"101...102...103..." Each count was another quick, heavy breath. Each number was a few new drops of sweat on the tile beneath him. His muscles were sore, tense, and begging him to give up, feeling as though they were under way too much strain. It was only against his better judgment that he kept going, for although he could toss houses, travel the globe in less than a minute, and destroy planets with the proper sneeze, he hated squats!
His gaze kept forward, gazing at the entrance intensely, as though his focusing on the vast nothingness through the corridor might actually distract him from the fact that he was actually exercising and his limbs were sore. Sweat beaded up all about his face, flung away from his eyes by his lashes as he blinked, streaming from the hair matted from his forehead. Of course he was sweating all over, but it was only above the neck that annoyed him. Everything beneath had something to absorb the liquid and keep it off of his body.
"125...126...127..." He was now straining for breath, grunting every time he straightened his knees. It was so saddening that he struggled so much with these damn things when he could do thousands of push ups, sit ups, chin ups, and crunches and even run miles upon miles without feeling the least bit winded. Here he was with just over 100 squats and he was ready to call it quits. Keep going, he told himself. Keep going until you can't stand. Then drag your sorry a** out to bed.

Footsteps were making their way through the hallway in rapid pursuit of something, although a fleeing pair would not be detected. Her fur was standing on end, her tail rigid, and her eyes firmly set within their sockets. She had come in for some water for her headache, but suddenly that ailment wasn't even an issue and was the furthest thing from her mind. All of her focus was set on one thing and one thing only; kill KenoTao. Were this one of his many allies, perhaps she would acknowledge that emerging victorious wasn't likely. With him though, that didn't matter because if she just let him go, she wouldn't be able to sleep very well at night.
Before she even realized it, her body was in the air, traveling like an arrow in the air, her left heel aimed straight for his lower jaw to separate the joint into its two connecting units. Maybe then she could rip the lower half off and lodge it into his upper skull. That would be a pleasant pick me up.
