☆ ☆【With the heat of the battle against the Sableye now passed, Fianna wasted no time lecturing Xiao Lan for her reckless behavior and sternly told her to pay more attention to warnings so that they could avoid more incidents like this in the future. The Braixen felt her heartstrings ache as the Noibat solemnly apologized, saying that the beauty of the crystals caught her attention and that she felt it wouldn’t hurt to take just one. Still, she didn’t let her hard-nosed demeanor drop until she made sure her words were understood, to which Xiao Kan nodded. Shade chipped in with its own warning that she ought to not take what wasn’t hers, to which she said she didn’t know that the gems belonged to anyone and that she had asked the Sableye if she could have one. Which, of course, given that they were greedy little ghosts who obsessed over crystals and all things shiny, didn’t go over too well in the end. Even so, Fianna found it difficult to really stay angry with Xiao Lan, after all she had gotten herself in trouble many times before when she’d been a young Fennekin with a curious eye for adventures and treasure and an even more curious nose to go with it. She had been scolded for her antics by different family members on several different occasions, yet she’d been a stubborn little pup who was always eagerly looking to see what else the world had to offer and was a bit slow on the uptake with hard lessons. In the end she was willing to allow Xiao Lan to keep the crystal if she still wanted it, would be a waste otherwise after all the trouble they’d gone through for it. Right now, the group was more focused on progressing through the rest of the crystal cave and towards the next floor up ahead.
It hardly took long for them to find the stairs with Daiki’s help and sharp eyes, and within seconds they were heading up to the third floor. As they climbed their way up the stairs, Fianna adjusted her pace to fall in line next to the Zoroark, her tail brushing against him a little to alert him to her presence before she addressed him. A smirk crossed her muzzle as he teased her a little, asking if she was flirting with him now. ”Hey, it’s not like I, you know, like you or anything,” she retorted back in a sly tone, giving him a playfully gentle punch with the remark. However, gradually her face shifted into a smile that was equal parts warm and mischievous. ”Although… Perhaps it wouldn’t be a lie for me to say that maybe, just maybe, I’ve actually started to grow a bit fond of a certain green haired clown~” she added, holding the tip of a claw up to her lips in a foxish manner, eyes soft and kind as she looked to him, ”Who knows? You can take that however you like~” She then focused on the next part as he went on to seriously answer her question, pursing her lips as he said that he felt a bit tired and admittedly a bit anxious about what might be up ahead.
”Yeah, same here… Given how unpredictable these guardians can be, seems the best we can do is stick together exercise more caution from here on,” she admitted, sighing softly and nodding as he said he’d be fine, ”Alright… Just… Don’t push yourself more than you need to, okay? I’m just… really worried about what might happen if you overexert your powers, you know? Especially if these guardians actually start fighting back for real as we push further in…” She didn’t want Daiki to get hurt, or potentially push himself to the point where he might actually start causing more harm to himself than to their enemies. The Braixen would’ve given him an assuring squeeze on the shoulder if she could, but given how much taller he was than her she instead settled for giving said reassuring squeeze to his arm to let him know she’d be there to help him when he absolutely needed it.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, Fianna inwardly grimaced as the sudden unpleasant stench of earth and rot struck her nose, but with her focus mainly being on Daiki she hardly noticed the suddenly too moist ground underneath them until she tripped and almost landed face-first into it. Thankfully she was able to catch herself with her free arm to avoid an otherwise embarrassing landing, her ears flicking upon hearing Daiki asking if she was alright as he moved to help her up. She was able to take care of herself, of course, though she certainly appreciated his concern. ”Yeah, I’m good,” she responded with a nod, flinging away some of the muck that still clung to her arm, ”At least you actually asked me if I was okay first, a certain other Zoroark I know would’ve taken his sweet time to slip in a dumb one-liner about me being a ‘stick-in-the-mud’ before even stepping in to help.” She puffed out her cheeks at that like a pouting child at the mention of Klaus’s joking antics before it faded away into a soft smile. ”The sentiment is much appreciated though, thanks,” she added gratefully with a nod, eyes glistening with an amiably playful light, ”I had no idea you were such a gentleman too~”
Regardless, all of this mud would certainly make navigating through here a bit more difficult, shame that she didn’t have the same kind of stability on two legs as she used to have on four when she’d still been a Fennekin. Though whether or not that would help here was… debatable… She huffed in agreement at Daiki’s statement that they couldn’t have ended up in a field of sunflowers, hell she would’ve gladly taken another cave over this. Xiao Lan, of course, was hardly bothered by the new swampy area since she could easily hover her way around and not worry about touching the incredibly muddy ground, mentioning that there had been a swamp by her cave. Ah, that was certainly interesting to note! Having someone who was quite familiar would be very helpful here, Fianna was admittedly very much out of her element here. The closest she’d been to a place quite like this in her home of Laverre City was the swamp on Route 14, and even then she rarely ever ventured into that particular area after the one time she got herself stuck in the mud while wandering around and whined for help for what felt like hours before her dad came to get her. Swamps and other damp, muddy areas like this were definitely not the Braixen’s friend. ”Well, we’ll definitely need some of that expertise to help find our way around here, we’ll be counting on your knowledge for this, Xiao Lan,” she suggested with a small smile and a nod, giving a grateful sigh as the Noibat indicated a less sticky grassy part that they could use to get around on instead, ”Thanks, sweetie~”
Gesturing for Daiki to follow along, Fianna clambered onto the grassy area, sighing with relief as she kicked away some of the mud that still clung to the dark fur of her legs before pushing onwards with the others. The further they went in to this strange world, the more she honestly started questioning if this was even still a dream. The smells of dirt and decay, the squishing mud under her paws… it all felt far too real for this to simply be a dream… This whole situation was just becoming increasingly stranger and stranger as they kept going… ”Hm?” she murmured quietly as she noticed something odd about a vine that hung down in the path from a particularly low-hanging branch. A few of the leaves seemed strangely… shiny? Upon closer inspection, the fire fox noticed that the weird shiny leaves were actually a trio of Heart Scales stuck on top of the actual ones on the vine, and there was even a small pile of Rare Candies nestled together on a patch of moss a little ways away on the same branch.
How curious… Fianna was initially cautious about taking them, it seemed just strange that someone would just leave stuff like this lying about in a swamp of all things… After giving a quick glance around to see Daiki tucking away more of the blue wrapped candies as he picked them up along the way and Xiao Lan doing the same with some she’d found in a patch of grass, she supposed it wouldn’t hurt to take them. The Noibat had a good idea as she imagined up a satchel to carry her stuff around in, so Fianna decided to take a page out of her book. Closing her eyes briefly, the Braixen willed a small backpack made of fluffy Mareep wool to materialize on her back, very reminiscent of the one her grandad used to carry her around in when she’d still been a young pup. She tucked away the Rare Candies into one of the smaller pockets of her new pack easily enough, though when she went to retrieve the scales she accidentally crushed two in her hands while trying to handle them. Whoops, she’d forgotten how fragile these things can be, though the surge of strength accompanied by the new knowledge that filled her mind was hardly unwelcome. She managed to carefully place the last remaining Heart Scale into her backpack, gently nestling it inside a different small pocket so that she didn’t have to worry about it being broken by the candies shifting around.
With that taken care of, she proceeded onwards with the group, making sure everyone stayed relatively close together. The darkness and somewhat claustrophobic feeling of this place from the densely packed trees all around was a bit unsettling the more she thought about it, Fianna couldn’t help voicing her thoughts aloud about not wanting to know what sort of Pokemon lived in a place like this. It was then that Daiki jumped in, suggesting that perhaps the next guardian they’d be up against was a Muk or possibly a big spooky swamp monster as he made playfully creepy gestures by wiggling his claws for emphasis. Fianna couldn’t help but chuckle at that, tilting her head as she looked towards the Zoroark with a somewhat amused expression. ”You know… I can’t decide if that would actually be better or worse than what I was thinking of,” she said with a soft snort. A Muk, while that would be somewhat familiar to fight against, probably wasn’t likely if the guardians were going to follow a similar theming of being Ghost types… Then again, it was possible that they might start changing it up as they got further in, so perhaps that possibility wasn’t quite as farfetched as she initially thought… Xiao Lan, on the other hand, seemed momentarily terrified at the suggestion of there being a spooky swamp monster as she glanced around the area before nervously laughing off Daiki’s suggestion that there was no such thing around here. ”Now now, Kiki, no scaring the little one with all this talk of spooky monsters,” Fianna lightly tutted with a grin directed at the Zoroark, gently scratching the Noibat behind her ears in reassurance, ”There’s no need to worry, sweetheart, even if there was a big ol’ monster we’ll easily be able to take care of it if it tries to mess with us! If we could handle those creepy Sableye, I have no doubts we could handle a monster no matter how big or scary it is~” Admittedly the Braixen was very on edge herself, especially given how unpredictable this nightmarish world and these guardians could be… there was no telling what could happen as they kept going further and further in… Still, she was willing to keep up a strong front for Xiao Lan’s sake. ”Tell you what, if you’re ever too scared…” she suggested, reaching around to pat at the large empty middle pocket of her Mareep wool backpack, ”The large pocket should be big enough to make a good hiding spot for you, dear, no monster would ever be able to find you in here~”】☆ ☆

It really was rather curious the amount of detail the path had for some sort of dream or nightmare. In addition to the damaged wiring and the rotting or rusted support beams, there were several tools in varying states of disrepair along the walls of the tunnels. Even indents in the cave walls near some of where these tools laid that, in the real world, might have indicated a place where someone started to carve out a new tunnel. It made the houndoom wonder why a realm of dreams would have this level of detail. Was it wholly because of darkrai's influence, or did something else contribute to these tunnels?
An odd scent wafting down from ahead broke Daemon from his thoughts and the canine's pace slowed. At his warning, the houndoom gave Samson a nod and cautiously approached the end of the tunnel. The path revealed a wide cavern with crystals scattered all around, a large gem sitting proudly at its center. Dozens, hundred of gems glistened long the cavern walls, and Daemon could swear he saw some of them... Moving? The houndoom could also hear snickering and crunching. "...We should be alright as long as we keep our distance from these gems..." the dark type suggested before carefully beginning to pad his way through the cavern.
As neither pokemon had any sort of gems as part of them or on their person, at first it seemed like Daemon's assumption had been correct. Although many pairs of crystals along the walls turned to follow the two canines, for most of their path through the cavern the houndoom and arcanine were able to pass through unhindered. But as they started to close in on the stairs leading upwards, a loud crack! could be heard from the cave's roof and a shower of crystal shards rained down. Small pieces initially, but soon large chunks of transparent stone fell to the ground in front of Daemon. Like a swarm of candy-hungry children after a pinata was broken open, several sableye leapt out from the shadows to take and consume the pieces.
Although he tried to back away from the scene in front of him, Daemon was still a bit too close for one sableye's liking, and the ghost lunged at him. "Away with you!" the houndoom snarled as he loosed a stream of flame, no longer the controlled trickle it had been when trying to light a path through the tunnel but a full-fledged inferno! There was enough impact behind the flame to blast the sableye back, knocking it into one of the larger chunks of crystal that had fallen from above. Several of the other sableye hissed at the commotion but were too preoccupied with their shining pieces to wish risking them in a battle.

Dune felt himself getting a bit embarrassed. "Um, n-no, I think I can- can handle it..." He trailed off, wriggling a bit in the mud. At this point he'd also feel bad about getting Mogwai's fur dirty. Maybe... maybe, if he rotated his tail really fast and stuck it in the mud behind him, it'd be like a propeller? He raised his tail, which began to spin rapidly. Then he lowered it into the mud and- "Ah- ahh!" Mud went everywhere, splattering up and out, forward and back, over ten feet into the air. Dune was now completely covered.
"Um." His voice was squeaky. "Th-that wasn't what. Um. What I m-meant to- uhhg." Maybe if he tried he could just sink into the mud and get swallowed up. He was too embarrassed to look at Mogwai, really really hoping he hadn't splattered the bear that just wanted to help. If Dune tried again, with just a bit of angling from his wings to get going, he could probably manage it. But... he wasn't that confident about it working. "If- if you d-don't mind.... S-sir Mogwai, to c-carry me..."

Gail looked around, tail still swaying behind her. Her head tilted to the side as she eyed the vines, nose still twitching and wrinkling up a bit as she tried to adjust to the rank smell. "Hmmm.... Maybe we could carve somethin' into the trees? I'd try and do something with ice but.... I dunno any moves've that kind, yet," she mused, starting forward as she looked around. She looked back at Ammy as she came to a stop, though, letting the lupup get a chance to give her opinion. Honestly, despite being the one to suggest it, she was running a little dry on ideas. But maybe together they could think of something. Or maybe, hopefully, the boys would catch up soon. It had sort of been a while, now that she thought about it...

"I could have easily done the same, Dotty," Ai assured her friend. She hadn't even thought about it, despite having seen Dotty use thunder to attack the drifloon earlier. "It is actually a strong tactic in team battles." Ai wondered if it was because she'd gotten so used to the one-on-one battles of gyms that she hadn't even thought to consider what abilities her teammates might have. "It might be good to share what abilities any of us possess. I'm able to reflect many attacks that would weaken or incapacitate, like a thunder wave. It there is time, I could attempt to shield any one of you."
As they all started to travel into the swamp, Ai paused at the edge of solid ground. She concentrated some psychic energy around her feet, establishing a constant light push to distribute her weight over a wider surface. Like snow shoes. She stepped onto the mud with her invisible, telekinetic mud-shoes, and was pleased to find she stayed mostly on the surface, without getting any mud on her fur. She'd done it with sand and snow before, but was still relieved to find it worked with the sludgy substance.
She considered the way before them- paths through the trees, all muddy and muggy. There was no obvious difference between any direction that she could see. A psychic probe didn't tell her much, getting caught up in the heavy air and mud. "That way seems a bit more solid than the others," She answered Piper's question about which way to go, pointing the path out. "I don't sense any other differences. We can mark trees as we go, so we do not get lost."

Ulani
P R I M The Mute Florges
Even in the face of Ulani's, initial, denial, Prim was insistent on giving the crystal to her. Silently, and patiently, she kept her hands outstretched towards her for her to take the crystal. And when she finally did the flower broke out into a grin, and it only grew, to the point where her cheeks began to hurt, when Ulani began to inspect it. Her hug was returned, and Prim used it as an opportunity to hide a more bashful smile.
Geez, Ulani knew just how to make a girl blush!
Prim nodded quickly, motioned for Ulani to follow, then made her way to the bottom of the steps. In all the excitement of crystal retrieval she'd almost forgotten about the staircase! But, now that it was on the forefront of her mind, and there was no pesky obstacles in their way, she started to make her climb up onto the next floor; her fingers were crossed for a flower field.
A putrid nostril assault was her first clue that it most definitely was not a flower field that awaited them. Only halfway up the stairs, Prim had to press her hand tightly to her face to try, somehow, to block the smell that wafted from just above. She turned around, partially to look back and check on Ulani, and partially to consider returning to the cave, before she forced herself to look back up and continue. It was a swamp. A stinky, dirty, murky, terrible, swamp, a biome that Prim had never been in before, and desperately wish she could've kept it that way. Even if this was still a dream, she didn't want any sort of experience in it.
She would've sighed, had she not been trying to conserve her breath, then did a quick sweep of the area in front of her; the sooner they found a trail to take, the sooner they could get out of here. While she didn't immediately spot a trail, because of course a thick fog around them, she did manage to spot... Prim squinted, unsure if what she was seeing was right, before hesitantly edging closer. No, her eyes hadn't been playing tricks on her. She had spotted a miniature mountain of candy.
In a swamp, of all places.

Designated the navigator by Sir Daphnes himself, Chickpea took his new role seriously enough to hold his head high and take, several unabashed steps through the muck. Never mind that, because of his small stature, his underbelly dragged against the ground and left mud caked on it, eventually he began habituated enough to the sensation that he didn't even notice it! He and his lucky mushroom were going to lead them to the next... whatever, and the next set of stairs (he'd accepted that this was how they'd progress through the dream).
Oh! But, of course, he needed to make sure that he actually kept up with his team. In all his excitement, Chickpea may have gone a bit too far ahead. Backpedaling quickly, the Johto starter retreated back to his team, only to find... quite a few changes had occurred in the short amount of time he'd been gone. "What happened here?" he asked with a head tilt, his gaze shifting between the muddy Dune and... the... uh.. was that Sir Daphnes? He was the only one not accounted for. "You evolved?!" That was the most logical explanation.

V I V A C E The Togepi
Oh. So, it'd been a shiny stone that had turned Radium's fur pale white, and not a mutation, like Dotty had panic-strickenly assumed. "I didn't know stones could make you change colors," she mused, more to herself than anyone else in the group. Honestly, she just thought that pokemon were born shiny -- that had been the case with her. She was learning quite a few things in the swamp! Unfortunately, as far as abilities went... that was something that'd have to remain unknown, at least hers. She hadn't had any way of knowing -- in fact, how did you even find out about it?! Deciding not to expose how little she knew, Vivace opted to remain quiet at Ai's suggestion and instead nodded her head, yes it was definitely a good idea, so at the very least she participating.
Ai had a lot of good ideas. Like, marking trees so that they wouldn't, accidentally, backtrack. "I can help with that!" Vivace volunteered, then raised her right arm up. "I bet that water move I used earlier would be strong enough to scour some trees." That or she could always try her metronome, but that was a luck-of-the-draw kind of move and there was no telling what she'd use. It was best to rely on a more consistent move, even if she wasn't sure how exactly she knew how to use it; before entering the cave, it'd never even been available to her.

Shade slowed in their progression to glance back at the group. Fianna and Daiki were... doing it again. That mating ritual stuff. Or at least, it seemed like it. The chengshen twitched an ear, before looking ahead, and gazing around. They turned, looking back behind the group, eyes still faintly carrying a spiritual glow. "Beltigre has still not caught up," they observed, though didn't further comment. At this point, Shade was admittedly considering the worst for their self-dubbed leader, but unfortunately, at this point, that just meant they needed to push ahead faster. The sooner this ended, the sooner they all, hopefully, reached safety.
Looking up as Fianna addressed Xiao Lan, Shade finally took in that the noibat was certainly sticking to the skies in here, and the chengshen's tail swished slightly as their head lifted to address her. "Xiao Lan, you don't want to play with us in the mud?" the offered with gentle playfulness. Despite their experience with Cherish, Shade knew that most would rather stay out of the muck they were all trudging through, and though they tried not to let it get under their skin, the sludge was fairly unpleasant, even with their more metallic coat to guard them. At least it didn't matt the fur it likely was with their comrades.
Shade's gaze swept the group as they seemed to all find some sort of candy, and pick them up. Fianna even found a few scales. That seemed... a bit unwise, given what had just happened, and their talk just moments ago, but the chengshen didn't comment. Instead, they turned their gaze to the tops of the trees, keeping an eye out for any possible enemies or suspicious shadows lurking around. It seemed, thankfully, to be fairly empty, and for the moment, safe. Their gaze fell back to the group as they discussed what could come next, and Shade smiled some at the antics of discussing a swamp monster. "This is the dream world..." they commented quietly, "Who knows what creative creatures we could find?" More than likely, though, it would be something fitting the environment. That was Shade's guess, at least-- Muk, or something similar, like Daiki suggested. Turning forward, Shade continued, looking around and keeping watch, just in case, while listening in on the conversation of the others.

Argo had every intention to retort to the Ivysaur that he meant her no compliment at all. Instead of verbalizing it, he looked away sharply with a bit of attitude. Reaching the next area was more than enough to distract him, however. Man, it reeked! Swamps were the worst. It was something him and Cy could agree on. But even in this dank, a**-smelling environment, there were goods to be found. His eyes narrowed as the others took to gathering what appeared to be candies. The seabird couldn't help but want some for himself, deciding to take to the air, flying under branches to look for some of his own. Instead, he found a shiny shard. He would have thought that it was just from the cavern earlier but something seemed more unique and sparkly about it, so he couldn't help but dive down to it and take it up in his beak. Yet another treasure to keep to himself.

Dotty felt a little better about her flub when Ai and Piper reassured her that no one blamed her for using her thunder attack. Ai had a point though, they probably should go around and get a better idea of their attacks and abilities so they could avoid these scenarios in the future. "Umm... My ability is kinda the same as Ai's, I think.... It protects me from a lot of bad things, kinda like this orb." She took out the sickly violet orb that Scarlett had given her. "M-my trainer said that this normally hurts you in exchange for stronger attacks, but my ability negates that effect I guess..." She explained.
Dotty felt vaguely relieved that Radium's change came about a strange crystal rather than something she had done, but still. "Uhhh... W-well I guess that's good but... You still shouldn't go touching things that you don't know about! W-what if this is some sort of disease, or radiation???" She looked over the small mouse worriedly. The good news was Radium insisted she didn't feel any different and that it was just a change of fur, and Piper even confirmed that the symptoms matched something she'd seen before, or rather a friend had seen before. "Me neither, Vivace..." She agreed with having never heard of stones changing a pokemon's color, though she came more from a place of concern.
Differently colored pokemon were certainly something she knew about. After all, she was one of them, but like Vivace, she'd just been born this way. Though, she'd also assumed that maybe it was part of her "defects". Regardless, Dotty was going to keep an eye on Radium just in case.
They also had more pressing matters, such as where to go from here. For the first level, the mist had somewhat guided their path. Then the cave seemed to have a certain direction to it as well. The swamps on the other hand felt quite open for exploration with no real direction. Piper suggested they could pick a direction and stick with it, but they looked to Ai for an answer, since she had taken on a sort of strategist role in their little group.
With her psychic booties, Ai managed to find a spot of the swamp that was more solid so that their ground traveling companions could cross with ease. However, if they were to navigate the swamp then they needed some sort of trail marker. "That water pulse did look pretty strong... I think that should work." Dotty agreed as Vivace offered to make marks on the trees.

Xiao Lan worriedly followed Shade's gaze back when they commented on Beltigre's lack of appearance. "Well.... We're also really fast." She piped up hopefully. Beltigre was probably going slower than they were since they were a big group. It was possible they were just progressing faster because of that, even though Beltigre was making her own progress. Ultimately, she wanted to try and stay positive on the matter, because regardless, as long as they got to the Darkrai soon, then they could help Beltigre wake up.
Xiao Lan puffed up proudly when Fianna thanked her. She wasn't sure she could really be called an expert on swampland, but she sure liked the sound of it! That and the idea of being reliable in general so she could make up for her earlier blunder. However, when Shade jokingly asked if she didn't want to play in the mud with them, the joke went right over her head. "Huh? We're we playing a game? I wanna play too! Pick me!" She then promptly landed in a mud puddle and began splashing and giggling. "Rarrr! I'm the swamp monster!!!" She growled adorably, holding up her clawed wings, now covered in mud and some kind of lichen. So much for keeping her fur clean.

Between Raf and Noah's arguments, Luna wasn't sure just how safe the candies were. Still, she sniffed at the few she had gathered from branches rather than the ground as if her nose could deduce whether they were safe or not. "These ones don't smell bad..." she countered as a weak argument, but then a thought hit the pokemon. "But... Why are they here at all? And why are they in a trail?" That... Now that the eevee thought about it, that seemed really odd. "Is it to lead someone to something...?" she theorized, but if that was the case... What were the candies leading pokemon towards?

Rafflesia chuckled a little when her companions began to complain about the smell of the bog. First Argo suggesting it smelled like a**, then Noah insisting that was an understatement. "Meh. Maybe I've gone noseblind, but it doesn't seem that bad to me." She did give Allure an odd look as she claimed to be technically undead though. "That so? Interesting. You aughta meet Arum. She's an undead chikorita friend 'a mine. Maybe you can help her cope with her ghastly self." She suggested. They were getting off topic though. The good news was Allure seemed fine with progressing for now. Raf was pretty sure if their weight became a problem, Allure would be the first to let them know.
Their attention soon moved to the candy that the group had begun to spot scattered about the marsh, and Raf pulled a few pieces up for inspection. Noah seemed to think they looked normal, and Raf shrugged. "Well yeah, the candy is normal, but they've been sitting in swamp murk. A little wrapping paper isn't gonna keep that out. I mean.... I'd still eat them, but only cause I've got a cast iron stomach. Can't really get food poisoning. The ones from the branches aughta be okay though." She explained her thought process on the matter, tucking the swamp candies in her bulb. Though Allure piped up again, suggesting why it mattered if this was all a dream anyway. "I guess that's a good point, but this doesn't entirely feel like a dream either. Too real to be a dream, too dreamy to be real... If that makes any sense. I dunno." She scratched her head.
Luna had another good point, questioning why the candy was here at all, specifically in a trail. "One way to find out." Raf suggested simply, giving Allure a pat on the back and looking to Noah as he lamented the lack of nuts, apparently craving them over candy. "Yeah... Not sure we'll find nuts in here pal, but hey. Look at it this way, the faster we find this Darkrai bum and beat his a**, then the faster you can wake up outta this nightmare and get your walnuts, yeah?" She suggested with a smile.

A wolfish grin stretched across his muzzle as the braixen took his teasing in stride, being playful in return. "Oho~ you are quite a tricky little vixen, huh?" he chuckled. "And here I thought that you abhorred the color green." he continued. The topic then changed to how he was feeling, and the zoroark couldn't help but feel a bit better knowing that she also felt the same way as him. He insisted to her that he would be fine, but she shared a concern about him overexerting himself. Daiki gave her a confused look at that. Was he? Well, he'd admit he hasn't actually fought at all before, so he wasn't used to the way attacking felt. "Alright princess." he agreed to her terms as they continued.
He felt a bit responsible for the braixen's fall, which had caused him to move to help her. She was able to gather herself up easily without help though, but was still grateful for his offer. Fi commented that a certain other zoroark would have had a remark to make first. "Hmmm.... I can't deny that that sort of comment is right up my alley, but i don't think you have been that deserving of such a thing." he admitted, scratching the back of his head a bit. "I do what I can." he winked as she mentioned him being such a gentleman.
When the topic of what might lie ahead for them came up, he couldn't resist the urge to suggest a spooky swamp monster might be in wait for them. It was mostly to see how Xiao Lan would take it, and it was a success in his opinion. She certainly seemed a bit wary. "You can never be too sure, little one. Stay alert." he warned her with a grin. Part of him was tempted to illusion up some kind of monster for her, but he ended up not having to. The chengsheng had offered to play in the mud with Xiao Lan, and the bat took to it, becoming the little mud monster herself. While he was glad to have been pointed to a path of less mud, he found himself not too worried about the mud on his feet. "Ah! You see that? I knew there was a swamp monster!" Daiki played along with Xiao Lan, putting on an act of fear for the little bats enjoyment.
