Lin thought in silence for a few moments. She didn't have much experience with different boys, so she couldn't compare what she thought were good things to say to girls and what were bad things. She only knew what she liked to hear, and that came from one man.... one vampire. She didn't realize it, but when Dymetri's face filled her mind as she thought about the things he said to her, a small smile graced Lin's face and a faint blush tinted her cheeks.

Dymetri was always so immensely sweet and kind with her. However, she also couldn't help but love the rough exterior he showed to everyone else. It excited her and always made her feel alive when she was around him. This rough, deadly man chose to be careful and loving to her. She felt so special when she was with him, in his arms. But there was also a thrill of something else that ran through her veins when she was with him. She still wasn't sure what it was, but it both excited and scared her at the same time. He was a very dangerous man, literally deadly to her kind, and yet she loved him.

That kind of approach wouldn't work for Ambrose, though. He was completely different from Dymetri, but it wasn't a bad different at all. He was sweet and dedicated, and he was very family-oriented, something Lin cherished fiercely. He would make a great husband and father some day. So really, she couldn't tell him what she herself liked to hear because it wouldn't sound right coming from Ambrose, it wouldn't fit his personality. But she did like what he had already said this evening.

Finally, with a thought in mind, Lin looked back up at Ambrose and smiled more brightly.

"Ambrose, what you just said to me during this game, I think, is the perfect thing to say to the woman you love. It shows how incredibly caring and protective you are. Women like to feel safe, protected, and they also want to be with someone who would be a good husband and father. Everything that you have said tonight is exactly what almost any woman, any woman I think you would like, would want to hear."

He chuckled. "Disowned? I wonder why," he added softly. He shook his head. He didn't want to pretend nothing was going on anymore. What was the point? She already knew. What was the worst that could happen, he lose his job? Psh. Might as well roll out the curses and cross out the last-name-only rule.

Dymetri thought hard about Danni's words, though. Her brother was part elf, and that would mean that they'd have a lot in common. He and Lin didn't have much in common at all. How were they able to even get along so well?

A flash of the upset Lin in the beginning of the year made him smirk.

He looked at Danni with weary eyes. His voice contrasted hers in several aspects. It was soft, loving, confused and vunerable while hers was angry, intolerant, and somehow stressed. "I don't know... For once in my life, I really have no ******** clue. Lin is able to make many people happy, but all that matters to me is if she is happy. And honestly, I doubt she hates you. She can't hate anyone, she can question their morals and attitudes though." He raised a brow at her.

"Come." He patted the area of the bed next to him. "Obviously, I don't believe that Lin is with your brother right now. But lets say that she is. Would your brother... touch her? Try and compliment her? Do anything that might make her... like him?" He ran a hand through his hair.

"No, of course he wouldn't. He is probably a gentleman." He put his face in his hands. He was beginning to believe her with every moment he thought about it.

"Don't ever fall in love with someone whose species was specifically designed to dislike your own. Hell, don't even like anyone. It just causes trouble. Don't help anyone or it'll screw you over. I am able to kill you right now because of this horrid mood you've put me in, and I wouldn't have even had the chance if you had let the pictures be found. But I will not. I-I just.. I'm just blabbing right now."

He didn't know the feeling in his chest, the squeezing of his lungs when he pictured Lin laughing her sweet, innocent laugh for someone other than him.

Danni didn't know why, but she obeyed Dymetri and sat on the bed beside him. Nothing was going right, she thought, absolutely nothing. Why couldn't it just end, just all end right now? How much more peaceful would it be to just close her eyes and let the dark take her under forever?

With a sigh, she tipped her head back, looked up at the ceiling. ""Oh, he's a gentleman all right. He'll be so afraid of doing something wrong that he'll fall all over himself trying to please her without coming off as overbearing." She said, then merely shrugged when he recommended that she not fall in love.

"I don't plan on falling in love, ever. Why promise someone forever when it's all just a lie in the end?" She asked, frowning slightly, but her eyes were dead now, as though she weren't really there. In fact, the more she looked at the ceiling, trying to imagine pasting on a smile for Cook one more time, the more appealing letting go right now sounded. They said hanging was fastest, but cutting one's wrists was effective as well. Then again, a dagger through the heart would be a dramatic way to go. What did she have to lose, anyway? Her family had disowned her, Cook had a life outside of her, and Night was probably only around because it was his duty. And if she ended it now, today, she'd never have to disappoint anyone by failing in her mission. Never have to see the disapproval and fear in people's eyes, never grit her teeth through another terrifying thunder storm.

Dymetri only got her attention again when he mentioned killing her. Well, yes, she supposed that was a decent enough way to go to. Her eyes completely serious, she stared at him until he was forced to meet her gaze, and she said, as casually as though she were commenting on the weather. "You can go ahead if you want, if it'll make you feel better. Kill me, that is. I won't mind." She said, her voice soft, her eyes blank and lifeless.

After a few moments, she tore her eyes away, looking somewhere over his shoulder. She managed to force a crooked grin, but it didn't reach her eyes. "As if I'd ever say that. Well, if you don't know what to do, I'll just go now. Have to start on breakfast soon." She said, and with that walked over to the window, standing up on the sill. For just a moment, she looked down at the ground, her eyes speculative. How easy would it be, she thought, to just tumble accidentally and hit head first? From this high up, death would most likely be instantaneous. Well, it was something to think on...With a slight shrug, she stepped off the sill, and floated down to the ground, expression solemn as she started off towards the cafeteria.

Ambrose nodded, attempting to smile back at her, but finding it quite hard. He was positive that soft blushing smile she'd put on while thinking hadn't been aimed towards him. The mystery man, he decided, and fought back the urge to sigh.

Instead he managed that smile-barely-and nodded. "You're right, of course you're right. So I make a declaration of my intentions? I just don't want to make it sound like I have this life planned out and she just happens to fit perfectly into the wife slot of the scenario. How do I let her know that there wouldn't be a scenario if there wasn't her?" He asked, scratching the back of his head.

((How the hell do I keep missing you guys? Damn... lol.))

Lin's eyes widened at Ambrose's words. "That last part you said, Ambrose, about there not being a scenario if she was not there, that was truly inspired and wonderful. You do have to tell her that. Any woman would fall head over heels for you if you said those words truthfully to her."

She then turned her head to the side and gazed out of one of the windows in the living room. She could still see the tiki torches blazing brightly in the distance, the party still very lively. No one knew how to party like Elves did, which most people found quite surprising, but Elves barely needed any sleep. So, they could stay up until all hours of the night, dancing, singing, conversing. It was truly magical.

Lin then cocked her head to the side slightly while she still looked out the window. She sighed softly and then spoke. "You know Ambrose? You are absolutely right. You cannot say these words to the woman you are infatuated with at first. It will scare her off, intimidate her. Even we Elves must build up a relationship before such words are uttered to each other."

She turned her head back toward Ambrose and smiled softly at him. "Yes, any woman would love to hear those words, Ambrose, but I know that you want to her her say, 'I love you' in response. She will not say that if you surprise her with such sentiments so early on. I believe it is best to build a friendship with her first."

Granted, she and Dymetri did not start off as friends before it progressed to something... more. Heck, they had hated each other, but then that searing passion that fueled the hatred soon turned to another type of passion altogether. It had all happened so quickly. But what she and Dymetri had was entirely different from what most people had, and Lin loved every magical, heated, love-filled moment of it. But it was not the recommended path for someone else to take, especially someone as tender-hearted as Ambrose.

"Yes, build a solid friendship with her before you declare your true feelings, I believe."

She then shrugged. "And who knows. You may discover that you truly do not love her in the way that you thought you did. By befriending her and learning more about her, you may just learn that she is not the right person for you, after all."

Ambrose nodded slowly, pondering her words. "You're right...Thank you, Lin. What would I do without you?" He asked, sending her a carefree grin that hurt his heart.

Lin laughed softly at Ambrose's words. "Well, you wouldn't know you were an Elf, and your study skills would definitely not be up to par."

She laughed again, but her whole heart wasn't in it this time. She hoped Ambrose hadn't noticed, but all this discussion about love and thinking about what exactly pulled her to Dymetri made her long to be in his arms right now. It hadn't even been a full day that she had been gone from him, but she hadn't seen him since this morning, and that morning had been.... well, it had been intense. There was no other word for it.

Lin stood up from the couch and smiled down at Ambrose. "Well, I am very sorry to leave you Ambrose, but I must go to my room for a little bit. I want to be a good tour guide for tomorrow, after all. But you may stay here as long as you wish. You are our guest, and I would never dream of kicking you out."

She reached down, gently grasped Ambrose's hand, and squeezed it lightly. "Thank you for a wonderful time tonight, Ambrose, and for introducing me to a new game. I really enjoyed myself tonight, and I cannot wait for tomorrow."

She gave one final smile to him and then proceeded to her room. She had not lied. She would be in her room for only a little bit and she did want to be a good tour guide tomorrow. It was just that those two things were not related to each other whatsoever.

She knew her father would sense her leaving the barriers of the Elven home, but he encouraged that. He wanted Lin to broaden her mind and experiences, and he knew that she frequently used to leave at night on the weekends to go to the library at her old school, Bai Ching, even during the summers.

She was just going someplace quite different this time with a much different focus.

Lin grasped the pendant hanging against her breastbone, held it out above the floor to her room, and then tipped it over so that two small drops of spring water fell onto the floor. She then waved her hand over that area, and soon a large water gate appeared in front of her, just like it had back at MFHS to allow her, Ambrose, and Lia to come here. This time she was doing the reverse trip.

Lin quickly stepped through the portal and barely blinked or paused when her feet touched the school grounds of MFHS. She was already racing toward the Night Building, truly looking like a manifestation of a spirit with her pale skin and beyond-graceful, fast movements.

Once she was in the Night Building, she hurried to Dymetri's suite. She already knew the path by heart and no one was around right now to see her go to his room.

Once in front of his door, Lin quickly rapped 3 times on it and then waited a few moments anxiously for a response. She even put her hand on the door, almost as if she wanted to feel his presence behind the door. And she couldn't help but whisper a plea softly.

"Dymetri, please. Be here. I need you to be here."

Dymetri frowned at Danni's response. He wasn't expecting that in the slightest. He wanted to ask why, ask what was wrong. However, another part of him kept saying that he didn't really care. Being around Lin so much gave him a sense of compassion that he'd lost through the years of being immortal.

His frown deepened when she left.

Dymetri sighed and put a hand on his head. He took long, deep breaths and stood up. Taking one more glance at his flowers to Lin, he placed a small spell around them. Only a person who had deep loving feelings for Dymetri was able to touch them. He made it so that if the heart had any other romantic feeling for another, there would be a barrier protecting the flowers from them.

That was the easiest way to know if when Lin came back, she still loved him. He turned to face the window and evaporated into mist, escaping out the window. He enjoyed the breeze that flowed right through him. He felt amazing in this form, and drifted to his room in the Night Building. He slid in through the crack in the outside window and materialized when he settled on the bed.

That's when he found the note.

Dymetri plucked it from where it was and read it, the carefree feeling he had in the air gone when he realized Danni really was speaking the truth. He closed his eyes harshly and his jaw set.

He released the paper, and it floated in the air in front of him. His eyes concentrated on the godforsaken piece of paper as it engulfed into blue flames.
The ashes collected on his bed in front of him, and he blew them away as if nothing.

He was upset.
He was stressed.
He was actually sweating.

He tore off his white vest and unbuttoned his black shirt when he heard banging on his door. He grunted and walked to the door, wiping the sweat from his eyes. That was sweat, right?

He opened the door roughly, and with a scowl on his face. The door made a loud reverberating bang against the wall and he exhaled when he saw who was on the other side of the door.

His face softened although his body was still tense. "..Lin?"

Lin gasped and jumped slightly when Dymetri tore the door open and it banged against the wall. Wow he must be angry at something... or someone. But he was still the most amazing, wonderful sight she had every seen. She had missed him so much and he was finally standing before her again, where she could finally touch him again.

And he was in his vampire form right now, with the purple and white streaks in his hair and the ethereal eyes. That should scare her, but it pulled her in even more. Not due to some vampire magic, but because she loved him, and she was a woman. This form was even more impressive than his human form, if that was possible. But there were tears in his eyes? She wanted to ask him why, but she couldn't find the ability to speak at the moment.

And now she saw that he was standing before her in only an unbuttoned black shirt. Nothing underneath, so she could see his pale, bare, muscular chest right before her eyes. It was definitely an incredible sight.

But any sight of him would have elicited this next response from him, regardless if he was in his human or vampire form, if he was fully clothed or entirely shirtless. She had missed him so much and she loved him.

Without saying any words, barely making any type of sound, Lin took two quick steps forward, placed her hands on the sides of Dymetri's face, and placed her lips firmly on his. There was no passiveness in this kiss. Lin was passionately and forcefully kissing Dymetri, almost as if she was trying to consume him.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 04, 2009 7:32 pm

He stumbled back before placing his hand against the back of her head. He couldn't believe this. She was there the entire time? Then what happened with the note? Danni?

Dymetri was confused but her soft lips were forcing him into a state of pure happiness. His arms dropped down to behind her thighs, picking her up so her legs were wrapped around him.

When she was secure, he closed the door softly behind him and held her. He soaked in their connection for what seemed like hours until the sane part of his mind demanded answers.

He regretfully pulled back slightly, his lips touching the soft invisible hairs on her own. He was breathing heavily and staring into her eyes.

"You wrote to me," he whispered, sitting on his bed. "But you're here."

He kissed the corner of her lips, pushed back her hair. "You're here," he repeated. He softly kissed her jawline and worked his way down to her neck. He massaged her skin with his lips and tongue, being careful to not touch with teeth in the off-chance that they held venom from his anger.

His hands were cupping her face now, his face in front of hers. His eyes looked down to her lips and back up to her eyes. She was beautiful. How could he ever had been upset? She smelled as she always did, and it was freaking great.

"I don't know why Danni would lie to me like that, tell me you're with her brother when you're right here." He applied the smallest bit of pressure to her cheeks to make her lips squish. He pecked her fishy face and grinned with his eyes.

Lin laughed softly when Dymetri squished her cheeks inward slightly and then kissed her. He was so cute when he was carefree and just focused on the current moment. But what he said did make her confused.

She cocked her head to the side when Dymetri pulled back again and she looked at him with a curious look on her face. Her hands were still threaded in his hair, though, so that she could remain close to him. She had no idea when her hands had done that.

"Dymetri, I left you a note earlier. I told you that I was going back home for the weekend because I wanted to introduce Ambrose and Lia Rinaldi to our Elven home."

Her eyes brightened and she grinned with excitement. "Ambrose and Lia are part Elves! I just discovered that earlier this afternoon when Ambrose and I were studying in the gardens. He had so many traits that Elves are blessed with, so I started asking him questions about his heritage. He magically produced a drawing of his family tree, and we discovered that he, Danni, and Lia really are part Elf! It is so wonderful! I had to take Lia and Ambrose home with me so that they could be around other Elves! It's our duty as Elves to bring other light Elves to our home, to our family. I was honored to do so."

She leaned forward and started softly and slowly kissing Dymetri's sharp, beautiful cheek bones. Then, she softly dragged her lips down to Dymetri's lips and kissed him forcefully again like she had just moments ago.

There was also something about Danni... Why had he mentioned Danni's name? But she didn't ask him about it right now because she had missed him so much and just wanted to focus on him, not on Danni or anyone else.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 05, 2009 5:29 pm

Ambrose nodded, though he heard the words sound false as they passed through her lips. With a sigh, he watched her leave, and then decided he may as well turn in himself. With that thought in mind, he made his way to the rooms he'd been given, resolved to get a good night's sleep if it killed him.

Meanwhile, Danni has strengthened her own resolve. Ending it was definitely the answer, she decided. But she couldn't do that without leaving a note. So she'd write a note, send it to everyone she thought may care. Cook, Night, Ambrose...Her parents, she supposed, Ialo. She'd decided how she would do it, too, the ending it thing. It was simple, really, and foolproof. And the sooner she did it, the better it would be. She'd write the letter now, make a spell that would deliver them the moment before she died. That way, no one could stop her. With Night preocupied with Cook, and no one else caring about her whereabouts, it would be only too easy.

So she climbed a tree, something she did often when she wanted to be alone, up into the highest branches that swayed slightly under her weight. Drawing out a pad, she looked at it with blank eyes, tryign to decide how you said good bye to people who'd probably be better off without you. Finally, she could decide on only two words. Scrawled in the center of the paper, in a handwriting that was oviously hers, she'd written simply, 'I'm sorry'. And then her initials, 'IDR'. It could mean anything, to anyone, which was the point.
To Cook: I'm sorry I couldn't be a good daughter. To Night: I'm sorry I went behind your back. To Ialo: I'm sorry I couldn't be strong enough. To Ambrose: I'm sorry I couldn't be your Izzy. To her father: I'm sorry I couldn't be good enough. 'I'm sorry' could mean so many things...

She cast her spell on the parchment, then slid down from the tree. She passed by so many students who knew her, feared her, but she didn't even see them as they swerved away from her automatically. She was resolved now, sure of her decision. It would be the best choice for everyone, she thought, and took the first step into the trees. The fairies of the bush hid at her approach, while the crows cawed in greeting.

It would be a long walk, but worth it. As she walked, the trees got thicker and thicker, blocking out the sun. She entered a world of pure magic, jsut waiting to be unleashed, that left her with a sense of calm. With every step she took, she made a transformation into the innocent who hid underneath the cold facade. The blue dye in her hair seemed to melt away, leaving the auburn curls in its place. The stiffness in her shoulders disappeared as well, and for the first time in months she felt she could breathe easier.

It took half an hour for her to reach her destination. It was a cliff, a tall one at that. When one reached the very top of it and looked down, you could see the sharp rocks below, pointed and deadly. The rocks were at the edge of a small lake, which slimmed down to a fast moving stream. All she had to do, she thought, was step off. It was that easy. With a relieved sigh, she slid her pack off her back, knowing Zepporo lay inside, waiting for his next order to come out. "Good bye, old friend..." She murmured, and at last peace came to her heart.

Cook had known something was wrong when he'd seen Danni slipping into the forest. So he'd followed her, had frowned when she hadn't seemed to notice at all. He'd froze when she'd climbed a steep cliff, and he'd glimpsed from his hidden position the sharp rocks at the bottom. Another spell ritual, he guessed, wondering why he'd worried. But one misstep would have her...Wait, why was she walking forward?

Without thinking, he called out her name, saw her turn her head and froze at the look of utter peace on her face. He only managed one step, and he saw her smile in...relief, it seemed, as she stepped off the cliff. He didn't realize he'd started running until he'd reached the edge, and saw her falling head first towards the rocks. "Danni! DANNI!!!" He called, but never saw her hit the rocks, for at that moment a note appeared in his hand, clearly in her handwriting. It said only 'I'm sorry'. At that same moment, letters appeared in the hands of Ambrose, Sly, Night, and Ialo as well, all saying the same thing.

It was as Cook stared at the words that he heard the slam, then the thump, and his nose picked up the smell of blood. "No...No! Danni!" He stared at the sight below him. There was her body, neatly skewered on the rocks, one seeming to go right through the back of her head. Her eyes were shut as blood rushed form her body, carrying on the water. As he watched in horrified disbelief, the water lapped at her, lifting her body off the rocks and carrying her with the current.

Without thinking, he began a mad dash down the incline, leaping into the lake, unaware that he was screaming her name. No, no, no, no, no. The words raced through his head like a broken recording. The water wasn't deep here, so he waded through, managign to grab an arm that was still warm. He stared in horror, checked futilely for a pulse, threw back his head and roared when he felt none.

The school, he thought, he had to get her back to the school. They'd help her there, they had to be able to help her. Hadn't Ophi done it before? How was Cook to know that the Ancients had already beat Ophi to Danni's spirit, had whisked it away from the world between worlds, so revival would not be possible this time around.

He hefted her carefully, so carefully, into his arms, came out of the water. He spotted her bag, remembered Zep. "Zep! Come!" He called, terror in his voice. Immediately the rug forced itself out of her bag, came over to Cook, who set Danni carefully on the carpet before climbing carefully onto it. "School! Now!" He cried, cradeling Danni's head in his lap even as it gushed torrents of blood.

In moments they were in the air, and five minutes later they touched down in front of the school. Not knowing what else to do, and desperate beyong words, Cook threw back his head and shouted as loud as he could. "Help! Somebody help her! Please! Help her!" Students passing by gathered around in horror at what they saw, disbelief evident on their faces. Still, they stayed back, fear evident in their eyes even though Danni was unmoving.

As her head fell sideways, it revealed the huge hole in the back of her head, and several people staggered back, horrified. Somebody get Ophi! Ialo! Someone!" Cook begged, his body curled protectively over his 'daughter', even as he clutched her note in one big dark hand.

It seemed he was the only one who refused to believe that there was no helping Danni Rinaldi. Not now.

Unfortunately for Cook, neither Ophiuchus nor Ialo were anywhere near the school. They were both miles away, one unconscious and the other destroying a gun pointed at Nathan's face.

"You," Ophiuchus said to the guard who was now unarmed. The man must have been surprised to see tall thin man with long white hair suddenly appear in front of Nathan, using a common blast spell to destroy the gun. "Are going to take us to the young Enlil, now." He doubted the guard would comply, seeing as they were in the enemy's territory now. But the Serpent decided that since the others were doing a fairly fine job of destroying the generators, then he could take advantage of the situation and do... well, something. The standoff between Nathan and that one guard was getting awfully boring.

((Ialo's post comes after this. Please be patient!))
