaze darted toward Epithany, her irritation not waning nearly fast enough. Were it not for the need to assume something resembling professionalism, she'd have stewed in her rage indefinitely. Another long, slow sigh slipped through her lips before she spoke.
"The samurai was given a dojo and I take from him a few good swordsmen. All I want are a few well trained mages and the promise that you will not begin policing the world."
The simplicity probably was deceptive, but there was little else to it than that. As she sought a way to elaborate, the kitsune's eyes commanded a tone of utmost seriousness on the point she had already made. Red's impressions of the three organizations she already knew of were none too great and she saw no reason to imitate them in their quest for balance or justice or whatever term suited their cause.
"It will be easier if you tell me what you want. Then I will tell you if I shall grant it."

Raising her eyebrows at the other woman's reply, the emerald tressed mage gained a thoughtful expression.
"Hmmm it didn't truly occur me that you would be the type to want an army of grunts at your disposal. An interesting proposition. But I always thought you were the type who got her own hands dirty."
Scrunching her lips she smirked.
"Seems I'm projecting myself on others again, but I suppose that's literally what your asking."
Frowning she slumped in her seat.
"I can teach, but I served mainly as a substitute within the guild. My powers lie more in the refining of minds rather than working from scratch. I can scout mages in other words. I would only wish that they would help with my research. They in turn could bring in more bodies themselves. A chain reaction of sorts."
Clasping her hands she seemed to have redeemed her motivation once again.
"How does that sound to you?"

"The nature of my work - and my education - often discourages the hands on approach."
Having spoken, Red reclined back into her seat to study the moment. Epithany's proposal was none too unreasonable, nor was it particularly favorable. It was a rational trade-off of sorts and the implications were being measured in the silence, though it did not take a great deal of time to respond.
"There will be no more than thirty people under you; five teachers who will help you with your research and twenty-five students. I trust you to be a good judge of character, so you will speak on my behalf when you recruit your assistants. Do not tell them anything they do not need to know to help you with your projects.
"Some of your students will be handpicked by me. The rest are admitted at the whim of you and your staff. Let it be known now, however, that regardless of your own ambitions, they are students by choice, not obligation. You may replace them, but they stay of their own choosing, not yours. Violate this but once and I will wash my hands of you."
The air thickened as her focus fixed upon her senior. It was a matter of severe gravity that anyone under her employ remained so at will, whether they knew of her or not. Anyone who violated this precept did not often find themselves in happy circumstances.
"I'm think and academy appropriate. If you think it fitting, I'll have a property converted immediately.

(::blinks and Stares at Deity's post before falling off my chair:: Bwhahahahaha Amazing!)
::Unks simply stood where he was a dumbfounded look on his face and his jaw dropped. Did she seriously move across the room in a flash to yell in his face and then just walk away?
"A simple "no" would of sufficed, but that works too. ."
He tried not to listen to the conversation Red and Pith were having, but he couldn't help it his ears did more than just frame his face. When she mentioned having swordsmen who were well trained and most likely human he rolled his eyes slightly and continued to listen. He spoke softly under his breath::
"Oh yeah that'll work, get human sword fighters when you've got a Saiya-jin within your grasp, who in turn is good with a sword."

It seemed that the club had more business than normal this time around. The ancient samurai stepped inside the doors, quickly removing his modern bootwear that was covered in snow and putting them off to the side. His sandals hung slung over his left shoulder, kept on by a delicate balance. The dark-green haired swordsman wore his traditional clothing, the long sleeves of his haori and length of his hakama providing protection from the winter's chill.
Stepping around a pair of men facing off by the door, Konosuke took in the crowd in the room. A pair of young ladies by the bar, with a hulking dark figure as well, the two men he just passed, and the group gathered around one of the tables. It was this last that he headed for, arriving in time to catch a comment under the purple-haired one's breath.
"Konnichiwan minna-san, Red-dono." He leaned over slightly, sliding his sandals off of his armless left shoulder with his right, to put them on over his white tabi. The two swords on his back rattled slightly with his movements. He stood up again, his single blue eye narrowed slightly at the indignant man.
"I'll also have you know that my students are not just 'human sword fighters'. Do not doubt what you have yet to see, young man."

Wrinkling her nose at her husband's reaction to being so heavily rebuffed, she fought the urge to placate him and returned her full attention to the subject at hand.
"I see...I suppose those number would be sufficient. As a high mage I was generally on call by my superiors to utilized as they saw fit. I normally had a number of acolytes and mages under my command depending on severity of the task at hand. But generally they were not picked by me. "
Crossing her arms over her chest she seemed to stewing in her own thoughts.
"I assume my position would be likened to a principal or a dean. I have no wish to teach classes any more than necessary to further my research. One other thing to note is that beyond those you hand pick yourself, I don't wish for anyone I select to be forced to work under your aims against their will. Resources aside I am quite adept at finding my own support, but having a pre-established organization lends more clout when doing negotiations. "
Sighing she relaxed her posture.
"I surmise this will include a support staff, with security, housing, board, travel expenses and other such amenities. Many avenues I wish to research would require traveling to such regions where there are not many of our ilk. Drawing too much attention would not be in our favor."

As soon as the beast had found it's way in front of him, Nathan bent his right elbow, aiming the cannon on his arm towards the monster. He fired, sending a bright blue ray that evaporated the water it passed through until shooting out of the sphere, God knew where it went after that. But he had missed. The beast was gone. He looked around nervously. He could've been anywhere. A voice forced itself into his thoughts, and the man was claiming victory. At this point, Nathan wasn't doubting it. His lungs burned, screaming for oxygen, he was a bleeding mess, stuck in freezing water with a demon after him. His vision swam, and his body slowly stopped responding to anything he said to it. He was passing out. However, as his left leg was suddenly missing another piece of armor, he momentarily sprang back into action, raising his right arm and firing at the beast. Another miss. He was too quick, he hardly saw a blur. Each time the demon struck him, he would fire back too late. But as the bombardments stopped he knew that something was being planned. He pushed his arms through the water, turning himself around, looking for any sign of the devil. Instead what he saw was a transparent purple worm making its way towards him. He tried to swim away, but his body was no longer listening. Again, his vision began to fade as the worm wrapped itself around his body, squeezing him tightly. He felt the blood rush to his head. And then blackness.
A deafening explosion awakened him. Armor tore away, his protective underskin melted and broke away, flesh seared. As the armor on his neck was now obliterated, he screamed as the explosion engulfed his body. He was thrown backwards and down from the detonation. His body fell uselessly, toppling over itself in midair, only left with a few scraps of the outer armor. Luckily a good percentage of the inner shell had held through, but some of it had melted onto his skin. He heard a wicked laughter erupting from the sky. He saw trees. He saw the ground. He saw nothing.
He heard somebody speaking. It was far away. Jumbled. Slurred. It moved closer. He knew the voice. He didn't like it. It scared him. It always had, from the very beginning. It was all so surreal. The day his life changed. The day he heard that voice. It drew closer. He could barely open his eyes, and even when he did he had tunnel vision. He coughed and wheezed, drawing in sweet oxygen, but with great pain. He wasn't sure how many of his bones were broken, but he knew it was a lot. He saw the demon approaching him, and still heard words, but couldn't make anything of them. The beast stood over him, barking something at him. He had felt many different pains in his life, but as the demon pierced his chestplate and lift his by his collarbone, he screamed in pain. The man screamed at him to prove himself, though he wasn't sure what of. He felt his body being swung. He felt more bones shatter as a tree gave way to the beast slamming him into it. He no longer had the life in him to scream. He felt his body tear through another tree. He watched the crazed man throw him to the ground. He heard nothing. He felt nothing. He could only watch as the beast approached him yet again, screaming at him. Nathan closed his eyes as the beast held him up. His body wouldn't listen even if he wanted to stand. His body was traveling through the air again. He hit something big enough to not even flinch as his body smashed into it. A building. He fell to the floor, winding up on his seat, his back against the wall of the building.
He sat there, his broken body slouching over itself. It was over. He wasn't able to kill the beast. His vision grew dim. He had fought with the devil, something no mortal would be able to do and live to tell the tale. Closing his eyes, he accepted his death.
'WHAT!?' A voice shot off like an alarm in his head. 'Oh no you don't!'
His eyes shot open. He saw the world in front of him in several shades of orange, red and black. He somehow managed to lift his head. No pain. He stood up. Miraculously, his body was still able to stand. Not to its full stature, as Nathan was half crouched and hunched. Still, he felt no pain. He looked ahead of him. He stared in amazement. As he peered at the beast, he understood exactly what he was. He knew what it thought. He knew what it was going to do. He shifted his eyes briefly to his left hand, which still remained shelled in the outer armor. Somehow he knew his saber beam was laying off to his right. He looked back at Lucid. He sensed something in him. Something much different than the beast he was familiar with. He understood. He waited for the demon to leap into action. When the time was right, he would activate the magnetic pull in the glove of his left hand and bring his saber to him, activate it, and thrust it forward into the beast's chest.

Projecting and displaying two completely different states of being; Red found herself in such a situation much against her will, but she endured it all the same as her face held a menacing scowl, but her voice maintained a professional calm. Whatever Unks thought of his own physical capacities, he had either failed to realize or ignored completely the fact that though his ears worked well, hers worked far better. Oblivious or no, his comment was not received warmly in the least bit. Nevertheless she opted to ignore it, and coincidentally, Hasamoto entered just in time to add his two cents. It would serve her well if the samurai could distract if not humble the monkey while she continued her discussion with Epithany.
"Do as I say, not as I do. It is not a proverb I find endearing. Rest assured I will harass no one."
Her voice betrayed her face shamelessly, but it was her expression that was fighting to conform. As she was talking to Epithany, most of her anger towards Unks was being projected at her senior instead. The fact that her relationship with the spouses was bipolar was a delicate situation, but forgiveness did not come easily.
"The security I employ is thus far accustomed with dealing with normal human beings. I will have a special feature installed until you can train your guard."
She cast Epithany a glance that suggested she put the pieces together if she hadn't already, and continued where she left off seamlessly.
"You will find it has it's detriments, but for the time it will suffice. Should you need it, merely speak the word 'Dissipate.' "
Another glance toward her senior, but still she continued.
"It requires modifications - currently it can only operate for fifteen minutes at best - but it should be enough to stop anything short of a small army.
"Staff and necessary provisions will be provided of course. We will discuss traveling on a case by case basis; more for the students' sake than your own. Most anything you consider a necessity will be provided, but there is another catch I'm afraid."

Raising her eyebrow at the concept of having to train her own guard, the senior mage smiled.
"I see...I take it you have reverse engineered a displacement field for the facility. I must admit technology is not my strong point, but I am capable of producing similar field magically as well. Seems I'll have to place some fail safe's just in case."
Pursing her lips at the instance of a catch she frowned.
"I need nothing in the way of any travel provisions myself. Save for scouting purposes. What other catches might you have in mind?"
Leaning forward the quantum mage seemed more amused than wary.

Red took a final deep breath and seemed to be more or less indifferent again, the air of cold apathy clinging to her like an invisible cloak. Again her mood and thoughts fled behind her eyes, far from the prying minds of her company or anyone else in the vicinity.
"The field will be installed as soon as I choose an appropriate property. As for the catch, and I'm sure you're already aware of this, I need you under surveillance. Paranoia is a dangerous thing when you're dealing with unknown forces. They have reason enough to see you as dangerous and I have no intention of throwing gas on that.
"Plausible deniability; I refuse to let myself know exactly what it is you plan to do or how you plan to do it, but someone in the company must know, and they must not have a personal interest in you or your work. Where you are and the results of what you've done. Nothing more. So long as we record the past, the present and future are not necessary."
She sighed at the weight of her decision. Were the world to embrace Epithany like the seasons, it would not be necessary, but spontaneity apparently won more faith. Fear, paranoia, and ignorance were hard compounds to dissolve.
"It is temporary I assure you, but unfavorable nevertheless. My apologies."

::Now this was getting crazy sure it made sense for Red to hear what Unks said to himself more than to anyone else in a voice that was just above a whisper, but for the Samurai to hear him as well and he just entered the building, that was an amazing skill. Unks looked at Hasamoto and smiled.
"My apologizes Hasamoto, I wasn't speaking ill of your students. That was just a little bit of my bitterness slipping through."
He continued to listen in and his eyes narrowed slightly when he heard what Red said, but returned back to their calm state before he spoke. He stepped forward and went to stand behind Pith as he spoke::
"I am sorry to offending you before Red, but right now I am adding in my two cents. If your going to have her being watched what makes you and your organization better than the guild that is spying on her now, even if it is temporary? I'm sure my words are gonna piss you off, and I am sorry but it needed to be said."
