The ruby kitsune nodded approvingly at Sasha's response. Being in her position, she should not have overlooked the implications of being a leading figure of an organization. Though she was personally indifferent to the possible casualties associated with her business, there was no denying she played her game politically at times.

"Your logic is reasonable, but has anyone in the guild been kind enough to explain this to Epithany in person?"

The expression on her face struck something that looked like boredom or apathy. Her voice was flat, but her tone held the smallest touch of defense. Limited experience gave her the impression that Epithany was not like to turn a deaf ear onto reason. That being the case, it was unlikely that she had heard this argument before. On the other hand, ambition sometimes altered one's perception. She turned her gaze back to the elder mage.

"Do you truly want such responsibility? Such obligation?"

Crossing her arms over her chest the mage listened to the exchange sucking on her tongue.

"I understand where they are going with that line of thought, but why all the secrecy? I'm pretty sure Tedin would agree with you. He's always shirking his duties and disappearing for stretches of time."

Raising her tea to her lips she sipped the beverage.

"I suppose having too many self serving superiors wouldn't be in the guilds best interest. I just wish they didn't all have to use that holier than thou attitude to get members to do things. They may mean well, but its still generally off putting.

Sometimes I wish I would have taken your offer to join the Shadow mages. You guys seem to have so much freedom. Then, I rather not have symbiotes swimming through my bloodstream."

Shivering at the though she shook her head.

This may be ironic, but I finished reading Memnoch the Devil earlier today.

:: Kenta's near-panicked protest and Jade's quiet, puzzled question snapped Kaen back to reality. The girl looked up into their bewildered eyes, saw their confusion. It wasn't The Look, albeit a near cousin of it. Kaen had seen the The Look before: that disturbed, honey-let's-sit-somewhere-else Look that meant people thought she was crazy. Kaen didn't want to see that expression, not from Jade, not from Kenta. That quelled her rage for a moment.

The girl took a handful of deep breaths, summoning rationality back to her. She had to calm down, had to think, had to explain. Everyone was confused, and Kaen couldn't blame them: this wasn't the first time a similar situation had occurred. She had this terrible habit of taking her visions as absolute truth, even if they hadn't occurred, and acting on them... Now that she thought about it, she had found Niichan that way... ::

"Jade-san... Kenta-san... I'm not..."

:: She hesitated, wondering how to word it. She had lots of experience being thought crazy; not so much experience explaining her "gift." In the end she went with less is more. ::

"I guess... the simple explanation would be... I see the future. In my dreams."

:: Her gaze moved back to the red-headed man. She felt her anger surge again, and she looked away from him, lest she lose track again. ::

"That's the reason I came to Orion, to find my brother and warn him about that man."

"A good man?" he said in bewilderment. Considering the disapproval he received from his sister, her boyfriend, and his own girlfriend after his last public outburst, and his own hazy past, Keno had always considered himself a figure that was not really good or bad. A villain perhaps, though not bad. Definitely not good, and no real hero. At heart, he identified himself as simply himself. He thought in terms of right or wrong, not really good or bad, and naturally he agreed with his own actions and the decision to carry them out.

"It may be a myth, but I highly doubt it. Like you said though, maybe it isn't meant for us. I doubt that too. Few care enough to look for it is all." Tama's words were still slowly making their way into his mind, but Keno saw no need to sacrifice anything for what he was looking for. So far, it was just a matter of looking harder at what he already saw. Were he correct, even Tama, blind though he was, would be able to see this universal energy.

"Of course, what either of us might do with it if we ever got it is anyone's guess. I just enjoy the hunt. It's fun." He lied, and not too well, but he didn't really have anything else to say on the issue.

"Anyway, maybe you should get back to the club. Maybe you'll find something more exciting to get yourself into. Nice catching up old friend. Perhaps later, you and I can speak at length. Maybe I'll visit Rock Fist again."

Tamashii nodded to himself as the cold breeze blasted against his skin, his nostrils taking in the fresh air and he liked it. Standing up firmly as he cocked his head towards the wind and smiled.

"I think we will, after all, friends always meet again."

As he walked towards the club now in lumbering steps a small thought hit his mind and he kept it to himself. Something Kenotao would not agree with but Tamashii and him both knew it was truth but it did not need to be said.

"Stay alive and keep yourself out of trouble till then."

He grinned even wider as he walked back into the lush forest and into the shadows and light that danced together in the woods like water and oil. Sometimes shadows covered him and sometimes light, as was his life.

The little emperor tipped his glass again during the brief silence. His blue gaze followed the eyes of the young man before him, who was acting as a barrier between Taliman and the girl. Surely it was in an attempt to keep the brat from doing anything stupid. Again. There was no reason to kill someone just because they were having a tantrum; surely the boy knew this. The child had slipped a bolt and was suffering the side effects.

Her protector's mind seemed to be elsewhere though. He hadn't forgotten his self-appointed purpose but that isn't where his thoughts came together at the moment. It spoke aloud to the intuitive that he had more self involvement in the people here, perhaps even Taliman, than he bothered to say before the emperor. The man didn't give away his thoughts further than the brief passing glance.

The girl continued to suffer the loss of her senses with her next statement. "Bollocks," Wesley said bluntly, incredulously.

Another pull, and he realized that he was taking gulps instead of sips. A heavy sigh erupted from his throat as he dropped the glass to the counter. Better to enjoy the damned thing instead of downing the whole bottle without noticing any of it. He continued, clear frustration in his voice.

"I don't even know your brother. I pity whoever does plan on offing him."

Another flick of his wrist around the boy toward the little girl,"He has to deal with this."

The Orinian lord was tired of being in the midst of this nonsense. He snatched the bottle of whiskey by the neck and turned to get out from behind the bar. The weather outside wasn't great but he sensed other entities out in the cold. The typical crowd here he didn't mind: hate him or love him, they never tried anything. The brat was trying his patience, and the "kill it" button was beginning to look shinier and more inviting. Perhaps the company outdoors would prove more hospitable.

Tamashii halted his advance towards the Co, feeling the ripples in the waves of energy from inside. He could feel the fustration, the naivity, the pointless ranting that was going on inside and decide best to avoid the conundrum until people got control of themselves. He decided to remain outside, turning his back to the doors and taking in a deep breathe of fresh cold air. It always felt as if he was clenasing himself in the cold a nd it allowed him to think for a moment on what he and Kenotao had talked about.

"One energy, one force of creation....and one force of destruction old friend."

Whispers too himself about times long ago.
