Royal, after having read the past page or so I feel the desire to add a few points of my own. Inherently your character should have a sort of subconscious control over the metals and mineral components within his own body. Something that has happened over long periods of time that requires only subconscious effort to continue. The idea of being immune to radiation due to lead components in the body, having stronger bones due to metallic elements ingrained into the structure, and superconductivity. Get hit with a lightning bolt? Ok, have it run around your body in circles through very thin "wires" in a closed circuit so it doesn't do any harm to the organics.
These are some basic ideas that go with very little actual effort and would go under the idea of just being a passive thing thats just there. For something of an activated ability I might suggest the ability to staunch wounds and creative armor plating, which should be obvious. Beyond this you might also consider the use of very thin cords of metal that extend out like antennae around your character to help anticipate incoming assault and detect invisible targets. Such a web around your character could also be used as a reactive defensive mechanism, focusing shards of metal in the way of oncoming attacks.
As a bit of a stretch you might find a way to connect your nervous system to technological objects for information transfer or tampering. This, along with things like shapeshifting, is a bit out there, but plausible given the correct justifications. Though above all else, stabing someone with a blade that grows fishhooks or even bigger nasties inside somewone is just fun. XD

((My brain is just filled with fun. Could even have your eye pull out of its socket and remain connected by a thin cord. Give it a few spider legs and voila, instant recon device. Having to stay connected to the character doesn't always have to mean direct contact. Thin wires are fun for so many things, throwing and controling weapons in the air the least of it.))
Edit: ((lawl, make puppets out of things and people. Be easier with dead things, but if you can get a direct connection of metal into someone and then run it throughout their body, you got yourself a puppet. The process might just kill a person and it'd be more time and effort than just putting a few holes in the brain, but I like the idea of having someone punch themselves to death. "Quit hitting yourself, Quit hitting yoursef,..." etcetcetc))
