Medeus Obviously you haven't actually done any kind of research on this. I'd recommend looking up the Dead Sea Scrolls. Aside from those, most of what they've recovered that is in the bible today was Dug Up in the Middle East only recently. Now, you can look into all the techniques and estimations they use to Date an artifact, but they dug up things that were buried Long before the crusades were even a thing. There were things buried in the ground that the Crusaders had no idea about. That's exactly what I'm saying. IF all those zealots truly believed in Christianity, Truly were following the teachings they presumed to believe, they would not have killed all those people. Therefore, all those 'zealots' believed in the wrong thing; they weren't really Christians. See how they've already given God a bad name? We've done our research in different places and therefore reached different conclusions. Please don't try to imply that I'm ignorant because I believe in different things than you.
Those 'not really Christians' are the people who wrote the surviving version of the Bible, the one that modern Christians are living by. If they weren't truly Christians, what does that make the people who live by their teachings? Jesus taught unconditional love, not judgment. Jesus forgave and loved his killers as they killed him. Where did this condemnation of 'sinners' and lust for 'justice' come from? Why do you look down on those who have done 'wrong' in your eyes when the person who started your entire religion would have loved, accepted, and forgiven them regardless of what they'd done? How did the teachings change so drastically, if not by the hand of man? They didn't change. You don't understand; the New Testament is a collection of eye-witness accounts from people who were there, in addition to the letters that Paul wrote to the surrounding growing church with information and instructions that would help them walk the Christian Life. There are pieces of paper that date back to around 300 AD, numerous copies of the exact same quotations and information that's in Paul's letters. In fact, just by the quotes and teachings they've found only in Lectionaries (or preacher's teaching foot-notes) since 400 AD, they can reconstruct literally every single verse except 1 passage in the New Testament, and even if you look in a bible today, there's a note that says "Some translations leave this section out", so it's not like they're hiding that part. Next time, try looking into some research that Doesn't come from atheists and agnostics who're trying to disprove what they don't wanna hear, eh? You're numbers are skewed. Also, I think we can come to a logical conclusion based on everything You just said: If the Knights of the Templar wanted to re-write the bible to teach that Killing is okay, wouldn't the modern Bible reflect that? How do you even know that Jesus taught unconditional love, if those "history writers" wrote otherwise? You're contradicting yourself.

I'm honestly getting tired of these debates. They're pointless. You're not going to change anyone's fundamental faiths that easily regardless of what you come up with. Believe what you want to believe in and shut the hell up about it. These spiritual debates wear on my eyes, my patience, and my blood pressure every time I come across them. PICK A NEW TOPIC.

A recent case in California to ban sales of video games to minors was rejected by the Supreme Court on account of the First Amendment.
Aw, tough s**t. Looks like parents will, for a little while longer, be burdened with the inconvenience of picking up a game case, looking at the black and white rating box on the bottom-right corner of both sides, and using their five good neurons to decide whether or not it's something they want their kids to play. Oh, the humanity...

That we are loved and forgiven no matter what we do is the conclusion that makes the most sense to me. It's the thing that makes me happiest to believe. And as long as it makes me happy, I don't care if it's right or wrong.

No offense Med, but, you are sounding like an outrageously biased little p***k. Do you know how many religions you're offending by speaking in that self-righteous tone? There are more than one religion and just because Christianity is the popular one doesn't make it the right one.
Seriously, I've never had a problem with you, and I don't even know if you ARE Christian, but, you're even offending me, and I'm FROM a Christian family. I may not be Christian myself, but I'm not parading my pagan beliefs as the All True Religion, and I'm sure you don't mean do, but Jesus Christ you are trying so hard.

Today was a good day.
Finally got back to exercising after I got sick and all that smoke was in the air.
I felt significantly less useless at LoL this time.
The Dr. Who season finale with Donna was amazing and hilarious.
It feels like my artistic motivation is kiiinda coming back.
Now I just need to find a job. :I

Although for the record, you are the one who brought up God, so you realize that you've invited me to share what I know on that topic, eh? God decided that Unconditional Love was the only fair way to be close to the ones who choose to Love him back. If he used his power to force people into Loving him, by definition it wouldn't be true Love. So you can't question his Power if he's choosing not to use it for Our sake. If he Forced everybody in the world to choose Good every time, it wouldn't be a choice, and that would make God sadistic and cruel. If his Power isn't in question, then you move on to his Motives. Why would he allow suffering in a world that's supposed to be forgiven? Well, Why would he bother forgiving anybody if he just liked to watch suffering happen? Why would he have sent his Son to Die for our sake, if he Wanted us to keep doing what we were doing as if it didn't matter? You're right LPS, You are Loved and Forgiven for everything you do, but you've already told me that You're the only one who's forgiveness matters to you. You're choosing not to accept a free gift from the God who just wants to hang out with you, because you're That important to him. But how could he force you to look his way, and still call it Love? You're so important to Him that he's chosen to sit with you while you're gazing off in the distance, he's closer by than you know, and you don't know because you've decided that you don't like it. If you truly believed you were forgiven by God, you would Live as if God had forgiven you, and you're not doing that. Wouldn't it make a difference to you if you found out that the Creator of the Universe and everyone in it Wants to talk to you? That He Wants to make a difference in your Life, but he can't because you won't let him? The question isn't "Why is there Suffering in the world if God is Love?", The question is, "Why are you choosing to suffer when God's Love and Mercy is waiting for you to realize it's there?"

People don't like it, because they don't like submitting to a higher authority beyond themselves. If you know something that other people don't, it's kind of cruel for you to keep it to yourself for the sake of Fear that they won't accept it. Even LPS will tell you that Fear means moving backward. Don't be afraid that others won't accept your perspective, because you owe it to them to at least have them consider your beliefs as a possibility. Nobody has come to me and said, "I have a better idea!" so I figure mine's workin' out pretty well. Seek out the Truth, because it will only aid you in the end, and you have to explore other peoples "truths" to do that. Can't do that if everybody is afraid to share, and you're the one holding yourself back by not knowing. Maybe you should be parading your beliefs, because so far nobody has stopped me from doing the same, and I won't stop just because you're afraid of it. A Buddhist Nun once said, "Fear is a reaction to coming closer to Truth". I think she was right, but she missed the second half: Once you've found the truth, you've no more reason to be afraid. 3nodding
