Jade thought in silence again for a few moments, sipping at her soda. It was hard to explain something, when you only half understood it yourself.
"I suppose....it's like this: Many of the people of this planet have no idea we exist. Something tragic happens and many of them die, and when they all return, they see it as a mircle. When the threat is destroyed, they don't go seeking out who might have saved them.
"Those of us here really didn't mind being behind the public eye. Personally, I'd rather not get noticed out on the street as being a powerful person who can 'solve the worlds problems.' But I guess Nii-chan got a bit fed up with it. Earthlings never came to our aid, so why should he help them?
I suppose another thing is that at this point, many of us have things in our lives coming to an end. A final fight is drawing nearer between many rivals and enemies. Nii-chan sees nothing else beyound that. But just because a chapter is ending in a life....doesn't mean the whole book is done....y'know?"
Jade laughed a little nervously. "FOrgive me for rambling like that, Kenta-kun....but there are few I can voice an opinion about to now-a-days....."
"As for Caine....he's my blood brother, a murderer, low-life scum bag, and right hand to Taliman Wesley, currently. He loves to cause me misery. Perhaps you know his children instead....? Twins, named Shaina and Vincent."

"I don't know if I can believe that," he responds, taking another drink of his milk, growing steadily warmer, and more distasteful to him. He was never one to leave stuff behind just because though and nothing was wrong with the thick liquid. He simply took a larger drink than before to be done with it sooner.
"My Mother will constantly try to persuade me that Father will always be gone to make sure that everyone can finish their stories. To me it sounded extremely selfish to abandon your family for the sake of more able bodied adults, but if I put my faith in her words, like it or not, I'd have to say that at this point, he can't possibly think that everything is soon to end because he'll be waiting for a while." It did seem to pain him to admit this as it credited KenoTao, but it would have been too nice and easy to simply assume that maybe his father was simply dealing with a sort of life crisis. The notion had a touch of dark humor to it as he imagined the ridicule he'd receive for addressing something so stupid face to face with his old man.
Coming back to himself, he devoured his Ba-chan's words on her own brother, whom she seemed to resent as much as he did his own father. "Are you suggesting my dad is a low life that loves to cause misery?" Although this made sense from Kenta's experience, he had definitely noticed the shift in KenoTao's behavior around his mother, grandmother, aunt's, and cousins. Only the young kitsune ever really ended up irritated. Disregarding the names of Caine's children, whose named he likely also heard in passing, his young weary eye fixed on his aunt with determination, but waning dexterity.

"Belive me, your father used to be a lot better than what he is now, or what he becomes in your time....Presently, I don't want to see him, because he'll chew me out for the way I fought in my last fight....."
She didn't want to mention it was against Taliman. In fact, Jade would rather forget the whole thing, but at least three people wouldn't let her. And Keno was one of them.
"He seems more worried about my technique in battle, than about how I'm personally doing outside the fighting ring...."
Jade smirked a little and reached out across teh bar, ruffling up Kenta's hair a little with her right hand.
"No, not a low-life causeing misery. I've never considered Caine my brother, ever, and I swore to kill him someday. Keno became the brother I needed when I needed one, but now he's so distant and cold, it's as if I don't have one. He, like Caine, only wants to see what I can do in battle."
If Kenta didn't know who Ciane was, then she silently hoped that he would never meet up with her brother. Best not to know someone like that if you can help it.

Technique. That was something Kenta could relate to. About the only thing his father ever did was train him, but never quite enough to actually see any desire improvement which only haunted and discouraged the boy. He had countless times asked for more lessons, better lessons, and was always rejected. In fact one of the things his father always said -
"You certainly aren't like the aunt I'll know," he commented, laughing lightly under the weight of Jade's hand messing up his apparently genetic messy hair. "You'll always end up defending him for how he is, maybe even glorifying him a bit for it. Seems you've at least been granted the liberty to understand him, even forgive him." He looked completely glum as he spoke these words, dispelling any high spirits his aunt had teasingly infused into him. His ears fell as he appeared to sink into a depression of sorts, eyes heavy and bloodshot, which did not suit the elegant glow of hazy gray.
"Nothing like Ba chan at all," he muttered, looking up at her through his half shut eyes, lashes heavily blurring his view. For a moment he thought he saw his real aunt...well the aunt he knew anyway. Her smile, the maternal concern that he enjoyed second only to his mother's, the love in her eyes. However it was only her profile he was seeing. Everything else was a void and were he just a bit more aware of himself, he'd know he was dreaming.
The young kitsune's head was now lying on the bar counter, right cheek to the surface. Slowly, his arms slithered underneath him as a pillow and his tail swayed on last time before resting itself in his lap, the same moment his breathing grew heavier. When he woke up, he'd probably hate himself for being such an early bird, but he had beaten his bed time by quite a few hours.

"So that's what you think of me is it?"
No sooner than the boy had fallen asleep had he rose to his feet, his chair sliding against the floor rather unpleasantly. The man whose face was covered with a scarf for the bottom half and a plated headband and straw hat for the upper. Only his right eye was exposed, and it was glaring at the bar with a fierce intensity that might penetrate steel on the other side of the planet.
As he walked forward, his thick wide legged red pants ruffled against one another, his black shoes tapping against the floor slowly, clearly, sharply. His fingerless gloves hid under his elbows as he folded his arms and paused, unsure as to whether or not he wanted to take another step forward or not.
All that was left was his glare, the only thing that seemed to have any life to it at this late hour. In the back of his head, he was replaying that last part Jade had said about him, taking a particular interest in her words. She doesn't want to seem him, because he'd probably chew her out. He's more worried about her technique in battle than about how she's personally doing outside of the fighting ring. Well it was certainly news to him, and the more he tried to stay mad, about it, the more he couldn't.
Distant and cold, he stood there, staring at his sister like she was a whole new person. To think that of all people she could say such harsh words about him. Never would he imagine that anything she could choose to say about him would be so cruel. Would he have gotten onto her case about the fight? Yes honestly, but not for any other reason than to assist her. It was obviously something she nor her lover seemed to be able to appreciate. For too long now, years it seemed, he had left her alone to handle her own affairs, but he was concerned now that she might not be up to it on her current track. Apparently though that wasn't the case.
The pain started to break through in his eye. Intense anger was still flowing out of it like steam from a pipe, but beyond the visual scope, the huge overwhelming pain was pouring out all the quicker. Even if he didn't want to lose face, he'd probably admit that he was honestly very hurt by Jade at that very moment and it was all he could do not to wake the boy up with some mad rant that would likely get him nowhere anyway.
Several times he made to say something, but felt that his words would be wasted on the Saiya-girl. It wasn't that he wanted to tell her off or embarrass her, or harass her so that maybe he'd still have that authoritative dominance when he saw her. What he did want though, wasn't something he really felt like doing. Until just then he didn't think he had to in the first place, and now here he was realizing that everyone still wanted to be spoon fed.
He spun on his heel for the door, which opened with a rather serious dread for the guest taking his leave. As he walked through, rather than closing as they normally did, they slammed with tremendous force. Hell the club might have even trembled a bit, but the young kitsune didn't budge, his body instinctively detecting no danger. Keno had left and was in a much worse mood than perhaps he had been the entire summer.

Breathing heavily, Soneko sat up. He had been staying at the club for awhile now, sleeping on the benches in the main room. He groaned and rubbed at his eyes. A dream of he and his brother arguing had showed him a part of his past that immediately set off a chain reaction that allowed Soneko's memories to come flowing back rapidly. He stood up quickly. Too quickly. He was already having trouble focusing and getting a head rush was making him see double. But he didn't care. He needed to go and gather himself. He remembered these things, but needed time to sort things out. He grabbed at his hair, trying to get himself to calm down, but it wouldn't work. With everything flowing back the way they were, his head was starting to hurt. His vision doubled and his mind not working right, he stumbled through the main table, knocking over a few chairs and tables on his way out, grunting with the contact with his waist against the hard surfaces. His body slammed against the door and he struggled to turn the knob. Drenched in his own sweat, he managed to pull the door open and stumble out into the cold night.
