Alex paused, hand already raised halfway to pet Glori. Instinct had him looking at Azalea's eyes. Not really sure what he was looking for, but not picking up on disapproval or any kind of trick his hand shot the rest of the way to the cool li'l gal. "Hey fluffy, thanks for helping!" he chirped, actually having the sense to not poke the little one in the eye.
Chica's bursts of electricity had died down, and she seemed close to going limp in defeat by the time Alex looked up to see Azalea recording it. He cocked his head like a dog. Oh. Was...was I supposed to take a picture too? Alex took out his pokedex and held it facing the pokemon like Azalea was, trying to look like he knew what he was doing.
Klow, the Night Glow pokemon-

Glori stared at Alex as he hesitated to pet her, watching him intently but with an unreadable expression. Once he finally worked up the courage to pet her, she shrank down, though not in fear necessarily. ('What is? What is?') She chittered anxiously at the friendly petting, seeming to get all jittery from the strange and foreign affectionate gesture. When he stopped petting her, she stilled, staring at him for a bit... Then she hopped off the counter and tackle-clinged to Alex's face. Azalea blinked in surprise as Glori became a blur of black. "Woah! What do you think you're doing? Stupid hairball..." It wasn't clear whether she was attacking Alex or perhaps trying to reciprocate the gesture in her own weird way, but regardless Azalea pulled her off of Alex's face and held her still as she struggled. "Stop your squirming fluffbutt. He already has to deal with that snake. We don't need ya wiggling down his shirt too." Azalea smirked. Finally, she seemed to calm down, as calm as vibrating in place in Azalea's lap could be. She was so weird, but that was why Azalea liked her.
Taking a picture of Alex as he acted a fool, Azalea watched with amusement as Alex mimicked her with his pokedex. He was so hopelessly clueless and impressionable, and it was only by accident that he happened to get the klow's pokedex information. That only made it funnier though as Alex tried to play it off like it was all totally intentional. "Chiquita Banana? That's an amazing name. I approve. The name's Azalea. So, you gonna catch that little noodle or what?" Azalea nodded towards the klow that seemed to be currently trying to strangle Chica.
As her trainer dealt with the unruly pokemon, Lavender grew distracted, noticing that some other gastly had entered the pokemon center and were passing out fliers to a halloween themed carnival. She grinned widely and quickly flew over to greet them. The ghosts were quite happy to see one of their own kind and chatted excitably about the fair and all the tricks they'd been pulling. ('Wow! That sounds amazing! I want to go... I'm sure Azalea would like it too. She pulls pranks on people all the time!') She cackled. ('Here, give her one of these. If she wants to go, we can help take you all there! Geheh!') Opening it's mouth, one of the other gastly presented Lavender with a flier on its tongue. Lavender laughed and levitated the flier off, bringing it over to Az. "Huh? What's this?" Azalea glanced at the flier and tilted her head. She had been planning to deal with some punks in Alola, but a carnival seemed like it would be fun actually. Plus it meant free stuff, and a free pass to prank some punks, like Alex here. "Yo Alex, we're going to this shindig." She gestured to the (slightly wet) floating flier, speaking decisively for both of them, and soon the group of gastly spirited them away to the festival.
Alex nearly yelped when the black fluff launched itself at him, but he was trying really hard to seem cool. The big goofy grin didn't really help that though, since he decided this was basically a return pet from "fluffbutt". Or was it "hairball"? She was really good with coming up with names on the fly, kind of reminded Alex of his older brother!
Oh, but Alex was good with names too! And apparently Azalea thought so too, which was just awesome. Alex, not to let his new friend down, immediately knew just what to say when she questioned him about his 'noodle'. Of course! "'Course, and his name will be- Cup Noodle!" Yes. Perfect.
Alex tapped a pokeball to the little snake's head, sucking it in and officially capturing it. Chica huffed and flopped, taking a few moments to gratefully rest on the tiles. When Alex scooped her up she snuggled into his warm hands. [ Coulda helped me out sooner... stupid... ] Her little chest slowly rose and fell as she drifted off to sleep. Alex held her a little longer before returning her to her pokeball and looking back up at Az.
"Huh?" His eyes flicked to the flier. "What? Okay" He started reading it. Woah. WOAH. YEAH. He just said okay because Az said they were going but he was bright with excitement as he did whatever she said to get going. Man I love making new friends who take me to cool creepy places!

Umbra woke up to a new day in the travelers room in the Pokemon center and grimaced a bit, she pulled herself out of bed and did her stretches and warm up to help ease her aches and strains. It was the usual routine to the morning and she was ever eager to once more get back to training and seeking out the pokemon that she wanted to add to her team. She knew there were Nidoran in the area and she did want one for her team, though she didn't have a real preference of which one she ran into, she did hope for a female. Their move-set just appealed a little more to her as a trainer. After her stretches Umbra got dressed and prepped for the day. Things were starting to fall into a loose routine for her which helped keep things balanced. She may not have been a straight and narrow kid, but the routines that her Aunt had ingrained within her were a welcomed thing that helped keep things normal for her. Being on the road was something that Umbra wasn't totally used to yet and any little thing that she could do to help herself ease into the transition was welcomed. Umbra shouldered her backpack and looked down at Jolteon who was looking back up at her with some level of expectancy. "Well, let's head out then. Hopefully we can make a solid day of training and capturing pokemon out of this." She looked ahead and lead the way, her Jolteon trotting by her side at a relatively relaxed pace. She would continue to fill her pokedex pages and do as she had done yesterday and the day before. The first Gym badge seemed so far away for her team yet and it fell to her to train them up accordingly. She may not be a very seasoned, hands-on trainer yet but she was still confident in her knowledge when it came to her abilities and raising her pokemon properly so that they were ready for the Pokemon league challenge.

Umbra started to shift her way through the grassy patches near the city to raise her pokemon and hopefully find some new team players in order to join her growing little party. She planned to at least get her team a bit more experience before moving on. The forest was probably going to be a long, and daunting trek for herself and her party. With no Pokemon Centers there she was sure that she was either going to be running back and forth quite a bit or going to be going through an awful lot of potions that she was going to have to stock up on. Regardless she could move at her own pace and take whatever time she needed. Umbra was pulled from her pondering when a flash of movement came from the bushes not far off, she looked over at Jolteon who returned the look with a nod before they both closed in on the wild pokemon that was making the noise. A Spearow appeared out of the bushes and Umbra paused for a moment before looking over at Jolteon and giving him a nod towards the opponent. Jolteon put himself between the Spearow and his trainer and prepared for battle.

"Very good, Jolteon, I expected nothing less from you." Umbra gave a nod of approval at the situation, her stoic expression was as calm and composed as usual when it came to her Pokemon. Jolteon came back over to join her and took a seat for a few seconds before Umbra turned her attention back over her shoulder to where more grass was just waiting to be searched. Wordlessly Umbra started with her search and Jolteon followed loyally behind her.

Umbra stiffled a yawn that crept out of her as she continued to push through as she continued the tedious task of looking for Pokemon in the wilds. She wished that there was some way to choose which little monster you found next, but she knew that was never going to happen. Wild Pokemon were as unpredictable as they got, but that was part of the adventure trying to find them. She supposed that grumbling about it would do little good and only make the task all the more unbearable. Still, her back was really starting to ache from the position that she was taking and she was going to have to take a break sooner or later. That damnable car crash really did a number on her body and the effects were still being felt to this day... and would likely last till her dying one. Umbra winced and started to slowly stretch out a bit while Jolteon continued to poke around to see if he could find any pokemon to stir up and bring out of the bushes. Umbra brought her neck backwards and rested her eyes for a moment, still performing some pain control exercises. She hoped that she wasn't stressing herself out with this pokemon journey and keeping expectations of herself higher than she should. Her confident arrogance did tend to stem from how she saw herself in the roll. After all, a confident pokemon trainer gave way to a confident pokemon team. Then again, the only reason that she was on this journey was for that one Pokemon that could undo the damage that her cousin inflicted upon her. God she hated her for what she did, but crying about it wasn't going to fix the problem nor was standing idly by waiting for someone else to do it. With that last little mental note Umbra once more joined in the search for more wild Pokemon.

Umbra pushed through the bushes and the tall grass outside of the city in her continued attempts to find that one member of the team that she knew for sure was in the area. Or maybe at least something that would help her raise her pokemon a little more and get them a little stronger. Umbra was in no real hurry, the day had only just begun and she was more than hopeful that she would be able to find that Nidoran that she was crossing her fingers for and waiting on baited breath every time there was a rustle in the bushes. Her blue eyes scanned carefully for any signs of a pokemon that might resemble something of a four legged creature- Paw prints or something. Jolteon too, was using all of his senses to help her hunt down a pokemon.

It seemed as though Umbra's patience was finally being rewarded as Jolteon seemed to catch a scent of a pokemon that was unfamiliar to it. Umbra perked up a bit and looked over in the direction that the pokemon was looking and saw some movement in the bushes. She was trying not to get her hopes up but her heart started to pound heavily in her ears as she approached. When the bushes parted a rather welcomed sight greeted her and her sought after female Nidoran had come into view. Umbra grinned and grabbed her Pokeball with Jynx inside, it was time to get this pokemon some experience and hopefully she would be able to capture it.

Umbra took the opportunity to throw her pokeball to capture the Nidoran. The sooner she could close off this battle, the sooner she could get her Jynx cured of poison and get Nidoran caught up with the group. Umbra took her pokemon to the Pokemon center where they were taken in to get treated for their injuries. Umbra pressed herself up against the wall and rested her eyes a moment. She was starting to feel rather confident about her growing team, though she was going to have to give her Nidoran a lot of time with training, same with her Jynx, she paused for a moment and played with the idea of going back to Pallet Town and raising both of those pokemon properly before heading to Viridian Forest. Umbra figured that was going to be a pretty good idea, weaker pokemon were probably going to be preferred right now over switching pokemon in and out of battle and risking her other pokemon getting hurt needlessly because of it. Umbra opened her eyes when she heard her name being called out and pushed herself off the wall and made her way to the counter where her pokemon were returned to her. Placing all her pokemon in their pokeballs before attaching them to her belt. She made up her mind and headed back to Pallet town where she could get a feel for her new pokemon and raise them properly.

And back once again to Viridian City! It seemed that Umbra was chasing her tail as far as locations were concerned more than she was training up her pokemon. Regardless, with Squirtle still on her back and enjoying the ride there was still plenty of adventure to be had here and Umbra felt a strange surge of energy to help her out. It was only perhaps mid-day when they arrived back at the city and after a quick rest at the Pokemon center, Umbra was once more scurrying around in the tall grass and foliage that housed her little tickets to beating Brock. She kept it in the back of her mind to start looking for trainers as well. Wild pokemon were fine and dandy, but nothing beat a good trainer verse trainer battle for experience - both for the trainer and for the pokemon themselves. For now though, she would focus on just the wild pokemon and get her team a little more beefy before taking on what she knew to be tougher opponents. It was more important to her to ease her pokemon into this rather than just throwing them mindlessly into it and hoping that they were going to be doing okay.

Umbra continued to push her way through the tall brushes as she continued to search for her pokemons next opponent. Squirtle, too, was looking for a some pokemon to take on as the duo continued on with their thankless, tedious job that would ultimately lead to a greater victory. Umbra moved a patch of growth out of the way when a sharp pain shot through her arm. Umbra withdrew her hand and noticed that there was a large thorn sticking out of the side of her palm. Umbra's face flushed and her knees became weak at the sight of the crimson that slowly ooze its way down her hand. Umbra's inner Princess took over and she instinctively brought the back of her unwounded hand to her forehead as her eyes lost their focus and Umbra tumbled in swooning faint. Poor Squirtle wasn't sure what the heck was going on and jumped off her back before she squished him in her tumble. Squirtle trotted over and examined his human and tried to find the source of her faint, being a pokemon, he knew that fainting was a part of battling but... he didn't know that Humans could faint too! Maybe she was weak against grass-type attacks and moving through the bushes was creating super-effective damage?! Squirtle was going to have to be more careful with her human in the immediate future if she was weak to grass-type moves. Squirtle looked around for something to revive his human with, maybe there were some berries or something around here that could help her...

Blue unleashed the other pokemon from Umbra's belt and the four of them gathered around their fainted Princess. They were chatting among themselves and speculating what had happened and what that was going to mean for the party itself. "...and that's the long and short of what happened." Blue finished recalling as he crossed his arms in front of his chest and looked up slightly in thought. "She hasn't stirred or anything sense then." "Well, I think it's safe to say that whatever happened wasn't because of the grass. Normal grass doesn't attack like Grass-type pokemon, Squirtle." Jolteon replied thoughtfully, his eyes narrowing in his own contemplation. "Perhaps the thorn was poison?" Color drained from all of the pokemon present as the question hit them hard and heavy. It was Nidoran who took charge and bounded over to the thorn root where she took a sniff and gave a cautious nibbling lick. After smacking her lips together she pulled her head up and looked over at the rest of the pokemon who were waiting with baited breath for the results. "I can confirm without a doubt, that this thorn was not poisoned." A gathered exodus of relief flooded those gathered. Well, they ruled out one problem but that still didn't wake up their human, Nidoran joined the other three and they went back to brainstorming what they could do. "Our human isn't dying, so that's good." Jynx replied with a nod. "But we don't know what wrong with her and that's bad." "Maybe she's just sleeping, let's go look for some berries that will wake her up." Nidoran suggested. Jolteon bowed his head. "That would be the best course of action, but she should split up, some of us should stay here and some should go and look for the berries. We don't want any wild pokemon attacking Umbra while she's unable to defend herself." "Yeah! That's a good idea! She would do that same for us if we were asleep." "Those with hands should go and gather the berries, us quadrupeds will stay here on guard." And with that decided, the band of pokemon divided their team and started their hunt for the berries that would rouse their human from her mysterious slumber.

It was a bit of long search as Squirtle and Jynx made their way from bush to bush in search of the proper berries that would bring their fainted trainer supposedly out of her slumber. Squirtle was getting a little worried that his trainer was pushing herself too hard sometimes and maybe this fainting spell was a sign of that. Jynx seemed a little less worried though, maybe she just had good faith in their plan to rouse their young lady or perhaps she was just a carefree soul. Whichever it was, the pair of them rummaged and scavanged their way to 5 Chesto berries. Squirtle was about to go back when something shiny caught his eye from under a bush and after some careful extracting he pulled out a disc that looked like it contained some sort of TM on it. Huh, strange place for someone to bury treasure... but what the heck, it was his now! Or rather it was Umbra's now. Anyway the pair of armed pokemon made their way back to their human and the other two pokemon and placed the berries beside her head. "So now we feed her the berries, right?" Squirtle asked. "That's how it works, right?" "But... humans don't feed us the berries when we fall asleep. We just eat them ourselves and wake up. Maybe we put it near the human's mouth and she'll eat it automatically?" Jolteon voiced as he sat on his haunches. Squirtle started to attempt to place the berry near Umbra's mouth though he was having some limited success when it came to the shape of her face. Jynx too, joined in the fun of trying to balance a round berry on Umbra's facial structure. "Wait... how DO we eat berries when we're asleep?" Nidoran suddenly pondered outloud. The gathered pokemon all stopped and looked over at Nidoran, then their faces slowly scrunched up into deep contemplation at the mystery that was presented to them by Nidoran. Nidoran took the initiative while everyone was pondering the deeper mysteries of Pokemon to hold a berry by Umbra's mouth. Nidoran gave a heavy sigh. "This isn't working, now what do we do?" Apparently though, one deep and troubling question was all a pokemon could think on at a time.

As Umbra slumbered under the warm sun and her Pokemon frantically tried to wake her up, her mind wandered back to what had lead her to the situation that she found herself in now. Umbra didn't really want to be a pokemon trainer, at least not in any sort of serious fashion, she had studied for the longest time to be an oceanographer. Her dream a few years ago was to go to the oceans depths and explore the wild life and habitats that nobody had ever dreamed of and make new discoveries to open up the world to others. She had often wondered if still having her parents around -hell, even just one of them- would have opened this door further for her or if her life would have started in another direction entirely. Umbra would have loved to be sitting in an aquarium right now and taking notes on behaviours of the underwater life and listening to the lectures that Professors and experts had discovered. But that was a path that was not in her destiny, apparently. Instead, her entire life seemed to be robbed from her, all her interests had to be put on the back burner and her life goals forced to be altered because of a stupid wish and a stupid pokemon. Umbra hated both parties involved, her life was torn to pieces and here she was desperately trying to get back what she had lost and force fit what she could back together to have any sort of semblance of the life that she worked hard for. She forced herself to have an interest in battling pokemon, she forced herself to take this journey and to be a pokemon trainer for the sake of getting her life back on track. She couldn't help but wonder what it was about her that her parents hated so much that they just left her? Was she just a failure of a child in their eyes or maybe Umbra was just cursed with bad luck and this was... just what her life was going to be full of? Setbacks and broken dreams followed up with forced obligations and running around aimlessly in order to make any sense of a life and have a shadow of life worth living. Umbra finally pulled herself out of her dreamless state with a flinch and opened her eyes to a bleary image of a huge pair of lips closing in on her. Umbra's eyes shot open just in time for Jynx to plant a heavy wet kiss practically over her entire face. Umbra squirmed a moment before placing a hand on Jynx's forehead and her chin and pushing her off. "Bleh! Jynx?! What in heaven's name are you doing?! No! Bad!"

After recovering from the trauma of being smooched by Jynx, Umbra found herself being frantically cuddled and licked by numerous members of her party. It took Umbra a few minutes to push through the fog in her mind after having fainted but soon found her feet and returned the majority of her pokemon back to their balls to keep order and make sure that they were all safe. The only one that was spared from this was Squirtle who had once more made a fashionable backpack out of himself as Umbra slowly started to push her way through the grass once again to try and find wild pokemon to battle her team against. Ugh, maybe she should head to the pokemon center and rest for a while - that faint may have been as result of pushing herself too hard. Maybe a nice cool glass of water or lemonade or something would hit the spot, her pokemon were working hard and could use a rest themselves. It didn't take long before a familiar pokemon came into sight.
[A wild Spearow appears: Level 7] It did look tough, but Umbra was sure that Nidoran could take it on. If things looked bad then she would pull her out and send someone else with it. Umbra summoned forth her Nidoran and she appeared in a flash of red. "Nidoran, use Scratch attack, let's try and take this one down quickly." Spearow, who had the advantage of speed took the first strike with a fierce peck [Spearow used peck - Nidoran took 35 damage] [Nidoran used scratch- Spearow took 40 damage]

The next round came to be, and Umbra worried her thumb a little bit, Nidoran wasn't looking too good but she decided to chance it and called for her Nidoran to take action once again. "You got this Nidoran, use your scratch once more."

Umbra breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed a bit, it looked like Spearow was readying to go in for a serious strike on that one. "Good job, Nidoran. Lets got to a pokemon center and take a bit of a break. I think we could all used one." Nidoran chirped and bounded over to Umbra where the three friends made their way to the Pokemon center for a rest and some pokemon treats.
