Oh god... not the hair! Batsu thought before Masa reached up and ruffled his hair. He tried to dodge the incoming hand but failed miserably. But at least Masaraku wasn't trying to kill him... at least not now. So Batsu grimaced when the girl touched his hair and after she stopped he groomed it the best way he could by combing through his hair with his fingers.
Batsu fixed his hair to his liking and looked off towards the harbor. "We'll be going by boat since it's much faster that way. Also, the chance of opposition is minimalized... and in the off chance of an attack..." Batsu turned and focused on Masaraku. "... you will have the upper hand since you're a Hoshigaki. When we hit landfall then you two will be leading me to the village. Any comments before we leave?" Batsu stopped talking so the rest of the team could have some kind of input before leaving.

Masa nodded and said, "If we get attacked on water, just stay quiet and steer toward shore, I'll take care of the rest." With that she began to walk towards the gates.

"Got ya Batsu." Shinzu said. "Now since you're the leader, lead us to the docks eh?" He added, smilling and uncrossing his arms. With any luck this would be a simple mission, little more then something to reaffirm thier abilities before the exams.

Batsu made sure he had all his stuff together before pulling ahead of Masaraku and walking towards the harbor. "On the way, I will show you both a couple of things I know that can damage an opponent severely."

Over looking the village with a rather detached expression, one would probably not really thought much of the rather passive looking Byakuran. His rather introspective air and vacant pondering made him seem as though even if one came up and poked him, he might not respond. He was standing on the small overhang of the window to his newly assigned "housing", though the humble apartment assigned to Genin was far from glamorous, and at the moment was pondering over the exact purpose of "ring around the rosie". He understood the point and purpose of MOST childhood practices. It was basic animal instinct at work. Hide and go seek, the thrill of the hunt, tag, the thrill of the chase. But what then was the general intent, and or purpose, of a game were you pranced around in a circle only to plop down afterwards. It baffled him to no end... And he wasn't even going to get started on why the grape candies that sometimes sold in the market tasted absolutely nothing at all like grapes. What on earth was the intent there? It was the equivalent to calling chocolate Orange bares bars, or a grain based cereal that tasted like sugar and grain "Apple-O's". It simply didn't make any sense. It seemed, he often found, that humans had a rather inconsistent ability to properly name things. For example, the village itself, could not have been more aptly named if one went to great lengths. It was a village, and it was hidden in a great deal of mist. But the land of fire, for example, was actually a place of rather temperate climate that was not in any way shape or form, on fire. He stroked his chin in his rather detached manner, looking as though he'd never had an actual care or worry in his life as he flipped forward over the side of the roof, catching himself with his chakra as he did so. He was fairly skilled with chakra control all things considered, but then, this was hardly any surprise...after he was an Otobe, and as such had an all to indepth sensory system with which to conduct said chakra. The ability to sense vibrations wasn't all that different from getting a feel for chakra, and that being said, he rather enjoyed puzzling over the workings of the mysterious energy that seemed so inveitably tied with his true passion... Yes Byakuran did find power ever so intriguing. He walked rather smoothly along the side of the overhang and back through the window upside down, stepping unto the ceiling of his apartment apparently paying gravity no mind whatsoever, save it pulling his hair down ever so slightly. Even when he was very little, even when he'd been racked with fits of madness and sensory overload, there had always been a small piece of cold sanity at the back of a his infantile mind. A piece which, by base a principal, refused to give in to the chaos which had usurped control of his reality. It had kept him sane...to a point, but even further was hell bent to master the chaos...comprehend it...and bring it under it's dominion. Upon at last harnessing his second self, the rather "religious" term his family used to describe their enhanced sensory system, that little piece at the back of his mind had become the entirety... He continued to pace the ceiling of his small one room apartment, the cramped space actually serving his purposed quite nicely, as smaller meant easily to secure and keep track of. He preferred smaller spaces to larger merely on the grounds that it was harder for someone to surprise you in a smaller space, where as the larger a living space was the more places there were for someone to hide or place traps... Paranoid, perhaps, but it wasn't as though he would have overly stressed about such matters, he supposed he was merely looking on the bright side. And anyway, it was true enough. One room was all he really needed, and until such time as he had need for more space, he had no desire for it. It hadn't been but a few days since he'd obtained his status as a village genin. In this village it was a sign of status, of evolution. Moving from being merely a student, to a true shinobi...but he knew better. Being a genin did not make one a ninja, not really. It didn't make one a warrior. Genin was nothing more then a glorified term for students who had proved worth the time it took to teach them. They were merely moving on to a new level of learning... a new level of being a student...but they were students none the less. Though he supposed it was less prestigious, he thought his families alternative hierarchy made much more sense. The Otobe didn't reward weakness, and while they most certainly held themselves in high esteem, they would never give the current level that HE was at much dignity. Initiate. That was all. Nothing more and nothing less. They wouldn't pretend that he wasn't still frail, wouldn't pretend that he wasn't still hardly worthy of notice. He was even less then a Squire, the rank granted to those of Chuunin prowess, and much less a true Officer, a warrior of the Otobe. The rank of knight? It wasn't even worth comparing himself to. The equivilant to a Knight would be someone the strength of a Jounin, and he was no where near that lofty height. Tp say nothing of the most prestigious of titles, Knight of Forte. There were few enough of those that reaching such a height was highest honor a member of the clan could aspire to... a rank that when met would allow an Otobe a place at the head of their forces, a place like unto nobility. Prestige, influence, power...all of these came with such a title, but all had to be earned...all had to gained through merit, and nothing less. He gave a small breath as slipped back into a thoughtful repose, looking up...or rather, down, at the floor as he mused. He supposed that he shouldn't lay idle. Even if the village itself didn't so specifically tell him that he should spend the time polishing his skills, he simply wasn't built to remain idle for too long. Besides... his eyes turned now upon a small black box that sat on the low table below, seemingly with no means of opening. If reports were to be believed...all his time waiting...all his time of quiet exile and unimportance...would soon come to an end. He should be ready... he should be prepared. The time had come for him to... he gave a rather playful smirk, put childish things behind him. Yes. That was how he would word it. He dropped down off the ceiling, turning about as he did so and landing on the floor in front of his window again, stepping out unto the narrow ledge as he once again used his chakra to secure him. It was, after all, a nice misty day for it. He supposed every little bit counted... He walked rather casually down the wall of his second story apartment, hopping down the rest of the way to the street once close enough, a rather aimless smile on his face. He supposed he'd head towards the much spoken of "Grove". It was large and secluded enough that he shouldn't be disturbed there. It would be perfect for his purposes... although what to work on. He puzzled over this vague as he set off for his destination, his absent minded smile still on his face. Tenko took a deep breath as he continued to walk. He always had a habit of looking down when he walked in crowded area and today was no different. He didn't know what do to really. Plus if he looked straight he was sure that his face would have dirt marks and maybe a scrape on it. He really wanted to avoid being stopped. His thought drifted back towards the Library. He wondered if he was going to find anything useful there or if it was all stuff more advanced than he could handle. He took a deep breath as he gripped his bag tighter. He noticed that his bag felt heavier. He wondered what it could possibly be. He stopped dead in the middle of his step and thought back. 'Oh crud... I forgot to put the book back!!! Oh no... I hope no one notices until tomorrow and I'll just return it as if nothing was wrong and that it was there the whole time. Yeah that should work. Hmmmm Where is that library... OH. Here it is.' He walked up to the library and pushed passed the door to get inside.

Tenko walked out of the library nearly falling over the step again, forgetting about it. He needed a place to train with the scroll. He knew of a forest he could go to. It was to the south if he remembered right. He hadn't really gone there before but he knew it was somewhere in that area. So he decided to just take the road that lead to that area. Well that lead to that general direction. He took a deep breath as he walked down the street. He was so happy he was going to be learning that he didn't even notice he wasn't looking down anymore until someone smiled back at him. He blushed slightly and adverted his eyes. 'Women always have a way to smile that can just about make you do anything... Well that's what dad says...'
He let his smile slowly disappear so that way he wouldn't really draw any more attention. He looked up occasionally just to make sure. He was able to see think dark shadows in the mist above the buildings. He had to be going the right way. He smiled and then forced it down. He had to learn more about how to train his face so he can control himself and what people thought about him. At the moment though if there was more girls than guys he became a shell. He remembered just before he had left that he had said bye to the two girls. Well he was more worried about what the Sensei might do than the odds of girls to guys. He shivered for a moment but that was all. He came upon the tree line and took a deep breath as he stepped past the tree line and into the forest.

Byakuran checked the time as he passed by an open shop, the clock inside telling him all he needed to know. There was still plenty of time left in the day to get some training done before he would have to take care of Takahashi's little errand. But what to do in the meantime...? He did have quite a bit of training left on his roster left to get through, but what to start on first? He'd finished water walking...if indeed he could call that training, so now the logical conclusion would be to move on to the water jutsu that he'd been planning on learning. He didn't have the scroll for it on him, but he was fairly certain that he remembered the basic gist of the jutsu and it's particulars. He'd been studying elemental jutsu for some time, hoping to be able to pick it up early, and this one in particular had been one of the one's he'd perused over the most thoroughly. Yet even as he did so... he found himself changing course mid step, walking away from the the grove, which he'd been intending to return to, and instead was drawn along towards a melody that played across his skin like a summer wind. The music was well played, and finely executed, the smooth notes of the song seeping through him as he followed it to it's source, eventually coming to a halt before an old man sitting upon the side of the market place's wall, his chin resting upon the hilt of a violin, his disposition weary yet skillful as he played. Byakuran wasn't alone in stopping to listen, yet he himself was the most drawn in. Music was something entirely different to an Otobe then it was to people who merely hear with their ears. It was an experience...it was a full body massage. Byakuran found himself merely caught in the act of listening, and without really meaning to, began to attune his second self in time with the rhythm. Perhaps it was having a greater handle on his Kekke Genkai, perhaps it was merely the grace with which this old man was playing, but Byakuran didn't need a scroll or instruction to beginning learning the technique his clan called musical inclination...he merely did so... Byakuran didn't realy think he could describe the sensation of music to a normal person if he tried. He himself had never had to try to hear solely with his ears, and indeed had never had too, while normal people simply didn't possess the second self that he himself did. How did one describe feeling sound to those who could merely hear it? Experiencing a song versus merely listening to it? It was impossible, it was not doable. It was like describing to a blind man, who had been so all his life, what it was like to see. Byakuran had spent many a time pondering out a proper way to put the sensation into words, but every time he came up short of the reality. It was just something that a person had to feel for themselves. as the man continued to play his violin, the others in the small crowding with him merely listening, Byakuran was doing so much more...

The man was probably a long time player of the instrument in his hands. It looked old and worn, it's strings the only thing which clearly had been replaced lately. Yet it still sounded perfectly preserved, the instruments tuning flawless as the man played on, the sound of the strings singing into the surrounding air. He wondered what the old man was playing for, he wondered, since he didn't seem to be showing any particular interest in the coins that were occasionally dropped around him, if he truly was playing in the role of a street performer... he wondered if there might be something in this song to convey what the man was feeling at this time...what he was experiencing as he brought forth the melody from the strings. Was there sadness within? Joy? Indifference? The song seemed to drift about between them all, singing it's confused message beautifully non the less.
